Evil Eye: what do users think?
Alberto Sánchez Murillo: Nos dejamos aconsejar por la chica que nos atendió. Todo un acierto. Buen precio y buena bebida.
John Bird: Eeeeeeeeevil and the milkshakes are to die for
David womack: Avoid the 'penicillin' rather like eating germolene ! Otherwise cool
Dantheman: Me and my pal Johnny Depp visited here a while ago, he said it’s his favourite bar in the UK.
Nic Nic: We came in yesterday during a really busy time, but the service was still outstanding. The whole team were busy serving, but kept the banter between them and were so efficent. We were served my a lovely young lady called Mia, who managed to pull off serving 2 customers at the same time (to avoid offending another customer who had arrived at the same time as us. She got all of the cocktail orders correct and very quickly whipped up the amazing cocktails. Superb service, well done Mia. 💕
Andy M: A great venue in the center of York, fantastic selection of Alcohol Free Drinks.
Alison Ashes: Absolutely avoid at all costs, if you want to be looked down upon for the choice of drink you buy, staff are so rude, no customer service what so ever, manager really should not work with paying customers, vile human her staff are incompetent and I see why if trained by her.. her attitude was appalling. Save your money go somewhere else with better customer service that actually make you feel like you are wanted there not someone on a power trip.i wouldn't even give it a one star if I didn't have to, deserves none and to be closed down. Wish I read the reviews first.
Christine Mulherron: Great fun at the quiz night, and amazing cocktails.
Mike D: Always a great time here, the drinks are fantastic, and the bar staff are very attentive
Bettina Thorpe: Super selection of cocktails Great discount during Happy hour fantastic staff
Ari Stillman: Phenomenal Bloody Mary from Luke. The port and the sherry in the mix add a complex character. Asked for a 6.5 spice, he tried it, adjusted it, and it was perfect.
Tracey Middleton: We were told about this place my a friend. Wow the amount of choice of cocktails is amazing. My partner ordered a Shed seven which he was advised they only sell one per person per night it's that strong. We sat on the main floor but when going up to the toilet there are rooms with bed settee that you can relax and enjoy a cocktail or two. Well worth a visit
Andrew Nelson: Amazing place! Great vibe, great tunes, great drinks, great staff. X
Kim Chard: It's a cool bar for a drink. I love the cocktails here! Has a quirky decor. Toilets are less than desirable, unfortunately.
Kyle Allan: Great staff, high end cocktails well worth the steeper pricing
June Hamilton: A quirky bar with many levels and very unusual seating in places, this place is a must for cocktail lovers
slay0rz0r: Amazing cocktail place, there's so many rums and cocktails in general that you could never get bored of drinking there, great atmosphere and the bar staff were really friendly..just don't buy a shed 7 unless you want a heavy night, Jesus that's a strong cocktail!
Joanna Langwald: Wide range of delicious cocktails, good music, but most of all - the most helpful Staff (I had a little bike parking issue and was offered a non-standard servise, which saved my evening). Will be coming again, for sure!
Ben Pink: Really fun cocktails for an ok price for the city centre usually around 7.50, only problem was it was freezing in there the entire time. The door to the smoking area was left open and everyone indoors has to wear their coats and jackets. Apart from that nice staff and cool decor.
Wayne Stuart: Always very busy but we’ll worth a visit the cocktails are amazing with an extensive menu definitely will be a few on the menu you haven’t tried. They’re are 3 floors with quirky decor and good place to chill
Alan Wilkinson: Great atmosphere and staff.

House Of The Trembling Madness: what do users think?
Diane: This place is awesome and you can order for collection if they don't stock in the shop.
Vicky Knott: Awesome place. Bar upstairs has a fabulous atmosphere. Staff are knowledgeable about their drink selection aswell as being super friendly. 👌
Francesco Puglisi: They have the widest selection of beers I've ever seen in a pub/shop.
Richard Ontiberoz: Beef stew was daily special, good and hot with very nice fresh bread. Tap bottle and can beers available.
wilfrid t: Quirky bar/restaurant with immense range of beers and terrific, good value food. Good service, lovely old premises great atmosphere.
