Red Chilli Supermarket: what do users think?
Ed Kovac: Good selection of exotic fruits.
Ben Taylor: It's probably one of the most comprehensive Chinese supermarkets I've been to to date. Honnelsty, if ya can't find what ya after, it's not Asian!!Well worth bobbing in, if not, just for a nosey at all the ingredients..
Bethany Leadley: Great variety of produce. From frozen goods to fresh fruits and vegetables. You’ll find everything you need. If your a fan of noodles, they have a whole aisle full with every flavour imaginable. A great shop to go if you want to try new foods/drinks.
Sarah Wan: Love this place! Has a big variety of different cuisines. Literally noodles for miles. Mochi is VERY overpriced however! Half the price in local supermarket. The freshly baked goods near the till are fab and cheap too. Eg. Hot dogs and cheese encased in a brioche are 2 for £2.80. TIP: Try the green pandan cream cake!!!
Sam White: Hee
Goncalo Cunha (Gebock): All Asian products that you need an be found here
Sandy Pranantyo: Good
Ashley Roberts: Absolute gem
Emily Rose: Incredible variety of Asian groceries, as well as cooking utensils
Stuart Cumming: Brilliant choices
Ronali Marasinghe: A big choice of Asian grocery, fresh veges and fruits.

Wendy Sennett: Fantastic range of Asian cuisine and ingredients available.

Helen Smith: Love this place and shop there regularly. Everything you would expect from a large well stocked supermarket like this, including great beansprouts. One thing missing - no Niskiki Rice!
Ewa Adamska: Nicely stocked Asian shop.
Stephen Harper: Love the Red Chilli huge choice of Asian food products !Noodle heaven !Staff helpful and always willing to offer advice
Ben Hayes: Great range of Asian products . Chinese, Korean, Japan , friendly helpful staff !
Allister Morgan: Amazing choice of Chinese/Asian foods, drinks etc. Just about anything you could possibly think of. Helpful staff especially for the novice cooks amongst us.

Eryl Bray: The sushi was good but not as good as a year ago when we last visited. We waited a long time for the dessert and when it came it wasn’t what we ordered, Black sesame seed ice cream instead of Lychee ice cream, it was obvious it was sesame as it had seeds in it and a different colour. Although we informed them of the mistake they insisted it was lychee. This was disappointing as my grandson was looking forward to the lychee and couldn’t eat the sesame. He wasn’t offered anything else. It is also potentially very risky for someone with an allergy to sesame.
nicholas chia: ordered ramen.waiting time was about half an hour.noodles were so soft it broke when i tried to pick it up with my spoon. soup was tasteless. felt like a bowl of instant noodles with meat and vegetables added to it. its as though the noodles were left on the stove for long which might explain the waiting time.i know it is difficult finding asian food which taste exactly like the original here. but this extremely off.disappointing food.the only saving grace was that the servers were attentive and helpful.
정에어: 우리는 요리사추천 모듬스시와 소고기우동을 먹었다 모듬스시 일인분의 양이 많다 가격은 비싸다 느껴진다
Leah Webster: Good sushi, staffs are friendly. I’ll definitely be backkkkk
Ana Carolina Dias: Mu husband and I went for dinner without a reservation and were seated at the sushi bar with no wait. We ordered a plate each and an order of sushi. The fish was good quality, but the dishes were not impressive. I liked that the plates came with miso soup. The problem was we waited around AN HOUR for our food to get to us. The waitstaff was good, but I guess they were short-handed that night.

Antz Eddleston: Portions are quite large, so go in with a empty stomach, prices are quite high but with portions as large as they are, it balances out quite well. The fried food was tasty but not oily, which is best, the curry was a tad spicier than you'd expect from a Japanese curry and it had a bit too much rice versus how much curry sauce there was, overall it was a good curry though. The service is fast, the staff are super friendly and very very helpful, allergies were checked at ordering and there is signage all over, the food comes out quickly and at what pace you receive dishes is upto you, such as, sushi as a starter and others as main etcWould recommend to someone that has had very little Japanese food or wants to try new things, a few dish inconsistencies in terms of what it is on the menu versus what it's supposed to be but that's to nitpicking

