Bedern Hall: what do users think?

Chell Sharpe: Went for afternoon tea, service was impeccable, food was lovely.

Wilma Thomson: had specially prepared a beautiful array of food. You could tell that everything was prepared with love, the quiche was beautiful! Everything was homemade, totally delicious and plenty of choice. Thank you so much for such a lovely experience.

Jasmin Kiechle: I was lured in by the promise of lavender scones, which were absolutely delightful! Shortly after I arrived, a group of what I assume retired locals came in - always a good sign! And that was confirmed. My cream tea was absolutely delicious. I'm glad I walked by randomly and decided to get some late breakfast. If I were from here and not just visiting I would likely become a regular!

Tamara: Lovely old hall!

Josh: Lovely gem buried in the heart of York, great for small groups but only small groups.

Jennifer Gent: Lovely little hidden gem.

Leang Michael: 5*Nice

jo li: A lovely discovery outside the hustle and bustle of York. A beautifully restored medieval hall, especially worth seeing for the ceiling vault with the original beams. We also received expert explanations from a friendly local lady. Then we had a very tasty scone and cake on the terrace. Highly recommended, especially when it is very busy in the center

Angela Halliwell: Went for belated Ruby wedding gift of afternoon tea. Wonderful service, food and history.

Laurence Lines: Great place delightful afternoon tea served by very friendly staff

jane dale: Had a wonderful afternoon tea and a chance to look at the fascinating Bedern Hall

Melissa Hoggarth: was very responsive and accommodating. I absolutely love that Bedern Hall is such a hidden gem in the centre of York, just a few minutes' walk around the corner from the Minster.Thank you so much Bedern Hall, you made our wedding a day to remember.

Deborah Barton: Lovely aftermoon tea. A hidden gem of York.

Paul Walker: This place is a must to visit if you visiting York

Yorkshire Heart Vineyard & Brewery: what do users think?

Rosie Iona: We did a wine tour and tasting followed by lunch. It was such a lovely experience and so clear how passionate Chris is about it and how hard the whole team work! Would definitely reccomended as a day out! Lovely wine and we took quite a few bottles home to continue the tasting!

Danielle Vermeer: An experience like no other in the heart of York. The hosts were passionate about their work and we felt like there were no silly questions to ask. Treated to a selection of delicious wines that were brewed on site and given a tasting board to try along side them to see how different flavours paired with each.We had food afterwards that was well worth the price and offered more wines and a port to taste, couldn't help but buy the port and a bottle of sparkling red, both were outstanding! We will definitely be visiting again when the vines are in full bloom and hopefully be bringing some friends along to experience the fine art of winemaking and tasting in such a surprising location.Had fun, incredibly informative and friendly host and staff who we were able to have a good laugh with and no task was too much.

Ed Gallacher: Had a great night and winery tour. Lovely wines and food to be had. They could not do enough for you. Small negative point was the tables were too close together. Elbow room and personal space a little limitedSecond day tasting cellar door 3 types with tapas. Lovely again lovely wines food and beer on tap.Definitely worth a visit. Just don't camp !!

Arianne Morris: We went to an evening at the vineyard. Had a lovely little tour and delicious 3 course meal. Would highly recommend. Good informative and engaging tour. Lovely delicious 3 course meal. And very nice wine.

Benjamin Ghatt: Now, I haven’t actually visited this establishment yet, however, on a stroll through the York market this weekend, I stumbled across a bottle of their Vale of York pale ale from a stall operated by Fredrick’s.I got it home cracked it open and man is it good, it’s strong, full bodied and well balanced and unlike any pale ale I’ve had! It’s sweet and nutty to start with a bitter fruit finish! I’m a lover of Belgian beers like Kasteel and La Trapp etc. this is in its own category but right up there in quality, mouthfeel and satisfaction!! Well done! On the strength of this tasting alone I shall be visiting in due course!! Many thanks!!

Paige Cuthbertson: 5* experience. Came for the cellar door wine tasting tour with my best friend as a gift for my birthday. Highly recommend, the tapas plates were gorgeous and the wine was delicious. The staff that run it are absolutely lovely and it’s such a relaxed environment. Don’t hesitate to book and enjoy your experience. We will definitely be back

Adam: Had a great time on the wine tour, Chris was very engaging and his enthusiasm for wine making shone through! The wine tasting was enjoyable and tasted great, so much so we couldn’t leave without buying a few bottles to take home. We had the afternoon tea which was lovely, everything was freshly made. Great experience to celebrate our wedding anniversary!

