Goji Cafe Vegetarian Cafe & Deli: what do users think?

Shaun Chafey: The food displayed looked enticing and attracted us into the cafe. At first we went in for coffee but then decided to have lunch as the meals we saw on other tables looked delicious.Delicious food and friendly staff

Sean Elder: Great selection of food at this York institution. Friendly staff albeit a bit chaotic and chatty with themselves so full attention wasn’t on their work. This showed at times. Soup was not warm and it took a long time to be served after ordering.Vegetarian options: Everything

Izabela “Bella” Wyremska: See you next time for lunch plus cake.Vegetarian options: All menu is vegetarian, changing often.

Mark Hemsley: I have been here a couple of times and it is no on my 'go to' list of places. The food is amazing, full of flavour, freshly prepared and with many great choices available. The menu changes so there are always specials available. The selection of salads are amazing too... really hard to decide which to have or rather which to leave out!The service is wonderful. Very friendly staff who can give helpful recommendations and make you feel very welcome and unhurried.Great range of drinks too and I loved the flowering teas.Definitely worth a visit, even if its to grab a take out!Excellent value for money.

Alans BMX: Couldn’t fault it 🙌

Catherine Anderson: . Coffee great, tried the cafeteria and soy cappuccino. The pistachio cake was delightful and the vegan scones a rare treat too. Can’t wait to visit York again so I can sample some more plant based deliciousness.

Claire Maloney: which was absolutely delicious! Nice atmosphere, always busy so on this occasion we got the slightly draughty table.

Jackie Andrade: We love this cafe. Excellent selection of very tasty food and amazing cakes. The Middle Eastern platter had a wonderful variety of flavours and texturesVegetarian options: All vegetarian or vegan with a really good choice

P H: , and I am rendered hysterical

Ashley Wright: Great food, service and excellent value for money. The portions are generous and well presented and most importantly tasted fantastic. Thanks for a great mealKid-friendliness: Kid friendly

Papa.T: On arrival we were promptly shown to our table of choice, drinks order taken after a couple of minutes, and settled down with the drinks to choose from the menu, which had very good value set menu's of 2 or 3 courses, as well as a specials menu to add choice, staff were polite and efficient. We were there early so were the first in for the evening but the place soon filled up. The food was excellent and the courses were not rushed. All in all it was a lovely evening and will definitely be returning again soon. Update! Has now closed down and has opened up as an Italian restaurant.

Orinoco Vegan York: what do users think?

Rachel: Great food, friendly staff & reasonably priced!

Peter Murphy: Epic vegan comfort junk food with their own home-made chicken and burgers

Rosa By: Delicious food, cheap and really fast!I ordered an Orinoco VFC Burger with Garlic Mayo. It came super fast and was gorgeous: it had tons vegan chicken and with lots of vegetables in it.I could have one of this any time!!! :D

Martin Hand: I'm not a vegan, but I enjoyed my currywurst that's for sure. My sister had the seitan and we agreed that these were damn good vegan fries. I would definitely go again! The staff were great and the service was simple. Nice little venue too.

Hannah Ginman-Makin: Amazing vegan fast food! Highly recommendThe vegan cheesy beef gravy loaded fries 10/10. Good portion size, friendly staff.

Gumball 92: but very well decorated with an assortment of prints and plant life. The food is well priced for the portion size and well worth the wait.I had the Vegan Hotdog, having being vegan for more than 2 years hotdogs is one thing I still seem to avoid. However, I am happy to say the one I had was delicious. The restaurant offers a wide variety of other meals as well, which I am looking forward to trying the next time I'm in York.

James Horan: Had excellent lunch. 3 great burgers and hotdog.Very good homemade burger, well seasoned and balanced texture. Hot dog also great. Well sourced. Will return when next in YorkJamesLeeds

Christie Keller (BumperDucky): Yessss. Massive portions and yummy!! I was genuinely shocked at how yummy their food was. Worth a visit for both vegan and non-vegans!

Jael Brown: Great team. Excellent food. Husband had the sriracha mayo VFC combo. It was a very healthy portion with lots of flavours. The lemon and raspberry drizzle cake went down a treat too. Would recommend whole heartedly. Enjoy!

Nicola Faulkner-Heath: Found this vegan place on Google maps.Food was excellent. Well priced. 4 tables upstairs. Look forward to going again.

