24/7 Fitness York Gym: what do users think?
Marius Matulevicius: Really nice gym. Great staff. Very friendly environment ☺️👌
Laura Higgins: Brilliant gym for a great price, staff are always so happy and helpful, the gym is also super clean!
Kevin Mainprize: Well kitted out and staff great , 24/7 allows everyone to enjoy the gym around busy lifestyle. Cost is fair to .Been here 3 yrs now ..excellent gym ,friendly experienced staff and great for busy life style this gym as never shut ! 💪 good equipment to
Lisa Yarrow: Great for the ladies own gym, as I'm not that confident in using the gym down stairs
Simon Kneafsey: Amazing gym. Staff and personal trainers are so friendly. Gym is always clean and tidy. Good range of classes at no extra cost. Never thought I would fall in love with a gym but I love it here and always enjoy training. Thank you 24/7 York.Michaela Kneafsey.
Simon Marshall: The Carlsberg of affordable gyms in York. I’ll challenge you to find better for the price and access. If you’re worried about the intimidation or nervousness of joining a gym then this really is the place for you to try. Friendly and welcoming with all levels of fitness in there. Excellent facilities and parking. Good range of machines and weighs, classes and secure lockers. If there’s one thing you’re going to do for you this year then make it joining this place
beth robinson: Good size gym and good atmosphere, Staff are really friendly would recommend. And really cheap!
Aigars Dzuls: Is was good
Marcus Pickles: Took a membership out in 2019 before COVID, requesting in the gym to cancel I was advised by the floor staff to email a ticket in which I did, i received an automated reply to that, fast forward to 2020 my membership was still active after receiving a price increase, I called them again, asked if I had a direct debit active and I was told NO! Not only this but I was told to ignore the price increase as I was sent it by accident. So I did. Fast forward to 2022 I receive another price increase nothing since. I call up this time and they tell me I do have a DD active, I email in and they use all the excuses under the sun, no phone recordings and membership is to be cancelled directly at a bank which I was never told. AVOID. 1*No customer service Cares or wants to help and the director Sarah used the scape goat of it’s the members responsibility besides me being told otherwise on several occasions.
Noor Jones: Just watched a personal trainer (the one with a raspy voice ) be extremely rude to a two women who were working next to him and his client. He appeared to enjoy this and was smirking as he was winding them up. He started arguing with them for something another customer did. Really awful !! Not acceptable behaviour.
legit ako: Always being cleaned and that’s the main reason for my gym changeLoving the atmosphere and you can just crack on with your workoutGood work york team 💪🏽
Jorvik Fitness: Nicely organised, clean and spacious gym with plenty of machines and free weights to use. Lack of staff members at the desk was disappointing. Vending machines need updating as it wouldn’t allow me to pay with a very commonly used card.
Andy Whittle: Great gym for the money. It's a bit too busy during peak hours, but not so bad it'd make me stop going.I personally think they need to add another free weights bench, another squat rack and another cable machine. These are the things that are most used, so difficult to get on during busy hours.Either way, good value for money.
Alan Britten: Great gym
Wade Womersley: Well equipped gym sometimes with an annual deal quite often. Even without, very cheap for a year. Trainers are friendly, most of the users are too. Rarely too busy in the morning or lunch. Classes tend to make the car part look busier than it is.
Michael Duze: Well equipped gym. The 24 hour access is great.
Nico Bee: Great customer service, great instructors. I love the ladies only area of the gym and I also love the fact you aren't penalised for missing classes
Andy: Love this gym feels like home soon as I arrive . I would tell everyone to go enjoy the full facilities this has.
Paul Boyes: It's great on a weekend at the moment for me, not that busy, get to do what I can without waiting for others to finish.
marion fell: Brilliant.
Simon Pratt: Great gym love it.

Supersonic Fitness Ltd: what do users think?
G T: A travesty this is closing. Was by far the best gym in York, friendly staff, great cafe, brand new equipment, hygienic, great vibe and atmosphere. Please reconsider!
Louise Atkinson: Without doubt best gym I’ve ever been to.It looks sleek and modern, all the equipment is new and well maintained and all the staff and other members are really friendly, the people watching out of the window while you’re doing cardio is an added bonus! Honestly couldn’t recommend this place highly enough.
Carrie-Ann Hallett: I was a member for the year in 2022 and unfortunately recently ended this due to moving house, but will definitely be returning on individual passes when I visit the city centre. A stunning gym, beautifully set out, new equipment and the friendliest PTs. Classes are great, diverse offering, great times and the coaches make them accessible for all fitness levels. Nat and Charlotte really get to know each individual to help you challenge yourself to reach your goals. The 6.45 class group are such a friendly bunch and create a welcoming and motivational space to work out. The cafe food is consistently delicious and a great place for a coffee if you fancy a change from working from home. Lydia puts on some great gym socials too on a regular basis if you’re looking to meet new, likeminded people in York! To top it all off the changing rooms are lovely and there’s even a sauna hidden away that you can book. Supersonic goes above and beyond your standard gym!
