Paul Brennan: At the York vintage festival at YORK race coarse over two days went on Saturday 29 th April 2023 was a good day vintage from the 1930s to 1960s people from all different subcultures mostly 1940s style and 1950s people there with classic cars and classic motorbikes. Good to see the Teddy Boy's in attendance 😍
Jessica Quarmby: Dog-friendliness: Great space for the dogs to run, nearly always meet other friendly dogs.Picnic area: Little area with a coffee stand
Kath Bassett: Trusty spot for beer, food and friends.
Ben Potter: Nice open space to walk, run, play football etc.
Coach Cadden: The Premier Charity Boxing event in York.
Geoffrey Du: One of the best parkruns
Iain Hardie: York Racecourse is a great venue, good parking and accessibility
Oliver Stewart: Lovely social space. Dog walkers families and sports.
Lee Toone: Very wonderful place to have a picnic or have a good walk. its nice to still see open areas like this in more built up areas. I would recommend a visit.
Mary Padgett: Total tat
Glenn Atkins: Great course good food
Louise M O'Higgins: Best dog run ever
Sean Harte: Looking a little dated now, very little in the way of food and drink on a non Race day (I attended Vapnartak 2023). Loads if parking, though it is essentially in a field but it's free at least so I'll take that as a massive positive.
Rob Brookes: Dog-friendliness: Good for dog exercising
Jo Martin: Very muddy but great place to exercise dogs. Wish there was a toilet block gir doggy owners!
Graeme Sherwood: Great place to walk my dogs
Bryan Wootten: New Year's morning parkrun. Great community event, sun was shining some of the time! Brisk but nice start to the day!
Magdalena Sobolewska: Dog-friendliness: Great space for dog walks, running, walking, star gazing.Picnic area: Lots of space but no benches. You need a blanket but that is a beauty of picnic
Susan Richardson: Great to walk your dog on here
Paula Turner: Nice green space near the city centre, lots of big trees.
Bruce pawson: Great place, lots of things take place here from concerts to home exhibitions like Living North twice a year, and of course there's the horse racing too.And it's the starting point for the York 10k. And I believe they hold a park run here every Saturday morning.