Jeff Shurak: Great food....only if you eat in. Pass on delivery. Multiple times the ramen has been delivered with the noodles and broth together. Sadly, this results in much of the broth being absorbed by the noodles. The end result is a bowl of soggy sad noodles. Its a shame because fresh, its quite tasty.
Kate: Love Wagamamas overall and the food is great. The staff were as always friendly and attentive. Unfortunately what let it down this time was the cleanliness. Everything felt a bit grubby and unclean. There was food, chopsticks and dirt under our table. The glasses looked like they could do with a good clean and the toilets were quite unpleasant with no toilet paper. It all looked a bit tired, as if no one really cared. It hasn’t put me off from going again, maybe they were short staffed, but the whole restaurant looked like it needed a bit of love.

Oriental Express: what do users think?
Richard Scott: Massive range of stock (mainly cupboard and frozen foods), reasonable prices and long opening hours.
Scott Rischer: Brilliant little shop, lovely owners and a fantastic selection
Jay Kistasamy: Prices not great. Staff uninterested and bored. £5 minimum contact less charge limit.
Alfie Robinson: Go here for spices, noodles, soy sauces etc. There are things you can buy in bulk here that are either unavailable or shamefully overpriced in tiny glass bottles in supermarkets. Not as convinced about the quality or freshness of perishables though.
Louise Brown: I walked in when just opening in a haze of buying tofu. The lady helped me find items and made recommendations for alternatives when i told her what i was making. She even told me how to make dumplings. I would definitely recommend. Super friendly and great selection!
Erwin Falkenreck: Enormous collection, owner and wife are hard working people, please try and enjoy oriental products
Frances Aggarwal: Lovely shop with a great range of Chinese and oriental groceries . Helpful staff, willing to advise.
Annie-Eloise Lambert: This local Asian Supermarket carrie's a very wide range of products that any cook of Asian Cuisine could possibly want to tantalise those tastebuds.
Hayden: Nice owners. Good supermarket for Chinese food
Nopaka: It looks small, but it is quite packed with all range of Asian food, ingredient and even some appliances such as rice cooker. Chinese food and ingredients are obviously the most diverse, followed by Japanese and Korean, and finally some Indian and Vietnamese ingredients. If you want to stock up on instant noodles, this place is probably one of the cheapest. Frozen food also have excellent range, and some that you can't get from the supermarket. Very close to University of York (therefore the bus there is free).
Ridwan: if youre SEA's citizen, you know you'll love the store
Simon Ho: Lovely owner and awesome to have a local place to get hold of ethnic far East food (growing up you only found these kinds of places in the larger cities like Leeds/Manchester).
Andy L: A good selection of stock.
Reening Lau: I sometimes drop by Oriental Express when I am in need of Chinese food supplies and to stock up on my Japanese Ramen and they always deliver. Food prices are reasonable and the owner is a quiet but helpful fellow. I've dealt with lots of store owners that talk too much when I'm doing grocery shopping so this is a nice change.
Mark Mainprize: All your Asian foods and spices
Sarinrat Thomas: Love this place. Not big but got what we want. The owners are very nice. Good to have an Asian shop we like.
Shee Jugs: They have a lot of the ingredients I miss
Martin Archer: Great sense of humour and some cheeky advice on Chinese cooking.
Jitender Kumar: good place for Chinese and Japanese food store and owner are nice people
A K: Appallingly rude, sour-faced and unhelpful.
Yan Li: My favor chinese shop

Ma W: Considering all wagamama food should be the same where you go. The food here was just not all that, tierd salad and the rest not that hot. Maybe my mistake was asking for tofu in my noodles, the waitress was ok with that on ordering, but it turned up in a bowl on its own. Cold. Luckily tofu doesn't need to be cooked. When asked to make it part of the meal and warm they did it. But it still wasn't that warm. Wagamama used to employ chefs, I think now they just employ assembly staff and it shows.