James Browne: Fantastic.Great beer and fabulous food.
Cal Wickham: Best atmosphere in town
Gemma Boothroyd: Great gf beer selection!
John Nerney: Don’t accept cash! Very annoying!
Mat David: Great beer shop. Stock a huge range
COlin Harrison: Amazing place wouldn't have known there was a bar upstairs. Pleased someone told me. Good strong cider and beer. Great place.
Alexander Sinclair: House of trembling madness; house of drinking nirvana. Can’t describe just how superb this place is. Spirits in the basement, craft beer on the ground floor and beer/cider opulence upstairs. Just go, you’ll be telling your grandkids about it…..Just steer clear of the strange man in the corner, will try to sell you fish…..
Wayne Moon: Cracking little place, defo worth a visit
Adam Helmy: One of my favourite places for a little tipple in York! The cost bar upstairs has a great little view of York Minster.
Jeremy Stonehouse: Quirky venue. Often busy.
Le Nosfe: Huge variety of craft beer and spirits, highly recommend!
debbie veryard: Good ales, excellent food. (Real mash potato) had bangers and mash, hubby had venison and Bacon pie. Great pub and beer & Spirits shop. Will be back definitely.
Danny Dixon: Came with my girlfriend for her birthday. The place is quirky and unique. Attracts a whole different range of people. I think the most important thing to know about this place is, I suffer from bad social anxiety but I felt so at ease here as the customers who go there are all very willing to communicate and have a laugh with complete strangers. To the point me and my gf invited a complete stranger to our table as there were no seats left. He was travelling alone from Switzerland and was lovely and it made our evening. The staff even said they thought we knew him! But that is thanks to the energy and vibe the place has. The staff are lovely and very knowledgeable about the beers. I didn't know what to order so they asked what I usually drink and found one that fitted it and they got it spot on, was lovely! And strong which was a bonus! Had the Yorkshire and madness platters and they were unbelievable tasting and very filling but too good to let any go to waste. Probably the best shop/bar/eatery I've ever been to.
Jack Lacoste: One of the best pubs in the country. Great beer, fair prices, exceptional food at bargain prices. An absolute must visit for any serious beer lover.
Sean Dobson: Unique place to buy or drink
William Kay: Small eatery upstairs with many ales from around the world 🌎 to choose from. It looks like a shop from the outside so definitely go in an have a browse.

Luke Goddard: We had our booking and arrived on time.Ordered our drinks, the place was beautiful and such a lovely atmosphere. We had our first drinks and then we ordered our food soon after arriving really... Nearly an hour went past and we'd already had to order another set of drinks, then we thought we best question where our food was? Not one to complain or ask but people had come and gone by this time... They came and apologized saying it hadn't been put through the till, which we was like no worries but we've got to be somewhere before 8, if it can be fast tracked which they said they'll sort it ASAP and said not to worry...Another 20 minutes or so went past and still no signs? And during this they took our table water away... We questioned where it still was and we're waiting still?... They went away and came back and said sorry we've not put it through as we thought you was leaving!!??... Which is crazy as we'd had the conversation with the waitress that we still wanted our food...So we left hungry and not actually eaten, then having to rush to our show booking we had to make sure we got our seats.Just really disappointed as the food smelt amazing and the place was perfect and exactly what I'd envisioned when I booked it for this special occasion.Very let down :(Would have loved to have eaten here... But this really let us down.

Jason Chinnian “Jay Cee” There Was A Time Productions: Cool, underground vibe for this open-mic night. It was 'Happy Hour', so a glass of wine and a coffee came to just £5. Awesome 👏🏾👏🏾. Highly recommended if you want somewhere a little more intimate and listen to, and support, some local musos do their thang.Kid-friendliness: It is not kids friendly at this time of night.Parking: You cannot park anywhere nearby. You will need to park in an NCP.Wheelchair accessibility: Unfortunately, there is no wheelchair accessibility because it is down a very steep set of stairs unless you are carried down.
