DoubleTree by Hilton York: what do users think?
Womble McWomble: Impressed with this hotel, clean and comfy, decent breakfast. Special mention for the team here, every single member of staff I had any interaction with were absolutely lovely - made my stay really pleasantWalkability: 5 minutes from the Shambles and other historic bits of the city
David Thomas: Excellent staff especially the tall blond girl with long hair and a very good buffet breakfast and a good locationRooms: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Location: 5/5 …More
Nick Brown: Just left the hotel after a long weekend stay of 3 nights. What a gem! Room was excellent and well serviced, breakfast first class and plentiful, bar roomy and welcoming. Located 50 metres outside the walls at monk bar and just 5 minutes from York minster makes this an easy access to the city centre and attractions.A well done to all the staff front of house or hidden for a brilliant stay.Absolutely Fabulous 😎
ETS Thrapston Jonathan White: Lovely overnight stay right next to Monk Bar access to the city wallRooms: SpaciousNearby activities: City centreWalkability: Next to Monk Bar
Matthew Skermer: This DoubleTree is a bit quirky. From the look of it, they renovated a group of old work buildings and turned them into hotel rooms. I liked the concept. Unfortunately the area I was staying looked a little run down and could do with a bit of renovation - both inside and outside the room. Other than the decoration, my duplex was comfortable enough. It was quite small, even on 2 floors, but had what I needed. If I had been staying with my wife I would have felt cramped. (Some of the sockets charged devices really slowly, others normal speed, so I recommend you test them out before charging for long periods).Welcome on reception was quick and staff were very friendly. They gave me a welcome cookie (with gluten and nuts - I took one for a gift for my wife when I went home) and told me to return for more if I wanted. Well...it would be rude to turn down such a kind offer, wouldn't it? 😉The gym was fine for a hotel gym. I've posted pictures because I didn't see any photos of all the equipment. Dumbbells only go up to 20kg and there is no barbell, so if you're into heavier weights or want to work legs with resistance training you might struggle to do what you want. It was shoulders and abs day for me, so I coped fine. Another plus - it's 24 hours, so when I woke at 5am and couldn't get back to sleep after an hour of trying (through no fault of the hotel's - the rooms were quiet) I was able to have an early morning workout.Breakfast in the morning was ok. I found it a bit strange that the waiter told me he can bring me coffee or tea and waited for me to ask for an espresso before telling me that anything other than filter coffee or tea would be an extra charge. I wasn't the only one confused as the next guest to come in made a similar request and switched her order to filter coffee when told she'd have to pay. (Management: Please ask the waiters to explain 'We can bring your filter coffee or tea, but if you would like speciality coffees it will cost extra'? It'd make it much easier on pre-caffeine guests to skip that part of the conversation) The cooked breakfast had the usual stuff you get at all-you-can eat breakfasts, including gluten-filled sausages. It really annoys me that hotels haven't moved to gluten free sausages even though they're so cheap nowadays and don't taste any different. But there was a separate section with gluten free bread, a separate toaster and gluten free müsli. As well as these, there were cold meats, cheeses, fresh fruit, defrosted frozen fruit and yoghurt. There were probably also gluten-filled pastries, but I didn't check that table.I enjoyed my stay here and would probably stay again if it was at the right price.
TIM Woodgett: Not a great experience. Room was outside in a new block with very poor sound proofing. When neighbours doors closed it shook the neighbours walls. WiFi did not work in room, informed reception twice who didn't seem to know what to do or care, no one followed up. Was forgotten at dinner and it took over an hour to be served a burger and drink. Was told my drink would be refunded, it wasn't. Couldn't be bothered to wait even longer for bill to be sorted. When going to sleep noticed that sheets were dirty but didn't report as no one seemed to care. Won't be returning.
Russell Phillips: Location is spot on. Food is good. Service excellent. Parking v tight, suggest early as people sign out attempt to get parking. Only downside, my room a little tender care - maintenance would go a long way.V quiet but was easter weekend!Rooms: Mine needed some attention. No working windows. No air con. Redecoration in order. Small missable issues here and there. No wifi. But did get good phone signal.Nearby activities: Edge on the main walking areas, suporb for walking visit.Food & drinks: Limited but spot on drinks were mostly off but food great, got a breakfast token and could have utterly pigged out. V nice choices.
Lisa Sims: Food & drinks: Great choice for breakfastRooms: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Location: 4/5Hotel highlights Luxury, Quiet …More
David Cooper: Where do we start, totally inadequate car parking, however we were directed to another car park (cue fiddly app download) where we disturbed a shifty looking pair checking out cars as we left ours. IdealThe room itself was dated and had a fusty smell to it and was accessed my making my way through dirty corridors, going outside, then back in, another tiny corridor and a narrow stairway and eventually found it, it was very cold despite the tiny heater which I set to 31 and still blew cold air out, I got to bottom of the buzzing sound I could hear when I killed a large fly that was cohabiting with me, however being above the kitchens or air con units it was still noisy despite the departure of my visitor, the final straw as the restaurant where I waited 20 mins for my order only to then be told there was no fish left, no meal then. After so much disappointment I didn’t even bother going down for the breakfast, I couldn’t take anymore, hopefully I’ll never have to visit this establishment again, I cannot believe it has the Hilton name.
bill alderson: Stayed 25 March 2 nights for my birthday, Room 39, was difficult to get to, lots of stairs, room was poorly lit and dingy with a moisture smell, poorly maintained bathroom had gaps around bath panel with missing filler. Bathroom windows “caked” in bird pooh.Woke at 4 am with fire alarm (no fault of hotel) however night staff had difficulty resetting alarm. Couldn’t get a drink at the bar after 10:30 pm on 25th was told that there was no room service available.Overall Staff were excellent, don’t think I’d stay again, rooms in the vicinity of 39 if anything like ours need overhaul, not suitable access for elderly.Definitely not worth £288 over £300 when you add breakfast.
rab qureshi: Looks great and inviting. Set in a courtyard setting with individual accommodation. Very clean.Rooms: 4/5|Service: 4/5|Location: 4/5 …More
Jodi Crompton: Stayed here last night, had an amazing time. Friendly staff, beautiful food and cosy rooms. We'll definitely be staying again, thanks.Nearby activities: Few minutes from the cathedral
Bex O'Gorman: Rooms: My room was very compact - I am 5'2 and could easily touch the ceiling. Beams were nice, but had I been any taller I would have banged my head!Rooms: 3/5|Service: 3/5|Location: 4/5 …More
Shelly 5520: Very goodRooms: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Location: 5/5 …More
Will Miller: Nice wee place to stay, room was decent! Staff were polite and attentative. I'd say the price did not match the room quality but otherwise a good visit (minus the fire alarm on Sunday morning)Nearby activities: Lots of places to visit and places to eat close byWalkability: Very close to all places of interest in york
Geoffrey Goulton: Plug missing in sink. Heater not working .Stain to chair cushion. Breakfast was goodRooms: 4/5|Service: 5/5|Location: 5/5 …More