Peter Madsen: Amazing vegan fast-food, and the VFC is brilliant!

Carlo Carnazza (Tallinz): Fantastic tactic food made with care and love. Absolutely amazing! Although prices are a bit high.

Siobhan Barford: Tasty food, no hot drinks, as far as I could see from the menu.

Howard Duckworth: Fantastic food and great value

David Hardick: Really good experienceFood and Staff are amazing

Michaela Knight: Wow, this was the most amazing dining experiences of my life and I'm 55, the food was fantastic, a work of art, every dish was explained in great detail, it was a master class in taste, how food is dried or frozen in order not to waste it, but every dish that came out was an explosion of detail, art and taste, we were genuinely in ore of it.The service was on another level to anything we have experienced, exceptionally fabulous, we couldn't find anything at all to moan about, nothing! absolutely amazing, amazing, amazing so much so we gave a 20% tip.If you are looking for steak and chips, then this isn't for you, but if you are looking for a once in a lifetime dining experience just go for it, we are already saving up for our next visit in summer.

Brew & Brownie: what do users think?

Annie Wu: We have been to Brew&Brownie 2 days in a row, queue for 10-15mins to get the table, even my kid said it's worth the wait, that's how good they are. Fresh ingredients, perfectly done coffee, every dish and drink was spot on. I like the special French toast very much! Highly recommend if you are visiting York, great location in central town. Kids friendly and helpful staff. Definitely will visit again next time when we travel in York.

Sam: We have really loved visiting brew and brownie time and again., especially after Eid as I wanted the first breakfast after a month to be special. The staff make this a wonderful experience with the smile on their face, which shows how truly they enjoy what they do.The food is organic and fresh, and the portions were filling to the point where we felt that lunch was not necessary while on our 6 mile hike in NidderdaleI wish they did some halal options in the future like Turkey bacon and beef sausages which would make me want to go there more often.

Ann: We were a group of 4 and it took us around an hour to be seated, which isn’t bad considering how long the queue was when we went here during the Easter hols. The eggs royale and avocado toast were good but nothing substantial. I’d recommend getting the apple pancakes as they were the best dish we got.

Ferhat Yarkın: Ordered long black, oat flat white, and a cake here. Coffee was delicious but no need to wait for the coffee as there are places around with similar level of coffee. Couldn’t finish the cake as it simply didn’t fit my taste.

Marios Ilias Givannakis: Just perfect.Polite and quick service. Very delicious food. You have to try it!Vegetarian options: Veg roll

Emma Precious: My go to place for the best pancakes ever.Other menu options are delicious too, however I am partial to an American pancake stack.Mix it up a bit with seasonal specials. They do the best hot chocolate in town, I love my hot chocolate extra hot and they never disappoint.Always a pleasure to visit here.

The Olive Tree: what do users think?

Conroy Correy: We arrived at 20:00, we had booked a table in advance but when we arrived we were sat down without asking a confirmation on the booking. I could tell the waitresses were busy. Me and my partner ordered some wine which was lovely and had a scan through the menu. Plenty of good food. We decided against the starter and went straight for main course. I originally wanted the lamb shank but they didn’t have any - the waitress was quick to recommend an alternative which was very helpful. I had the lamb mushroom kebab with green beans, potatoes and salad. It had a really tasty sauce too. My partner had the stuffed chicken which she said was lovely. We were very happy with our mains! Afterwards we had deserts. I had the crumble and my partner had tiramisu. The tiramisu was lovely but I felt let down by my crumble.. could tell it was just a microwave job. It even came out in its black microwaveable packaging. I wouldn’t recommend the crumble.Overall I’d say 4 stars!Would like to thank the Olive Tree for a nice evening.

Anne West: lovely meal lovely staff

Bill's York Restaurant: what do users think?

Mista T: Booked a table here during our visit to York. The restaurant is pretty funky inside and the staff were polite, friendly and attentive. The adult meals were absolutely fantastic, genuinely fresh, tasty grub! The rosemary fries were awesome! We took advantage of the "Kids eat free" promotion. While the fish goujons were great, the burger was pretty disappointing. I know it was free, but it was pretty overcooked and dry. The wee fella ended up just eating some of the bun and chips. Didn't want to make an issue as it was free, but maybe one to avoid on the kids menu if visiting. The dessert more than made up for it though, with both kids demolishing the delicious ice cream! All in all, it was a very pleasant meal out at averyvreasonable price. Would highly recommend!Kid-friendliness: The kids eat free promotion was a nice addition!