Toby Blake: Food: 4/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 4/5More

Michael Gorman: It was a bit cramped and dark for the middle of the day. Even thought it was freezing for and minuse 3 outside the door! However, I had the best pint of Goose at the perfect temperature.I got a plate of loaded nachos just so I didn't look out of place because it seemed every table was eating. I wasn't expecting anything to write about but I was unexpectedly surprised.Large oval platter full with naxos, giant dollops of gayacmole, sour cream and salsa on the top.At first this was off putting but I then realised there was also loads of melted cheese and jalapeños under this......My only criticism would be that if someone isn't too keen on 1 or more of the top 3 ingredients they are stuffed.However,......the topping were fresh and obviously made on site that day. Absolutely gorgeous....10 out of 10.

Scott: Gone downhill in our latest experience. Albondigas was bland and lacking season, as was the croquettes, its breadcrumb coating was thick and tasteless. Steak was overcooked and the patatas bravas was not seasoned.Service is poor. They missed a number of dishes and offered shots to apologise (it felt like we were in a club...). Staff didn't know the dishes by name. Our party of 8 will not be returning.
Robert Harland: Great food fantastic service and reasonably priced.Shout out to Thomas and Abbi made it a lovely experience. XVegetarian options: A number of veggie optionsKid-friendliness: Children having lunch staff very welcoming
Vanessa Palmirotta: I had dinner at Sotano with my friend on a Saturday night. We had a reservation but when we entered we were given the most uncomfortable table in the dining hall. I sat for the entire night on a little stool in the middle of the little area we sat and I was, of course, in the way for other people to move from their tables and go to the toilet. I asked the staff if we could sit somewhere else but they said the other two big tables were booked. In the end, while my friend and I were given that unpleasant table, I noticed that three big tables were given to couples while the other supposedly booked table was empty throughout our dinner. We could have had dinner over at that table but, for some mysterious reason, we were not allowed on that table. I am sure that few people from the staff noticed it but did not act on it. Very disappointing.Furthermore, I shall say that prices are not respectful of the concept of tapas. I have been to Spain quite few times and I know the tapas culture, which is little bites at little prices. Here, the bites are little but the price is not. Especially the galician steak which is £10 for quite literally 5 pieces of meat, and that is it. All in all, staff was friendly but did not try to accomodate our request and quality of the food was good, but when you get the TRUE tapas experience you can tell the difference.

Service from the young staff was first class, (shout out to Billie), the young waitress who kept us supplied with 2for1 delicious cocktails, and also made sure we had a table reserved for evening, and the young waiter who also helped. Chapter House: what do users think?
Daren B: Fantastic bar at this hotel, well worth a visit, great choice of drinks and friendly professional service, thanks Sam for being so helpful
Helen: Ignorant bar staff and slow service including and in particular the short bearded suited kind of manager so rude. Drinks very expensive and the diet coke bottle plonked on the bar without a glass for £10 with a pint of peroni.
sandra macdonald: Do not go , Warm drinks !!!! Ordered Gin and Tonic and a Vodka and Coke, mixers came warm off the shelf with a bottle of coke for 2 drinks as they didn't have small ones, was told would charge for small but didn't. They said they could give me more ice to cool drinks down.......
Rob Hamilton: Lovely decor but not much atmosphere, and an absolute joke how expensive the drinks are. 2 pints of Grolsch and 2 house G&Ts coming in at £34. Save your money and head into town!
Paul Suggitt - Filmmaker: Having had a business meeting in the Principal Hotel this morning, this afternoon was spent filming, and the backdrop for the filming was chosen to be in Chapter House, given it's great alcoves and general layout.Sam, the duty manager of the bar was very accommodating while we were filming and even helped us out.10 out of 10 for the staff service in there today. For those wanting a drink, the bar is extremely well stocked and the prices are quite fair too, which in today's economic climate is a total bonus.Recommended!