Hotel Indigo York, an IHG Hotel: what do users think?
Juliet Cusick: Lovely hotel in city centre. Great room with everything you could ask for including monsoon shower and robes. Good selection of tea/coffee and biscuits/cake. Breakfast was great. Really good service even though busy and food was excellent. Best Eggs Royale I've ever had! Would highly recommend this hotelRooms: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Location: 5/5Hotel highlights Luxury …More
Jackie Plant: Excellent, friendly service from all staff especially receptionRooms: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Location: 5/5 …More
Mel Yehya: What a great hotel! Booked through one of the Virgin experience vouchers and will definitely be back. Great location, central to York and our favourite restaurant. The rooms are AMAZING! We're really impressed! The whole hotel is immaculately clean and smells sooooo nice! There is a 24 hour car park around the corner, which costs £13 for a 24 hour period. We hadn't had breakfast, which was included in our rate, at the time of writing, but I'm sure it will be great!
Chris: Fantastic modern, spotlessly clean hotel in a great location, very close to Yorks attractions, excellent staff and service, breakfast's were really good with a wide choice, reasonable priced parking just around the corner. Overall an ideal hotel for a stay in York.Rooms: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Location: 5/5Hotel highlights Luxury, Quiet …More
Adam Bennett: Top class place, 2nd time there and we'll be back. Can't recommend highly enough.Rooms: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Location: 5/5Hotel highlights Romantic, Quiet …More
Darren Stephenson: Really nice hotel right in the centre of York
Ben Alexander: Had a great stay here and when I return to York I would opt to stay here price being equal, and that's should be all i need to say, if you will stay somewhere again then it did its job.Breakfast here is good, they have continental laid on so you can help yourself there and you order a hot breakfast. One thing I think would elevate it though would be hot drink vending (bean to cup coffee machine) available to the patrons like many other Hotels have at breakfast times.Gym on site is small but good enough to get a work out in, I used it and was on my own, if there were multiple people in the fitness suite it might be a bit crowded. My only mark down on the room (219 for reference) was simply because our room didn't have any net curtains, looking out the window it seemed like all others did, so the options were either curtains drawn all the time or curtains open all the time.Staff all very friendly and helpful especially the gent who showed me to the gym when I couldn't find it.Rooms: Everything you would want from a room, clean, plenty of space, good shower, TV, mini fridge, tea and coffee making facilities.Walkability: While a bit of a walk from the train station, it's only a 5 minute walk from the centre of York so you're really can't moan, there is also plenty of restaurants and bars too and from the hotel.
Damian Hill: Have just spent a couple of nights here as tourists in York. It was a nice clean and welcoming hotel in a great location.
Alan Jones: Visited with my partner and what a fantastic experience it was. The staff were super friendly. Quirky room with good facilities. Breakfast had a fantastic selection with continental options and cooked food to order which is always a plus! Would stay again.Rooms: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Location: 5/5 …More
Alessandro: Ottimo hotel, personale gentilissimo. Stanza piccolina ma ben organizzata e bella. Non centralissimo ma York è piccola e si arriva ovunque.
John Hanson: Very nice hotel all the staff where pleasant and helpful. The rooms where clean. we went for breakfast there was no waiting everything was served more or less immediately. The only thing that wasn't quite right for me was the bed. it was very uncomfortable but apart from that I can't fualt the hotel.
Texier Jérôme: Great Staff !Warmly welcomed. Rooms are clean and well decorated.Well located : really close to the pedestrian streets !Was a pleasur to stay there.Rooms: Clean !Walkability: Perfectly located.