Laura Morgan-Watson: Have been a big lover of Bill’s since I first went to one in 2014, sadly the quality of food has slightly gone down since then but on this occasion I really enjoyed my food. I had the ‘nduja & burrata meatballs…they were delicious and I also had a Rosè spritz which was refreshing and not too bitter. The other diners I was with had mixed reviews…chicken burger a little dry and the beef burger not as good as previous times. I cannot fault the service though and I also like the option of splitting the bill when you scan the QR code. Overall, 4* as I enjoyed my food and it was a nice lunch 😊

Alex Elliott: Great service. Friendly staff, food was good, fast and only lost a star due to the fries not being hot and not being rosemary and red onion salted as advertised. Had the vegan “dirty” burger which was honestly one of the best burgers I’ve had and the kids loved their food. My 6 year old said that he rated it “infinity out of infinity” which says it all really.Vegetarian options: Dirty vegan burger and a few other really good vegan/vegetarian options

Lyn Botha: I loved this restaurant. The atmosphere, the food, and the service were all great. We booked ahead, which I would recommend.Parking: As York is basically a no car city, you need to get public transport.

Shaun French: Great family place to eat. Not cheap but the restaurant looked great, the food was really interesting and tasty and the service first classVegetarian options: Kids get vegetarian options tooKid-friendliness: Immediately given a set of crayons and a colouring pad

Chrid Doggett: Plenty of items for sale and locally grown veg. Reasonably priced.

John Cooper (choffee): A great little shop with everything you could need. Loads of local vegetables, some picked that day. You can weigh out what you need for most things. Lovely and helpful staff as well. A proper community feel to it.

David Gardiner: Excellent and friendly service. Have been a regular customer for years.

Simon Weeds: Soul food peeps.Organic good for the mind and ting.

Dorothy Nott: Very friendly and helpful staff and the place to find unusual items, organic produce and great bread delivered daily.

Stuart Manning: Great selection and very friendly

Eric Lund: Full marks for a great ethos. Unfortunately the throughput of their fresh veg is slow so they can get a bit gnarly at times. Good selection of products to buy though.

Dominika: Nice choice of freshly ground coffee and other organic/vegan/ethical products. Very local place

Penny's Bespoke Foodhouse: what do users think?

Jane Ross: Friendly staff and deeee licious food for all three of us, well worth the short walk from townVegetarian options: Good options

Mr Anstee: Traditional cafe. I had the full breakfast. The "bespoke" in the name comes from being able to order everything pretty much as you want it. I had crispy bacon, black pud, brown toast and chilli sauce on the lightly done eggs. Friendly staff, good coffee, quality ingredients and a decent price for inside the ring road. I'd definitely take people here.

Shem W: I never usually have a full fry-up but it was freezing and I was in need of something hearty! It was a generous portion, excellent value for money, and made bespoke, so soft eggs and crispy bacon but not at all greasy. You could tell the produce was good quality. The service was lovely and welcoming from the outset. It’s not the place for a speedy meal but it was so nice not to feel rushed. Will definitely visit again.

Owen Kavanagh: Very nice people and grate breakfast

Siobhan Saunders: Lovely warm welcome and a treat for our dogs. Bacon bap was fantastic!

Jane Jackson: how we wanted our fried eggs cooked and how crispy we wanted our bacon. 😋😋😋

Stuart Wilson: Lovely owners that were very accommodating in terms of my annoying allergies and cooked a fantastic breakfast.Dietary restrictions: Coeliac, gluten free

Andy Russell: I love this place and Penny is a very warm and welcoming person. Food is wonderful!

Junbo Zhao: Really nice to see reopen after the Pandemic. We went here one month ago and had a lovely brunch. People here are so nice like three years ago when I first came to York, first time going abroad for education, tasting "first brunch" in England. Thx the lovely food and nice people here which makes the wonderful memories. Sry to forget the photos, but the new dish omelet with cheese and ham is really tasty.

