Debbie Hay: Quick service lovely breakfast
John Ward: Good selection of beer. Well kept. A very old clientele. Nice surrounding. No complaints
KJ McIntosh: Great spot just off the station. Chicken wings are great
ROD: Nice pub food what you may expect shame the staff don't have the time to be sociable
Jamli: Ordered food and had a very confused experience. Charged incorrectly (tills fault apparently) and had a difficult time convincing staff of the error. Kids meal missing all extra elements, one meal very delayed and super microwaved to dryness. Not the best Spoons I've been in - probably just unlucky?
Sol Kazin: Best fish and chips ever. The fiesta burger was also crispy, hot and super tasty. Will return!
Timothy Jon: Typical Wetherspoons pub, decent drinks, food and prices located on the city walls York
Diane Francis: Had lovely breakfast good value and quick service
Peter Winterburn: Very busy in the place, but it did not take long for my breakfast to arrive, the breakfast was very good.👍
Jason Crookes: One of the smaller wetherspoons I've been in and full so had to stand but still gave 5stars as a good cheap pint as normal. Oh and won £50 on slots so can't complain.
Sandra Wilbourn: Really nice food but busy
kim stirk: Great
Jussy Foo: Busy, good service!
Rona Mitchell: Tried ordering food but didn't have what we wanted,so had to eat elsewhere.Found out that the chippy Micklegate Fisheries is nearby, it's not cheap but the food was delicious and well worth the money.
Allan Bryce: Had a few drinks and a bite to eat ,while we were in York, been in one spoonies you've been in them all, will return when in the area, again.
Dan MacEachern: For a wetherspoons the service was great and food was great.
Darren Halpin: It's spoons, you know what you're getting.

Lynsey Griggs: We received such friendly and inclusive welcome yesterday, my 9 year old was so nervous about coming along as a complete beginner but within minutes he’d been joined by a group of players who were happy to play and chat all things Pokemon. He had a great time, and a great offering of vegan milkshakes for our dairy free friend too!
Miss Metal Head: Great service

allan claydon: Great geek retreat very similar to the other branches I've been to feel much more like a place to stop and play games rather than a store frontAs a result you have an incredibly friendly and welcoming team working there with lots of gaming tables and space to play, this is at the cost though of range and there wasn't all that much in the way of product especially for me regards to magic the gathering beyond the booster packsNonetheless I would tell people to stop by as it is a nice spot!Kid-friendliness: Really child friendly here!
Wei Qing: 偶然路过,可惜吃过饭了,好有意思的一家店,下回一定来试试,里面好像有桌游,各种pokemon的玩偶

Al Al: One of my favourite pubs
Barry Lewis: A great choice if ales and ciders
Thomas Atkinson: Asked for a sample of the Yorkshire lager (I've never tasted it), to which the barmaid rolled her eyes and poured me what was nothing but foam. I naturally, politely said "it's OK I think I'll take the Moretti", to which once again she rolled her eyes and poured an equally frothy sip. She said, unprovoked, "this is free what are you waiting for?" and I, pretty bemused and exasperated, responded "are you serious?" She said she was serious, and reiterated that I was getting a free sip of lager. Incredible. Suffice to say me and my mates left and won't be back 🙂
Cara Duffy: Great little pu
Richard Taylor: Good entertainment. Nice pub
Gary Douthwaite: Lovely atmosphere and great beer well kept.
Argie Bargie: Nice place
Widey xyz: Stopped here an imbibed in a couple of pints and a large gin for the good lady wife.Barman was really friendly with good knowledge of all the available drinks and spirits etc.Deceptively roomy inside with a nice pub atmosphere. Ale I had (Guzzler) was spot on and not overbearing. What I would call a good "walking" ale, not too heavy. The missus had a fruity gin who's name I forget but she really enjoyed it (double of course). Great pub with a good atmosphere. And no horrible loud music.10/10.

Gerald Laycock: Always enjoy my visits to HOTM.Plenty choice craft beers although I tend to stick to the decently priced cask ales.Good food menu on offer.
Ben Alexander: It was fine, only had the one drink in here as I was in a rush. Why was I in a rush, well it took the member of bar staff about 15 minutes to serve the 2 people in front of me. My 30 minute window for a drink quickly turned into 15 minutes.