Brian Moss: We did the wine tour at the end of January 2024. Chris the host and owner of the business did a great job of entertaining us. His passion for his winemaking and his vines shine through which made this an enjoyable experience for true wine fanatics. included in our package was wine tasting and food of which there was plenty. I would highly recommend, maybe in the summer months to catch the beauty of these vineyards.

kevin Grainger: Brilliant

michael thompson: nice place

Dave Morris: Excellent Beers as good as you will get in Yorkshire

The Normans: what do users think?

Emily Dinsdale: If you’re after a stress free, rustic yet chic wedding venue which is run by an amazing team, then look no further than The Normans. This is such a special and unique wedding venue. From the serenity of the beautiful ceremony barn to the party atmosphere created in the Grain Shed barn, with lots of other cosy areas to relax in the cow stalls and bar areas, this place has it all. The team at the Normans really add to your whole experience of planning your wedding to make it as stress free as possible. We cannot recommend it enough to anyone considering their wedding here.

Kez and Pete: The Normans is an incredible wedding venue and Normans team excel themselves. This is like no other barn wedding venue, it truly is one of a kind. There is onsite accommodation for the couple which is beautiful with plenty of space for the bride and her team to get ready. The catering company used by the Normans ‘Hog and Apple’ is to the standard of high restaurant quality with excellent service provided too. The venue itself is beautiful but it is the people working there who really make the Normans more special. We can’t thank the team enough especially Sharon and her husband who coordinated the day for us, you were both so kind and caring, created a stress free day, putting us at ease to make sure we enjoyed our day to the max. Thank you very so much for helping us have the best day.

Anne-Marie Robinson: The decor was beautiful both outside and in - loved the thousands of fairy lights which made everywhere sparkle. Staff were very friendly. The food was delicious, there was plenty of it and it arrived hot. Fantastic day - would highly recommend.

Sue Drakett: Fab pre wedding tasting event with hog and apple catering

Fiona Greenough: From start to finish the staff at The Normans were amazing! we had the most magical day. The venue is absolutely stunning and everyone goes above and beyone to make sure your day is perfect! One of the pros to this venue is that you have it the day before and after the wedding so setting up and packing away is stress free! There is so much flexibility, you're able to add so many personal touches and there are different spaces available within the venue to suit all your guests. 100% would recommend and if we did it all again, we wouldn't change a thing!

Stuart Perry: Fabulous venue, everyone was so friendly and welcoming. Thoroughly recommend having your wedding here

Alison Brook: Wonderful xx

Philip Rycroft: The Normans proved to be an excellent choice by our daughter for her wedding this past Saturday. The venue itself is beautiful with reclaimed buildings both for the service and the celebration. They have recently added a new Bar area with a splendid log burner - on a cold frosty day this was a fantastic feature. We had plenty of time the day before to set things up and personalise the grain shed where the meal and speeches were held. There are two cottages integral to the site - one for the Brides party and another for close friends and family. They are very well equipped and furnished which added to the enjoyment of the event. Catering was provided by a recommended company and our guests all commented on how good and interesting the food was. Finally, the most important point is the care and attention delivered by the owners and all their staff. Communication was spot on right from the booking and on the day - Sharon - Events Manager was on hand, proactive without being intrusive. It was a fabulous day for our daughter and her now new husband. Philip.

Gavin Rugg: Got married at The Normans in November 2023. Cannot speak more highly of the staff and the venue. The venue is incredibly well thought out and the staff were superb from the initial viewing right through to the days after the wedding. Our suppliers commented on how impressed they were with the staff at The Normans, going above and beyond what they've seen at other venues.

Rob Dudley: Firstly WOW what a place to get married. If your looking for a venue with it all set in one place this is certainly the venue for you. The ceremony barn is incredible with its character and the perfect backdrop to say your I Do’s. With everything based around the central courtyard there is so many amazing spaces to move around the day. The Grain Shed where we had our wedding breakfast is the perfect space for everyone to enjoy their food and dance away the night. The bar is perfectly placed next to the dance floor that keeps your guests dancing all the way to the end of the night. The whole venue gives you the option to have as many or as little decorations as you like. We went very minimal because the venue certainly does the talking. The Catering they have at The Normans provided by Hog and Apple is soooo good. We went with there famous wooden sharing boards and the food was delicious. We had a lot of people coming up to us saying this is some of the best wedding food they had ever had.The bridal suit was perfect to get ready in, there was all the facilities that you needed and a beautiful room where the bride and bridemaids could get ready, with plenty of space for hair and makeup artists. Having accommodation on site made us feel so at ease knowing that everything was in one place. Not only that the staff are incredible with everything from initial viewing all they way to your wedding day. Sharon and Oliver are always so helpful and nothing is a problem for them. They made our special day run so smoothly and we really appreciated all they did for us.This was the only venue we went and saw and we cant think of how any other venue could top this. The perfect wedding venue!!

