Amanda Hamilton: I attended Joe’s January Lunar meditation and Nidra experience online and would highly recommend this to everyone. Joe’s communication in advance was very clear in terms of what to expect and how to prepare and the whole session was a peaceful and blissful journey which allowed me to fully relax guided by Joe’s thoughtful words and sound integration. This was much needed at a time of pain and stress. Afterwards Joe sent a great detailed follow up on how to continue embracing some of the invitations covered in the mediation and Nidra, with links to useful resources and how to take some time for self care in my own time. Louise Fellows: I attended Joe's "Inner Calm" session on a Friday evening - the perfect way to wind down after a long work week. I love the way Joe blends her expertise, incorporating Somatics as well as Yoga Nidra. She is incredibly professional, having taken everyone's needs into account, with the result being that I felt soothed, calm and safe - even via Zoom. Deep relaxation is so underrated - I think everyone should try it.

Fiona Frame: I have experienced an Inner Calm session including Yoga Nidra with Joe. I thought I was so wound up and tense by an agitated day that I might not actually be able to relax. After one hour, I felt transformed - my muscles had released months of tension and I felt like I had had a massage even though all I thought I was doing was lying on the floor. Inner calm was the correct name for this session. I was very pleasantly surprised and will be booking again.

Claire Robinson: One to one Soundbath. Amazing experience!This was my first time having a soundbath and it came at a time when my energy and emotional levels were quite low. Joe tailored the sounds and chanted mantras to fit my personal needs, and they certainly delivered. The sounds and their vibrations felt deep and comforting. I left each session feeling happy, soothed and nourished. I would definitely make time for sessions in the future.

I felt supported and held by the sounds - able to surrender and bask within the vibrations and let them take me on a journey. Layers of healing and revelation emerged through that letting go process. Joe offers personalised, supportive and deeply nourishing sessions for small groups in an intimate and cosy setting. Highly recommended!

DRANAC1990: Fabulous experiences with Joe - I have been going to see her over the past few of years for relaxation and pain relief massages, along with advice on how to prevent further pain.Joe has also been helping me with stretching and yoga techniques which I can take home to prevent further problems. She also teaches Yoga.The attic, where the treatments take place, is also great - comfortable, homely and you feel well away from life. Its like an escape. And the incense smells incredible.Joe has many different techniques and methods she can treat you with - beginning with finding out how you want your treatment.On arrival, Joe also gets caught up with how you are - work, movement, pain, stresses, how much you are walking, diet etc - which helps her tailor the treatment and any suggestions she has.Finally, Joe has incredible knowledge about the body, how and what affects it in different ways.Highly recommend.Thank you Joe!

Chelsea Fawcett: I attended the pregnancy yoga which I loved. The movements were gentle yet I felt like I was still being active enough to count it an exercise. I have just started attending the postnatal mum and baby yoga and so far I am really enjoying it. I can almost feel my pelvic floor healing ❤️‍ and it has been a great way to meet with other mums as Susan offers hot drinks at the end and time for a chat. It’s so relaxed, you don’t feel pressure to be on time, or if your baby cries or needs anything. The class focuses on you but there are fun little ways to include baby too!

Holly Taylor: Susan at For Modern Mothers has classes and courses to cater throughout pregnancy and post partum. I have attended pregnancy yoga, her hypnobirthing course and her creative class for mothers. All have been such a special part of my pregnancy and time with my new baby. She creates such a welcoming environment fostering a real sense of empowerment and togetherness among women. Despite possibly being the busiest woman I know with her offering of courses/classes, she manages to make each woman feel special, important and cared for. I would reccomend to any pregnant woman or new mum. My partner also really benefitted from the hypnobirthing course and it brought us closer together during the final stages of pregnancy.

G A: A travesty this is closing. Was by far the best gym in York, friendly staff, great cafe, brand new equipment, hygienic, great vibe and atmosphere. Please reconsider!

