Welcome to Little Green Rascals Children’s Organic Day Nurseries. We are a family owned childcare nursery business with seven nursery sites and an out of school club across the YO postcode serving over 1200 families.


Our sites can be found at Tadcaster Road, Elvington Lane, Bishopthorpe, Flaxton, Haxby, 7 Minster Yard and Poppleton.


We have been open in York since 2009 and have a highly qualified and dedicated staff team of around 250. We've had the best time ever getting the Nurseries up and running. Lots of learnings, adventures and sheer inspiration. At the heart of everything we do is the care and nurturing of our Rascals.


When we opened it was as the first organic and eco-friendly nursery group in the North of England and have since been awarded Outstanding status by Ofsted for our childcare offering as well as receiving other prestigious awards for our team and and the support and guidance we give as Employers.

We have so many skilled individuals within our staff team, ranging from childcare professionals, qualified catering teams and hands-on craftsmen to maintain our properties. There are many varied roles across the business which enable us to function and deliver exceptional childcare in safe, secure and home-from-home environments.

We invest heavily in our team as we aim to promote from within. We fully support and encourage both professional and personal development and have many examples of people who have progressed through the company.

Firstly, thank you so much for taking the time to visit our site and find out more about Little Green Rascals. Delivering exceptional childcare with an ethical conscience has been a personal ambition of mine that started over 12 years ago. As with any fledgling business - there have been sleepless nights, immense frustrations, along with lots of hurdles to overcome. However, I knew my vision to offer outstanding childcare, delivered in a loving home environment with a holistic approach was achievable and with the love and support of my family – we have grown from strength to strength.

My family and I are woven into the sheer substance of Little Green Rascals, it has been a journey of growth, optimism and good old-fashioned hard work and most definitely a family affair. We all feel very blessed to have met, worked with and cared for so many amazing families and staff, knowing that Little Green Rascals is providing fantastic memories to so many children and families – especially during those first most formative years – is such an amazing feeling and ensures that I stay involved in the businesses daily and regularly get involved with lots of Rascals play!
