Mista T: Booked a table here during our visit to York.The restaurant is pretty funky inside and the staff were polite, friendly and attentive.The adult meals were absolutely fantastic, genuinely fresh, tasty grub! The rosemary fries were awesome!We took advantage of the "Kids eat free" promotion. While the fish goujons were great, the burger was pretty disappointing. I know it was free, but it was pretty overcooked and dry. The wee fella ended up just eating some of the bun and chips. Didn't want to make an issue as it was free, but maybe one to avoid on the kids menu if visiting. The dessert more than made up for it though, with both kids demolishing the delicious ice cream!All in all, it was a very pleasant meal out at averyvreasonable price. Would highly recommend!Kid-friendliness: The kids eat free promotion was a nice addition!
Laura Morgan-Watson: Have been a big lover of Bill’s since I first went to one in 2014, sadly the quality of food has slightly gone down since then but on this occasion I really enjoyed my food. I had the ‘nduja & burrata meatballs…they were delicious and I also had a Rosè spritz which was refreshing and not too bitter. The other diners I was with had mixed reviews…chicken burger a little dry and the beef burger not as good as previous times. I cannot fault the service though and I also like the option of splitting the bill when you scan the QR code. Overall, 4* as I enjoyed my food and it was a nice lunch 😊
Alex Elliott: Great service. Friendly staff, food was good, fast and only lost a star due to the fries not being hot and not being rosemary and red onion salted as advertised. Had the vegan “dirty” burger which was honestly one of the best burgers I’ve had and the kids loved their food. Papa.T: On arrival we were promptly shown to our table of choice, drinks order taken after a couple of minutes, and settled down with the drinks to choose from the menu, which had very good value set menu's of 2 or 3 courses, as well as a specials menu to add choice, staff were polite and efficient. We were there early so were the first in for the evening but the place soon filled up. The food was excellent and the courses were not rushed. All in all it was a lovely evening and will definitely be returning again soon. Update! Has now closed down and has opened up as an Italian restaurant.

John Grant: My go to fish restaurant on our twice yearly visits to York from Scotland. Corrie: Absolutely incredible! I arrived early enough for the early dinner menu and enjoyed Spinach perogies as an appetizer, a tender goulash with delicious potato pancake and side salad, as well as an incredible cappuccino cake that reminded me of tiramisu! The raspberry beer was also very tasty! Portion sizes are generous and the staff incredibly friendly. All at very reasonable prices!

Joseph Newman: It’s a nice, nowhere near Ivy London, Manchester, or Leeds. It’s a very toned down version with, for example, a coat stand rather than a wardrobe or cloak room. Service is the same for every guest, courteous but standardised, and the food and drink selection is reasonable. On this visit there was a full range, which was great compared to last time. Overall, a good visit, and nice staff, food, and drinks.
Donna Drakeford: First time visit for me. The decor was lovely and the service was excellent. The vegetarian choices were a little basic, so as I am pescatarian, I chose fish & chips. My husband had Shepherds pie, and we all had arranchini balls to start with. My daughter had the same mains as me.The arranchini balls were nice but would have been better served with a sauce as they were a little dry.The fish & chips were nice, as was the Shepherds pie. The Creme brulee was lovely, as was the chocolate bomb.Presentation was good, and my daughters peanut allergy was handled well.It is a very noisy, busy restaurant. The price was average for these days in a nice restaurant. All in all a pleasant lunch. If I was in the area I might call in for breakfast as my husband says it is very good, and the cappucino was excellent.
Craig Bond: Called in on the off chance we could get a table without reservation on a busy Saturday lunchtime and the front on house staff happily accommodated our custom to show us to our table. Once seated the service was very good. The only slight negative feedback I could give is that we were charged £4.95 for a bottle of table water offered to use by the waiter. Though at no point did we get informed this would be chargeable. Irrespective of this small detail it didn't dampen our experience and would happily return to The Ivy in York.