Louise Atkinson: Without doubt best gym I’ve ever been to.It looks sleek and modern, all the equipment is new and well maintained and all the staff and other members are really friendly, the people watching out of the window while you’re doing cardio is an added bonus! Honestly couldn’t recommend this place highly enough.

Carrie-Ann Hallett: I was a member for the year in 2022 and unfortunately recently ended this due to moving house, but will definitely be returning on individual passes when I visit the city centre. A stunning gym, beautifully set out, new equipment and the friendliest PTs. Classes are great, diverse offering, great times and the coaches make them accessible for all fitness levels. Nat and Charlotte really get to know each individual to help you challenge yourself to reach your goals. The 6.45 class group are such a friendly bunch and create a welcoming and motivational space to work out. The cafe food is consistently delicious and a great place for a coffee if you fancy a change from working from home. Lydia puts on some great gym socials too on a regular basis if you’re looking to meet new, likeminded people in York! To top it all off the changing rooms are lovely and there’s even a sauna hidden away that you can book. Supersonic goes above and beyond your standard gym!

Susie Wood: Supersonic is a welcoming oasis of calmness in the middle of York. The classes are great and the staff always treat you as if you’re really special. During lockdown, I hurt my shoulder and was able to visit supersonic for a massage with Nat. A few visits with her care and attention soon saw me back to normal. I now regularly visit for a sports massage and regard it as an essential part of my fitness regime. Thanks to Nat, I always look forward to the next visit.

Victoria Freedman: which was amazing to learn how to use the equipment safely and effectively - it also allows me to use piece of equipment I wouldn't have felt able to approach before. All round great gym - it is definitely great value for everything you get!

Irene Condemi: I spent most of my life convinced that I hate to work out, and one day I had a barre class with Charlotte that changed everything - She is a great teacher, she helps me pushing myself but at the same time she is super kind and supportive. The yoga classes with Rebecca are also superb, she is very knowledgeable and friendly, she pushes us during the class but at the same time she always make sure that we are comfortable with the practice, suggesting alternative poses when we are challenged. It is a very positive and supportive environment, I am definitely signing up!

Sarah Diggle: Doing the classes at YPP is so beneficial for both my physical and mental well-being. It’s the best form of physical activity I’ve ever done. The teachers are excellent, it’s well organised, the studio is lovely and the classes are friendly.

AC: Lou and her YPP are a fantastic Pilates studio. I’ve attended for some time, following a surgery and also pre and post natal. As a physio myself I am extra critical. Lou is experienced with the complex and specific pre and post natal needs of women. The exercises and classes are targeted and effective, without unnecessary stress on the body.I credit the classes for keeping me from pregnancy aches and pains, managing any niggles quickly, and feeling myself after birth.And the classes are friendly, relaxed and a great way to meet people, especially as a new mum!

Rose Temple: The postnatal pilates really helped my recovery after having my daughter. I found the classes just the right level of challenge and there is a lovely friendly atmosphere too!

Charlotte Anderson: I've attended the post natal mum and baby Pilates class on Fridays for several months now and feel like it has helped my post natal recovery massively, particularly healing my core muscles. Imogen is a great teacher and takes care to observe and correct you as you do the exercises. It is also a lovely space to meet other mums and babies, often with a coffee and chat after!

Carol Milana: I’ve been going to classes 2 or 3 times a week at YPP for quite a while now, both in the studio & on zoom. The classes, whilst challenging, are always enjoyable with modifications for different abilities. The teachers are all fabulous, I wouldn’t go anywhere else now!

Jessica Mosley: Great flexibility and range of class types and times. I started with lower back problems and haven't had any problems since. Imogen's classes are just the right level of demanding and she really pays attention to whether you are doing each exercise correctly. Wouldn't be without Pilates now!

Rachel How: I really enjoy Imogen's classes. She's a great teacher with clear instructions and she's careful to check that we're all doing the right thing. I joined YPP after several years at another pilates studio and am very happy that it's just as good! The flexible membership is an added perk.