Alan Massey: A really nice, well presented and classy venue for a wedding.

Oscar Archer: The Normans was the absolute perfect venue for our wedding - we knew as soon as we visited on a viewing that we wanted to get married here. Oliver, Sharon and the team are so organised and made everything run so smoothly in the build up and planning, on the day and sorting everything out afterwards. We've also had so many comments from guests saying how much they enjoyed the venue - we can't recommend it enough.

Becky Thomson: We recently got married at The Normans and wouldn't hesitate recommending it to other couples wishing to get married!Sharon, Oliver and Dave are fantastic people who couldn't do enough to help make everything leading up to the wedding and on the day itself go smoothly. We're so thankful for their hard work and care in making our wedding day so special. The venue itself is beautiful. 20 minutes outside of York with plenty of accommodation a taxi ride away, The Normans has plenty of space to use. After having our ceremony in the ceremony barn, we enjoyed our drinks reception in the courtyard followed by use of the grain shed and cow stalls for our wedding breakfast and evening. Words don't do it justice so go and see it for yourself!Thank you to the team for such a brilliant experience! Hopefully see you again soon!

Rosie Charlesworth: We would recommend The Normans to anyone wanting a rustic farm aesthetic, from the very start Oliver and the team were so helpful and responsive to our questions. On the day Oliver was on hand to guide us through the day and make sure that everything was running smoothly. We were able to access the venue the day before to get everything set up, and the day after the wedding all our decorations had been packaged up for us and left in the cow stalls to pack back into the cars - super easy! The venue itself is stunning and doesn't need much in the way of decoration, but it's also easy to put your own stamp on the place. We stayed in the on-site cottages the night before the wedding, which were really handy with the bridal cottage having a purpose built dressing room with plenty of mirrors, natural light and plug sockets! The other cottage was a perfect base for the groom to get ready with the best man and his family too and made it super easy when the registrar came to speak to us before the ceremony. Highly recommend The Normans, wish we could do it all over again!

Nikko: The Normans is a beautiful wedding venue and it was hard to beat in comparison to other venues around North Yorkshire! Oliver, Sharon and the team at The Normans were amazing and so helpful to us leading up to the wedding and on the day! We wish you the best of everything in the future and we hope to visit again to enjoy it as guests!

Merchant Taylors' Hall: what do users think?

Eve Graham: and a S African man working there told my then fiancé to run / marriage is a mistake / get out whilst he can. Evidently my now husband, thankfully, brushed him off and married me! We went to a handful of wedding fairs / open days and this wasn’t the reception we elsewhere when enquiring.I’ve met some of the ‘merchants’ and they’ve been incredibly enthusiastic and interesting to talk to about the history. They and the building itself sold it to us on a visit during York Residents’ Weekend. If you’re expecting a wedding venue like others you’ll be disappointed ie there’s no support or guidance. When we booked and paid we got confirmation a week or so later

Rich B: Wonderful medieval guild hall. Only open to the public on a few days each year but well worth putting the dates in your diary and visiting, if you are able to.

Andy Moulam: Great venue

Andrew David: Great communication from Michael and beautiful venue

glenn sargent: Excellent, attractive venue if party is sized 80 to 100, beautiful wood beams and stained glass etc. Good staff too

honky tonkman187: Great venue, but food was very poor

Diana Frazer: A wonderful place for a function . Coal/log fire in the winter, and such an interesting old venue.

Mandy harrison: Lovely architecture, beautiful building , lovely for weddings

GRAHAM BARLOW: Lovely Guildhall steeped in history

Rachel Mills: Beautiful venue for my friends evening wedding event.

john J.A.Tavender: A beautiful medieval hall, you can feel the history just standing there

john kerbotson: We have a yearly reunion there for quite a long time this year was a compleat disaster by the proprietors the bar was not just poorly stocked it had really nothing to sell, the food as always had been excellent, this time it was a disaster and value for money was a joke it was take it or leave it AS I DID.

