York Theatre Royal: what do users think?
Mikey Marsden: Today, my school performed a play from National Theater Connections called Old Times at this venue. It's a great venue with great facilities (e.g. changing rooms, café/bar etc.), an amazing student theater (where we performed) and a crew of amazing, kind, and helpful staff. Overall, my experience was absolutely incredible here.
Viv Chamberlin-Kidd: This place does some amazing shows.
Emily Barker: Great location, perfect size, you have a good view of the stage wherever you are sat. Clean building with friendly staff. Lovely day out with the family.
Jasmine Dough: Amazing musical, will come back for sure
William Robins: Great venue, lovely staff. Saw Zog with my two year old.
Lisa Machin: Lovely theatre in the centre of York. Roomy + comfortable seating, good view from most seats. Disabled lift available from stalls up to dress circle. Recommend a visit!
Tim Turner: Lovely theatre
John Hannon: The time machine was the play, really funny.
Sarah Lee: The theatre is ideally located, just on the edge of town. It's an old building but it is really well maintained and has kept it's original features. The foyer/reception/cafe/bar/seating area at the front is modern with different types of seating for everyone. The cafe do a selection of different coffees and teas and buns and cakes and crisps..and, of course..potted ice creams..in 3 or 4 different flavours. The prices are reasonable. The bar seems to be well stocked. There's an upstairs seating area but I have never been up. Not sure if they do light meals/bar snacks. The staff are always very helpful. The toilets are always clean and the auditorium is always clean. The seats are laid out well so that you always get a good view of the stage. They put on some really excellent performances, to suit all tastes. Not sure about accessibility but I have seen wheelchairs in the theatre lots of times. Actually, I know that they have good accessibility. There are no steps to get into the theatre, from the street. A real treasure, we are lucky to have.
Tom Gray: Great theatre, great sound quality from the performance, chairs are a touch small though!
peter78: We went to see the Time Traveller which was a comedy take on the popular book of the same name.Brilliant theatre experience, refreshments available at various bars and pop up stands, programmes available. The stairs are quite steep and the leg room for the seating is restricted, understandable as this is an old building not lending itself to much modernisation. It is a lovely old ‘feel’ theatre though and the play was hilarious! Totally recommend a visit based on this experience, make sure you sort parking out in advance!
nigel copely: Great to be back. Love a live show!!!!
Alex ander: Lovely place
Gwilko: Always love the pantomime here. Great view, funny production which amused young and old
Keith Allison: The show Sweeny Todd was excellent. The seating was a bit cramped. The whole experience was great
Rick Romaniak: Brilliant
Barry Knight: Beautiful theatre with comfortable seats with good leg room (for a change) most theatres these days have uncomfortable seating with no leg room which can spoil the experience of going to the theatre- will definitely return
Leighton Regayre: Highly recommend the theatre tour of you want to have a close inspection of this amazing theatre. We were all captivated for a couple of hours by a knowledgeable and entertaining guide. World class
Ann Searle: A tour back stage. Steeped in history brilliant tour guide John, so full of knowledge
David Found: Fabulous theatre and Sweeney Todd was great

Joseph Rowntree Theatre: what do users think?
Tracy Peckover: Great venue
josie Pennock: Went to see carpenters masquerade last night 8 may they were very good the main lady singer had a lovely voice but they were all good enjoyed it .
Lucy Moseley: Saw the 9-5 show this past week and all staff were lovely and provided a great experience. Thankyou
Ann Roberts: An Art Deco style theatre, the bar is in a caravan outside & is quite expensive, but I expect this is to help pay for the upkeep. Disappointed that we had to wait outside in the rain for 20 minutes as not allowed into theatre until 7pm - health & safety reasons. It seems staffed by mainly volunteers who do a good job. A good sized stage & comfy seats.
Anne Fieldhouse: Love this theatre so intimate.
Julia King: I've been to the location a number of times as both a performer and audience member. A lovely little theatre run entirely by volunteers. The seats could do with an upgrade, but it's pleasant, fairly comfortable and I always feel looked after!
Samantha Reynolds: Very good therater for shows and plays
Frances Postlethwaite: Great deco local theatre, raising funds for renovations.
Simon Moore: Great community theatre, always a warm welcome, comfy seating and decent bar prices. All good.
Alison Cheung: Supported a guy to the theatre, the staff there was very helpful and very patient. Easy to get in and out, great experience
Sue Brown: Good little local theatre! Saw the Military Wives Choir last week n other Choirs in a Choir Festival! So it has all sorts!
Liz: Lovely place. I have sang here a couple of times in a choir. Money made here is ploughed back into the building for much needed renovations
Sharon Robey: Love this theatre.
Mark Harrison: First visit to this great little theatre run by volunteers, it had comfy seats with great leg room and view from the stalls.
Peter Wrightson: Great theatre plenty of seats, show ok but seen better here.
Robert Lambert: Fabulous show thank to all the volunteers
Steven Pearson: Never been but live near it
Mike Blackett: Nice 90 year old theatre run by volunteers. Who try very hard.A bit tired and in need of a little TLC.Used to be part of a large chocolate manufacturing factory as an amenity for the staff prior to being bought out.Come on Nestlé finger out and help a bit!
Margaret: I really enjoyed the performance.
Tom Massey: Lovely little theatre.
Franek Peplinski: Great local theatre where the audience get close to the action. Saw a medley of songs from musicals etc. , dance from local youth groups in an entertaining evening. The art deco style gives you a feeling of going back to the golden age of local theatre.