Up & Running York: what do users think?
Ziggy Sheppard: My home town has no specialist running shop so, when I discovered this shop while on holiday, I popped in and got my running gait analysed. Steve couldn’t have been more helpful and informative. He gave me some ideas about where to run locally and even gave me a discount for being a ParkRun member. I now have a new running watch and know the correct shoes that I should be wearing.Thank you so much.
Mark Halliday: Customer service from Richard in York store was exemplary. Couldn't wish for better service. Very knowledgeable. Super friendly.
Simon whittaker: Extremely helpful and answered all my questions
Tony Simmonds: I purchased a new pair of running shoes in January. I can't praise highly enough the knowledge and care taken by the man who looked after me. He got me on the treadmill each time I tried a new pair, created a short film, then took me through each one to explain how the right shoes would correct my gait - no cost for that, endless patience. Thank you.
Jacob Ward: Incredible service. Had a problem with my knee and I was given a perfect explanation what was going wrong with my current running shoes that was causing the pain and taken through a variety of different options, reviewing on the treadmill each time until we found the right pair to get me back running without pain. Shopping online for all of this stuff is pointless as it's so complex and suited to the individual. Going into the shop you have a tailor made service and learn what you need. Thanks for today, looking forward to getting out in my new trainers!
Jan Storr: Overpriced
Gary Fowell: Called into Up and Running York store today to look at purchasing a pair of running shoes for the London Marathon in April. Andrew saw me looking and came over to offer his assistance. After a brief conversation during which I explained a problem with my knee Andrew proceeded to explain what was going on with my leg. He looked at my current trainers and explained clearly what the issue might be.Andrew then proceeded to bring out a pair of trainers for me to try and put me on a treadmill and explained from the filming what the issue was and for the first time ever I could see exactly what he was explaining with my own eyes !I was then given another couple of pairs of trainers to try and each time it was filmed. From the videos we made a choice for me as I could see exactly the difference the trainers made.Andrew did not sell me the most expensive trainers he could have done, instead he sold me the trainers that were right for me. Did that cost Up and Running .... absolutely not ! Whenever I need anything for my running endeavours Up and Running will be the first place I would travel to (25 miles) and I would absolutely recommend them to anyone.Thank you Andrew, you provided an exceptional service with great advice. A credit to the store.
Daniel Marfiewicz-Dickinson: Went to buy running shoes with my partner here and left very satisfied. Despite being busy, the staff noticed that we needed some assistance and came up for a chat. Then they pulled out all of the stops to make sure that my partner had the best fit they possibly can, including using a treadmill to examine their gait. Definitely a place I'd be coming back to if I were in need of some serious running shoes.
sue sharpe: I was served by Barney today, helpful, patient, knowledgeable. Came home with some Brooks Ghosts today.
Aaron Cranmer: I have been struggling with calf and achilles problems for a couple of years tried lots of different trainers , I went in on the off chance and spoke with the staff, I wanted a trail shoe that had decent support and cushioning and some reasonable heel drop ,the younger staff struggled to suggest anything suitable probably just inexperience though they did try and were very helpful, luckily the manager knew exactly what to suggest and sorted me out with a pair of brooks caldera 6's they're fantastic I haven't had any achilles or calf issues since getting them , I will be going back to see them for another pair soon , thank you .
Carl Bedford: Great advice with no pressure. Wonderful for someone new to running like me.
Sean Malarkey: Went in looking for some new running shoes and received great service from Stephen, really knowledgeable and helpful. Helped me pick shoes that fit best for what I was looking for and at a really reasonable price. Will be going back in for my next pair and would definitely recommend for others to go in and try shoes out on the treadmill.
gillian halliwell: Very helpfull staff who had good knowledge of running shoes
Marie Moss: Always outstanding service, staff are knowledgeable about products and so helpful. Barbara is a star 🌟
Andrew Backer: Nice selection of shoes not found at other shops, and a nice staff. Not much selection in clothes for men., but some basics are there.
Tim Warren: Popped into store for some new trainers today. I’ve been to a running specialist store before but this is the first time I’ve had my gait reassessed with every pair I tried on to see how it affected my running. 10/10 for knowledge and helpfulness. Looking forward to getting out in my new shoes!
Jo Leadbetter: Staff were really helpful and the promotional offer for York Marathon/10 mile runners was a nice surprise. The trainers seem really excellent quality and are tailored to my running style.
Fabian Basker: Sure such a high rating speaks for itself. Despite being a keen fan of running I had, prior to this never been into a running-specific dedicated store. I would be more than happy if any other were half as good as this place. I picked up a high-quality minimalist running hydration vest that I plan on using for longer runs - can't wait to try it out. It was also priced very reasonably. :) Thank you.
Rob Yarrow: Friendly, helpful and knowledgeable staff. Great service and quality items. Thank you Amy for all your help.
Lorraine Gell: Needed replacement running shoes and have shopped here before. Got what I needed with knowledgeable and helpful service. Great to be able to try shoes out and have gait assessment on their treadmill.
Rachel: Really helpful staff, loving my new running trainer. They feel so much better than my old ones

Lee Toone: Lovely and very relaxing place to visit.

Cory Mason: Friendly staff, clean premises and very welcoming.
Carol Rushby: Nice walk around the park and to finish with a visit to the cafeDog-friendliness: Dogs are ok on leads in the park but the cafe doesn't allow them inside the cafe , which is a shame
Daniel Booth: Beautiful park which has plenty to see and do and is well maintained by a brilliant team of local volunteers. Lovely to visit at all times of the year and the lake, play area and gardens are amazing too. It's great that they have a skate park, toilets, a cafe plus sports courts as well. Just a nice place to be.
Ian Bone: Great park, I can imagine it would be fabulous in the summer rather than muddy in the winter
Steve Grief: Restrooms: Not very clean
wee gems: A peaceful park can spend 30 minutes or however long you wish. There is a small car park which you need to pay for. A play park near the car park. I was only there for about an hour, so didn't see everything. A few statues dotted around the place ponds, and a lovely looking canel, which had a nice bridge. Saw a few people walking their dogs, feeding the birds and ducks but didn't see any swans this time. I wish had longer to see the courts - tennis and basketball, and he rest.Playground: Has a medium size play groundPicnic area: Can eat on a blanket or the tables

Anne Stagg Hypnotherapy: I do love the Museum Gardens! There is always something new to see in the planting and of course the ruins are great to explore.Visiting today, a Bank Holiday, it was busy but not crowded. For anyone unsteady on their feet please be aware that the Gardens are over different levels but slopes are very gentle.PS Look out for the cheeky squirrels; they love to be photographed!