Peter Sinclair: Beautiful piece of history

Ryedale Vineyards: what do users think?

Chris Cook: it was all in all a wonderful experience.

Dawn Watson: Gifted a vineyard tour for 2 and came up from Buckinghamshire. Very entertaining, informative and great to see a succeeding family business. Continue with the innovations and good luck for the next medal competitions.

Claire E.: Fantastic vineyard with good quality, award winning wines, harvested and bottled locally. Fun, educational tours with delicious food, too. Jon, Michelle and Jack are very friendly and knowledgeable too. It's a great day out. Pop along to their on-site wine and cider shop.

Jane Holmes: A wine tour was a gift for me and one other. I added in afternoon tea. The tour was really informative, lively and executed with a real love of the business. The glasses used in the wine tasting were generously filled and a little story attached to most of them. The few hours were an absolute delight and I would recommend visiting the winery.

Richard Murphy: Went on the wine tasting tour on the 4th Aug 23. Jack and his farther were great guide. Jack was very knowledgeable on the vineyard and production of the wine. We had booked to stop at the property over night. the hosts were fantastic, the room was very comfortable. The breakfast was fantastic. The host went above and beyond looking after their guests. Fantastic time had by myself and partner. Would highly recommend this wine tasting tour. The B&B was outstanding, and very quite due to the rural location. 10/10 to Ryedale vineyard.Would stop again definitely. Thanks to all at Ryedale for a great time.

Wayne Beedle: What a great little place with outstanding hospitality. Lovely family willing to share their lives and insight. We had the pleasure of an overnight stay and the wine tasting and tour. Both were incredibly homely and a lovely experience. Scones on arrival were a delicious surprise and the breakfast was just perfect. Jack did the wine tour. We’ve done a few of these but never learnt so much. He was great and along with the family a pleasure to spend time with. Thank you for a great stay!Who’d have thought you could do this in Yorkshire. Northern hospitality at its best.

Anthony Osborne: Absolutely loved this place everyone so friendly nothing too much trouble. We stayed one night the Pheasant room so nice and a wine tour in the afternoon very informative and so funny down to earth people and we would love to go again can't recommend enough.

Ian Holt: And that's how a tour should be done. We were shown around by the son, he was very very knowledgeable about all the processes and told us how it was all done by hand...how he finds to sleep is beyond me.Set in beautiful surroundings which are well manicured and looked after. The cheese tasting board included was a brilliant touch. The shop and wine is competitively priced and well worth the purchase as all the wines are beautiful. We have never been big white drinkers but even this was a cracker so we bought some of that as well. All in all 10/10, from the family who are super friendly to the wine at the end it's a superb experience. Well done.

Bob Kingdom: Saw Folksytheatre the tempest it was brilliant lovely venue just seen Much ado about nothing wonderful

gond orod: Brilliant wine tour and tasting. Very humorous hosts. Plan how to get home. Really good value couple of hours

Adrian Jackson: Very enjoyable.

Lisa K: Great wine tasting and tour of the vineyard. Nice wines and cider, and we loved the plum wine cocktail! Lovely family, really had a great afternoon and would definitely recommend this experience!

C You: Expectations surpassed, even having read all of the reviews before coming! Incredibly friendly family business. Wine tour and tasting was generous and very interesting. Even had cheese, scones and a bit of curry included! We had the pleasure of staying in the B and B which was worth the 9 month wait - very quaint and breakfast one of the best we’ve had. Will definitely be recommending to friends and family!

Martin: We volunteered to pick grapes for the wine vintage. We lovely location. Nice people, delicious lunch and surprisingly good wines

paul escritt: Location: 5/5

Nicole Hibbert: I attended a wedding as a bridesmaid on the 19th August and was really happy with the venue and the day as a whole! A lovely venue in a beautiful place! Location: 5/5 …

Amanda Hamilton: I recently attended a 3 day yoga retreat at Deighton Lodge. Beautiful place, Carla, Debbie and all of the staff so friendly. Yoga classes were really enjoyable. However, I booked a massage there which was not enjoyable. I was sharing the treatment room with a stranger and person doing my full body massage was male, I was not made aware of either of these factors prior to my treatment. I did not enjoy the massage, I felt quite uneasy and tense throughout. Not the experience I was expecting for £65.00.Other ladies I spoke with felt the same way.

