The Grand, York: what do users think?

Elliott Moss: on site parking for a price but cheaper parking is available only a walk away. If you get the chance to stay here i highly recommend, you wont regret it.Rooms: Rooms are very clean and spacious with all amenities needed.Nearby activities: Plenty of site seeing and little shops for presents.Food & drinks: Amazing restaurant situated inside the hotel, good range of top quality dishes.

Colin Crawford: Location: 5/5

Legal Help: Afternoon tea in the Grand worth the price. All expectations are met! We’ve had obscene large selection of unlimited hot drinks. Desserts are fabulous and in this case very good that they are limited.Good view, warm and kind greetings. It was so kind from Galyna to make a photo shoot for us.

Cheezee McCheez: My only issue is the beds are rock hard. Otherwise, an excellent hotel.Rooms: The rooms are lovely. The beds are too hard.Nearby activities: City walls walk.National Train Museum.River trips.Shopping.Bars.Food.Other historic museums and land marks.Walkability: A short walk from the station and the city walls, plus loads of other good stuft.

Dean Court York: what do users think?

Joda: My husband and I loved our 3 night stay here. The room was very clean and spacious and had a fab view of the cathedral. All staff were very friendly and helpful at all times. The food was just amazing. Breakfast had a great selection of food to help yourself and can also order hot food such as a full English or bacon and egg sandwich plus lots more to choose from.Light bits menu up till 5pm then can choose off the bigger menu.Great relaxing atmosphere with lovely comfy seats after eating which was a nice place to chill. This hotel is in a fantastic location as we walked literally out the door to the cathedral and then to the amazing shops and museums. So much so see and do and after a day of walking 18,000steps we looked forward to chilling with a cold shandy before having something to eat.Even though it was right in the centre it was quiet when in your room and didn’t hear anything outside.

Alan Brier: Frank, the porter is the only person you as a guide to York the rest of the staff are very welcomingNearby activities: Next door too the minster and a land train to the train museum

Abbie Kissane: Amazing location for a stay in York. Staff are a credit to the hotel and very helpful. Rooms are spotless. We were on the top floor so the room was initially quite hot but it had a Dyson fan which was perfect. Very comfortable bed. Can’t fault the place. Valet parking available, we checked in early and picked the car up late the next day. £25 per day. Breakfast was tasty and made fresh

alex bannister: Realy nice hotel, fantastic location! Breakfast was included in the price and was great choice available loved the eggs benedict staff were very attentive and polite. The hotel offers valet parking 25.00 per night this was quite cheap in comparrison to some of the secure car parks in york city.Walkability: Fabulous location

Hotel du Vin York: what do users think?

Ade Ball: criticism was the shortage of sockets in sensible places, but that is easy to rectify. We can't comment on the food as we didn't eat there but the reception and bar staff were all great.Loved the idea of the optional voucher in exchange for omitting room servicing. Many hotels pay lip service to this concept

Jo Normanshire: Lovely location, quiet but close to centre. We had a Glorious Getaway deal which was great value. Gorgeous room and excellent food. We would definitely recommend and return! Only issues in room were leaking sink and lacklustre shower. Breakfast was a little disappointing as some items ran out and were not replenished. We mentioned these issues at checkout but no real response. Dus not spoil the visit though, we loved it and will come back soon!

Kate Hanson: ✔️~ 10 min walk from train station✔️Giant bathtub ✔️Giant couch ✔️Giant shower ✔️Suitable for those with low mobility/wheelchair uses

David Nesbitt: Fantastic hotel to stay at while travelling on business. The room was spacious and exceptionally clean, all the staff I encountered were lovely and professional, especially the rather classy and elegant manager / supervisor lady. The food was extremely high quality in a really lovely eating area / atmosphere. The best option for York business travel.

Judges Court Hotel: what do users think?

Jac L: What a lovely surprise to walk down a secret alley off Coney Street and find this magical boutique hotel in the centre of York. After a long day of travelling and sightseeing we were greeted by very friendly staff and the offer of a complimentary glass of delicious wine. The bed was super comfortable and a glorious large bathroom with huge walk in shower. We would highly recommend Judges Court Hotel to anyone wanting a quiet hotel in a central location, with lovely staff running it.