Kay Lovelady: Just returned from a long weekend in York. Fabulous hotel right in the city centre and short walk to shambles.Hotel was lovely, clean and welcoming. Definitely recommend the breakfast, best choice and quality of food we have seen in long time. Rooms were modern and some nice touches such as biscuits, lovely big towels and slippers.Only slight gripe was they forgot balloons and banners I had paid extra for as husbands 60th bday (also not worth cost) and King size beds are not king size (uk not European king size!) Basically a double. That said would definitely go back and will be recommending to friends and family
Gayle Skinner: Excellent hotel, friendly staff. Great value for money and so many extra touches included in room. Breakfast, lots of choice. Cooked breakfast superb.Rooms: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Location: 5/5Hotel highlights Luxury, Quiet, Great value …More

Dasha S: Be aware - this hotel sadly has been a victim to recent hotel industry issues and as such not only lacking 5 star service but also has degraded beyond belief.Sadly, I must report that this hotel cannot be recommended to anyone who has expectation of good service by trained stuff, comfortable beds, 5 star service, great breakfast and management that understands hotel industry and the needs of its customers then sadly you are at the wrong address… oh and if you have allergies get yourself ready to be “killed” or “assassinated”Essentially, this hotel doesn’t respect allergies, there is at least 30 mins wait for a breakfast table as a hotel guest, the duty manager Elliot has probably only finished eliminatory school and has zero understanding of his profession or customer needs, stuff ignores booking and allergies of feather or non feather and what’s worse the hotel is truly unapologetic for what they do - they took away my duvet and had put for the second night of my stay all of sudden feather pillow so I ended up with allergic shock and no duvet, and guess what they refused to make any compensation of the room rate for that night with no duvet and allergic bomb! And we booked two rooms - paid 4 nights and the hotel refused to compensate even one night! Conclusion - if you want to stay at a hotel where sadly management is stuffed by low IQ (Elliott) then you are at the right address. Otherwise, poor service, long wait for anything ordered, no apologies, no skill set to win back and make an unhappy customer happy again - poorly stuffed and skilled place with hard mattresses and hard pillows

G U: Disappointing. Stayed here last year and had a beautiful room. Returned this year because we really liked our room last year. Sadly, this time around we were given a very dated room, not what you’d expect for the £200 price tag. A Premier Inn would have much nicer rooms for a fraction of the price. Needless to say, won’t be returning, despite original plans to come back in July.