Adriana Ionescu: Excellent food, lovely host, so nice and welcoming ! We will come again

Samantha Goldberg: Cannot recommend Penny’s enough!! I’ve been twice with a friend and my only regret is not being able to go more often! The owners are incredibly kind, hospitable, and they make the food themselves. It’s currently just an awesome mother/son duo and they are crushing it. Delicious homemade food, friendly environment, and a bang for your buck. Who could ask for anything more? Go now!

Oli Clarke: Simply the best cafe in York. Penny and Cas are friendly, down to earth and welcoming. Very reasonably priced and good quality food. A great selection of food and drink choices too. I often go most weekends and highly recommend to anyone considering a visit. Whether solo or in a group, it's a great space for all!

Laura Wymant: Wonderful breakfast and catered for.some very fussy egg eaters.xxxx

The Ivy St Helen's Square York: what do users think?

Joseph Newman: It’s a nice, nowhere near Ivy London, Manchester, or Leeds. It’s a very toned down version with, for example, a coat stand rather than a wardrobe or cloak room. Service is the same for every guest, courteous but standardised, and the food and drink selection is reasonable. On this visit there was a full range, which was great compared to last time. Overall, a good visit, and nice staff, food, and drinks.

Donna Drakeford: First time visit for me. The decor was lovely and the service was excellent. The vegetarian choices were a little basic, so as I am pescatarian, I chose fish & chips. My husband had Shepherds pie, and we all had arranchini balls to start with. My daughter had the same mains as me.The arranchini balls were nice but would have been better served with a sauce as they were a little dry.The fish & chips were nice, as was the Shepherds pie. The Creme brulee was lovely, as was the chocolate bomb.Presentation was good, and my daughters peanut allergy was handled well.It is a very noisy, busy restaurant. The price was average for these days in a nice restaurant. All in all a pleasant lunch. If I was in the area I might call in for breakfast as my husband says it is very good, and the cappucino was excellent.

Craig Bond: Called in on the off chance we could get a table without reservation on a busy Saturday lunchtime and the front on house staff happily accommodated our custom to show us to our table. Once seated the service was very good. The only slight negative feedback I could give is that we were charged £4.95 for a bottle of table water offered to use by the waiter. Though at no point did we get informed this would be chargeable. Irrespective of this small detail it didn't dampen our experience and would happily return to The Ivy in York.

Café FeVa: what do users think?

Jo G: this is a little hidden gem. It's got an eclectic mix of furniture, but tea came in proper tea cups and sauces.I suspect the building work and lack of signage has taken a toll on this business... So please check it out!

Sin Hsin: A gem found. We were looking for a place to try Yorkshire pudding. This Cafe is located on the first floor of the Antique shop like everyone mentioned, so when you step into the cafe it might got an “Antique smell”, which not everyone keen to it. However, we were fine with it and you get used to it after awhile, the staff was very friendly and nice with the order process. We waited for 20 minutes for our food, and we were so pleased with the wait. The food itself was absolutely delicious. The first bite of the Yorkshire pudding was incredible. The hot sandwich is crispy but not oily. Food was very hot and a good temperature to eat.I ordered a smoothie which also great. It was our first meal in York and it’s exceed our expectations. We definitely will recommend this place to everyone, and will definitely go back.

HJ Park (Rebecca): cappuccino also.Recommended dishes Carrot Cake …

lee nan: Good price , nice locationCheesecake is less sweet with crispy crumble love it💖Latte is also good too 🏻

andrea errington: Lovely cafe, glad I found it on a google search. I preferred cafe FeVa to other popular places for afternoon tea in the city and I say that with confidence, as I visit York for an extended stay at least twice every year. Beautiful afternoon tea for four with a good choice of teas too. What we couldn’t eat, we took home 😊

Elise Dale: Great service. I had a waiter called freya she made sure to check on us and made it a overall enjoyable experience. The food was lovely and very well priced. The cake was delicious also.

Benedict Guo: This is an absolutely brilliant place for brunch. I usually has no appetite in the morning, but when my friend took me to this place I thought”okay, why not”. Thanks to myself, I made the right choice. The Full English breakfast is taste and fresh, I can enjoy the scenery outside the window while eating as well. BTW, I talked with the owner and she was very enthusiastic about her food and restaurant, very friendly lady. You should definitely try this restaurant