Adonia Proudlove: Absolutely incredible service from Sam. Sam knows said they cocktails and they most definitely do. they made me and my friend some specially based on after what flavours we after and got it perfect. Very impressed.
Louise Hall: Nice atmosphere. Good cocktail selection but they had run out of rhubarb gin which was a shame!
Matt Thory: Ok station bar, a lot of money has been spent in updating the rest of the place, but the bar area needs some updating but without losing its pub feel.
John Walker: Great vib and staff
Andrew Hodgson: Over priced and not the best quality beer, the barrel ran out when the barman was pouring my pint and I was given it 7/8ths full with just a shrug of the shoulders! Nice ambience though and far better than the nearby pub in the station.
Dawne Reed: Quiet, classy place - and much cheaper than the bar on the side of the railway station
David Buckley: Got given a free pint of Peroni as a conciliatory gesture for a wait at the bar, nice touch Chapter House!
stephen mason: Lovely place but expensive
Matthew Sumner: Great place for a nice drink
Jerry Swain: Very classy with good atmosphere and food
Andrew Halliday: Lovely bar, great cocktails. Better than waiting in the station for your train
Andrew Knight: Expensive.
Cris Scotter: It's an ok bar
Angela Vansil: Really sophisticated place to have a drink and eat.
Andy Surtees: Very nice, bit overpriced
Dj NorX: Lucky to have toured top50 cocktail bars in works and despite looking good on paper - Chapter House failed on complete lack of hospitality. Miserable welcome (felt like I'd intruded) and as a solo drinker all the best bars welcome people to sit and pass time at the bar. In an empty bar at 6pm I was told "no you can't as its too busy' Wow. and exit.

Charlie's Pizzeria & The Hi Ho Club: what do users think?
Eleanor Lomas: Best bar in York! Charlie is the most wonderful and creates the best vibe. Amazing atmosphere and staff. Perfect venue for private parties or a casual drink.
Brett Turner: Best cocktails in york!
Casey Harris: Love this place! We are always made to feel welcome by all the staff, they're fab! Amazing cocktails, amazing music and amazing atmosphere!
Sonata Morkeviciene: Nice place, mixed orders. Even a waiter didn't know what pizza they needed to give to us customers. We had 4 pizzas all burnt especially the crust. The best thing was just the cheese
Alan Nuttall: Lovely secret bar in the pizza restaurant. Cocktails where amazing and the staff very friendly. Highly recommended.
You Reekha: Always nice to see a piano, food looked good but didn't try, headed straight downstairs where I had the best cocktail I've ever tasted
Tunnelliner. 47: Just had a nice simple pepperoni, while wandering around York. Downstairs looks interesting.
Tim Shaw: Outstanding customer service amazing food great quirky place we will be back very soon 😀 😋 thanks for a lovely 😍 day
J: I love the fact that they have a secret bar! Cozy. Lovely service! Superb live music too
Louisa Lilybelle: Great food reasonable prices and amazing staff! Highly recommended it to any pizza lovers out there! Everyone was lovely to be around and the space is a bit hard to notice from a distance other than that inside its absolutely fabulous! Hope you get to expand the business its so good.
Rachel Burry: ❤ I arrived as a customer & left as a friend ❤I was tasked with arranging a cocktail making class for a small group of 4. Every venue I contacted, turned me down mainly due to our small group size ☹ then I came across this venue. My group attended our cocktail making class late but Charlie was so accommodating / understanding & kind. Within short order we where taken to a table in the HiHo Club where we drank scrumptious cocktails & ate amazing fresh pizza! The actual cocktail making class was in a secret intimate room and it was so fun & informative (I will remember the class for a lifetime) and we all agreed it was amazing value.I now class Charlie as a friend (she really is a wonderful person & a wonder woman in the hospitality / cocktail making worlds)Would I recommend this venue 100%, would I return 100%
Coralie Thomson: Easily the best cocktail bar in York, lovely atmosphere, service and food. Make sure to check out the jazz night on Thursdays and Charlie makes the best dirty martini around
G Rusto: Hidden gem alert! After eating a very tasty and filling pizza, we headed below through the old style fridge to the Hi Ho Club. From all the old fashions I've drunk in York the one I had here was by far the best. Highly recommend if your looking for an alternative cocktail bar in York.