Harriet Taylor: Had my wedding here last week and what a venue. As well as being a stunning place, Sally and the team were incredible in helping us pull the day together and in making sure it ran smoothly. The house and accommodation was top-notch, clean, well-stocked and comfortable. The barn is a spectacle and a lovely blank canvas for couples to put their own stamp on! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!

richard wheatley: Atmosphere: 5/5

Phoenixpooh: and very well prepared. Some cocktails are available at 2 for £9.50. I would definitely visit again when next in York and would recommend that you visit as well. Reservations available.

Cycle Sid: and a service charge had been added. I had to ask the server if the total already included a service charge at payment. Don’t get me wrong, I would not begrudge the staff their tip as the service was quick, friendly and polite and up to the same high standard as the food, but it would be nice to have the bill checked or explained prior to making payment. In conclusion, we will eat here every time we are in York, I would even go so far as to say we might even make a trip to York just to go to 1331!

Groanz: Like all the hospitality businesses in the UK, they seemed very understaffed. However, the waitress was amazing. She was sweet, got us seated right away and thought with us about a possible other table that would be better for us. Drinks and food came fast and the atmosphere was good. Food was typical comfort food and the portion size was very big. Loved the place and we would definitely visit again when we're in York.

Ms Crome: We were lucky enough to have our wedding here. Also lucky to have beautiful weather, so we had the ceremony outdoors.Alice and Elaine have been so supportive throughout the whole process of organising the day and were there for the day to make sure everything went well.Throughout the organisation of the day, poor Elaine had me emailing her at all hours in panics and always helped us out with calmness.Everyone here is so lovely. The views are stunning! It's a perfect place for a wedding. We had the perfect day. Thank you Elaine and team! Xxxx

Jenny Chappel: What a lovely place. Great staff and beautiful views. We'll worth a visit

Emma Long: Cannot fault the wine. Attended a wine and cheese evening, absolutely cracking cheese with superb wines.Carry on folks doing what your doing, we are blessed to have yet another great venue in our much growing village.

Ken Ashton: First time visiting and was really impressed, lovely setting with friendly staff, I would absolutely recommend if you're passing by.

Angel Wings: Great place, visited for a birthday party, lovely place with perfect views. Good variety of non alcoholic drinks, bar staff great and knowledgeable. Toilets immaculate and food lovely. Plenty parking spaces. Needs a few more signs on the road leading up to the venue and on the direct path you drive on as at first it's a track, field road and its hard to navigate the right path to drive on if your new to the place as I sow a few cars drive up the wrong path and end up in a field.

Hayley: however Alice and the team managed it perfectly on our behalf so we didn’t have to get involved to which I am grateful. It is very emotional seeing your little girl get married and I couldn’t think of any where else I would rather have done it. Everyone is still about the fireworks!Thank you so much to Alice and her team for helping to create such amazing memories. We will be back up soon to have some more of your gorgeous wine. X

Alex Bates: The view is like nothing else offered within the local and regional area. The venue is newly constructed and stunning and the staff are friendly and very helpful. 100% must visit.

Aaron Hobday: A hidden gem, with excellent wine

Keith Badham: Very informative enjoyable and well presented , lovely day 😀

Matthew Gilbert: Amazing experience at the Little Wold Vineyard, I bought the cheese and wine experience for my parents as a Christmas present and they loved it! Staff were really friendly and made the experience even better!

Tom Beastall: Played a wedding gig here recently and it’s a phenomenal hidden gem. Just glorious surroundings. I picked up a few of their wines whilst I was there. This little beauty just accompanied the most perfect picnic. Either get yourself there, and if you can’t do that, order some of their amazing wines. We’re lucky to have places like this so let’s make sure we support them.

Mike Woolmer: We strongly recommend a visit to the Mansion House. The warmth of welcome. The professionalism and knowledge of the front of house team and the guide. The vivid stories of the house in particular the dining room, the table settings and the food served. Also the history of York during those times put all into context. The kitchen the food, china and silverware storage areas etc so much to take in.The use of the Tablet and purchase of the Guidebook which is extremely good value helped during our visit. Overall a memorable visit all made possible by the Mansion House team of volunteers

Emma Holliday: We attended the "Spookeasy" for ghost week and it was such an enjoyable night and a great way to learn the history of York Mansion House and its Lord Mayors! The staff put on a great show and exploring the Mansion House to find all the clues was really fun. The drinks were also reasonably priced which was nice as sometimes venues make them very expensive.