Eve Graham: I love my gym and staff member Deena
Sanam Tolani: Very gorgeous gym. The place is very clean and tidy. Not very crowded and loud place. Staff very friendly and helpful. They are always available when needed. I would recommend for the gym.
KB Huxley: Great place - much more than just a gym
Kyle Allan: Great cafe and friendly staff
Alex-Jane Hardstaff: Found this place by chance on Thurs 13 April and stopped by for vegan breakfast-delicious, plus oat milk coffee. Was made by welcome, friendly, happy staff. then bought 2 vegan yummy sweet delights to take out. Will return soon
Rich Sugarman: Very modern and quiet. Pricy at 12 pounds for a day pass, but worth it if staying in 6ork city centre.
Rich Jones: Five stars all day long. Great environment, superb equipment, brilliant staff, tasty food. Great value #investinyourhealth
Faihaa Naser: Very clean place with a good trainer.
Susie Wood: Supersonic is a welcoming oasis of calmness in the middle of York. The classes are great and the staff always treat you as if you’re really special. During lockdown, I hurt my shoulder and was able to visit supersonic for a massage with Nat. A few visits with her care and attention soon saw me back to normal. I now regularly visit for a sports massage and regard it as an essential part of my fitness regime. Thanks to Nat, I always look forward to the next visit.
Victoria Freedman: Really fab gym! Not only are the staff super friendly and approachable - but so are the other members and there has been a lovely welcoming atmosphere from day 1. Feels more like a community than just a fitness centre. The classes are really amazing and only have a small number of individuals in each one - a great range from yoga to barre to strength to HIIT. I was even lucky enough to win a free PT session (with Damian) which was amazing to learn how to use the equipment safely and effectively - it also allows me to use piece of equipment I wouldn't have felt able to approach before. All round great gym - it is definitely great value for everything you get!
Irene Condemi: I spent most of my life convinced that I hate to work out, and one day I had a barre class with Charlotte that changed everything - She is a great teacher, she helps me pushing myself but at the same time she is super kind and supportive. The yoga classes with Rebecca are also superb, she is very knowledgeable and friendly, she pushes us during the class but at the same time she always make sure that we are comfortable with the practice, suggesting alternative poses when we are challenged. It is a very positive and supportive environment, I am definitely signing up!
Kyoungmi Kim: I really enjoy the classes and facilities here. Staff members are friendly and helpful!
Toby Foulds: Absolutely fantastic facilities, a great space to work out in and the staff (especially Damian who gave a great class) are brilliant.Would strongly recommend
Tracey Wright: Positive:QualityFabulous breakfast! The best I think I’ve ever had 😊Friendly staff. Nothing was too much trouble. Shame I don’t live here as it would be my weekly treat.
Lewis Williamson: Positive:ProfessionalismGood equipment, affordable membership. Definitely considering signing up.
June Matthews: I have been going to Supersonic for personal training with Nat for nearly 2 years. She pushes me to work hard but but knows my limitations which makes me feel at ease and is why I keep going back. The food in the Supersonic Cafe is fantastic and Ash the chef is very helpful when it comes to ordering take away food for special occasions. I never dread going to the gym because I know Nat and the team are going to make me feel so welcome as soon as I arrive. Brilliant gym, amazing cafe and fab PT's!
Around York: The gym doesn't get crowded so you can guarantee a good workout without waiting to use some equipment. I also like being able to use the studio area downstairs to workout when there aren't any classes on as sometimes it's nice to have a space to yourself. The changing facilities are spotless and I'm looking forward to trying out the recovery zone.
Isla Coole: Positive:Professionalism

Energise Leisure Centre: what do users think?
linda anderson: My grandson goes to kixx football on a Thursday night
A Z: Timetable is getting more and more limited as prices increases. There's damage and repairs such as a hole in the swimming pool ceiling that was there before Covid. It's such a shame as when this was first built it was a brilliant facility with a wide variety of activities with times to suit those who work full-time. Now it's just a gym with a limited availability pool and the odd fitness class. They used to offer zumba, aerobics, step aerobics, netball etc but all of this has gone. The only dance based class is Bokwa which is repetitive, boring and the attendees are very cliquey - heaven forbid if you stand in a spot someone else had the previous week on your first (and only) time going! Also calls itself a cashless site when there are things like lockers that take.....cash.Loads of great instructors lost following the pandemic. Understand they're not getting enough funding and the energy crisis is hitting them hard. I worry for the community and the people still employed there that work really hard that this will close down if something isn't done soon.A real shame it's a shadow of its former self. :-(
Freddie: Great facilities for swimming or gym. Gym has equipment for all levels of fitness and the classes offer a good variety.
Robert Agnew: I swim for fitness twice a week and really enjoy it a good 50 minutes in the water
Stuart Jones: Brilliant community leisure centre. Well equipped and clean.