Beautiful
Carlos Bravo: Demasiado hermoso
D K: Beautiful gardens to wonder around or sit down to watch the world go by. Popular in the summer where people sit on the grass with a picnic.
Matthew Hartland: This is a peaceful spot in the heart of York. Just in need of a little tlc after the winter. Well worth a visit.
Stephen B: Peaceful and quiet mostly, small groups and lots of people sitting reading or soaking up some early summer sun. Occasionally interrupted by teens or folks that can't just enjoy the tranquility but they're few and far between
Tinali Garrett: Very beautiful spring flower display
Anastasiia Hill: A lovely place to walk in summer. You can have a picnic on the lawn. Not much to see in general as territory is limited

West Bank Park: what do users think?
Warren Goodwill: Nice open area.
Michał Zys: Playground
David Waddington: Playground: Really needs updating that's all I can say about this park , it's just a shame.
Catherine Pennels-Cronje: Lovely park with a great space for kids to play, including a little wooded area to walk in and explore.
Tim Drake: Great Park and the chap made my wife a lovely tea at the Bowls Club
Alex Bramwell: Beautiful place, walk my dog here every day
Carol Rushby: Lovely place to walk your 4 legged friend and you can sit and relax
Ray Chandler: Hidden gemDog-friendliness: Great for 🐕
Laura Byder: Lovely nice clean park.. could happily spend few hours there.
Emilia Wachowska: We love the place ☺️
James Ryan: A nice park, some great play things for the kids. The play park is in need of some repair with wooden poles for the kids to climb on rotten, to a point they move around. The zip wire is great fun, though!! The rest of the park is good, but the cafe only has 2 stars for hygiene.
John McCarthy: Restrooms: Best to avoid these!Dog-friendliness: Lovely spot for dogs. They need to be on the lead in the main areas, but lots of wooded areas for them to explore.
Shirley Milner: Hand fed the squirrels in the park and they were lots of them, lovely walk through the woods. A dog friendly park, very impressed and will visit again in the summer.
Ani Willis: Love going here. Split our time between the woods and the play park.
Sarah Lee: This is a really lovely park. It has everything you need and is a really enjoyable, attractive, safe space..It is a really big park and has 3 (I think) entrances/exits, all into the same space. It's been designed really well so that some of the open space has been split off with tall trees. There's loads of open grass for playing or picknicking and some goals have been placed in one area, for football. There's a more dense forest area. There's a lovely smaller square lawn area that is surrounded by really tall trees. There's a walkway through the middle that is covered in hanging foliage and flowers in the spring/summer. There are smaller, more private green areas split off, with benches. There's a small pond. There's a tennis/basketball court at one entrance. There's a playground at the other end with loads of equipment and a zip wire! There are 2 really well looked after bowling lawns and a clubhouse. There are toilets and a small cafe with a big noticeboard of events. Wednesday mornings (I think the 3rd of each month) is doggie Wednesday. There is a defibrillator on site. The park has won awards and there's no doubt it is loved and looked after. The beds are all planted really nicely. Thank you to all of the volunteers who maintain this beautiful space.
Debbie Tuck: Such a peaceful spot, I love walking here to enjoy this well kept park. I even managed to stop and have a hot drink in the little cafe today.. bliss
Majd H: Night vision pic without filtering.I will miss this place one day
Jason Kaine: Nice park for the kids and a cheap cuppa from the bowling boys!
Judith Bradshaw: Beautiful place for a walk
Gaz Th: Nice clean park kids love it
Fov: Good play park for kids. Lot of cans of strongbow scattered around though

