Bedern Hall: what do users think?
Beth Howe: We enjoyed an exceptional afternoon tea in this beautiful setting, the lady that served us was so attentive and her baking was first class. The young lady that showed us round the hall was full of knowledge regarding its history, very interesting. It is a little treasure hidden in the old streets of York.
jean O'donnell: What a lovely little historic gem, quietly tucked away and beautifully kept! We had a little while with Morgan (Visitor and Volunteer Officer) when we first arrived and she brought Bedern Hall’s history to life for us as she chatted to us. The sun was streaming through everywhere and the waitress was so welcoming and moved us to the window table as soon as she could so that we could enjoy the view of the “borrowed” garden and its inhabitants (torty and white cat and a robin) and blossom/flowers/greenery - it was like being in a treehouse. The afternoon tea was delicious (we’re definitely lavender scone converts now!) and our waitress was always checking we were ok and kept the hot tea coming! It couldn’t have been a more pleasant way to celebrate my husband’s 76th!!!!
JILLIAN Lyons: Had afternoon tea here ut was lovely
Chris Dennis: We held a celebration of my father's life at Bedern Hall. The venue is absolutely beautiful and the staff so accommodating and kind, nothing was too much trouble.50 people enjoyed a wonderful afternoon tea, accompanied by some lovely home baked cakes in the historic hall.Cannot recommend more highly, thank you for your help in making the day so special.
Laurie Briggs: Fabulous venue for any occasion, lovely helpful staff xx
John Holroyd: This is a hidden away place that took some coming across ,but we'll worth the coffee and a bun, I think most people would like to spend a little time here,
Russell Moul: It was closed. Maybe another time
Anthony Richmond: Fantastic venu for all occasions
Gill Tetley: Found this little gem today Had sandwiches two with soup one with salad Cup of tea , latte and a baileys hot chocolate Will visit again when in York Excellent
David Cooper: Brilliant Christmas lunch with the York Normandy Veterans. The meal was 1st class again
T Scott: Small building one main hall with attached cafe.
Charles Wood: Excellent food and service.
Michaela Woods: I had heard a lot about Bedern hall, but was a little underwhelmed. It's a nice venue but a lot more could be done with the size and choice of furniture to make more of the space.
Carol Pearson: Very interesting & plenty of information boards explaining about the building & what it was used for
John Margerison: Not the biggest venue but excellent catering in evidence.
Martin Baistow: Brilliant first time in .what a mazing building ..walked passed so many timesLove it what a gemm
Elaine Coult: Had great catch up over afternoon tea with a glass of prosecco. On offer with Travelzoo £25 for 2 people. Everything homemade. Delicious. Tried a lavender scone. Would definitely return.
Sue Williams: Had a lovely homemade cream tea in the cafe. The short talk about Bedern Hall was interesting and good to see this hidden bit of history in York.
Alan Hicks: Wonderful afternoon tea in historic location
Keith Townson: Brilliant hidden gem
Adrian Mosses: Very friendly staff, very knowledgeable,

Geraldine Marshall: Great linedancing with Dave and Nicole 6.30 beginners and intermediate till 10.0p every Thursday night

