Ariane Robert: Very cute cheap books, I loved shopping there
Steve Watters: A wonderful range of books, probably something for everyone.
Peter M Cooper: Best bookshop ever - eclectic mix of new and old, love the little rooms and the tiny stairs.
Kim Martin: I have never been in a book shop like that, fabulous shop
Hugo Hehn: Visiting this bookstore was an absolute joy and I could have spent hours browsing if I didn't have people waiting for me.
Guido Liguori: Great service
Kate Wilson: Wonderful rabbit warren of books old and new. A beautiful book shop well worth a visit.
R. Z.Q: I was there yesterday and what a gem! Loads and loads of books at amazing prices. I strongly recommend it. Great selection of new and second hand books. And really helpful stuff.
Joshua Frampton T: Nice atmosphere and lovely staff, also cheap prices and a large range of books to choose from. If you like old books then come here and be entertained for hours!
Newbie_ Modder: Has amazing books. Is packed with them and is full of information. If you want a book on history or fiction, look here. It has 7 rooms across 4 floors packed with books. Yes, none of them are wallpaper.
allan claydon: Really snug little bookshop with a huge collection of books on all topics ranging from contemporary to antiquarianThe staff were really friendly warm and welcomingI would advice coming in on a quiet day as it is snug inside, and you can end up waiting for a while at the top or bottom of the stairs
Virginia Haro: Lovely little bookshop with many options to choose from. However, the staff didn't recommend or offer you much when I asked for a specific title.
Rebecca Cowman: A hidden gem! Love it
Lee Woodruff: Great selection of books at some fantastic prices !!
Saad: Best bookshop ever! Lots of options and relatively cheap.
Hilary Shepherd Holding: Cute rabbit warren bookshop - steep and narrow stairs - lots of lovely little rooms
Bella L: Amazing
Philip Johnson: Brilliant - can spend hours browsing the shelves.
Patricia S: As the name suggests this is conveniently located right next to the York Minster, and definetely a must visit if you like old bookshops full of treasures waiting to be (re)discovered. Books are stacked everywhere, including on the narrow staircase that requires some patience to navigate as it only allows for one person at a time. They accept both cash and card payments.

Amanda Robertson: What a gorgeous church and beautiful mass! Father Richard’s homily was so thoughtful and full of truth. We were just here on holiday, but how lucky the people of York are to have a place like this in their city! Highly recommend attending a service here at least once.

Fossgate Books: what do users think?
Callum Rhodes: Expensive and sometimes misleading prices. Buyer beware.
Garry Pickles: Amazing shop I like the fact it isn't pretentious no fancy carpets or wallpaper good old Yorkshire grit.
natasha c: Just lovely!!
Alan Martin: Extremely interesting bookstore. There's a loose affiliation of stores in York with a pamphlet and a map. Janette Ray provided me with a copy and having established my interests, recommended this shop and 2 others.
mandy sanderson: The place is an absolute hazard ,the steep stair carpet was badly ripped on every step the skirting board an the bottom of the stairs sticks out so far my friend tripped over and fell. There are piles of books on the floor that i consider a hazard especially to elderly people. Will not be visiting again!!.
Martin White: Bought a fabulous copy of Midsummer night's dream at a fair price. Well worth a look at their vast range of old and antiquarian books
A S: Absolutely the most disorganised book shop I have ever seen! However, this is quite in keeping with the nearby Shambles, and there are plenty of old, collectable books.
Giuseppe Ieraci: Great bookshop, full of rare books. Highly recommended.
Mellifluous Grace: Fab cave of old and more recent books, including early editions. One of the few of this type remaining sadly these days. Very knowledgeable and helpful owner.
Marc Widdowson: Good traditional secondhand bookshop. Prices fair to middling. Numerous unusual and interesting items. I bought The Handbook of British Chronology 3rd Edn for £15.
Adam Greaves: Full of boiks
Parshati Dutta: Lovely creaky little place stuffed with treasures ❤️
Ruijie SK Chong: A nice selection of books here. The folios at level 2 would make great Christmas gifts.
Emma Boast: Wonderful assortment of books, you could get lost in here for a good while having a browse. The owner was incredibly helpful and friendly. A great place to keep popping back into to see what goodies are instore! Highly recommended 👌
Marcus: This is the kind of bookstore you want to visit. The place where classics and little-known gems are to be found. I found a 3-volume set in beautiful condition at a price that shames the scalpers on the internet. Please give this store your custom if you can, neither the internet nor chain bookstores offer what this store can.
Sam Blanchard: Fantastic bookshop full of every and all. You could spend hours pawing through the collection here and DEFINITELY come away with something interesting
Teresa Smith: Had a good browse here and very helpful staff. Large selection for novels, first editions, but not big choice for non fiction antiquarian, specifically sciences.
Gareth Simpson: Brilliant shop. Great range of books, very traditional feel, owner is friendly and helpful. York has a lot of second hand book shops, you can spend a happy day here wandering between them; this is one of the best.
Crystal A-T.: The owner is very kind and helpful
Clamhead: charming bookstore! the owner was very friendly and helpful.
Martin Dawson: Love this book shop, have been going for some 15 years and had some very rare tomes... can not recommend it highly enough!