Noah Riley: Absolutely shocking. We decided not to book as we planned to go somewhere else but they were full. We came here instead and they had spaces open, my grandma payed and used her membership. I don’t have a membership but they needed to put me on the system even though if we booked online I wouldn’t of been on their system they requested my name and my email address which was unnecessary as she could of quite easily charged us an extra £3.50 but no they needed to sign me up as a member on their system. We were stood there for 20 minutes been Nagged. Would not go here again and would not recommend
Kate B: Great facilities here.
James Sanderson: Do not start any sort of direct debit with these guys because if you do it is nigh impossible to cancel it, and if you do don't bother asking for a refund as they will send you a form to fill out online that doesn't work, when you try to click next it deselects the last tick box on the form and dose nothing.
Paul hunter: A good quality gym and pool
Nick T: Literally wasted three nights after work attempting to go climbing, the first time I spent 45 minutes on the phone waiting to get through but to no avail, so I drove 40 mins across town to be told my account has been wiped after they updated the systems and I can’t climb without been signed off. Was told to come before 6 when an instructor is here. So went two days later and was told no one was there again.Tried again last night after ringing up again to no answer and leaving work early at 4 to see the instructor to be told come back after 7.30!!!Literally so unapologetic, and unhelpful the younger staff were really nice all three times but one older guy made me feel very unwelcome. It was a very much “not my problem mate” kind of experience.I’ve been offered no reimbursement for spending 6 hours on the phone and travelling to and from to just leave feeling annoyed and frustrated. Always loved this gym, really not happy with my experience.I never ever leave reviews but I got so annoyed I felt like I had to, I’ve never known a climbing wall where you can’t get signed off for Belaying!
Rebecca Kearney: Look at the comments on Facebook. Months of complaints and non-payment of refunds, no responses, suggestions that only AI exists and no fixing of anything or meaningful apologies. Getting through and asking questions is impossible online. There is no way to speak to a person. I have tried for days and even when you get through to a potential human, you are thanked for your understanding and cut off. The website is fussy and navigation can be trial and error, just like the phone system. I find this inexplicable in this age of fabulous technology. This is a shame as this sorry website and booking system is a customer's first connection often with a centre and if not first, certainly a poor source of information and contact. The two stars are for the friendliness of staff once you've sweated on the internet / phone and made it to your booked activity.
Ali C: I took my 10 and 8 year old niece and nephew swimming for the first time since lockdown yesterday. Booking was easy, we received a warm and friendly welcome on arrival. We started in the small pool as my nephew was a bit anxious after not swimming for nearly 2 years but he soon gained his confidence back and we then moved to the main pool. It was absolutely freezing. I used to swim here a lot and have always found it on the cold side but yesterday it was really cold. We swam and played for a good 40 mins, mainly in the deep end as they wanted to practice diving. After all of that time we were then approached by a lifeguard who asked if they could swim! I said they could and she obviously didn't believe me even though they had been diving in and swimming in the deep end for ages. She then asked if she could do a swim test on them and made them both swim a length which they both did. If there were any concerns about their ability, why were we allowed to be in the deep end for so long? It was very confusing. We then went back to the little pool to try to warm up to then be told that we couldn't swap between pools due to numbers even though we had started in the little pool then moved without a problem. It seemed that there was a lack of consistency between the lifeguards and the rules which doesn't instill confidence. Sadly, I won't be returning due to the temperature of the water which was pretty unbearable for me.
SargentMicat: Dirty pool and nice staff
Teri Humphries: Clean and friendly.
H Ra: During Covid, when most gyms were doing their best to keep lines of communication with their clients open, this gym shut down their phone line. Now when you call, you must listen to three minutes of blurb before you get to a message stating your call won't be connected to a person and to check the website. Lockers cant be used unless you have a 20p piece handy (which is kept). A local newsagent laughed when I request a 20p piece in my change as so many people stop at his shop on the way to the gym to do this. Please make things more convenient for your users.
fraser forsyth: Easy to book online in advance, very quiet due to the social distance measures currently in place.Don't forget your (non returnable) 20p coin for the locker.Large gym and two swimming pools one for small children.
Ian Thompson: Since acomb energise has reopened since lock down and covid have been twice with my 9 yr old son . Both times I can't fault how u are coping and measures in place reguards covid . The staff are very polite and friendly . The swimming area and changing rooms are spot less and I see staff/lifeguard constantly cleaning! Every area is clean . Toliets spotless . The numbers of people in the pool is set to the same amount and no more. Plenty of space .I feel very safe and do not worry I'm being put at risk using your services . Swimming means alot to my son and its the only thing we've wished for during lockdown and both times been have made us so happy . Thanku to all staff and management should be proud of there staff at York acomb energise . Many thanks Mrs katie Thompson
T-series -: IS GOOD GYM BUT IF THEY ADD MORE TIME IT WOULD BE MORE BETTER. THEY SHOULD FINISH 10PM NOT 8PM. IF THEY CHANGE THERE TIME I WOULD DEFINITELY JOIN BACK
Nick Almond: Great Gym with high quality equipment and never feels crowdedSufficient on site parking. Helpful staff and good range of opening times
OEDIPUS CATAMITE: Pool is too small and having paid £16 for me and my 3 kids to get into aquasplash , I was asked for a further £1.20 for a locker, and the session only lasted 55 mins.Yearsley is a far better pool and far better value for money.
christopher squire: Been training hard 2day in gym Lucas the elephant 🐘was in hopefully 1 day I will have arms like I'm those swans are sick

Anytime Fitness York: what do users think?
