4worldlovers: The park is situated in the River Ouse floodplain. When river levels are high it is necessary to close the park for safety reasons even though the water may not have entered the park. We try to keep such precautionary closures to a minimum. As a guide we use the Environment Agency Viking Recorder. A water level of 3.1 metres at the Viking Recorder is the same as the bottom of the flood wall at Butcher Terrace entrance.

4worldlovers: Homestead Park is located 1.5 miles west of York City Centre at 40 Water End, Clifton, York YO30 6WP. There is pedestrian access from Water End and Shipton Road.

Vehicular access is via Shipton Road only (use postcode YO30 5RE for satnavs). There are cycle racks at both entrances to the Park.

We can also be accessed by a number of bus routes, including the Rawcliffe Park and Ride. These can stop at Ouse Lea, opposite the entrance to our car park on Shipton Road, or at Water End which is opposite the pedestrian access gate.

The park was opened in 1904 by English social reformer Benjamin Seebohm Rowntree, son of Joseph Rowntree. He was owner of Rowntree’s Chocolate Factory. Homestead House was the home of Seebohm and his family from 1904 until 1936. As soon as the house was inhabited, he made an announcement in the Yorkshire Gazette. The fields behind his house would be made available to children attending York Elementary Schools for outdoor activities. The house was greatly extended in the late 1970s and converted into offices. It is now the head office of the Joseph Rowntree Foundation.

The park is open all year except for Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year's Day. It is free to all. The children's play area is locked 45 mins before the main park.

Car: After coming off the A64, we are located off the A1036 Malton Road to York. If you are following the A1237 outer ring road, follow the Monks Cross Link road.

Bus: Silver Line service 9 runs between 7.00am and 8.00pm every 10 minutes, and every 20 minutes after, up until 9.40pm.

Train: York centre is the closest train station, and is just a short bus ride on the Number 9 Silver Line service.

City, coast and countryside – you can take your pick if you base yourself at our caravan park. Although a convenient for those visiting York, our caravan park offers the ideal base for exploring the Yorkshire coast and countryside.

Ashfield Touring Caravan Park is a friendly, family run site for touring caravans, tents and motorhomes near to York, North Yorkshire. Our quiet, level site has facilities comprising a licensed shop, heated shower/toilet block with separate disabled facilities, laundry/dish washing room, 16A metered electric hookups, chemical disposal, TV/Recreation room, at pitch WiFi, and children's play area with adjoining Aussie electric BBQ and picnic area.

The site is set within peaceful rural countryside, yet is only 10 minutes from the centre of York. It as also an ideal location for visiting the national parks, coastal resorts and many other tourist attractions of North Yorkshire, most within an hours drive. The wooded site has an abundance of bird and wildlife, and the nearby woods have a herd of deer that can occasionally be seen.

We provide a clean and friendly level site, great for families and couples alike. We are located close to York with good 2 good bus services, and a Park & Ride facility close by. We also have a small licensed shop onsite providing the basics for your stay with us, and a Costcutter inthe village.

We welcome responsible dog owners with up to 2 dogs, but please contact us in advance if you have more four legged friends. At the end of the drive is a quiet country lane leading into woodland, so dog walks are peaceful and enjoyable.

We also have a separate rally field to which we can provide 16A electric hookups.

We offer FREE at pitch Wifi for those wanting internet connectivity whilst on holiday.

New for 2023 - Smart card electric meters installed - Smartcard obtained (£5 refundable deposit), and credited with your chosen amount on arrival, at your cost. Additional credits can ONLY be made during shop open times. Card to be returned on departure day, ONLY during shop open times.

NOTE: We have very limited space for additional cars, so if not booked in advance, you will have to find alternative off site location for additional cars.

Full payment is required at time of booking for 1 or 2 nights stays.

A £50 non-refundable deposit of (per pitch) is required to secure all bookings of 3 nights or more, with balance payable on arrival.

Arrival Time between 1pm and 7pm on day of arrival. (NOTE: A fee of £5 will be charged for arrival before 1pm)

Departure time by 11am on day of departure, unless previously argeed. (Stay Late fee will be applicable)

Please note that we do not allow fires or firepits, or naked flame of any kind.

We do not permit disposable BBQ's, but a BBQ on legs, off the ground is permitted