York Minster: what do users think?
K K: Feeling so peaceful when I was inside the minster. The architecture is extremely spectacular. Unfortunately that the rooftop was closed on the day I visited.
Bence Dávid: Lovely sight didn’t pay ticket to get in
Vearchi Chis workshop: Book “York Pass” tickets in advance. And buy the “Tower Challenge “ ticket in the church.
k l: Mixed feelings here.1. There was a huge queue and I understand that pre-booking gets priority. However! the ones who did not book were just standing there even when the pre-booked queue was gone. We were treated like some kind of lepers and a few people in the queue started to complain, my family was disgruntled too. I understand pre-booked tickets, although it should be wholly accepted that some people neither want to/have access to the Internet and the ones who are paying on the day should also be factored in and not stand there until LONG AFTER the pre-booked tickets have gone through. It is wrong, it is unethical and it is discrimination.2. Card Only - it is utterly ridiculous that you are a card only premises. This is a historical site which has significant public funding as it comes via the Government. This is a publically owned building and it is utterly ridiculous you are going on a data grab by using COVID as a smoke screen. COVID not that it was ever a thing, is done and dusted and you are using it as an excuse not to accept LEGAL TENDER. A simple explanation, the monarchy is on the bank notes, the head of the church is the king and by association, you are not accepting money from the King. It is utterly disgusting.3. The Minster itself is breath taking and we have been here many times although the area we are most interested in is the undercroft. It seems that in recent times, you have replaced items with historical significance with items of current agenda and placed more reliance on interactive technology.4. All in all, York Minister is a great place to go although you need to search in order to find the REAL gems which we found, although it would appear some of them have been moved. Instead, you are thrusting more agenda based information and policy than anything else.I am sick to death of institutions telling me what I can do, how I can do it and what I must see, say and not see and not say.I understand that if you reply, you will give me the usual "I am sorry that your experience, but in line with guidelines...blah blah blah..."Just sort out your policies, take cash and stop isolating people for not following your data grabbing processes.
Concetta Strazzoso: Bellissima!!! Prezzo 16 sterline un po' esoso!!
Kordian Dymnicki: Very good
Christopher J Keeffe: The second primatial See in the Church of England and seat of the Archbishop of York who in the established Church is the Primate of England. There is an entry fee.The Minister is a beautiful church and despite being a tourist attraction is also a working church with liturgies during the day.It is a place where peace and quiet can be found the daily hubbard.
Sweenyt Todd: Truly wonderful building, we spent 90min inside and did the minster steps for the view. You can't help but be amazed at tue architecture and sculpture inside.Visited on Public holiday Wait time No wait Reservation recommended No …More
Simon Wheeler: Amazing building, surprised it’s so much to go inside.
Youme: Expensive to go onside but it was cool from the outside too
Roy Carter: Stunning building, beautiful architecture
Nanny Mcfee: Had a lovely 3 days in York with my parents & my brothers plenty to see & do there
Janet Margerum: Visited on Weekday Wait time Up to 10 min Reservation recommended NoMore
David womack: Again expensive, but not many better cathedrals to view
Nicki Knight: Can't go in York Minster unless you're willing to pay £16 + p/p. Had a good walk around wall and through tiny side streets.Would recommend 👍👍
katherine thornton: York minister, full of history and character at the heart of the city. Be sure to explore and climb the many steps up to the roof! A popular spot for happy Graduation photos too.
Marco Antonio Chivardi Antonio: La representación gótica en su máxima expresión, una belleza la catedral York Minster. Al entrar te sumerges en un maremágnum de vitrales columnas, santos completos y sin cabeza, en fin una experiencia inolvidable!!
Lee: Incredibly beautiful. We found in this church a great beauty, great space, great feeling and a wonderful experience. Anyone will surely have a great experience when visiting this place.
poonam Kapoor popli: Wow, un believable architecture. Beautiful monument.YorkYork Minster is one of the world’s most magnificent cathedrals.Since the 7th century, the Minster has been at the center of Christianity in the north of England, and today remains a thriving church rooted in the daily offering of worship and prayer. The Minster was built for the glory of God. Every aspect of this ancient building - from the exquisite, handcrafted stone through to the unrivaled collection of medieval stained glass - tells the story of Jesus Christ.
Rajeev Addepalli: Visited on Weekday Wait time No wait Reservation recommended NoMore
Charles Ferguson: Beautiful building. A bit pricey for a old age pensioner. The fact that the ticket is valid for 1 year is not much use for foreign visitors.