David Frow: Wonderful venue for a performing artiste to work in.
Jo Barma: We had our wedding reception here and it was absolutely fantastic. Big thank you to Charlotte and Davinia for going above and beyond to make our day special. Everyone had a fantastic time. Great staff, great venue, great food.
Frances Postlethwaite: We have use of a grass area in the grounds for keep fit. We'll kept and fun to exercise outdoors
Rachel and Billy Best: Highly recommended. I had my wedding there last weekend. It was fantastic from start to finish. The room was set up beautifully. I could not of asked it to of gone any better. The food was absolutely amazing.
Alex Best: Great wedding venue. For more photos please check out our Facebook page at Best Weddings Wedding Car Hire York
Sam Day: When will the golf range be open again?
David Stamp: I enjoy Melodie Park, spacious venue for all events. I teach Linedance there on Thursday evenings and it's nice for customers to be able to come and park in the large car park as well.
Phill Hartley: Great place for having a party. Loads of space, a big dance floor and a nice bar area too
stephen williams: Medium sized venue, standard offerings at the bar. Nothing special but there are worse places for a party
Lynne Warwick: Top class venue
Jane Caldwell: Appears to be closed...all locked up and nobody in attendance. Dropped by hoping to use the driving range.
Sally Tulley: Been there for my keep fit exercise this morning. Go there every week, now it's open again. Good internal decoration with bar and seating as well as a large wooden floor for dancing or, in today's case, keep fit. It's a great venue with plenty of car parking. Very popular for evening events and wedding receptions.
James Hughes: Driving range mats old and worn, move as you swing. Poor quality range balls used.
Becky Procter: Fun!
Alf Slater: Very good thanks
Isaac Kennedy: Rather poor experience. By 2 o'clock they had run out of range balls. I came to get some good practice in and ended up being left with about 35 balls
Gareth Denton: We had our wedding at Melodie park on the 31/08/2017 and the venue was fantastic the food was great and most of all the passion that the staff and owners put in to the day was 2ND to none
Matty Lister Golf: Great Driving range with lessons and a practice putting room to simulate a golf green, Brilliant Practice Facility!!!

The De Grey Rooms: what do users think?
Ashley Adamson: Wonderful. An amazing experience. The tasting menu with wine pairing was superb. We were still talking about it a week later. Hope to be back before too long. Thank you.
Rob Gardner: A grandiose ballroom situated a stones throw from the minster. The toilets are rather shabby compared to the rest of the buildings rooms, hence 4 stars.
Alison Thompson: Very cold room
Black dogone: Great Christmas fair
Ann Hancock: Gorgeous
Michael Bates: Always a nice space for events, with a helpful team in a very pretty and flexible space.
Kev Green: Great for a classy night out
nea heathfield: An historic building but not exactly grand inside. A big space but acoustics not great.
Simon Harrison: Lovely venue for our conference. Well kept great facilities and staff.
Julie Toyne: Beautiful building inside and out. Very helpful friendly staff. Went to a burns night dance. Still twirling round .
Lorraine Bailey: Recently been here for a Xmas party the food was excellent.
Julie Richardson: Good food & service great venue
tim keefe: Very nice location. The rooms are very echo prone so conference calling can be challenging
SJ Feens: Great venue. The organizer woman could have better customer service skills. And their corkage policy is ridiculous when another catering service is pouring. Still, beautiful room.
Timothy Keefe: Nice place to hold an event in a wonderful part of York. The ceilings are very tall making noise a bit of an issue, but otherwise good rooms for corporate events
Frances Aggarwal: Very elegant ballroom
Steve Ashby: Not normally open to the public
Gareth Simpson: Been there a couple of times now. Beautiful hall and fantastic location. Bar is small for the number of people that fit into the hall - can result in a bit of a wait to get served. The range of drinks they stock is OK, but not great - no single malts, limited wine choice, beer options seem to depend on what bottles they've got in. Staff seem good and it's a beautiful venue, just the bar options let it down a wee bit.
Dave Gill: Great venue with beautiful rooms.
Laura Cummins: Amazing food and lovely place

I messaged back and have emailed a number of times since as well as inviting them to an exhibition ... and nobody has bothered to reply. That's just rude. Unimpressed. If they see this and respond appropriately I'll remove this negative review but for now it's what they deserve!