Chris Dickson: were very welcome. I've never stayed in a place with so many supernatural things going on! The staff were amazing you cannot fault them one bit. The glass of wine on arrival was a lovely touch! Great place, great location five star 🌟 from us. Chris and Sharon Dickson stayed on 11th December 2023

aidan hazelwood: Amazing little hotel in a hidden location I'm a very convenient place. It took me a while to find it but once I found it, I was pleasantly surprised by the quiet and well kept courtyard. The women checking me in was very friendly and helpful and explained everything. A short walk up a small staircase and I was in my room.Beautifully decorated with all the necessities, big fan of the small sofa at the end of the bed. The bed itself was incredibly comfortable, one of the best nights sleep I've had in a long time.Shower was premium with a waterfall shower head and the complimentary toiletries felt very fancy.Thoroughly enjoyed my stay and will be staying here again when visiting York.

Sarah lynne Knowles: Lovely hotel! Lovely staff, great location, spooky just what we wanted!👻👻 We will come back one day for sure! Thank you for an enjoyable stay🤗

Luke Cash: Lovely building with lost of history. Friendly staff and really nicely tucked away on the main strip. Would definitely stay again. Women who greeted us in the evening was lovely and very helpful.Walkability: Ok the main strip

lee harkus: Lovely hotel, ideally located in the city centre. The themed rooms are lovely and well kept. Set back from the main street, noise wasn't an issue. On an evening, we had an access code to get into the private courtyard of the hotel, which was very reassuring.Food & drinks: The hotel doesn't have the facilities to offer breakfast or meals but it really wasn't a problem with lots of nearby places to choose from.

Robert Stone: A hidden gem in York. No restaurant, but plenty of good eateries within a short walking distance. A super-friendly reception team and a welcome glass of wine. The rooms are clean, spacious and fun! Ample teas, coffees, even Yorkie Bars in the room. Didn't expect to find handcuffs in the cupboard, though 🤣 !! Will definitely return!

Middletons Hotel: what do users think?

Charlotte Gatehouse: , and we had 2 sinks in the bathroom. there was an adorable dressing nook in our room, with a dressing table, a wardrobe, and coffee machine/ mini fridge. robes and slippers were provided, and nothing beats lying in your hotel room in a robe. the bed was incredibly comfy, and so big! the pillows were fluffy and plump and the diver was warm. the room had lots of quirky practical details, like the retro style radio and hair straightening stand. the location was fabulous, literally like a 3 minute walk for the city centre. we didn’t have to drive anywhere the whole week. would definitely recommend staying here

Oleta: The location is good, it is close enough to the train station, restaurants etc.Rooms: I felt the need to talk a little bit about my room, as I didn't think it reflected the "luxury" experience I was expecting. It definitely needs a fresh coat of paint on the walls, as I spotted many marks and smudges in addition to a large crack behind the TV that went from floor to ceiling. There was also a cobweb on my ceiling. In the bathroom there were rusted nails and more evidence of a room that needs a refresh. It might be important to note that my room was not in the main hotel building, and I daresay that the quality of the rooms may not be the same judging by some of the other comments.Noteworthy details: The staff were all very nice and welcoming & I felt that the service was excellent.

23 St Marys Guest House: what do users think?

Fernando Lerner: Our stay in 23St Marys was perfect and lovely. It meet all our expectations and more. Lovely staff, our room was super clean, super quiet place and the breakfast is a must! And the location is just perfect, less than 500mts and you are in the city center and near all kind of historic places and nice restaurants.I definitely recommend 😊Ps. The Christmas decorations are a beauty.

Mauro Protopapa: The room was okay, had kettle for tea and coffee, the roller blinds we had a bit of a problem with the pulley system didn't work properly and one was broken and came off the spindle only gave service a 3star as we were out most of the day and evening and staff were only there until 4 or 5 o clock, location was great as we were only few minutes from town centre

Beki Meson: Location next to Museum Gardens is super convenient and we heard no street or hallway noise whatsoever. Family room was homely, full of unique and up cycled furniture, very clean, king size bed was huge with a thick, comfy mattress, bathroom was incredible with bath AND power shower, and each bed had it's own TV! Dressing table was handy and plenty of wardrobe room / drawers. Tea / coffee / biscuits in the room with more freely available. Breakfast was a stunning affair with buffet cereals, fruits and juices PLUS a cooked breakfast of your choice.Hosts couldn't do enough for you. There's also a beautiful common room and a selection of treats with an honesty box if you get peckish. I honestly can't say enough about this place!