Grand Opera House: what do users think?
Helen Booth: Really enjoyed the show
Barbara Judge: Visited the beautiful Grand Opera House on Friday to see ‘Strictly The Musical’ with Kevin & Faye, what a spectacular show, with a fantastic cast, dancing and music. Well done everyone! All best wishes for the rest of the tour! The only down side was the chaotic toilet situation during the interval (otherwise would have been 5*)
Jackie Hinch: Went to see Kevin Clifton and we thought Maisie Smith. 1 out of 2 isnt bad. Kevin was brilliant most enjoyable afternoon
AL CZ: Nous avons eu la chance de participer à une visite guidée, qui nous a coûté 10£, je recommande vraiment !La guide était passionnée et très à l'écoute, nous avons eu droit à de nombreuses anecdotes. Visite très intéressante !
Suzanna Sheil: Had a great night, we went to see THE STORY OF THE DUBLINEERS. What a great bunch of fellas would definitely recommend. I'm already thinking of going again I loved it .
mary machin: Went to see Johannes Radebe last night, fantastic show, 2nd year running at G.O.P. 3 levels, Stalls,Dress circle and Upper Circle.Only downfall is NO LIFT. Toilets on every level (a bonus).well worth a visit for shows and Pantomime at Christmas.
Florence Sunshine: What an amazing Theatre , the staff were all so polite and helpful . Worth a visit
Stuart Moss: Sat in stalls and really enjoyed the show. However after 2 hours the seating was very uncomfortable. Many people asking for ice cream at the interval to be told, we were busy last week and we've run out.Disappointing!
Julie Gibson: Sensational!! Just taken our Granddaughter to see Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. The cast were absolutely first class, the voice of the Truly Character is spectacular! Our Granddaughter loved it as did we. Standing ovation and so well deserved. A must see production.
Adele Van-Minnen: Fabulous show in a beautiful Theatre.
Wendy Davis: Just been to see Chitty Chitty Bang Bang with my friend. What a fantastic production. The children were so good and what an amazing voice Truly has. The child catcher even scared me 😂. The set was brilliant and well, what can I say about the car....Wow.We loved everything . Well done and thank you to the entire cast
Mark Smith: Saw Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and it was fantastic
Vicki Kaye: Watched Chitty bang bang in box F last night, it was amazing, view much better than expected.
stuart price: Saw chitty chatty bang bang. Great show. Staff all very helpful.
Simon Moore: Always good shows and a welcoming atmosphere. Seats are a bit hard though, and bar prices are high.
Becca Cooper: The staff were very very very very very very helpful and friendly to me and my friend but if your disabled 😭 why isn't cash allowed as well as cards 😔?
Anna Ingle: Great views from even the cheaper seats! Good atmosphere and our show (Chitty Chitty Bang Bang) was unbelievable - excellent acting, choreography, scenery and props!
Kim: I just wanted say how much I enjoy the Buddy Holly musicial show which I saw on Sat 25th March.. it was amazing show. The people worked sooo very hard. The music was amazing and the Theatre is a lovely Theatre and the Park ride was fantastic as it dropped us right outside the Theatre going and coming back
Deborah Mears: Just been to watch The Buddy Holly show, absolutely fantastic, all the staff were very friendly.
Chris Sheridan: Extremely helpful in finding me tickets suitable for wheelchair access for Buddy Holly mattinee. Brilliant show! My sister in law had the best afternoon ever. Thank you for being so friendly & helpful , it makes all the difference!
Tracy Thornton: I took my partner & parents to see The Magic of The Beatles. The band was fab, however the night was spoilt by the fact we weren't allowed to dance. I understand there maybe people who don't want to dance & just watch the gig, however that is possible to have dancers & people who just sit & listen, if the people who want to sit & listen sit in the front row or avoid sitting in the stalls. My Mum is 77 yrs & she was disappointed she couldn't relive the swinging 60's with abit of dancing

City Screen Picturehouse: what do users think?
Christian McCain (Christian McCain): A lovely place to grab a bite and catch a movie. They had great cider on tap and their chips were some of the best we've had in all of england!
Jeff Macklin: It's a cinema comfy
Dom Cortez: Visited just for drinks and food. Beautiful spot outside overlooking the river and catches the sun all day. The food was amazing, ordered a Caesar salad and I have to say it was one of the best I've ever ordered, very fresh ingredients and had no criticism. A very good selection of drinks including reals ales and craft beers. To top our experience off altogether was they had a dog menu for all your pooches. I believe it was three options of meals for your dogs priced at £3 each, very good portions and they looked incredible, could have eaten it myself. If you visit with dogs just be mindful they only allow dogs in the outside area. Will definitely visit again.
Ben Tait: Poor customer service
Alastair McDougall: Coffee cold nice view in cafe only.
Rick Dobbing (Dressed Like Wolves): Love the selection of films at this place. Always something showing that's not at other cinemas. I've seen some amazing films that I wouldn't have heard of otherwise.
Tanya Fisher: Tired decor but otherwise good
Nicholas Martin: Great location .. Interesting building .. Great staff .. Good coffee .. clean and comfortable auditorium

Martin Doyle: Great chilled place for a cuppa in the city centre

Curve VR: Great food, great movie, great service. The view was amazing and everyone was so nice.
Pam Plevey: great cinema but toilets too far away from the screen
John Farbrother: Great meal and film
Baz Buchanan: Was violently sick overnight after eating here. Is probably a one off, as never had issues before. We did order our food late on.So avoid the duck!!!
Judith Elliott: Great cinema in a wonderful location overlooking the river in city centre York. The cinema is comfortable and lovely and warm on a cold winters day !
Jason Chinnian “Jay Cee” There Was A Time Productions: Just popped in for a coffee. Well priced and served in a relaxing cafe bar setting overlooking the River Ouse. Ideal place to relax after a hard day's work. Highly recommended 👌🏾 👍🏾
