Jeff Shurak: Great food....only if you eat in. Pass on delivery. Multiple times the ramen has been delivered with the noodles and broth together. Sadly, this results in much of the broth being absorbed by the noodles. The end result is a bowl of soggy sad noodles. Its a shame because fresh, its quite tasty.
Kate: Love Wagamamas overall and the food is great. The staff were as always friendly and attentive. Unfortunately what let it down this time was the cleanliness. Everything felt a bit grubby and unclean. There was food, chopsticks and dirt under our table. The glasses looked like they could do with a good clean and the toilets were quite unpleasant with no toilet paper. It all looked a bit tired, as if no one really cared. It hasn’t put me off from going again, maybe they were short staffed, but the whole restaurant looked like it needed a bit of love.

Kevin Lesser: Still my favourite type of food. Food filled with deliciousness and eye stimulating colours. If you enjoy fresh and oriental type food, Wagamama is a must try. Staff are well trained and understand customer service. The menu is interesting and has a number of alternatives for vegans 🥑 which looked just as enticing to a non-vegan. The prices are not insane but also not fast-food prices. The sharp flavours and crispy vegetables 🥗 will make you feel that the food is value for money. Go forth and enjoy!

Ippuku Tea House: what do users think?
Lauren Thompson: service was amazing and the food was unreal - portion sizes are massive and the miso soup was delicious!!Recommended dishes Onigiri, Teriyaki Mayo Tofu, Vegan …More
Antz Eddleston: Oke of my favourite places to visit in York, atmosphere is calming and relaxing, staff are very very friendly and easy to talk to, the food and drinks are extremely tasty. The menu is quite small with extra specials inside but that's good thing, smaller menu means better overall food, a great selection of vegan options, extensive drinks menu, everything from Japanese tea and soft drinks, to Japanese alcohol.Prices are reasonable for the portion size, which is deceptively filling. If you want somewhere that is smaller, has an amazing atmosphere and is very relaxing, it's the best place to go.
AJ: Vegetarian options: Lots of veggie options and specials!Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 4/5Recommended dishes Onigiri …More
Tom & Becky: We used Fran to supply an assortment of Japanese food for an event - it was amazing! Great food, great communication, amazing detail into the dietaries making the food accessible to everyone.Dietary restrictions: Gluten free
Victoria Quint: What a gem! I've been in with friends and family, and everyone raves about the food! The lunch teriyaki set is really delicious, and the atmosphere is lovely both inside and out in the courtyard. Great food and great service, I look forward to going back.
Perdita Blinkhorn: Vegan reviewer:An absolute hidden gem in York. I can’t wait to come visit again and try something else. I’ve given these guys 4/5 because I didn’t love some of their side plates but this could easily go to a 5/5 on my next visit. The overall quality of food is EXCELLENT.Great vegan opinions throughout the menu. Specials and desserts are only on the boards in store so it’s worth going in, there’s a cute shop that sells food, sweets and utensils at the front, and there’s interesting decor. Recommend booking due to small restaurant size. Friendly staff. We ordered:1) vegetable gyoza teishoku set2) teriyaki Tofu teishoku setThe teishoku sets come with a big bowl of miso soup, steamed rice, cabbage (think steamed?), and pickled carrot & bean shootsI absolutely LOVED the teriyaki tofu- delicious The veg gyozas were also really nice and perfectly crisp. I loved the miso soup and the steamed rice. The rest was neither here nor there really- the pickle wasn’t very pickle-y and the cabbage was just very bland limp cabbage (but neither were unpleasant and I still ate it all). For sides we ordered:3)veg gyozas4) garlic-miso-mushroom yaki onigiri5) soy yaki onigiriWe ordered extra gyozas to share but these were exactly the same as the ones on the teishoku (and just as nice). The soy onigiri was quite dry and a bit overdone. The flavour was ok but I don’t think I’d order again. We preferred the GMM onigiri which was nice, but also wouldn’t rush to reorder.Overall, really enjoyed it and was full. However I did still have room for dessert! They come and sit the dessert board on a chair next to you, which is a bit odd especially given how small the restaurant is.It was a couple of weeks ago now so I can’t remember the exact order, but we had some kind of vegan chocolate brownie that was AMAZING!! I’m not even the biggest brownie fan but they really nailed that one and my mouth is watering over it right now!Shout out the the lemon yuzu drink I’d never seen before- I love yuzu and this was just the perfect drink to have with the meal!100% will go again. As I said, this is so close to being a 5/5 but that for me means nothing could be better and there were a couple of things that could have. But generally EXCELLENT and a do encourage everyone to have a visit!!
suvodeep mazumdar: Great little cafe with some amazing tea options. The chicken gyoza was fantastic!
Kristin Maresca: This is a review of our experience today - not the food. The food is lovely and authentic. My kids and I have enjoyed coming to Ippuku in the past.On Monday went online to make a booking for lunchtime today (Wednesday) and saw that they were no longer taking bookings. I was slightly concerned considering the size of the space but decided that if we showed up close to opening time (noon), we wouldn’t have an issue getting a seat. So we planned a trip into York, excited to have Ippuku for lunch. As soon as I walked in, the gentleman working asked me if we had a booking. I replied no, that the website said they were no longer taking bookings. He confirmed that this was correct, however they do take phone bookings for two time slots. I was shocked and inquired as to why this isn’t mentioned anywhere on the website. He simply said, “I don’t know.” I told him that I would have happily made a booking, but it said they were no longer taking bookings, not that one should call. He claimed that it wasn’t advertised because they “don’t want to take too many bookings.” This is nonsense. If you take bookings, then don’t say that you don’t take bookings! Of course, there was nothing that could be done at that point. He said we could get on a call list but would likely need to wait an hour or more. No apology. No stating that he would convey to management that the information on the website wasn’t exactly accurate and was causing confusion. I decided to abandon that lunch plan and go elsewhere.I realise that this comment may sound a bit ridiculous considering the food at Ippuku is delicious and atmosphere is lovely, but my hope is that others know what will be required to get a seat here and that management at Ippuku understand better what would be helpful to their customers. Perhaps they can also explain to their well-intentioned employees how best to deal with misunderstandings like the one we had today. Relationships (personal and business) are everything, and good communication can make or break them.
Adeline Budiman: Amazing food and great ambience. Felt like I was in Japan for a moment.
Amz Wallace: A lovely cosy little place with the most beautiful Japanese food and drink, in terms of both taste and presentation! Lots of options for vegans too. The staff were all lovely and friendly but they were definitely understaffed which meant service was slow, hence losing a star. But would still highly recommend and we will definitely be returning again!