Damian Horton: it looked fantastic. Had to park in car park next-door but this was no hassle, and the offer to reimburse the cost was an additional lovely touch. Thanks for a great stay.

Tim Co: You feel the love that goes into this place in every room, in every tiny detail. Very friendly and helpful staff, excellent rooms and delicious breakfast. The location is absolute ideal: Quiet, but only steps away from historical highlights of downtown York.We WILL come back!Rooms: Lovely, newly refurbished rooms, brand new bathrooms.Walkability: Just around the corner from York‘s famous highlights, the munster, the medieval city walls ect. Parking close by.

Paul Wilson: What a brilliant hotel. The staff and food are wonderful. Beautifully rooms and very close to York city centre. We have visited here many times and would not dream of staying anywhere else.Rooms: Beautiful rooms, full of character.Food & drinks: They only serve breakfast but the quality of food and service is exceptional.

Grays Court Hotel and The Bow Room Restaurant: what do users think?

Mike Lonsdale: Lovely staff and beautiful hotel. Only improvements I can suggest from the room I stayed in, which was the Willoughby room is when cleaning the rooms staff need to get into the smaller spaces. For example there was a decent pile of dust in each of the indentations made by the buttons on the sofa. Also the screw holding the handle to the wardrobe had no nut so I could just remove the screw and take the handle off. Everything else about the hotel was perfect. The addition of the building's history in the room booklet was a great read.

Margaret Cowan: I am very disappointed to see the article in the Press about the hotel! We have stayed here a few times and always top class service and atmosphere. We will again be getting booked in there later in the yearNearby activities: Right in the middle of York, many experiences close by

PAOLA Costantini: Food & drinks: Dinner at Grays Court, elegant and particular. Menu with surprising flavors. Bread number one, quail eggs number two. Incredible dessert. You can't tell but you have to try.

David Porter: Excellent food, very clean. Best breakfast of any establishment I’ve stayed in. Lovely room, owners very helpful and nothing is two much bother. Couldn’t fault anything. Would highly recommendRooms: Very clean, extremely comfortable bed, lovely en suite with power showerFood & drinks: The breakfast is excellent very well presented.

William Varey: Hotel highlights Luxury, Romantic, Great value

Simon Clark: A great location close to St John University and a short walk to the Minster. Comfortable room and lovely bathroom. Tasty breakfast. An enjoyable stay.Nearby activities: Close to the Minster, Stonegate and other popular tourist locations

Ian Bithell: Lovely place to stay at, we were on the top floor which usually means low water pressure and cold water in the shower but NOT in this B&b. The shower was very hot and the wifi never cut out. Breakfast was nice and its was about 10-15 minutes slow walk to Yorks wall.Rooms: Great room, clean and had everything in it that you need I.e a A/c a fridge a kettle a blanket e.t.c

Russell Young: OMG!! I Love this Hotel. The room we stayed in was Amazing, the Japanese themed room. The bed was sooo comfortable. The sunk in to the floor bath and rainforest shower were just what was needed after a long day exploring. The Hotel hosts are so friendly and polite and make what has to be one of the best breakfasts I've ever had! The Tower Breakfast burger was incredible. The way they set up the Hotel on an app which allows you to order your breakfast the night before, to controlling the air con. Will definitely be staying here again.

Lyn Harding: What a lovely establishment. Our room was beautiful. Breakfast was amazing. So good we are going back next year!Rooms: Beautiful rooms. Nicely set up. A small fridge neatly tucked away.Walkability: It was not too far to walk into the town.

Amanda French: My partner and I visited for 4 nights from 18th September 2023.We have been looking to staying here before but never managed to book. However on this occasion we booked our chosen room and was very pleasantly surprised when we arrived. The whole premises was immaculate, our bedroom was stunning and on our first morning breakfast was beautifully presented and tasted wonderful. The eye for detail and cleanliness are obvious as soon as you enter the building.Although very ornate and period settings the checking in process, ordering breakfast , heating and checking out is all done via a very modern app on your phone so be prepared if you a technophobe , we do believe if you can't get the app you can do things the old fashioned way 😀.All in all an excellent stay and we will be back to try a different room , thank you so much it was amazing.

