User FAQs

The pub has a traditional and eclectic range of offerings, along with quality pub food served with famous British hospitality.

The building was originally designed as the head office for a Yorkshire Insurance Company in 1840. The name of the pub is taken from a hotel that stood nearby in St. Helen's Square.

Some of the popular dishes on the menu include Pulled Duck Croquettes, Garlic Mushrooms on Sourdough, hand-crafted specialty pies like Chicken and Truffled Oyster Mushroom Pie, British Steak & Nicholson's Pale Ale Pie, sausage and mash, burgers, fish and chips, and traditional Bramley Apple & Blackberry Crumble.

The pub serves an exquisite selection of perfectly-poured, ever-changing Cask Ales, including their own Nicholson's Pale Ale. They also have a Gin Palace with a variety of gins from juniper-heavy to sweet and fruity flavors.

Customers had a positive experience with friendly staff, a nice atmosphere, great selection of cask ales and gins, and delicious food options. The architecture of the building was also mentioned as a highlight worth seeing.