Shori: what do users think?
Anthony Quinn: Went for boa buns yesterday. Had high expectations as loved these when they were at Sparks. Sadly more expensive, smaller and tofu was slimy. Coating was also different. Menu says £6.50 each and £14 for two !
Scott: Had such high hopes but completely dashed by an awful experience. Menu was super restrictive, no chicken bao, and the pork belly was extremely fatty. Very poor experience in Spark
Elisa Winstanley: Great food. The Tonkatsu ramen was delicious and pork was tender! The Katsu chicken and rice was yummy too! We had pork baos but ate it too quickly before taking a photo! A great business to have at Spark!!
Jaekook Lee: Decent ramen :)
Matt Jackson: The tastiest place to eat at Spark. Had the bao buns and gyozu and they were some of the best things I've ever tasted!
Lucas Wilson: Authentic, finger-licking delicious and affordable. Perfect for dinner or even a late night snack. This place is definitely comparable to a Yakitori you'll find on the streets of Tokyo (I have been to Japan and had plenty of Yakitoris in the past). Baos and Karaage are also perfect.
Ben Rush: Didn't try any of the food, but they do a pair of really excellent cocktails
Filippo M.: Japanese street food at its best. Perfect for a casual bite.
Chris Dexter: Loved it when back in York ill be there again
I S (Hyperdry): We wanted to eat at table here but they said Dlivreroo need to be installed in order to eat food in the restaurant. I don’t totally understand this system. Also I wanted to eat ramen but they don’t serve ramen in summer season. No good service.
Heather Wood: Food was insanely good!
tom carter: By far the best fried chicken I’ve ever had
H Aliyu: Beautiful food. Healthy and flavoursome
Mark moohsdad: Excellent Japanese foodGreat location
Aaron Wu: Ramen cooked to perfection, absolutely love the attention to details especially the veg ramen (sweetcorn was grilled before placed in the broth)!
Sasha Riser-Kositsky: The noodles are spot on, relatively thin and not in the slightest overcooked. The broth was reasonably complex and fatty, with a hint of spice in the spicy pork. But the pork slices were cold, thin, and uninspired. Id barely classify them as pork belly; braising would be a quick way of making them more appealing. The soft yolk eggs were also plain, not soaked in any kind of flavoring.
Kevin Zhang: Delicious 🍜
Sandy Lien (BIG NOOOBY MUM): Love it! The spark co is cool. If you are craving for reman good cosy place to be.
Joseph Andrew: Fresh and flavoursome - have been several times and not been disappointed. Really nice food in good surroundings
Lily harrison: The 'sando' is just a fried chicken sandwich with ketchup and mayo on it. I myself do not like ketchup and so was disappointed as I was expecting what they advertised as 'Japanese sauces'. Other than that factor it was a good experience.
Joanne Victory: Food simply amazing

