User FAQs

The park offers a range of facilities including woodland, sports facilities, a playground, a cafe, and a Japanese Kyoto Garden.

The park's Ecology Centre runs events, activities, and educational visits for schools. They also have a wildlife club for children, holiday activities, and a full programme of events for all ages.

The park has a beautiful Japanese Kyoto Garden donated by the Chamber of Commerce of Kyoto in 1991. It was designed and built by an eminent Japanese Garden designer and his team to celebrate the Japan Festival in London in 1992.

The playground includes sustainable urban drainage systems (SUDS) such as stone channels, berms, and planted areas that catch rainwater and allow it to drain back into the ground. This reduces flood risk and increases biodiversity, while also encouraging children to engage with the natural environment.

The park was once the grounds of a large Jacobean mansion called Cope Castle, built by Sir Walter Cope in the early 17th century. It was later renamed Holland House after the Earl of Holland's wife Lady Rich inherited the property. The house was badly damaged during World War II, but a section of the front terrace is still used for open-air theatre productions and classical concerts.