Lewis Serino: Stay away. Not going to bore u people just check anytime in trustpilot the truth is all there to be seen. Scam is all I have to say!
Mark Pearson: Went for an interview there. First impression I got was that it was too quiet. Plenty of equipment to use but have to walk all over the place to find them.No atmosphere either
Lorna R: Would not recommend this gym. When I first signed up it was great the team was fab but as soon as it was sold on it went straight down hill. I had to put my membership on hold due to me having an accident and I did go back but then found out I was pregnant and had alot of issues though my pregnancy that stopped me going. They were never understanding and I felt I was constant emailing or on the phone to them to cancel my contact. They caused me alot of unnecessary anxiety and stress though my pregnancy. I definitely wouldn't recommend better gyms and cheaper too in York. Such a shame from when I first joined.
Cerysx04 x: Disgraceful place, they harass customers when they want to end contracts because they can’t afford it. Worst gym in York.
Malcolm Lobo: They will charge you unnecessarily even though they owe you a refund for overcharging you. Moreover, they have the audacity to send messages through a collection agency. AVOID THIS GYM !!!!
Trish Jackson: PLEASE AVOID THIS GYM!!! Avoid, avoid, avoid! Awful sales tactics, bad equipment and nasty lady on reception!!
Colin Robinson: I did not visit Anytime FITNESS York for a workout as my severe arthritis stopped that. I went for a back massage by Yan Matusek who has relocated there from Layerthorpe. There is a large array of gymnasium equipment spread over two floors so I was surprised that only one member was present working out on an apparatus. How long can it continue?
Laura Robertson: Unfortunately I stand by many of the 1 star reviews below for Anytime Fitness York. When I originally signed up over a year ago the place was brilliant - great friendly staff, not just after money and very transparent with consistent regular classes. I wanted to leave my contract with Anytime Fitness the minute they suddenly changed all their staff and classes with no previous discussion or mention to the paying members of these changes. The focus of all the classes isn't general exercise anymore it's all about muscle and moving into the more professional side of fitness which again is not the gym contract I signed up for. It's a shame because what was a friendly gym turned into a hostile under staffed environment with no faces I recognised anymore. I can't believe a professional company can just completely change and pretend that isn't a breach of contract from when I originally signed it. When I informed them of my disappointment in the changes and wanted to leave they essentially kept telling me I was incorrect - although I couldn't sign up for any classes at 9am like I had for the last 6 months. After finishing paying my contract as they continued to make me pay it off I am happy to say I am no longer a member of Anytime Fitness so be careful and understand what your signing up for as things can change very quickly in this gym.
Vincent Gee: A great experience I got visiting the York club for 4 days as member of another club. I was greeted by the club manager as I forgot key fob in Nottingham so I thought I wouldn’t be allowed to enter. The club manager Tom and tbh I couldn’t find someone so helpful and so much to say. He went to great lengths to make my stay with the club an experience.
Ashley Stead: Good gym. They just need a rolling step machine, those bouncy cross trainer machines do not give the same workout
Kevin Macdonald: Below is my original review from 3 years ago. Wow has it changed recently. The best manager and team members have left, a new manager only lasted weeks, the office door is closed so gone is the friendly welcome and goodbye that made this a personal experience. Nobody about to seek help or advice. Equipment cleaning isn’t so hot now which in Covid times isn’t great. One of the four bathrooms out of order for 4 months. To make matters worse after 3 years of my custom they have now said the daytime subscription has been scrapped so I would have to pay 82% more! What a way to reward your custom. There’s a new gym literally 500 feet away with a pool and five aside. There’s gyms in York starting at £15 per month. It seems the new owners care about profit rather than providing a quality product.Such a shame as this was a great gym but they have ruined it .Visited several local gyms to view them first and very happy that the one I chose is the nearest and is so good. A good selection of equipment over two floors. Plenty of parking out front. Staff are very friendly and always say hello. Surprised how quiet it is meaning I’ve never had to wait for a machine. The place is spotless, especially the bathrooms/showers. The Anytime app has thousands of exercises and workouts to keep you motivated. I can also use the one near my Mums in Sheffield when visiting her (although the Sheffield one isn’t as big or as clean as this one). Very happy with my choice and already feel much better after just a few weeks.