Antz Eddleston: Oke of my favourite places to visit in York, atmosphere is calming and relaxing, staff are very very friendly and easy to talk to, the food and drinks are extremely tasty. The menu is quite small with extra specials inside but that's good thing, smaller menu means better overall food, a great selection of vegan options, extensive drinks menu, everything from Japanese tea and soft drinks, to Japanese alcohol.Prices are reasonable for the portion size, which is deceptively filling. If you want somewhere that is smaller, has an amazing atmosphere and is very relaxing, it's the best place to go.

Tom & Becky: We used Fran to supply an assortment of Japanese food for an event - it was amazing! Great food, great communication, amazing detail into the dietaries making the food accessible to everyone.Dietary restrictions: Gluten free
Victoria Quint: What a gem! I've been in with friends and family, and everyone raves about the food! The lunch teriyaki set is really delicious, and the atmosphere is lovely both inside and out in the courtyard. Great food and great service, I look forward to going back.
Perdita Blinkhorn: Vegan reviewer:An absolute hidden gem in York. I can’t wait to come visit again and try something else. I’ve given these guys 4/5 because I didn’t love some of their side plates but this could easily go to a 5/5 on my next visit. The overall quality of food is EXCELLENT.Great vegan opinions throughout the menu. Specials and desserts are only on the boards in store so it’s worth going in, there’s a cute shop that sells food, sweets and utensils at the front, and there’s interesting decor. Recommend booking due to small restaurant size. Friendly staff. We ordered:1) vegetable gyoza teishoku set2) teriyaki Tofu teishoku setThe teishoku sets come with a big bowl of miso soup, steamed rice, cabbage (think steamed?), and pickled carrot & bean shootsI absolutely LOVED the teriyaki tofu- delicious The veg gyozas were also really nice and perfectly crisp. I loved the miso soup and the steamed rice. The rest was neither here nor there really- the pickle wasn’t very pickle-y and the cabbage was just very bland limp cabbage (but neither were unpleasant and I still ate it all). For sides we ordered:3)veg gyozas4) garlic-miso-mushroom yaki onigiri5) soy yaki onigiriWe ordered extra gyozas to share but these were exactly the same as the ones on the teishoku (and just as nice). The soy onigiri was quite dry and a bit overdone. The flavour was ok but I don’t think I’d order again. We preferred the GMM onigiri which was nice, but also wouldn’t rush to reorder.Overall, really enjoyed it and was full. However I did still have room for dessert! They come and sit the dessert board on a chair next to you, which is a bit odd especially given how small the restaurant is.It was a couple of weeks ago now so I can’t remember the exact order, but we had some kind of vegan chocolate brownie that was AMAZING!! I’m not even the biggest brownie fan but they really nailed that one and my mouth is watering over it right now!Shout out the the lemon yuzu drink I’d never seen before- I love yuzu and this was just the perfect drink to have with the meal!100% will go again. As I said, this is so close to being a 5/5 but that for me means nothing could be better and there were a couple of things that could have. But generally EXCELLENT and a do encourage everyone to have a visit!!
suvodeep mazumdar: Great little cafe with some amazing tea options. The chicken gyoza was fantastic!
Kristin Maresca: This is a review of our experience today - not the food. The food is lovely and authentic. My kids and I have enjoyed coming to Ippuku in the past.On Monday went online to make a booking for lunchtime today (Wednesday) and saw that they were no longer taking bookings. I was slightly concerned considering the size of the space but decided that if we showed up close to opening time (noon), we wouldn’t have an issue getting a seat. So we planned a trip into York, excited to have Ippuku for lunch. As soon as I walked in, the gentleman working asked me if we had a booking. I replied no, that the website said they were no longer taking bookings. He confirmed that this was correct, however they do take phone bookings for two time slots. I was shocked and inquired as to why this isn’t mentioned anywhere on the website. He simply said, “I don’t know.” I told him that I would have happily made a booking, but it said they were no longer taking bookings, not that one should call. He claimed that it wasn’t advertised because they “don’t want to take too many bookings.” This is nonsense. If you take bookings, then don’t say that you don’t take bookings! Of course, there was nothing that could be done at that point. He said we could get on a call list but would likely need to wait an hour or more. No apology. No stating that he would convey to management that the information on the website wasn’t exactly accurate and was causing confusion. I decided to abandon that lunch plan and go elsewhere.I realise that this comment may sound a bit ridiculous considering the food at Ippuku is delicious and atmosphere is lovely, but my hope is that others know what will be required to get a seat here and that management at Ippuku understand better what would be helpful to their customers. Perhaps they can also explain to their well-intentioned employees how best to deal with misunderstandings like the one we had today. Relationships (personal and business) are everything, and good communication can make or break them.
Adeline Budiman: Amazing food and great ambience. Felt like I was in Japan for a moment.
Amz Wallace: A lovely cosy little place with the most beautiful Japanese food and drink, in terms of both taste and presentation! Lots of options for vegans too. The staff were all lovely and friendly but they were definitely understaffed which meant service was slow, hence losing a star. Sian Dunn: Popped in here just by chance, was trying to see a menu outside but a customer outside vaping heard us deciding on whether to go in and mentioned how good the food was. Sold!Really pleased with everything we ordered, ended up ordering more after we’d had our main because we just wanted to try so much more! Really unexpected having to cook the meat yourself but also means we could cook beef how we like it. Was nice to experience something new.As for comments about the restaurant in other posts, it’s a top floor restaurant in an old York building. We thought it was fine, snug and intimate.Staff were so attentive and the food was great! Our first experience eating Korean food and we weren’t disappointed!Maybe have a menu outside so people can see the range of food you offer :)