Nastia wearing glasses: Pretty bad food, expected much more. Sushi looks sloppy and tasted same. But friendly staff. Didn't cost that moneyFood: 2/5|Service: 4/5|Atmosphere: 2/5 …More
Evelyn Grzedzicki: Nothing special, overrated and overhyped. Would have been reasonably priced but the portions were too small. The staff were a bit unkempt looking, slow, not paying attention. The kitchen staff were missing orders from several tables. Our food came separately as one had been forgotten, and so one was cold. One came round the conveyor belt with the lid half off and dragging. The place looked shabby and dirty. I asked for a glass and was given a plastic cup that looked like it had been kicked around for a few years. Food itself was okay, but not the best I've had by a long way. Probably won't go back, just didn't think much of it.
Tamara: Food: 4/5|Service: 3/5|Atmosphere: 3/5More
Mark Harmer-Ebdon: Food: 4/5|Service: 4/5|Atmosphere: 3/5More
Jason Bentley (Swampy): Food was well prepared, and tasted lovely. You can tell that the chefs enjoy what they do. One little problem to point out, is that primarily, you place your order online via your phone. And the the food gets brought to you. Now, I don’t mind the concept, but the network signal within the place is dire. So, it may take some time before you can place your order. They can do it manually if you ask though.
M J D: Small portions and arrived in no order, quality didn’t match price. Uninterested service provided. A lot of mix ups with the orders. Looked to struggle with delivery collections vs. Dining in customers food flow. Would not revisit.

SevenENG ̈: I've not yet been disappointed by a Yo! Sushi, and York is no exception. Whether it's the fact you're in York that makes this one better is up for debate, but I'm a lover. Good food, quiet atmosphere and friendly staff.Vegetarian options: The vegetarian chicken katsu curry was impeccable. Succulent chicken, flavorful sauce, fluffy rice, good portion size. Overall, spot on!
Jamie Darch: Service was okay but nothing special. Sushi was also okay. It’s a shame plates aren’t back on conveyer yet.
Paul Gallagher (Gally Photo): Poor since the conveyor belt doesn't allow you to pick and choose what you fancy as it goes past. Very hard to get a member of staff’s attention and they don't do anything to sort out the problem once they have your money by ordering up front on a phone. Had the korean chicken bowl. Soo sweet it was indelible. When I finally got hold of a member of staff they just shrugged, agreed it was too sweet and walked off. 😭
Jordan R: First time I'd ever visited a YO! sushi restaurant. Unfortunately due to COVID having changed things (though probably for the best in all honestly) there is no longer food constantly circulating round their conveyer belt that you can just pick from and pay at the end. Now instead you use your phone to scan a QR code to get the menu and you order and pay on there for each dish. Food was quite good, no real complaints there, I love sushi, even if it is a chain restaurants sushi. My low rating for service comes because well... There is none really, they seat you and that's it, though I will grant that food was served quickly via the belt when ordered, though (and this ties into my low atmosphere rating) we were basically the only people in there so there was no atmosphere. Felt quite dark and cold as well (not temperature wise, just hollow cold). I would also say, it is incredibly expensive. Between three of us to have a satisfying amount of food we collectively spent around £100 just for lunch, and that's with my wife who has very little appetite. All in all as a first time goer to one of these places... It was ok, wouldn't be hurrying back, I'd rather find an independent sushi or Japanese restaurant myself, especially considering that for a chain restaurant you'd expect cheaper prices than an independent, but that's definitely not the case here.
Adam Grayson: I've been a number of times, big sushi lover, as much of a chain as YO is I'm yet to be let down, always consistent. Service has been great, last time we visited there was only one waitress and she was absolutely run off her feet so service was slow, though nothing against her at all! Prices aren't too bad, but I'd miss drinks as they're the bank breaker. There is something to be said about the observed cleanliness in the kitchen, but I'm staying out of that one.

Ma W: Considering all wagamama food should be the same where you go. The food here was just not all that, tierd salad and the rest not that hot. Maybe my mistake was asking for tofu in my noodles, the waitress was ok with that on ordering, but it turned up in a bowl on its own. Cold. Luckily tofu doesn't need to be cooked. When asked to make it part of the meal and warm they did it. But it still wasn't that warm. Wagamama used to employ chefs, I think now they just employ assembly staff and it shows.