Merchant Taylors' Hall: what do users think?
Eve Graham: I just got married here. The setting and building are perfect and my guests loved it.It’s not ran great as a wedding venture - you need to wait sometime for replies to emails etc. Very different vibe to the event coordinators I spoke to at the Hospitium, Mansion House and Merchant Adventurers’ who were super engaged and enthusiastic. My colleague tried to book a work event here at Christmas too as she had done one there about 5 years ago and gave up after dismal responses so I think the events coordinator has changed. In fact we went to a poorly attended wedding open event at Merchant Taylors’ (was it even advertised?) and a S African man working there told my then fiancé to run / marriage is a mistake / get out whilst he can. Evidently my now husband, thankfully, laughed him off and married me! We went to a handful of wedding fairs / open days and this wasn’t the reception we elsewhere when enquiring.I’ve met some of the ‘merchants’ and they’ve been incredibly enthusiastic and interesting to talk to about the history. They and the building itself sold it to us on a visit during York Residents’ Weekend. If you’re expecting a wedding venue like others you’ll be disappointed ie there’s no support or guidance. When we booked and paid we got confirmation a week or so later (after chasing up) and when I asked what next I was l told - up to me to book suppliers. I then spent weeks finding suppliers to then discover out I had to use a list of preferred ones instead.I used some brilliant suppliers I’ll list below. You really need an on the day wedding coordinator - I used April at Kook Events thankfully. The venue will not have someone there to support you on the day, oversee moving guests, time the music, stocking toilets with loo roll, arranging tables after dinner etc. These are issues to consider when booking here v a fully ran full time wedding venue. My on-the-day wedding coordinator took over point of contact from all my separate bookings a few weeks before the big day and the only contact she didn’t hear back from was Merchant Taylors’! Who then proceeded to contact my suppliers 2 days before the wedding (causing panic and confusion) and contacting me with unnecessary questions. Stress I didn’t want and could’ve been resolved very easily by reading emails or even just contacting the coordinator.Slack was a word I heard used a fair bit. What is awesome is the value and the fact you can hire it for the morning the day before. It meant I did all my own floral displays and tables the day before and much lower cost than if I’d booked elsewhere and had to have an on the day florist. For example, Merchant Adventurers’, despite being more engaging and happy to help, could only offer their venue from 3pm on the Saturday whereas at Merchant Taylors’ I had it 9:30-2 the Friday and all day on my wedding day (meaning I could do an on site ceremony from 1).They’re hands off and relaxed which really did work for us but I know won’t for many brides I know. A coordinator is essential. I was more than happy with that.If you consider it a dry hire and the hall will only provide chairs (lots navy and dirty but fine), tables (great selection), plenty of toilets, a gorgeous setting and a stunning building and you need to do all else yourself it’s great. Think of it like you’re getting a village hall (that just so happens to look incredible) and you do all the rest rather than a wedding venue. For example your lighting is either on neon bright or off completely - I didn’t think to bring mood lighting. There’s even a real fire which we lit (you have to tend it yourself throughout the day). There’s parking up to the door for suppliers, wedding cars and infirm relatives which is superb.Amazing suppliers:Photographers: beansontoastfortwoFood: NomadsDrinks: LouisiannasMusic: Ali Lawrence piano, The Y Street Band, Filip U DJCars: Veil of YorkCoordinator: Kook EventsCelebrant: Rachael Meyers

Rachel Mills: Beautiful venue for my friends evening wedding event.
john J.A.Tavender: A beautiful medieval hall, you can feel the history just standing there
john kerbotson: We have a yearly reunion there for quite a long time this year was a compleat disaster by the proprietors the bar was not just poorly stocked it had really nothing to sell, the food as always had been excellent, this time it was a disaster and value for money was a joke it was take it or leave it AS I DID.
Peter Sinclair: Beautiful piece of history
Cecil Olver: The hall was built in 1516, and is still original. It's an amazing venue in York for weddings, conferences and various exhibition activities.
Anne-Marie Shevlin: Fantastic venue for a wedding
Gary McNelly: Absolutely brilliant venue. Daughter got married there and all guests were raving over the venue and its history. Open to public on some days as well.
Kenneth Aitchison: Great conference venue
Georgiana Gherasim: The outdoor cafe is absolutely lovely! Considering the current situation, this place has dealt with it amazingly! The food was tasty and the atmosphere pleasant!
andrew tindle: Great night . But only serve drinks in cans and bottles
Laure Sirvin: Impressive old structure. Great venue for storytelling
Sally Lowes: Lovely place.
Gary Rowley: Wonderful location, steeped in history a real treat to see inside.
Helen King: I was there for my Daughters graduation, what a stunning building in a prime location.
derrick lambert: Well kept and takes you back to the past as it was eye opener.