Wendy Taylor: We really enjoyed our stay here. The room was overlooking the racecourse. There was a balcony which, I imagine is lovely to sit out on in the summer! The bed was a comfy super king. Bathroom had a walk in shower, a bath and shower over and was nice and spacious. Complimentary robes and slippers (up to size 14, EU 40 (6/7) The bar area was nice. Food a bit pricy (£15) for a ceaser salad. About £12.50 for 2 alch drinks. I would highly recommend breakfast £14.50 ea but it was superb. Weekends overed self service, cooked items, fruit, artisan breads, salmon, cold meats, cheese, cereals and pastries. The fresh waffles were amazing (naughty but nice). Located 15 mins from the outlet, close to Askham Bar park and ride. Several amenities close by. Overall the stay was good. On average 2 nights over a weekend inc breakfast was just over £300. We would definitely stay here again.
Steven schools: Great place to stay, if you are OK to walk 20 mins into town or get £10 cab, rooms lovely and large and not too expensive, good service, we were checked in by Tyler who was great and made us feel welcome.Rooms: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Location: 4/5 …More

Eddie Wilson: Very nice clean and welcoming. Nice food and service. The hotel is very convenient for York Town centre and minster.Rooms: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Location: 5/5Hotel highlights Quiet …More
Linda Brooks: First room looked clean when we went in but empty water bottle underneath a chair, not sure how that could be missed. Vibrations from something made sleeping difficult. Second room was ok but there was a doorway into next room blocked by luggage rack but light was on in next room all night so shining in our room. Breakfasts were OK ,lots of choice but bacon, eggs, sausage were dry.
Natalie Seal: Great hotel. Breakfast choices are good! Everything was just right
Angela Philo: I took my mum away for mother's Day to York at the Marriott Hotel the staff couldn't do enough so helpful. The room was wonderful cleaned every day they did up grade us. We got the bus into city centre and the fare was really good best getting a return.l would recommend this hotel to everyone thank you for a wonderful time.Angie and Iris.
Andy: I'd like to say this was an amazing room to stay in, but it wasn't, we had a room overlooking the race course very nice ,the room was dated some creepy looking chairs and the bed was to big too uncomfortable , we both slept poor, breakfast was the best thing , plenty to choose from hot and cold. Sorry to say I wouldn't rush back. Not even a frosted window in the bathroom outrageous.
Sharon Dempster: Stayed for the weekend, bed was very comfortable and room was very spacious. Smart TV, iron and board, hair dryer and safe. It was spotlessly clean and smelt fresh. Staff were welcoming and friendly. Buffet breakfast was plentiful, fresh and hot. Everything from a full English to continental, my only disappointment was there was no blackpudding. Pool and spa area was clean and warm with towels provided. £1 coin needed for lockers. Views over the race course. Bus stop across the road and also a garage for those late night snacks. It is a little dated but it's well looked after. Would be happy to stay there again.
Vicky Colombo: Great hotel with am amzing, helpful, welcoming staff. Rooms confortable, clean and quiet area.Rooms: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Location: 5/5Hotel highlights Quiet, Great value …More
Petra Bamber: Requested an alteration of dates 2 months in advance. Even though they have availibilities for the requested weekend, just checked with them over the phone, they won't let us change the dates. This was supposed to be a little treat before my operation, which was moved forward, hence the request for alteration. Absolutely shocking. Cancellation fee is the whole amount already paid.

Armand Zoga: Very professional management, after sam little problems(normal on full week and) everything go very good. Very nice experience with a fantastic bar restaurant. Sure we’ll be back again.

Jon Harvey: We stay here most years when attending a weekend event at the racecourse. It's a handy location for both the racecourse and York itself. We use a family room and in our experiences the rooms have been big and the bathrooms have been small. The buffet breakfast is a solid win, and we've not noticed a decrease in quality over the years and as inflation has hit.The room price however has increased to the point where we can't afford it without considerable use of vouchers and very early booking. On arrival, reception had no record of vouchers and tried to charge us the full amount. They were pleasant though and once we had produced evidence of the booking it was all quickly sorted out.We would love to keep coming here, if we can get suitable deals at the right time.
Yimmy Kurniawan: Nice hotel, if you found my reading glass please let me know 😂🙏
Jeannie Newcombe: Had breakfast with family here. There was a dog with our party so the staff arranged a lovely table just outside the dining area. Breakfast was really good and there was an amazing variety of food.Great place to stay too by all accounts but I’d even go back for the breakfast alone
Colin Barron: The room was fine and we enjoyed our stay in hotel/ York. I left my mobile charger in room. I e mailed front of desk to see if it was found, no reply. I phoned and was told they would check room and I would receive a reply still waiting 3 days later. It's only a mobile charger but that's not the point.