Cyriaque Lajoinie: Make sure to make space for this speakeasy bar in the centre of town. Some really good cocktails, a very vibrant atmosphere led by super cool staff and Charlie who will make you feel at home with her enthusiasm and fun personality.Strongly recommended
Rachel Wagstaff: Had a brilliant first night of our minimoon here. The staff were just brilliant and made it super enjoyable
Charlie Kershaw: Best Old Fashioned in York.
Adam Cooperman: Outstanding drinks, friendly staff who just want you to have a good time and an awesome vibe! Can't recommend it enough!
Ste White: Delicious pizza in a lovely atmosphere!
Mercedes Savage: Horrible experience. Showed up for the bar with reservations. The place was so jammed I bumped a chair and spilt a drink some the front of me. No table was reserved for us. They set the four of us at a HALF a table with four chairs and a sticky table top . Then while cleaning our table another member gave our table to a group of TWO!! When our drinks showed up we barely had room for them. I couldn’t even pick up my drink. My daughter had to stand up so I could drink. Twenty minutes later we finished our drinks and they told us they had a bigger table. We didn’t take it. We paid and left. So upset. Drinks were nice. Looked forward to this for weeks, wow what a complete disappointment.
Alan Welch: Proper pizza, great atmosphere, don’t miss out!
Joe Egan: Ambience was pitch perfect (literally). Table water was a tasteful touch especially with a slice of lemon. Menu was very broad and as far as I could tell there were veggie options not sure about vegan. Waiting staff were great. Would recommend to a friend.

Forage York: what do users think?
Hazel Horwel: We had my daughters baby shower here 7th May cannot speak highly enough of the whole team venue and amazing food.Sarah and the other waitresses could not do enough to make our afternoon special. The food was excellent and cooked to perfection.Thankyou so much to you all who was involved in making our afternoon very memorable.Would definitely recommend 👌
Jennifer Passman: Fantastic cocktail selection, lovely helpful staff with quick and friendly service!Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 …More
Laurie Forbes: We had such a lovely meal, the hallumi dish was excellent and so were the steak tacos. Next time were in York, we'll come again. Service was lovely.Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5Recommended dishes Forage Fried Chicken, Halloumi …More
Anna Dolidze: The place is really cosy and well decorated, but overall I wasn't too impressed. First of all, the service was quite slow and messy - we had to wait quite a while to even have our orders taken, then it was another long wait for the bill; and it seemed like staff weren't sure which tables had been served in the first place... In terms of the menu, it was decent though I didn't get the whole tapas vibe of the place given the food choices; the prices were similar to London prices, which I didn't find elsewhere in York. My friend's steak was extremely undercooked and, in fact, this is the first time that nobody asked whether the steak should be well-done or medium rare... My lamb was nice but also on the slightly undercooked side. The salt & pepper fries were very disappointing. We did enjoy our wine choices and the respective price for a large 250 ml glass was pretty good. Unfortunately, I wouldn't recommend this place overall.
Richard Pugh: Excellent food in lovely surroundings.Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 4/5Recommended dishes Forage Fried Chicken, Halloumi …More
Cara Duffy: Food: 3/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5More
Jude Platton: Delicious cocktails in an even better setting.
Kevin Barrett: Ambitious Efforts Fall Short at ForageYork is home to an array of fantastic dining establishments, which makes it all the more disappointing that Forage didn't quite meet the mark. While the staff were genuinely friendly and attentive, the food, unfortunately, left much to be desired, especially considering the steep price point. Our experience started on a puzzling note with the fish starter, which was served at an indeterminate temperature - not quite cold, yet not quite warm either. The main courses didn't fare much better; the cauliflower cheese featured undercooked cauliflower, while my daughter's dish arrived cold.Dessert, supposedly a warm chocolate mousse, was an unusual concoction akin to chocolate spread with an excessive amount of olive oil. The overall experience set us back £140 for three adults and one child, which felt disproportionate to the quality of the food.Given the wealth of superior dining options in York at similar or even lower price points, I regret to say that I won't be returning to Forage. The restaurant's aspiration to deliver fine dining falls short, and I would recommend seeking out one of the many other exceptional establishments in the area instead.