William Craven: Been a member for many years. Sadly it’s not the place it used to be. The gym used to be an amazing place to train & meet & chat to other members. Sadly a lot of members have left along with the best manager & his team. I myself had to raise issues of cleanliness which got addressed after a few other complaints to go with it. But very recently my gym membership along with others was raised in price without 30 day notice or emails. Just raised the price without clarification. Breaking contractual rules. I’m not to bothered about a price rise. But to just put the price up without saying just shows what they think of there members! Avoid this place as there is a lot better gyms which offer you more for your money
S. Quek: Ever since Dom left, the place has been deteriorating slowly. Equipment is getting worn (labels are falling off, leather is cracked on the benches, one of the machines has a cracked handle, silicone bands have fallen off some locker keys), blue roll is no longer in good supply, the disabled toilet has not been working for months, and the front office is now cluttered with a messy and unsightly shelf. The general floor area feels a little gritty and grimy as well. The Instagram page is very pushy, always trying to get new members to sign up or purchase supplements.
Andy Goodwin: Clean variety of equipment
Joe James: Sadly, I would no longer recommend this place after their very recent change in management/multiple staff leaving. They now treat their paying and loyal customers like numbers on a spreadsheet, exploiting every opportunity to get money out of you, rather than understanding your indivdual situation. Exploitatory policies, poor service/communication and poor maintenance of the gym too. Avoid.
Richard Mercer: Great small gym
hannah burns: Not professional.dont think they know what they are doing. Overpriced better cheaper gyms I'm the area.would not recommend
Aria Ormandy: Wonderful gym with very friendly, helpful staff. The gym in general is always clean & provides a great atmosphere. Gym manager & staff do a great job keeping the gym in great condition, especially with COVID precautions. I've recently moved out of York and have tried other locations but will continue coming to Anytime in York because I can't bear part with it.
Lee Sparling: Gym excellent, very clean, machines constantly cleaned, plus you give a wipe over before you start and when finished on machine, staff excellent, like talking to friends, always very helpful. Feel very safe in the gym, would not hesitate to recommend 😊😊😊😊😊😊
Josh Adger: Great gym, let me tell you
Ron Pedley: Great venue. Like a second home. Very friendly and relaxed. And THE Cleanest venue I've been in since the pandemic and before

Ebor Fitness: what do users think?
Thomas McEwan: Been a member previous and its a lovely gym with everything you need. The only issue is it's on the small side, so when it gets busy you do struggle to fit in what you want to do.
B: All the staff are really nice, they have a chest freezer full of GSN frozen protein food which is tasty and convenient. The gym is what I refer to as a old school gym it’s got character and great equipment you won’t run out of plates 🏋🏼 tried a few gyms in York and this my favourite one.
John L: Good equipment, decent price, friendly staff and the customers tend to be reasonably helpful as well. It is small so it can feel pretty busy sometimes, but it's not the end of the world.
Scot Gordon: Super friendly and welcoming. I am new to the area but have made to feel right at home here.
Patrick Frei: Nice Building, access without beeing member and very cheap. Friendly people and good infrastructure. It would be nice if there were some rings and high bars.
Emilia: I went to York on holiday and Ebor was close to my Guest House. I went every morning while I was in town. Great range of equipment, well kept, it's very clean and the people are so friendly and welcoming!I met Pauline, she's the owner's mum and works at the Gym, she was absolutely delightful, we had a bit of a chat and made me feel right at home. I can't wait to go back. Thank you for everything!
Gavin Lewis: Friendly, no frills gym which doesn't cost the earth.
Riza: Great equipment great atmosphere, nice friendly staff. Much better than all the other gyms!
Del Mitchell: Nice gym, relaxed and welcoming.
Abby Mycroft: Great equipment, always clean, lovely staff
Jasper Law: Staff are all brilliant, great selection of machines, and great price. Most importantly for me, the atmosphere is fantastic. I didn't get on well with the atmosphere at the sports village, ebor feels way more motivated.I'm an incredibly weedy guy (for now!) but never feel unwelcome, and I see people of all shapes and sizes working out and vibing with other gym goers. Great place.
Tony Hookham: You'll be glad you made the effort.Great gym with plenty of help and advice
Faraz hussain: Very good gym, quality equipment
Kye McDowall: Great gym, friendly staff, great prices, top air conditioning in summer too can't go wrong!
Dave Regan: Great gym , helpful staff and all at the right price .
andrew sadler: I have been coming here for months now, as a below the knee amputee I have been well looked after and made to feel at home even after my session is over I have found them to be a good fit for me and my needs
chris salvador: I could of picked any gym in the York area so I pickedEbor fitness.I have used many gyms in my 66 yrs but I foundEbor gym up in the top range .Very friendly intro .. great group of people.Competitive priced.. Alll you need to keep fit, stay healthy and build muscle.Thank you
Kenny Gordon: Been going to Ebor Gym the last couple months since relocating to York. This has been a good decision and very satisfied with the overall experience.Staff welcoming and helpful.Equipment of a good standard.Positive atmosphere with those using the gym sensible about use of equipment and happily share with others.Thankfully not for aimed at posers but a gym that has good opening hours, equipment and motivating vibes.Place to go if looking for results.Oh and I enjoy the music so that's a bonus!Keep up the good work.