Sports Direct: what do users think?
Rose Hana: If you are 100% sure that you will never need to return a product even if it is faulty come to this store, otherwise stay away from here!
Alice Rogers: Called in to browse their hiking backpacks with a view for buying one as a present, their ENTIRE selection was completely out of reach of anything but a staff member with a steep ladder at the top of their display. You can't buy without inspecting with a product like that. Dozey store planning and product placement. Went elsewhere.
Kim Jessop: Absolutely disgusted with the male staff who worked yesterday,a young lady on the till alone, huge queue of customers, she rang for assistance & the 3 males stood having a cuppa & chat totally ignored her,a lady from upstairs ran down to assist her & as I left the store confronted the 3 male staff & all they did was laugh.Well done to the 2 ladies for your hard work,as for the 3 males I've reported you, your an absolute disgrace!!
Graham Smith: Great selection of casual wear , low to mid price. Staff are a bit "laid back"
Susan Malloy: Brilliant, was in such a rush, but all staff fantastic and helpful. Saved the day, needed a pair of swimming trunks. Brilliant got them in sports direct thank you, you all saved my holiday.
Peter O'Sullivan: Never enough staff. It’s like a cattle market.
Jack: Great store, carries plenty of stock and the staff are friendly :-)
Dominika Słodka: Uprzejma i opanowana kasjerka. Niezła obsługa. Dużo promocji i spory asortyment.
Alex Burckhardt (Geek Fix Harrogate): Much better choice than the one in harrogate. Staff seemed friendly and certainly helpful. Place is huge so I'm sure anyone will find what they need 🤣
Mark Griffin: Cheap products and break easily. When said they are not designed to be dropped, why are they buying cheap plastic products that break when dropped from a child’s hand. Customer service not good
elvena browne: Lots of choice
Eric Porter: Reasonable outlet for sporting activities. Didn't have what I wanted. Out of stock. Didn't know when this item would be back in store. Helpful staff.
David Cooper: Same as any other Sports Direct
Stuart Hicken: Great service and good prices
Reg Sidebottom: Great Store and nice prices. Have been shopping there for years.
Tracy Turnbull: Got what I needed
paul baxter: Good value
Bob Guyll: Excellent shopping for essential winter micro fleece

Antony Savvas: The usual jumble sale of sportswear, but managed to find a couple of t-shirts for the boy at 20 quid.
Peter West-Hitchins: Sanitiser available, good & well priced product range...and cheerful staff! Bonus!!!

John Bird: Love the place, great atmosphere
Mistress D Doolalley: Lovely place. Enjoyed the cider. Live music on a school night too. Brilliant!
Leigh Davies: Lovely pub with friendly staff, food was nice too.
Green Rocker: Nice little pub,, good selection of beers, cans, bottles & droughts,,Outdoors seating area overlooking the York Outdoor Market, just stayed for a couple of beers but decent pub. Cheers.
derrick lambert: Nice little boozer for a visit, does food, its different, x
Barbara Bowen: What a great gem of a place this is. If you enter the premises via the Shambles it looks small but don't be fooled, it has a lot of seating areas at the back, upstairs and undercover outside where you can watch the hustle and bustle of the market. The staff are very friendly and helpful. They have a great variety of ales and drinks to choose from. I personally didn't eat there, but what food I did see looked good.
Steven Forrest: BAD and Good.BAD 1st. MINUS STARS for This woman member of Staff who was Very Rude to Me. Today. Friday 7th April. Between 1.15pm and 1.45p. I don't know her name, but she had Red hair (if Im correct?) She was Wearing all Black. A Snap On top. (Jumper I believe?) Black bottoms and Nike Air max trainers I believe. I went to the toilet, while my family ordered their drinks. After I went toilet, I ordered my Drink and Paid For Mine And My Families drinks at the bar and explained this to the Barman. We just finished doing a lot of Shopping. Loads of bags. As I'm walking Out This Member of Staff Says to me loudly in Front of Other Customers "Ain't You Got Drinks to Pay for?". I said I've sorted that Earlier with the Barman. The Barman Quickly Corrected her. He was Very Apologetic to Me. No Appology from this Woman member of Staff. Which I Found Wrong and Rude.2nd. Good. The Barman was and is Brilliant. 10 out of 10. Very Polite and Friendly. A Lady member of Staff. Always Friendly and Polite. Ive Been coming here when I'm in York for a few years. She is Always Polite, Helpful and Friendly. An Abosulute joy. Never Ever Rude. Just a Model member of Staff. 12 out of ten for Her. The Drink Selection is very Good here too. Very Unique. That Woman member of Staff Ruined my Vibe Today. But I will go back there because of Other members of Staff are Very Good there. 1 Bad Apple doesn't Spoil it for me This Time.
Susan Marshall: Just had the Cheese and Ham toasties with crisps and salad. Absolutely amazing, loved it!!! Staff are friendly, also knowledgeable about beers and wines. Will definitely come back again. 5/5
Colin Percival: Very compact, loved the double aspect, one side onto the Shambles other into the open market.
Nel Jay: Great little pub, very cosy and warm. Some nice food options here too tried the chilli con carne recently and it was lovely!