House Of The Trembling Madness: what do users think?
Diane: This place is awesome and you can order for collection if they don't stock in the shop.
Vicky Knott: Awesome place. Bar upstairs has a fabulous atmosphere. Staff are knowledgeable about their drink selection aswell as being super friendly. 👌
Francesco Puglisi: They have the widest selection of beers I've ever seen in a pub/shop.
Richard Ontiberoz: Beef stew was daily special, good and hot with very nice fresh bread. Tap bottle and can beers available.
wilfrid t: Quirky bar/restaurant with immense range of beers and terrific, good value food. Good service, lovely old premises great atmosphere.
James Browne: Fantastic.Great beer and fabulous food.
Cal Wickham: Best atmosphere in town
Gemma Boothroyd: Great gf beer selection!
John Nerney: Don’t accept cash! Very annoying!
Mat David: Great beer shop. Stock a huge range
COlin Harrison: Amazing place wouldn't have known there was a bar upstairs. Pleased someone told me. Good strong cider and beer. Great place.
Alexander Sinclair: House of trembling madness; house of drinking nirvana. Can’t describe just how superb this place is. Spirits in the basement, craft beer on the ground floor and beer/cider opulence upstairs. Just go, you’ll be telling your grandkids about it…..Just steer clear of the strange man in the corner, will try to sell you fish…..
Wayne Moon: Cracking little place, defo worth a visit
Adam Helmy: One of my favourite places for a little tipple in York! The cost bar upstairs has a great little view of York Minster.
Jeremy Stonehouse: Quirky venue. Often busy.
Le Nosfe: Huge variety of craft beer and spirits, highly recommend!
debbie veryard: Good ales, excellent food. (Real mash potato) had bangers and mash, hubby had venison and Bacon pie. Great pub and beer & Spirits shop. Will be back definitely.
Danny Dixon: Came with my girlfriend for her birthday. The place is quirky and unique. Attracts a whole different range of people. I think the most important thing to know about this place is, I suffer from bad social anxiety but I felt so at ease here as the customers who go there are all very willing to communicate and have a laugh with complete strangers. To the point me and my gf invited a complete stranger to our table as there were no seats left. He was travelling alone from Switzerland and was lovely and it made our evening. The staff even said they thought we knew him! But that is thanks to the energy and vibe the place has. The staff are lovely and very knowledgeable about the beers. I didn't know what to order so they asked what I usually drink and found one that fitted it and they got it spot on, was lovely! And strong which was a bonus! Had the Yorkshire and madness platters and they were unbelievable tasting and very filling but too good to let any go to waste. Probably the best shop/bar/eatery I've ever been to.
Jack Lacoste: One of the best pubs in the country. Great beer, fair prices, exceptional food at bargain prices. An absolute must visit for any serious beer lover.
Sean Dobson: Unique place to buy or drink
William Kay: Small eatery upstairs with many ales from around the world 🌎 to choose from. It looks like a shop from the outside so definitely go in an have a browse.

Brooke Woodward: Love this place great staff
Liam: great service, friendly staff especially millie and ella
josh champion: Great service and friendly staff especially Ella and Millie
KB KB: Very good service and clean restaurant. Food is delicious
jayne reynolds: Sausages where hard rubbery and cold. Chips were warmish the chick and mix was definitely not worth the money. Not sure what has happened to the food but this is not the standard we usually get. not happy with the food this visit
Darren Rigg: Nice pub, nice food
stephen wharfe: Good friendly staff. We phoned to check it was open on a Monday, no one picked up, but the guy on the bar returned our call. Never had a pub do this before, so impressed I added a tenner onto the tip. Food is very good, some great deals. Have to say the mac n cheese was a very small portion (one layer on an oval serving dish) which was a shame as pasta isn't expensive. We did return a few times regardless because the other meals were good value.
Jane Smith: Fantastic carvery and pudding
Norbert Peto: Extremely disappointing service! How can refuse to serve food until the kitchen designated to be open! Never come back! Obviously tell all my friends and family about it!
Antony Grabham: Good food and booze
Kelly wood: very nice, lovely food, great service, and lovely staff,
Amanda Bottomley: Booked for a group of nine on Mother’s Day. Table was reserved and ready upon our arrival. We received really good service by all staff and was also told about a free Mother’s Day drink, which was a nice touch. Our food came quickly and all meals arrived at the same time. We all ordered different things and everyone of us enjoyed our meal. Many thanks for a lovely experience 😊
Ruth Barsby: Not a bad place to get a drink and a meal, needs to be sorted at the bar it's got a really musky smell of urine or something.
James Crangle: Little bit better atmosphere today, they quaker has had a rough ride with staff problems lately, but looking a bit more promising.Still nice to meet up with the loyal customer base supporting their local, I for one will always continue to visit and hopefully they will get the support it deserves.👍
Carol Rushby: Haven't been here for a while and was really impressed with the food, and the pub looks great 👍
malcolm church: Cheap pub grub, reasonable price beer
Tyler Scott: Great pub, even better quiz!Love going here and the staff are friendly!
John McCarthy: Food was OK but not great. Had much better meals at other Green King pubs in York. The toilets were absolutely disgusting and could be smelt from the corridor.
Hazel Hardwic: Went for tea last night 25.02.23 And it was absolutely lovely didn't wait to long and the service was excellent 🙂 highly recommend 🙂
Howard Smith: To say it's a chain pub it was actually pretty nice. Quite busy at 5pm Sunday giving it a good atmosphere. Had 2 burgers and 2 drinks on a Groupon deal and it was good. Will return.
Chris J: Not the best - very few vegan choices - restricted to vegan nachos and waffle chips, hubby had surf n turf and asked for steak to be rare- it was medium to well done - last minute choice to come here - you could tell food was pre- cooked as it took 7 minutes from order to on the table - the nachos were cold with cold salsa and a very small drizzle of sheese sauce - not good. Waffle chips were ok though and our guests liked their food too - hence 3 stars

Walnut Tree York: what do users think?
Benjamin Cummings: Amazing food and amazing staff! 100% return
Kevin Macdonald: Called in after searching online for dog friendly pubs. Passed this place hundreds of times but this was our first time inside. Nice, contemporary decor. Staff were all friendly. The menu is extensive with a wide range of choice at good prices. The food we had was nicely cooked and good portion sizes and nice to see a fair few vegetarian and vegan options. One improvement could be a lunch menu with sandwiches perhaps. The view out showed a massive garden with loads of tables, both under a canopy and out in the open. Nice to discover somewhere local that we will be happy to return to.
Tania Short: great customer service by Bella and Jorge-ann. would definitely recommend to anyone in the area!

Alan Robinson: My local pub, very popular and we had a wonderful meal. Highly recommended to one and all. We were given free Guinness hats and well worth keeping. Perhaps one day they could be collectors items.
