Barbara Bassi: Very nice experience. We had Easter lunch with a tasty Sunday roast. They provided us a comfortable spot where it was easy to reach the accessible toilet and have the baby changed. They also provided us with highchair. Also, the position of the pub is a few steps from the stunning York Minster. Highly reccommended!

David Marshall: Early evening weekday meal during Easter break. As tourists to York we weren't sure whether a reservation was required, but we were able to get a 6pm table without any fuss.The kids menu was generous, certainly enough for our 10 and 12 year old boys.Cocktails were very nice and the food was tasty. We had the sharing kebab which was great and just about the right size.Only complaint was the speed. Given the place was probably three quarters full, the length of time between ordering and receiving the main courses was a little over an hour, which felt a long wait.
Kylie Smith: Absolutely love this place! Go with the girls for cocktails and nibble and with the husband for the hanging kebabs! Delicious!Kid-friendliness: I’ve taken my daughter here for lunch and it’s child friendly for all ages.

Tracey Williams-Macklin: Lovely pub with great food. Cost of food fairly reasonable.Pints a bit pricey but they had a good selection.Vegetarian options: Had the put lentil & vegetable cottage pie: delicious. Vegetables perfectly cooked and flavoured.
Cheryl Marcus: Sam and Christian where absolutly fantastic.Very welcoming and chatty. When ever me and my mum visit York we always come here to dine. The food I had a change as always wanted to try the pie. Which was cooked by Gav. Steak and ale I tried this time and it didn't disappoint. The carrots where lovely. Colin Richardson: Stayed here for a short break in York and absolutely can’t fault it. Room was lovely, breakfast was great, staff too, and location was an 15 minute walk from the city centre. Excellent pies and beers too, and the whisky selection was the cherry on top.Rooms: Lovely room and facilities.Nearby activities: It’s York. Natalie Chambers: I often think this place doesn't look much from the outside but inside it is lovely!Always beautifully clean and on a sunny day it is so bright and gorgeous and always feel so warm and welcoming. The food is second to none too. Wonderful roasts on Sunday AND you can supersize them to have extra meat and roasties too. Amazing! We also sometimes for lunch and the pies and sloppy Joe sandwich are a favourite of mine. Defintely recommend.

Suze Siviter: Friendly service, pie was very nice, good pastry, veg cooked well too, if I had to be picky, the mash didn't taste as good as homemade buttery mash, tasted more like the powdered kind. Still, highly recommended, would go back.
Charlotte Pearce: Visited here on a Friday lunchtime. We ordered the halloumi wrap with roasted peppers, salsa, and baby gem lettuce but I asked for this as a sandwich which they did. Also ordered the chicken wrap with chips, and the steak and ale pie with vegetables, mashed potato, and gravy. You can order off the lunch or main menu at lunch time which is handy. The food arrived quickly and was tasty. It was a bit cool inside so I did ask if the heating could be turned up, but I didn't notice it get any warmer. Overall enjoyable meal and I would recommend.

Lorien Mogridge: Dog and kid friendly local in a pretty part of York, close to the University campus. Love the staff and the food, especially the sunday roast! Coming back to try the weekday menu soon.Vegetarian options: Vegetarian and vegan options are available! Nut roast on the Sunday menu, veg chilli and mushroom risotto during the week to name a few.Dietary restrictions: Staff were very knowledgeable about allergens and were happy to accomodate the issue in the kitchen for us.
Ian Kirk: Cosy pub with a good selection of beers and wines etc The Taylor's Landlord beer was excellent. The lunch menu was varied and the cheesy mash and 3 large sausages was delicious. The southern fried chicken burgers also proved to be a hit.The barman was very friendly and worked hard to keep the afternoon customers happy.The pub is dog friendly and there is a large beer garden, some of which is covered. There is a free carpark to the rear. We'll done to all concerned.

Barry McGill: Great homely pub with friendly staff and good value pub grub. We had the beef sani and standard chip butty which was huge. Just glad the landlord steered me away from the giant chip butty. Well worth a visit but make sure you have cash as they don't accept cards