Sports Direct: what do users think?
Emily Barker: I usually love sports direct. But the York branch falls short. I couldn't find any staff.. I was there for over an hour and in the end I got mad and left. The upstairs department is ridiculously warm too.
Gemma Shelton: Went in to Sports Direct in York to buy a pair of Sketchers in the sale. Every member of staff I spoke to was polite and helpful. The young man that assisted me in the shoe department was wonderful. I didn't catch his name, but having spoken to Ash the Manager, he informed me it was likely Oliver. His service was brilliant, he was polite and cheery and couldn't have done more to help me.Thank you to Ash and his team for making it a great visit to your store :)
Scott Hamilton: Sold me a discount everer last tracksuit top and bottoms 46 quid she didn't give me a receipt I came back because the joggers starting bobbling after wearing for an hour they haven't even been through a wash ...wouldn't refund mebecause she never gave me the receipt discount clothes discount qaulity apparently discount service aswell !
Hussain Ahmed: Sport direct have horrible(unethical) return policy.I have bought a pair of shoes for someone as a present .the person didn't like the shoe we went to exchange with another pair which was £6 cheaper than the first pair .At first the customer assistance refuse to make the exchange. I had to argue about 15 minutes to change his mind .After that he handed me with an credit note which I have to spend it to their shop only .Just wondering what kind of return policy is this? This is a horrendous refund policy .
Jean Edwards: Just went for gift cards. The York city centre store is excellent. Plus helpful staff.
Helen Knott: No staff assiting with footwear, very poor service, walked out
Henry Price: Brilliant service by Caroline!
Sarah White: What happened to SD?!Used to love coming here and buying my tennis gear as well as running items for my partner. But my past 3 visits have been horrible. The staff are rude and unhelpful. When I went to return an item they told me no refund policy, only store credit. I found something online and it is £5 to have it delivered OR get it delivered to the store. Found the SAME item in store for twice the price so checked with sales person who proceeded to first tell me he 'doesn't know' so had a full on conversation over the tannoy with another person who said that it says on the website the same price. I showed the item on my phone, same item, code, colour and he shrugged his shoulders. Basically a nice scam to get people to spend more money, mmm ethical. The stores items are trash and expensive, they know they have better items online which comes with the £5 charge attached. Thank goodness designer outlet has good sports shops. There's a reason this huge store is rarely busy!
Olly Gronau: Nice and clean and very tidy. First time I've been since they moved. Looking good.
Jack: Brilliant customer service, nice and big store with a wide selection.
Thomas McEwan: Avoid like the plague. The staff are shocking and Sports Direct is a shambles anyway.
andrew antczak: Very good and fast customer service.
Oscar Lycan DragonTamer: Last time I went I got some cool gloves but don’t even bother trying to find nfl stuff, they only sell raiders and patriots.. a couple more in the kids section but they’re obviously too small for an adult and it’s the bare minimum
Natalie: Mohamed was absolutely fantastic helping to find trainers for my husband. He really went above and beyond! Such a pleasant & knowledgeable young man! One of the best!Thank you Mohamed! :)
Ian Fairhurst: Good place for sports equipment. Went into York store on 24th March 2022 great service. Was served by Jordan very polite and helpful.
Frances Curran: Not much use to visit if you are a lady golfer 😫
Ray Neal: Excellent choice, great price.Cannot be beaten
Parshati Dutta: Great collection. Knowledgeable and helpful staff.
Isaac Roy: Brilliant customer service from Meg and Mo, went the extra mile to ensure we got the shoes we wanted, and really friendly too.
Kelly Payne: Must say how amazing the staff is here,we meet a guy called Theo, being servelly blind its normally hard to shop he was s ok helpful in getting my young boys theirs shoes makeing sure they fit,,and way he talket to them was amazing asking if there liket them and did they fit we had such a brilliant shopping experience thank you Theo and sorry for keept calling you joe
Larraine Bond: Good selection of stock on the pricey side tho staff polite