Russ Tebay: . The worst thing was the accusation that we had tried to leave without paying. I paid contactless with my phone and was leaving when the guy said ' come back you need to pay' in front of the whole restaurant. I showed him that we had (thank you Google Wallet
David Reed: A farcically bad night out. I’ve enjoyed the small plates concept in plenty of other restaurants, but here it was just an excuse to serve small portions at high prices and at random times. The service was slow. So slow that several of the dishes were cold when they were brought to our table. We were asked if we’d finished when we were still waiting on 4 dishes! At one point we had a small side dish of coleslaw and nothing else for a full 10-15mins. An apology for the final dish being so late in arriving was offered, but without any offer of money off the bill. There are so many better places to eat in York. Avoid.
George Hopkins: We booked a lunch at Forage, of which we were looking forward too! Once we arrived the staff were very friendly, however the food not so much! The pie in the vegetarian menu was flooded with oil which we had to remove, this filled up a separate bowl! The staff gave us slight discount on the bill afterwards! Nonetheless it left us with a greasy aftertaste!
Al Wilkinson: I really like the concept, and the service was first class. However, the food was really, really underwhelming. Lamb spring rolls and beef arayes were both ok for flavour but dry. Grilled halloumi nothing special at all. The warm dark chocolate and orange desert with honeycomb was rich and tasty. But the worst of the lot?Rhubarb three ways with lemon thyme ice-cream with Szechuan tuille sounds divine. But what you get is a terribly over-sweet bowl of gloop without any texture or the tang you'd expect from rhubarb. The massive dollop of rich ice-cream on top kills any chance of finding some rhubarb sharpness. And the tuille is bland without any hint of Szechuan, just adding yet more sweetness. Potentially a very good dish, but abysmally executed. If you're looking to spend £30-40pp in York and want the food to be star of the show, my advice would be give Forage a miss and head to Ambiente tapas instead.
Lauren Muscroft: Kids chips drenched in salt got serve a Cornish pasty with a mint yogurt and some hard halloumi with dried straw on it shocking place
Michelle Cartwright: The best place for dining in the area. We are the only ones dining at the time which was very surprising with the great food produced. Enjoyed everything we ordered. The beetroot houmous was soo tasty, delicious.Thankyou for our great food and service.Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 3/5 …More
Lívia Ribeiro de Souza: Delicious food! We had the cod, the stake and aubergine and it was so delicious!!! Spot on with the flavours!!!Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5Recommended dishes Smoked Barbeque Aubergine …More
Nets K: The staff where wonderful and the place was lovely. Lovely atmosphere etc. Drinks very good, cocktails where excellent!!! But unfortunately the food wasn't the best. Prawns didn't taste fresh, broccoli greasy and while it's a tapas menu it took far to long between bringing dishes out. Pork belly was good and so was the confit potato. I don't know if I'm just a bit spoilt with some of the fantastic restaurants I've been to in my home town, but I left a little deflated as I expected so much more.Desert was beautiful though.. rhubarb 3 ways!Definitely a place to go for cocktails!Dietary restrictions: All staff we where involved in where very attentive to dietary requirements
Louise M O'Higgins: Nice space, lovely lovely service. Great food 😋Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 …More
Hannah Sowerby: We visited on a whim after seeing the place on a tik tok video and we weren't disappointed! The extensive cocktail list was impressive and there were so many different drinks on there you never usually see at cocktail bars, and they were so good!We had 3 dishes each and we're so full after, highly recommend the whipped ricotta and focaccia bread! Will definitely be returning and is now a new favourite in York.Vegetarian options: Highly recommended the chargrilled Oyster mushrooms! Tasted just like BBQ and totally healthy too! The halloumi and beetroot hummus were fantastic, plenty of vegan options too!