Holy Trinity Church, Goodramgate: what do users think?
Ashley Lightfoot: Hidden away with one entrance opposite a Tesco, it's a church with character. Run by volunteers who are happy to talk about the church, there is also a small guide book on hand. Wonder round or just sit in one of the box pews and enjoy the peace
kevin ryan: A unique church. You won't see a better one
HughUK: A gem of a 12th century church just off Goodramgate in York. Grade 1 listed and now in the care of Churches Conservation Trust. Helpful volunteer steward. A plaque was unveiled in the churchyard to mark the occasion in 1834 when Anne Lister and her partner, Ann Walker, took Holy Communion together, regarding that as a sacramental affirmation of their relationship.
zarla zeeteecee: Awesome... and really friendly and knowledgeable staff. We love it here!
Malcolm Beeston: A beautiful old church in the centre of York. Not very big so doesn't take a lot of time to walk around, but we'll worth a visit.
Tony Clark: This is not an easy place to find for the casual visit to York but we stumbled across it. The church is extremely interesting and historic with the oldest parts dating from the 12th century. For me, seeing the very rare box pews was a delight and the three tier pulpit is still in place. The lady who greeted us was very pleasant and knowledgeable but she didn't tell us about maybe the most interesting thing about the church: The first lesbian marriage in an English church and maybe, in the world. On Easter Sunday 1834, Anne Lister took Holy Communion with Ann Walker. This wasn't a legally recognised marriage by neither state nor church but everyone present knew the significance of the event to the two women.
Samantha Kirsty: Beautiful building, wonderful volunteers who went out of their way to help, and a fantastic event with the excellent York RPC
Tore S: Litt inneklemt gammel kirke, fredfull plass.
Kate Harris: A beautiful church with lovely old box pews and some beautiful stained glass.
GRAHAM BARLOW: We visited for an evening carol sevice. A fine example of living history. With no electric lighting and original furnishings it provided a real sense of bygone times. Very atmospheric.Part of the TV series "Gentleman Jack" was filmed here.
Tom Hannah: Well worth a visit.
Nikki Pantony: Fantastic old little church with a great atmosphere. Well worth a visit.
Terri Kerenza: A lovely place to visit
M. Arcones: Best plaque and best church!
Lizzie knox: Beautiful church, really tranquil. So beautiful by candlelight. The volunteers are knowledgeable and very helpful.
Wendy Leung: This church is adjacent to the York Minister, look for archway tacked onto the building now an artisan workshop/studio. The east window stained glass dates back to 1470. You will also see a blue plague where Ann Lister took her sacrament with Ann Walker right here in this church.
Sonia Carbó: Pequeña iglesia medio escondida muy recomendada para los fans de la serie Gentleman Jack ya que allí se casaron Anne Lister y Ann Walker
Jane Mullen: Hidden gem in York. Lovely church
CEF: Nunca está abierto. No hagan caso de los días y horarios que señalan. Viaje expresamente desde España y de 3 días en York ninguno abrió. Abandonó total.
Jade Moore: Visited to see the Anne Lister plaque and take a look at the boxed pews. They had a lovely local artist in there selling some of their work, my partner bought a carved wooden gargoyle. Such a welcoming place and beautiful inside too. A nice garden area surrounding the church too.

All Saints North Street (The Shrine and Parish Church): what do users think?
Ashley Lightfoot: York's church of Angels. A lovely church, hidden away from the city centre. Difficult to get a picture from outside but inside is colourful with stained glass and wooden angels. Guide books on hand and some in different languages to help you round. A peaceful spot
neil walsh: Very interesting, lots of history
Alun Jones: Warm welcome. Brief visit, but wanting to return. A hidden jewel.
Roger Smith: A hidden gem. Outstanding stained glass.
Carole Wardle: Lovely venue. We visited from Manchester and joined a small service given for our visit.
Clark Greenaway: Quiet and clean worth a visit.
Eric Arnould: Unpretentious local. Nice cafe food. Coffee bar or beer bar depending on your preferences. Doggies welcome.
William Burchill: Fabulous place. Really enjoyed the experience.
David Harper: Lovely quiet refuge in the centre of York. A lovely flower display.
Jack Conway: A wonderful piece of history
Claire Williamson: Beautiful and historic church
Debbie Sharp: Beautiful church.
Chrissie Jacobs: Lovely
Gary Jacobs: Beautiful Church, ancient stained glass
Annamaria Hodgkinson: Lovely church. Such a nice atmosphere. Every time I visit I notice how they expected the river to flood as I look at the floor and see the channels under the grate. The new statue of our lady is beautiful.
Colin Myers: Very old but interesting building, with lots of history to it, worth a look if your passing by.
Alfie Robinson: One of the few parish churches with extensive medieval stained glass in the British Isles. Some is currently being consolidated and fitted with protective exterior, so check before you visit. Also see their social media to see when they're open. Any queries and they're happy to answer, quick and friendly.
Pety & Rebecca: Beautyful old church
Nick Jablonski: One of the oldest surviving examples of mediaeval stained glass remaining anywhere in the UK. Old-fashioned but well executed and traditional language High Mass every Sunday evening at 5.30pm. A small but dedicated congregation - come and join them!
Leonard S: Fabulous place. Healthy levels of mad, but in a good Anglo-Banglo way.
Gareth Simpson: Gorgeous, incredible mediaeval windows and a very peaceful atmosphere. More people should visit (and contribute to the upkeep - pop in when your passing and put a quid in the box!)