Bharthi kaur: I understand other reviews with concerns about price. The 3 star rating for food is because of the portion sizes. There were 3 of us and the bill was £129. I had the grilled chicken with only 4 small pieces at 9.95, and a small bowl of rice we ordered additionally with kimchi was not enough, it also had a bitter taste. My chicken did not taste like teriyaki also and the sides and dips offered with the price of the bbq are miniscule. The teokbokki and veg dumplings were incredibly tasty and moreish but again small portions so we ended up ordering two. The sliced pork for bbq was also just bacon. Service was excellent really friendly staff. Overall the price tag did not reflect the surroundings, it is a cafe and £129 for the portion sizes is not reflected in the food or the environment. I note the owner advised there are costs such as music etc in another review but this was not turned on until part way through the meal. There should also be better ventilation and more space for a table bbq. Some of the food was really tasty but I do think the menu and prices need to be reviewed.

Darla Manguerra: Good food and amazing staff.Definitely try the tteokbokki with cheese and the kimchi pancake.Food: 4/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 4/5 …More
Ben Chamberlain: I opted for the Bibimbap, my usual go to dish. I've had this at many Korean restaurants across the country and have all been pretty similar give or take. This one was vastly different, the hot dish it's served in was hot but soon cooled down and came with (sautéed?) onions and big chunks of broccoli, no pickled ginger, carrots or courgettes. The sauce was not served in a separate dish as standard meaning you couldn't decide on the volume you used and the egg was fried (I was aware of this when ordering) but would have preferred it raw.Overall the dish was tasty don't get me wrong, but very different to every Bibimbap I've had before and at a far higher price tag too
William Owen: I'm sure that they get many satisfied customers but I can only report my personal experience. The staff are friendly and helpful but, for me, the rest of the experience would not encourage me to return. I was in a party of eight and found myself jammed in a corner with little room to move or eat. We ordered to share between four but when the food came it looked pretty unappetising such that I really didn't want to eat, so didn't. There is the atmosphere of an overlit transport cafe and I was really quite pleased to be released from my corner, have a needed wee, and leave.
dave hartley: Mixed feelings here....Not the dining experience i was expecting. The restaurant is dated and in places a little grubby. Absolutely nothing wrong with the food but it was no better than a local takeaway. Service and staff were very good. The final bill didn't reflect the the overall dining experience. No rush to go back but wouldn't avoid it.Wheelchair accessibility: None
叶隽毅: The taste is average, and the price is slightly higher. Overall, it is disappointing.
Fay West: BBQ meat very tasty. It comes in a set with lettuce leaves, banchan and sauces, and you can order extras like steamed rice for extra cost. The two of us ordered one BBQ set for two and a dish of Teokbokki. Service was friendly. Food is not the cheapest, and portions not huge, but it was reasonably priced for its taste. I enjoyed being able to experience an authentic Korean BBQ during a trip to York. It made a lovely date night.Restaurant is a little out of the way, but easy enough to find. The restaurant is up on the third floor.Wheelchair accessibility: Restaurant is on the third floor accessible only by stairs.
Y S: Delicious food, the right amount of spice for us. The food tasted very authentic, the stew looked a little oily from what I’m used too. But overall the food was fabulous and would recommend this little gem in York.
Gadget Repairs: Korean? I think not. The waitress didn't even know what Hite was. Portions are laughable. Obviously taking advantage of tourists. I'd rather eat McDonald's than go here again. Very poor indeed.
Sam West: Had a great meal but it wasn't quite good enough to justify the near £100 for 2 people, mainly due to the small size of the meals. It was undeniably good food but just not even nearly enough of it to justify the price. We had 3 meals between 2 people as we'd heard the portions are small but we were still hungry afterwards and left somewhat dissatisfied. The next day we ate at a thai restaurant down the road and had very similar quality food for less than 1/3 of the oshibi price, and didn't leave hungry..
Cal O'Connell: Always amazing food and amazing service. Highly recommended! (Edit: Still amazing even since my last review)
Gary Dickinson: Very nice food , if you fancy something different give it a go.