Holly Shaw: Stumbled across this place and so pleased we did.Amazing, interesting food that all tasted divine. Great cocktails and coffee and as a bonus they were amazing with our THREE toddlers and a baby in our party, not often a classy establishment is so accommodating of so many young children and on a Saturday. Big spacious restaurant and the most pleasant of staff. Thanks for giving us such a wonderful day.So pleased we stopped here and will be back!
Helen Smith: If you're thinking "hmm wiskey and red wine, I'm not so sure", ignor your instincts. Go ahead and try a Brunswick! It's surprisingly good.Forage is the best place we've found in york for cocktails. All are made with care and presented to you with their usual friendly service. The playlist is always great too 👏Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 …More

Three Museum Street: what do users think?
Allie: I visited this lovely pub when it was still Thomas’s of York and have never forgotten it. The atmosphere, decor, and food all made an excellent experience. Great fish and chips and dessert. When I return to York, I’ll come back and visit again.
Ryan Williams: Lovely service, ok beer selection, but not the experience or atmosphere that is as promised
Jane Wagstaff: A lovely day out.
Ceri Rose: Confusingly this pub is known as Three Museum Street and Thomas' of York. However, they run a cracking karaoke on a Friday night - worth a visit :)
TF T: (Visited Jul 2021)No food service because……the chef was serving ice cream at another restaurant they owned? Doesn’t seem like good organisation for a Sunday. We went in, was told to go to the Jury’s Lodging or somewhere equally expensive by some guy sat having a drink, then left.
David Harvie: Amazing food, Extremely friendly staff came for New Year’s Eve for drinks and then enjoyed a meal the next day definitely deserves 5 stars.
Nicola Dowker: Great place to come for a drink or something to eat. Booked in with my family and we all enjoyed the food and atmosphere.
Elaine Rolland: Lovely atmosphere.
Tim Capper: Great find and you can always find a table which is a rarity in York
Martin Storey: Pleasant staff and a quirky little place.
Tracy Weldrake: Lovely atmosphere highly recommended anyone to go and enjoy a drink
Valerie Zoz: I used to take everyone I knew here! But it just isn't the same. Food was meh but quite expensive.
Amanda Taylor: 3 young members of staff on the whole bar. Pub was packed due to the England match. Service was slow. 20 minutes for a cocktail as it seemed only one member of staff was capable of making them. It seemed like it was all of the staff's first day at work - staff were apologetic for delays but obviously poor management. They were all overwhelmed. Tried to pay with cash and told we had to pay with card because they had 'no change'. The one star rating is just for my enjoyment at how laughable the situation was.
Tim Hayward: Went for a drink on Saturday evening before going out to dinner, 20 minutes to get served and serving staff didn't look like they knew what was going on, disappointed
Arthur Duck: Don't even want to give the place one star. Absolutely dire. Ordered four drinks on Saturday. Bill came to over £25 quid. Wouldn't mind if they were nice. Two pints of lager with absolutley no life in them whatsoever. A can of cider (330ml) for over a fiver. What made it worse was when I complained the barman couldn't care less.Honestly, If you aren't from York, DO NOT COME here. There are loads of pubs within walking distance which are far better.
Simon Buckden: The new female member of staff was struggling with knowing what drinks were available, maybe this can be done if she is properly inducted? The breakfast that I had tasted like it had been on a hotplate for a while and the eggs were partially burnt and I did point this out to the member of staff. A querky place with character.
Daphne Bates: Place changed enormously since I used to live in York. Interesting decor throughout. Drinks seem a bit pricey
Sharon Brown: Love this place .
simone elliott: Lovely place
uksonic: They redecorated removing individuality from the pub, looks very tack and plain, very expensive £9.90 for pint of Stella and a Lager Shandy. RIP OFF. no customer service either.
Jayne Timofte: Nice pub for a drink but food gone downhill from last time we were there