Matt Davis: Describing it as bijou would be to do an injustice. We were in a group of five and we were treated very nicely by loving and warm staff. Between us we ordered a variety of menu items and all of us left happy and contented with such a beautifully presented and delicious meal. This is not something that suits an average student budget, perhaps more for the parents of students visiting. Located in the heart of York, with great decor and high ceilings, gave it an ambience that will last for many memories. The walls were festooned with a number of photographs which were very interesting. I can thoroughly recommend the fish cakes for starters.Vegetarian options: Staff were willing to tailor each dish to your particular dietary requirement. The vegetarian amongst us was pleased to have nuts removed from all dishes.
Ilana Zeldin: Fabulous food in a cozy atmosphere. Amazing steak. Great service and very friendly staff. The black sesame ice cream was delicious and unique. Recommend for an elevated dining experience in York for a great price.

Cannot speak highly enough for all the staff and the chef is outstanding. We had the most amazing time and food, the cost reflects the status of the chefs skills. Cannot recommend this place highly enough. Booking a must.

We had the goats cheese tart, fish cakes and black pudding for starters; followed by the baked aubergine, lamb and surf and turf. Rarely make it to desert but the pear trifle and banoffi were delicious. Excellent, personal service and not surprised they were fully booked! Highly recommend.

Macauley Hyde: As I walked in the restaurant staff were quick to notice me and let me know they will be with me. Two members of staff said they would seat me. A female member of staff called Tina promptly seated me and asked me about allergies on two occasions before eating food. She was polite and ensured I ordered exactly what I wanted. Food was hot and tasted amazing. Paying for the food online was easy to do and Tina was helpful with this also. All staff seem happy and always look proactive. Service was very quick also. Highly recommend.

Alan Cowley: First post pandemic shopping trip to York. Needed lunch and luckily the first restaurant we visited was full. Then we remembered Wagamama. A well organised queue saw us seated in 5 minutes in what for us was a new layout.Staff so professional. Both my wife and I were about to order our old favourites when we both had a change if mind. My wife went fir the mackerel and I went for chicken, garlic and ginger, rice dish. We were both delighted with our choices.Great service, clean, bright environment and healthy, tasty food . tommy yu: The dry-fried beef ho is stir-fried with fresh rice noodles. There is no oil at all when stir-fried. The beef is crispy and cooked to perfection. It is not the same as the beef itself but has no tendons. The wok flavor is even better. It is really special. There's no such thing as a job that can't be fired even if you have such high and low skills.Baked Pork Chop Rice with White Sauce - This is my 10-year-old's favorite. I only ate two of them, so I can't say why, but I can tell by the speed with which he ate the rice.The salt and pepper tofu is dry enough without having to drink a lot of water after eating. The three-color peppers and onions are chopped into fine pieces and the flavor is infused. It doesn’t feel like adding a lot of onions and cutting them into pieces. Even if it’s green pepper, they really have the heart to make it.Western toast is the same as rice. I ate ten portions and couldn’t eat any of them. It’s just too much for a kid. I’ll order a plate myself next time.Caiyuan Beef Brisket Stir-fried River - The beef brisket is dry-flavored and juicy, but it is very difficult to cook it yourself in the UK. It all takes time and effort.The bakery was a surprise. I usually don't order it, but I didn't expect it to be so delicious. The gravy is juicy but not fat and juicy. Would you like to order the whole dish?I don’t think I know this guy well enough to help him sell ads. I met him for the first time today and I didn’t even know his name. I made this comment purely because I think their food and service quality are good

Michaela Knight: Wow, this was the most amazing dining experiences of my life and I'm 55, the food was fantastic, a work of art, every dish was explained in great detail, it was a master class in taste, how food is dried or frozen in order not to waste it, but every dish that came out was an explosion of detail, art and taste, we were genuinely in ore of it.The service was on another level to anything we have experienced, exceptionally fabulous, we couldn't find anything at all to moan about, nothing! absolutely amazing, amazing, amazing so much so we gave a 20% tip.If you are looking for steak and chips, then this isn't for you, but if you are looking for a once in a lifetime dining experience just go for it, we are already saving up for our next visit in summer.

Sarah: packs a mean punch when it comes to serving steaks. We had the Salt Aged Rib Eye and the Porter House Steaks and they were the best steaks we've had in a long time. Beautifully seasoned and the mains included two sides of choice. Each steak meal priced at around £36, it was actually great value. Wine very reasonable priced and we enjoyed a delicious Malbec with our meal. Fantastic Service and very welcoming. Modern and clean interior. Not a place we could take our dog but all the same it was worth it! Great meal out.