Hamza Waseem: Amazing gym, feels like them hardcore pumping iron gyms 💪
Sketch Norris: Fantastic gym, if your looking for a old school gym with great weights then this is a great gym. It's a great place to go and buckle down and feel the burn

PureGym York: what do users think?
Martin Li: Way to busy for the times I go, classes are too loud and it's just too over crowded. People sneaking in together is also an issue, why bother paying a membership when you can sneak in with your mate. Wownt be coming here again
Grant Dennis: I enjoyed my training
M: Every time I come here the free weights are a COMPLETE MESS. Other branches always have them tidy and in the correct order. Aside from that it's all good.
Kevin Lakey: Awesome 😎 👌🏻💪🏻💪🏻❤️
Despoina Sampatakou: Very clean and well equipped gym. Not a fun of their membership policies (i.e. you need to call to cancel your subscription) but the gym at York is very nice.Edit: I have to take out 2 stars as I still try to cancel my subscription and it is super difficult. I have a core membership and there isn't a button to cancel it; istead, I was prompt to email the team to cancel it for me. I did, and just received an email prompting me to log into my account and cancel it from there... Clearly making it purposefully difficult to cancel a subscription which is annoying the least. Though please note it's not a problem with York Pure Gym, is with Pure Gym in general.
Rich Marshall: Busy not enough leg machines .
Jordan Tzvetkov: Affordable price, app tells you when it's busy so you can avoid peak hours if you like, good variety of equipment.
Thomas McEwan: Kept clean and well maintained. Obviously very busy in peak times but still plenty space and equipment to use.
ThaYorkshireMan: Decent, large gym. Good range of dumbbells plus plenty of space for deadlift and other exercises. There was a very helpful woman there who looked knowledgable and seemed to be holding the fort on her own. Unfortunately didn't catch her name. This was around 4:30-5pm on a Saturday. Just want to say, thanks!
Dec: Okay gym, decent number of weight platforms. There should be a volume limit for the studio, their music is often obnoxiously loud and can be heard over earphones.
Laura Hawkes: Large, clean, good equipment - just whats needed.
B S: Floor space and equipment are brilliant but 2/3 stairmasters are broken for about 4-5 months now. This is one of the largest PureGyms I’ve been to, and also is the one with the least number of working stairmasters. The one working machine rattles. I see staff conducting machine inspections but the machines remain out of service. Can understand there is a lead time but this service very poor.
craig caygill: Good friendly gym, but it takes too long for equipment to be repaired, seated cable row has been broken for 4 months now!
Barry Hutchinson: Fair price. No pressure. Showers are tired now even they were renewed a couple of years ago. Equipment reasonable but some needs to be replaced. Overall very happy to work out here.
Josh Eckhardt: Went with my mrs as she has free passes with her membership 4x a month and she asked me to come with her, I’m a member of 24/7 round the corner and I can honestly say the quality of the treadmills and stair steppers are shocking at pure! Both treadmills I went on soon as I tried to run the belts were either slipping or catching because they kept on jolting so I sacked the treadmill off an went on stepper and soon as I started you could hear it crunching with every rotation. After 20 min I just went on free weights but I can genuinely say I don’t have any of these problems at 24/7, other then that gym was clean an wasn’t to busy.
rachel Russell: Great gym, can always use the machines I need and love that fact it's open 24/hours even open on bank Holidays. Great value for money
Lewis Marsh: Good place open 24 hours friendly place
Michelle Smirthwaite: Loved it. Great gym, great price
Jason Lewis: Lots of equipment, clean, & very polite staff! We came from the states for a few weeks and this place was perfect for our fitness needs! Highly recommend!
William Salvidge: Very good.

Bannatyne Health Club And Spa: what do users think?
Allan Thorpe: My wife and I booked a spa treatment which was very good 👍 but it wasn't relaxing as the noise from the gym could be heard through the thin walls also the food hall was closed due to health and safety the lady on reception said we would have stayed a lot longer and spent more money if we could have eaten so it spoilt a day out after travelling over 1 and a half hours to get there also the manager didn't seem too bothered about the disturbance
Sandra Conlon: Had a great spa day, lovely surroundings, great massage. Very relaxed, pleasent eating and drinking area. Hope to return
H: Been a member for about a month and like this gym. It's got a great atmosphere and lovely staff. Think the only fault is the upkeep. Staff work hard to keep it nice and do a great job but still are some issue that the company as a whole need to sort. The pool is quite cold and the two jacuzzis are often out of commission which is such a same.
Kai Pillay: Great treatments, just wish there was more things to do after as there are only a pool, sauna and steam room.