M D: My room is in the built on part and was chilly and I couldn't make head nor tail of the air con/heating. No opening window and it was a shower only bathroom. Room was OK otherwise.Room was serviced whilst my no service door hanger was on so cross about that. Happened to several in the party too.Restaurant service was incredibly slow on an evening. We were a large party but they knew we were eating but still had hour and half wait for food. Restaurant staff were friendly though.Breakfast offering was OK. No museli and watery orange juice but cooked breakfast looked decent.
Anthony James Hall: Staff were friendly and helpful, the breakfast buffet was particularly good.Just one minor complaint the evening menu was very limited and left a bit to be desired. Our room was very nice and comfortable.Nearby activities: Thirty minute walk to the main attractions in York or ten mins by car, some nice pubs and cafes nearby

Charlotte: Great stay in York! Check in was quick - thanks to Vishnu! Ample free parking which is the reason we picked this hotel. Only 15 minutes on the bus into York £4.80 for a day saver. Breakfast was good - plenty of choice. Room had everything you could need - kettle, hairdryer, tea and coffee, air con and you could even open a window! Great pub across the road - The Fox and Roman! York designer outlet only 10 mins in the car. Will definitely return!
Dev Mistry: We booked a family room for 2 adults, 2 children. The hotel seemed nice on arrival. Enough free parking, clean, tidy friendly staff. However, got to room and not enough towels, not enough cups, no shower gel, hand soap almost running out. Bathroom was so small almost had to step over the toilet to shut the door. Basically too small for a family room. The second bed was a dated folding bed which had exposed mental hinges. Very dangerous if sleeping on it. We put pillows over the metal! Things got worse going on. Breakfast seemed ok. Nothing special. Left to explore York for the day. On return I found the room hadn't been serviced. Beds not made, towels not replaced, bins not emptied. Called reception and they said not able to sort the room, but they did send up toweis and cups. Day 2. On eay to breakfast we asked the guys servicing the other rooms if they could do ours as well as not done the previous day. All agreed. Went out for the day. On return room still wasnt serviced. Went down to complain. Manger wasn't there, but the night desk team were sympathetic, and sent up the evening room service person to help sort out the room. Went out the following morning spoke to the manger on the way out. He started making excuses. Said it wasn't his fault the rooms weren't setvice! He's the manager. Who else would be responsible! He promised to make sure it was done. Went into breakfast and children asked for boiled eggs instead of the only other option of scrambled. We were told there are no eggs in the building. Long story short, the scrambled eggs are made from pasteurised powder not real eggs (yuk)!.Were were there for 4 nights, room was never serviced. We were in reception ever day to complain about something. Not what you need when you've paid a lot for a break. If we wanted to do our own beds and tidy the room we would have stayed at home! Very disappointed with the service. We would not recommend staying at this hotel particularly as a family. Holiday Inn is just not geared up to host families.
Paul Elgar: Check in is at 3pm. We arrived at 2pm and waited at the bar. When it came to 3pm many people were trying to get their rooms and some people were frustrated at the delay because rooms weren't ready. One couple called for the Duty Manager, Fakhri Barhoumi, who was the rudest hotel manager I've ever encountered! He even offered to pay for guests to go somewhere else!!!!! He may just be having a bad day, but also said I don't care if I lose my job over this. His attitude was appalling and he raised his voice as he made excuses about the computer and check in process, rather than listen to customers feedback.