Andy Taylor: A great find, superb location and a lovely place to stay. Breakfast is superb, the online app that you can use to check in, order exactly what you want for breakfast, even how crispy etc, as well as changing the room temps, really awesome fair play. Great location to walk into the centre which is around a nice 15-20 minute walk. The room we stayed was gorgeous and well laid out with beautiful furnishings. Highly recommend and we will be back.

Sarah M: using the map leaflet. She also recommended places to eat.Our room was stunning and so cosy. Everything was immaculate and clean. The hosts kindly popped in complimentary drinks, chocolate and fresh milk in the mini fridge. The usual tea/coffee was there but they put in lovely extras such as a sewing kit and first aid kit

Mike Duggan: Short walk from the city centre 10-15 minutes, easy to find. Interestingly presented room themed like a king's suite. Clean. Good service. Nice breakfast.Would stay again if I'm in York again without the kids.

Diane Shirvinton: This is the 3rd time we have stayed here and we have recommended it to others. It's handy to locate and a short walk into town near some excellent restraunts. The rooms are beautiful and the breakfasts excellent.I like the new checking in system, breakfast ordering and room key boxes. When we return to York we will definitely stay here again.

Ashbourne House: what do users think?

Clifford Terris: If Carlsberg did guest houses this would be itWonderful hostsWonderful roomsDouble wonderful breakfastAll within a pleasant 20 minute riverside stroll from the centre of York or a £5 Uber taxiDont waste your time with an impersonal city centre hotel with exorbitant car parking fees stay here get the personal touch and park your car nearby for free. First class definately stay again

Fiona Guest: The location was only a short bus ride into York center

Christianne Forrest: We had a lovely stay here. The room was comfortable, spotlessly clean and nicely decorated, there was plenty hot water and the bed was comfortable. The breakfast was one of the nicest cooked breakfasts I have had at hotels, as it was all freshly cooked to order, no grease on the plate, all perfectly cooked. Also a great choice of gluten free options. Fiona was incredibly friendly and helpful. The location was ideal, about a mile outside York on a very frequent bus route, saving you on parking fees which are steep in York. Heartily recommended.

E N: Very friendly hosts and a delicious breakfast with good and above average choice of food. The room felt clean and thoughtfully decorated with a nice selection of treats by the tea/coffee. The bed was very comfortable with decent quality bed linen and pillows. A quiet and comfortable night's sleep. Good, pressured, hot shower. Only slight downside was not enough room to park, as their car park was full when I arrived in the evening, though there are plenty of roads a few mins walk away where you can park for free. Will stay again.

Gary Lyon: Ricardo and Fiona are two of the nicest people you can meet. When I arived, Ricardo met me outside to assist with my bags, walked me to my room, explained how everything works and retired for the evening.I stayed in room #7 which was perfect for a single traveler. The bed was extremely comfortable and I slept like a baby both nights I was here.Breakfast was Perfect! Great selection and the best traditional British Breakfast ive ever had. Delish!Location is perfect! Just far enough away from the hustle and noise of a very busy night life but close enough to walk to the City Center. When I return to York, I will definately be staying at the Ashbourne House!Rooms: Very Comfortable beds and recently renovated.Walkability: About a Mile from the City Center

Kev Baker: We stayed at the beginning of March '24.Everything was perfect. Fiona let us check in at lunchtime. She couldn't have been any more friendly or helpful. The room was clean and tidy and well equipped. The breakfast and dining area were fantastic. I honestly couldn't recommend it any more. Spot on. Just book it.

Chris Barrett: I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Ashbourne House during my business trip to York. The price was reasonable, and the breakfast was delicious. Fiona, was incredibly pleasant and welcoming. The location was convenient and the frequent buses into York town made exploring easy. The cleanliness of the establishment was also impressive. Overall, a fantastic experience that I would highly recommend to others.

Bryan Hatt: Wonderful stay at Ashbourne. We were looked after very well in clean and comfortable accommodation. The breakfasts were great and so were the chats!Noteworthy details: Sweets on the stairs very much appreciated! 😁