Cath Etherington: All the staff were so nice and helpful
David Brownhill: Spa is good gym usually not too busy. Changing rooms and poolside very dirty I'd advise wearing sandals if swimming. Staff at reception now more often welcoming upon entry. Changing rooms still dirty
katy thoel: Firstly, massage and Swedish scrub was amazing! My boyfriend and I were able to go in at the same which made the experience lovely. However, be spa facilities are extremely outdated and boring. I don’t really think 2 saunas, 2 steam rooms and a pool equates to a “spa” when you have competitors like aqua sauna at centre parks! Overall wouldn’t come again but staff were lovely!
Cara Moochie: Good facilities but I had a male masseur and was not told in advance or given any choice as to male/ female.
Angela H: The facilities are OK, the shower area could do with a decent clean or refurb. The studios are often dusty/ dirty. But the worst bit about them is their customer service when a mistake has been made. I've been trying to resolve an issue for months and they seem to be ignoring what I'm saying.
Jon Fawcett: Good experience and nice spa facilities.
Harry Buckley: Nice and quite for a Wednesday evening.
Gosia Liebenberg: What a beautiful, spacious and clean place! The customer service blew me away, especially Samantha from the spa who gave me a beautiful massage, tailorer to my needs. She was super polite, informative but not pushy. The man with dark ginger hair and a longish beard at the reception also went out of his way to welcome me and show the facilities, his name starts with 'T' but can't remember the full name. Beautiful day from the minute I parked, till I left after an awesome massage. Thank you!
molly smith: Nice heated chairs in relaxation room in the spaI had two treatments so they arranged for them to be back to back in the same room.2 saunas and 2 steam rooms, one steam room very noisy. Two hot tubs one was being cleaned the morning but in action in the afternoon. Also a cool water jet pool. Food was OK but a bit of a wait as understaffed.
Matthew Greaves: Went for a spa day here and the massage was great, staff are nice too. The centre was very tired though, especially the pool area. It’s also disappointing that robes and towels aren’t included in the price, I would have happily paid more upfront and would have preferred a more transparent pricing approach.
Scott: Went to the gym for a year or so here and staff are friendly. The weights and machine area has been expanded but no additional equipment so you don't need many people for it to get busy. There's absolutely no atmosphere in the gym.The biggest problem is the pool, which is dominated by people who walk in the pool and those that do swim have zero lane discipline. My intention was to regularly use the pool but this lasted about 2 months after it was just impossible to swim at what I could call 'normal' pace without disruption. This place definitely has a spa feel about it and isn't really for those with a real focus on fitness.Regarding the food, don't think this is a Rudding Park dining experience, the chefs double up as till staff.
Jessica Cain: Lovely relaxing day, Spa treatments were lovely x
Simon Brind: Great gym, friendly staff and customers, modern equipment and plenty to keep you busy for hours
Jane: Very friendly staff. Massages were amazing. The Starbucks there wasn't great, smaller sizes and not as good quality as an actual Starbucks
Julia Pattison: Booked a Spa Day and loved it. Great facilities. Thoroughly enjoyed a mushroom risotto too at lunchtime. I'll be back!
Julia Jamieson: Had a lovely relaxing day. We used the spa, swimming, steam room & sauna. Had a back & head massage followed by a facial. Everyone was so friendly, we have decided to join the club
rachel Russell: Great pool facilities, very clean and helpful staff. Myself and my friend went as a wowcher voucher for a massage too. Really worth the money

York Gym - Swift Fitness York: what do users think?
Justin Sasportas: Dumbbells went up to 60kg. Which are nice to look at
Александр Лазько: Hello, how can I get prices. We came from Ukraine, we don’t speak English well, but we really want to study in your gym.
Shane Finch: Cannot recommend Swift Fitness enough , I’ve been doing cardio for the last 20 years but since having my PT sessions with Danny he has completely shifted my mindset on fitness and getting stronger .The Gym and the people are fantastic, I’m now enjoying going even though the Hitmill gets me every time!!If you are after a gym that has the best machines, knowledgable people and is central to York then this is the gym for you!
Aimee Fowkes: Great gym. The staff are really friendly and helpful, and the gym is always clean. It’s also excellently placed just outside the city centre. The Zumba class run by Erika is really fun and she creates a really welcoming environment.
Chereen Rhodes: Best gym I've been to staff are friendly the gym is amazing it facilities every aspect of the body love it
Henry: Nice atmosphere and good equipment
David Duss: Great gym, very good equipment, clean and a very friendly atmosphere! Only a couple of minutes on foot from the city center.
Grace Williams: Absolutely love this gym! It's spotlessly clean, the equipment is great and everyone who works here is so friendly. Really going to miss this gym when I leave York in a few weeks. It's a great place to train and I would highly recommend it to anyone in York. Thank you for creating such a positive, enjoyable training environment.