YO! York: what do users think?
Wendy Gee: Taken to this Sushi bar by my two grandsons who were visiting York. It was great! They ordered and I sampled the various dishes. The staff were very attentive and helpful. Matthew Cobb: Personally, not my thing but my teenage kids love it. From my pov, too pricey. Also, kitchen area looked a mess.Food: 3/5|Service: 3/5|Atmosphere: 3/5 …More
Nastia wearing glasses: Pretty bad food, expected much more. Sushi looks sloppy and tasted same. But friendly staff. Didn't cost that moneyFood: 2/5|Service: 4/5|Atmosphere: 2/5 …More
Evelyn Grzedzicki: Nothing special, overrated and overhyped. Would have been reasonably priced but the portions were too small. The staff were a bit unkempt looking, slow, not paying attention. The kitchen staff were missing orders from several tables. Our food came separately as one had been forgotten, and so one was cold. One came round the conveyor belt with the lid half off and dragging. The place looked shabby and dirty. I asked for a glass and was given a plastic cup that looked like it had been kicked around for a few years. Food itself was okay, but not the best I've had by a long way. Probably won't go back, just didn't think much of it.

Jason Bentley (Swampy): Food was well prepared, and tasted lovely. You can tell that the chefs enjoy what they do. One little problem to point out, is that primarily, you place your order online via your phone. And the the food gets brought to you. Now, I don’t mind the concept, but the network signal within the place is dire. So, it may take some time before you can place your order. They can do it manually if you ask though.
M J D: Small portions and arrived in no order, quality didn’t match price. Uninterested service provided. A lot of mix ups with the orders. Looked to struggle with delivery collections vs. Dining in customers food flow. Would not revisit.