Hannah Gray: Love, love, love Liz's 7.30am props class on a Friday morning! A chance to put my working week behind me and work through all the aches and niggles that sitting at a desk can bring. Get's me out of bed and sets me up for the day. Liz's patience and kindness when my small children also join me on screen and join in the exercises is really appreciated.

Amy Curtin: YPP are amazing! They were recommended by a colleague, and after doing their 'Intro to Pilates' course I haven't missed a week. The teachers are very good, always providing modifications and helpful personalised feedback. After sitting all day at a desk, class really helps with any back pain I've built up.

Liz has a beautifully calm way of easing us through the exercises, even the some of the trickiest, and I now find I can do more than I thought I could! I couldn't recommend this class more highly.

It's good to meet other pregnant people and she offers postnatal classes which I am sure will be excellent as well. Claire Preston: I started Hotpod yoga in October 2022 from a position of having tried some yoga in the past but never having had a regular practice. I was carrying a few injuries and wanted to try something gentler to tide me over, and now I'm addicted and come 3 times a week. I find the darkness of the pod and the heat make the practice really immersive and I like the fact that the classes follow a basic pattern with enough variation to keep things interesting. The teachers always make newcomers feel at ease and you can take a break whenever you need. I find Vix's classes always allow me to progress a little with strength and flexibility, and there is always time to check understanding or ask for help afterwards. Plus there are regular special events as well to try things like breathwork, ice baths and flexibility workshops. I only wish I'd found it sooner!

They made me feel very comfortable despite being a total beginner.There are a lot of different classes available so you can easily fit it in your day even if you have a bit of a "different" schedule. Stephanie Rutherford: I was inspired to start aerial skills when I saw some of them at the theatre but was so nervous to start, however after getting in touch with Zoe I decided to push myself out of my comfort zone. Zoe has made me believe that anyone can do aerial skills. I go as regularly as I can and my progress has been amazing. I remember not being able to get on the hoop and now I am keen to try out the new amazing positions she teaches us each week. Classes are welcoming and relaxed. Deborah Plant: I joined Denny for an online Yoga session being a complete beginner but realizing I need to prioritize my wellbeing and Yoga is something I've always wanted to try. Denny's approach is extremely comforting and welcoming and I will continue to do my sessions and look forward to them.

Nicola Perez: My yin practice on a Monday evening with Denny is one of the highlights of my week. It's uplifting and restorative. I leave feeling lighter, calmer and at peace. I cannot recommend it enough.

Duncan Groombridge: I took a friend to Denny’s for his 50th birthday to do some Wim Hof breathing followed by an ice bath! Although my friend is very holistic in his approach to life I was a little bit more sceptical. All I can say is I was very pleasantly surprised. Denny was very warm and welcoming and it was clear that she was very well informed and knowledgeable on the science of the subject. The deep breathing that I was dreading was actually very relaxing and both my friend and I were surprised at how long we actually could hold our breath for! Following this we moved on the the ice bath and again using the breathing techniques we’d practiced the hour before we found out that we could overcome our fear. Once we’d done our 2 minutes we came out feeling absolutely buzzing. A bit of “horse dance” to warm us back up again we felt great. The set up and the facilities were first class. We even got to warm up in the sauna afterwards! Thanks Denny for a great experience. I would definitely recommend you!

Oliver Hudson: A good friend took me to see Denny as a 50th birthday present, and we had the most wonderful morning experiencing the 'Wim Hof Method' for the very first time. Denny welcomed us warmly into her beautiful studio, where she taught us and then guided us through the breathwork before taking us through to her stunning spa where we quickly needed to put the breathwork into practice as we sat in her ice bath for 2 minutes! We soon warmed up in the sauna followed by a hot shower. A superb experience that I would love to repeat, and I would highly recommend both Denny herself, and the Wim Hof experience.