Thomas Holden: 5⭐️ Gym excellent facility’s and very friendly and helpful staff.would recommend to anyone
Gareth Simpson: Good range of equipment, plenty of machines (never had to wait for a treadmill). Membership is a bit pricey compared to the gym I used to go to (in Hatfield), but you can pay as you go - works out cheaper unless you are going at least twice a week. Staff friendly and helpful.
the family: Absolute disgraceful company. No ownership of complaints. Accidentally signed up on their mobile site and then cancelled within minutes but still taking money from my account. Called Swift York who wanted nothing to do with the situation and diverted me to Harlands. Was told by Gavin Hall that he would ensure it was cancelled and yet more money is being taken from my account. Now neither Harlands or Swift York will take ownership. Over £100 paid and I've not even stepped foot in the gym. Now facing paying membership for the year because no one will help.....BEWARE!!!!!!!
Sam Wetton: Scam artists, I signed up and within a minute cancelled my direct debit, now their finance company Harlands are pestering for payments and claiming that I did not cancel.
Heather Scott: Had a great class! Lovely clean gym and staff are absolutely fantastic!
Freya Baillie: Great atmosphere and staff are so easy to talk to and so friendly and down to earth.
Leroy Reed: Decent size gym with plenty of machines and weights to keep you in shape
Martin Bradley: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,QualityGreat equipment and always adding new equipment, very clean and cared for like a second home which is how it feels because it's ran by a great family that treat you like their own and always there to help if needed unlike commercial gyms where you have to book an appointment, and cheap to be a member too, best gym in york 💪
Ian Johanson: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,QualityI’m a university student playing football in York. A well organized and clean (covid safe) gym that has everything I need to get bigger and stronger. Staff are very friendly and always approachable. Never had a bad experience in all my time at this gym. Highly recommend for anybody looking for a gym to go to
jodie leonard: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,QualityFantastic support. I had no problem asking for help and advice and the staff had no problem helping me out. Would recommend 👌
mike hutton: Positive:Professionalism,QualityGreat gym with everything you could need to bulk up or slim down, great staff very helpful and happy to give you advice if needed.Always made me feel very welcome
Jonny Clarke: Positive:ProfessionalismTop gym, Top staff would highly recommend. Very welcoming feel to the place. Good equipment good advice 10/10
Iman: A really brilliant gym! Great variety of equipment for both powerlifting and bodybuilding purposes. The staff are very welcoming and easy to approach whenever I've wanted to know how to use any equipment or have any general questions! So many thanks to the Swift Fitness gym for boosting my love for training hard :)

York Sport Village: what do users think?
Georgia Craig: gyms busy, with two squat racks, copious amounts of rusty (??!) technogym, and no deadlift platform. trecky to get to, and just not the best. friendly staff, but the gyms just crammed full of equipment but very limited free weights
kathryn Surtees: We are members here and its great
Connor Hawksworth: Great for taking a newborn swimming as it has everything you need and is warm.
David Alderson: A really good setup here. Probably the best pool in the city (barring outdoor at DL), gym is well setup, can get busy but there are quieter times
Eleanor: Large gym and pool, always very clean when I go and there’s access to free classes if you’re a member which is a nice bonus. The café also sells a good range of cold drinks to costa and has a view over the pool which is useful. The temperature is always good for exercising.
George Mackay: vending machine don’t work.not pleased.🤬😡🤬🤬
Dominic Spengler: Nice but a bit pricey and the pool isn’t too clean — ended up with conjunctivitis from it more than once. Otherwise good upstairs gym though. Shame that it’s quite far away from everything so cycling there via the windy open bike path from the other campus isn’t very fun.
Colin Walker: Great swimming pool
Thomas Smith: I love York Sport ❤
Alison Mellor: You'd expect it to feel really busy on a Saturday but there was plenty of space to swim. The changing rooms were clean and warm. It's just a shame that the pool isn't open more for free swimming
Mc Dog: Swimming ... well laid out, lovely girl on reception. Recommended!
iiSunnyrxses: very nice 👌
Rumia_Touhou: 价格很实惠不过泳池有些小没人带泳帽还有就是泳池里的水一股难闻的咸味
Rob Dover: Modern facilities. Easy to find, easy to park. Reasonably priced. Interesting cycling circuit too. And an outdoor velodrome, the like of which I've never seen before.
João Paulo Brito: The structure is perfect.
Derek MUNDY: There for Invictus Training in Archery. I found there were not enough toilets and no canteen. Vending machines only..
Darryl Smith: What a selection of exercise experiences, from 5 a side, to dance and swimming.
Paul Browne: Friendly staff, great location and great facilities. Not much to dislike hence my 5 stars
Ellie Pickard: Brilliant clean facilities.
Lloyd Bodill: Good.
Trevor Oakley: Pouts, barrier-jumpers and people who sit on equipment looking at themselves for 30 minutes whilst 10 other people wait to use it. Too many people, too many in love with themselves.