SevenENG ̈: I've not yet been disappointed by a Yo! Sushi, and York is no exception. Whether it's the fact you're in York that makes this one better is up for debate, but I'm a lover. Good food, quiet atmosphere and friendly staff.Vegetarian options: The vegetarian chicken katsu curry was impeccable. Succulent chicken, flavorful sauce, fluffy rice, good portion size. Overall, spot on!
Jamie Darch: Service was okay but nothing special. Sushi was also okay. It’s a shame plates aren’t back on conveyer yet.
Paul Gallagher (Gally Photo): Poor since the conveyor belt doesn't allow you to pick and choose what you fancy as it goes past. Very hard to get a member of staff’s attention and they don't do anything to sort out the problem once they have your money by ordering up front on a phone. Had the korean chicken bowl. Soo sweet it was indelible. When I finally got hold of a member of staff they just shrugged, agreed it was too sweet and walked off. 😭
Jordan R: First time I'd ever visited a YO! sushi restaurant. Unfortunately due to COVID having changed things (though probably for the best in all honestly) there is no longer food constantly circulating round their conveyer belt that you can just pick from and pay at the end. Now instead you use your phone to scan a QR code to get the menu and you order and pay on there for each dish. Food was quite good, no real complaints there, I love sushi, even if it is a chain restaurants sushi. My low rating for service comes because well... There is none really, they seat you and that's it, though I will grant that food was served quickly via the belt when ordered, though (and this ties into my low atmosphere rating) we were basically the only people in there so there was no atmosphere. Felt quite dark and cold as well (not temperature wise, just hollow cold). I would also say, it is incredibly expensive. Between three of us to have a satisfying amount of food we collectively spent around £100 just for lunch, and that's with my wife who has very little appetite. All in all as a first time goer to one of these places... It was ok, wouldn't be hurrying back, I'd rather find an independent sushi or Japanese restaurant myself, especially considering that for a chain restaurant you'd expect cheaper prices than an independent, but that's definitely not the case here.
Adam Grayson: I've been a number of times, big sushi lover, as much of a chain as YO is I'm yet to be let down, always consistent. Service has been great, last time we visited there was only one waitress and she was absolutely run off her feet so service was slow, though nothing against her at all! Prices aren't too bad, but I'd miss drinks as they're the bank breaker. There is something to be said about the observed cleanliness in the kitchen, but I'm staying out of that one.

Waitrose & Partners York: what do users think?
Lucy bloomfield: Store has a pretty friendly vibe, some of the layout was a bit confusing but otherwise good. The cafe was nice but didn’t have much vegan options
Ben W: Drove 40 minutes (each way) to buy some Essential Waitrose Sensitive Laundry Detergent, but the shelf was empty. The lady went to look, but couldn't find any. What a waste of time. Not impressed.
VIKING ENGINEERING AND REPOWER: FANTASTIC really nice store lots parking clean well stocked staff helpful and friendly10/10 def go here again 👍
A. 2424: OK but beware usually closed for hot food very early..
Alañ Dale: Very good quality goods but pricey. Free coffee an added bonus, worth another star!!
Andreea Danciu: very nice selection of sushi, shame about the lady that bumped me
Stuart Thomson: A good selection of produce and friendly staff.
James MacDonald: Great little supermarket.
Vic Scott: Always enjoy a sit down and coffee.
Stephen Harper: Don't go shopping at waitrose if your looking for a cheap groceries although the quality of the groceries are good you will pay for what you buy !Saying that what you will find is a wide choice of goods other supermarkets do not stock !The staff are helpful and knowledgeable about what they are selling !An enjoyable experience BUT it will hit you in the back pocket !Only 3 stars because in todays climate you need to watch your finances !
Viv Chamberlin-Kidd: Always love shopping here
Nina J: Not too busy, skilled butcher, good quality produce.
Sandra Warburton: Got everything on list and a little more! Fantastic range of goods!
Dan Doig: Uncooked bland food (mushroom in the veggie breakfast was literally raw), very basic overall and a strange chilli sauce smothered over the halloumi. Staff could look a bit more interested too. Avoid
gainem: Still excellent quality and value for money; but I'm not particularly enamoured with the new layout: I.e, beer next to the butter, pudding next to the pies etc.
Emilyy 159: Came in a couple night ago and had some trouble with the self scanners, sue was absolutely lovely and sorted it all out for us straight away! Lovely woman and a credit to the store
Matt Dungey: I went to pick up an item ordered from John Lewis. The clock and connect sign was pointing in the wrong direction, so I went round the shop & then realised it was exactly where I thought it should be. The person on the counter was grumpy and more interested in serving the person behind me.
Neil Brooke: Very poor self scan
Mandy JC: Absolutely diabolical, fresh is NOT fresh anymore, pay more than mainstream supermarkets and what for?,, but rubbish,,, staff need training to get it right,,, its not rocket science for heavens sakes!!
chris priston: The store is looking rather tired and needs a good refurbish.Self service tills are diabolical not user friendly at all.
David Tetchner: Always well stocked and the staff are forever pleasent and helpful.