M J D: The room was small and walls thin. The shower had no extraction fan, ensuring the shower stayed moist constantly during stay or, opening the door to let it spread but causes room to be uncomfy. The double bed was 2x single beds put together but this was troublesome as 1 of the single beds was ‘lower’ than the other causing sinking within the mattress. The 2x single beds were not connected which caused a gap in the middle during the night. There was mould on the bottom-right curtain. Plug sockets were nowhere near the bed, meaning you needed to charge your phone not within handling distance. The showers drain wasn’t great which allowed water to drip on the floor and shower tray was bowing. For £170, I wasn’t even asked if I enjoyed my stay on checkout. The location is a redeeming factor.
Lisa Edwards: We booked 2 nights at The Holiday Inn York City Centre for a family of 4 over the Easter break. I booked online via the IHG app (I am a member so get discounts on rooms and earn poinys for every stay.) Online booking was very easy and we chose a double room with sofa bed and opted to have breakfast on both mornings of our stay. There is no parking available at the hotel but we found a car park a short walk away which cost £9.95 for 24 hours parking. The hotel was easy to find and the location was perfect. Just a short walk to the city centre and located next to the city walls and the river. There is Wetherspoons opposite where we had lunch on the first day. Check-in was at 3pm but we arrived at 2pm and were allowed to check in early as the room was ready for us. The check-in process was really straightforward and the receptionist was very friendly and informative. We were given room 312. The room was in a great location as right next to the lift and stairs. The room was a little on the small side, compared to other hotels, but the beds were comfy and it was clean. Amenities as standard (tea and coffee facilities, hairdryer, plenty of towels and lovely toiletries). The only issue with the room was the shower. The drainage was very poor so if you put the shower on full it flooded the bathroom. So we had to have half power showers. Other than that there were no other issues. Breakfast was a hot and cold buffet. The Dining room is quite small and due to it being the Easter break it was very busy. The breakfast was good quality and there were enough options to cater to all requirements. Overall we enjoyed our stay and would definitely book again next time we visit York.
Rosemary M: Staff really friendly and helpful, great choice of freshly cooked breakfast, short walk to city centre and very close to Barbican.Rooms: Very clean and spacious.

Grays Court Hotel and The Bow Room Restaurant: what do users think?
David Nugent: A wonderful boutique hotel in the historic heart of York. If you’re looking for somewhere to stay this the place to lay your head eat, drink and be merry plus a stunning garden to boot.

Ian H: Our one night stay here was very enjoyable. The hotel is in a fabulous location meaning it's only a short walk into the centre. One of my main concerns when looking for hotels in York was parking. Grays Court has a number of spaces and what looked like an overflow through some gates when it was full. We didn't have a problem but were advised to phone ahead of arrival to secure a space. We were charged £20 extra but it provided piece of mind and is very much an industry standard now, especially in City Centre's. All staff we came across were very polite, especially Suzanne (apologies if I have this wrong), who gave us a guided tour of the hotel before showing us to our room. The room was lovely with all standard amenities supplied. Breakfast next day was within a two hour window (8am - 10am), and was enjoyable. One very small gripe was that there was no baked beans with the full English. Check out was smooth and the gift bag on departure was a nice touch.
Andy Grant: From the moment you arrive, the service is excellent. The tasting menu at The Bow Restaurant is amazing; one of the best we've experienced and in a formal, but relaxing atmosphere. Again superb, attentive staff. We stayed in Edwards room with amazing copper bath upstairs- luxurious! Breakfast one of the best you'll ever eat and location adjacent to the minster is unrivalled. Very highly recommended.
Ian Lester: A wonderful stay. The staff were so kind and helpful when my wife felt unwell. We also had a excellent dinner too.
kat achtelik: Truly magical place! We dined at the Bow last night - what an experience. Beautiful interiors, fantastic service (special thanks to Alda and Arnaldo) and unforgettable tasting menu with excellent wine pairing. We’ll be back!
Chris Green: Lovely place, shame about the extortionate price and stingy portions. Watch out for the member of staff hovering with a tablet, adding on very expensive extras without making the cost clear beforehand. Hefty service charge added to the bill without consultation. A real shame. A lovely place with great potential. Unfortunately we'll not be returning.Food & drinks: See previous for review of a tasting menu meal with wine pairing. .
Matthew Pearson: Stayed for the New Years weekend as a package with some friends. Tasting menu for New Years Eve dinner was absolutely amazing along with perfect wine pairing. Staff worked incredibly hard all weekend and were brilliant, friendly and knowledgeable. We have stayed here a few times now and cannot recommend it enough. First Class Hotel 🥂
Carol Dougill: My husband planned a surprise mini break for us and Gray’s Hotel was the highlight! The hotel is positioned perfectly next to York Minster and therefore close to the centre, an easy stroll in along a cobbled lane. The staff were so friendly and polite, nothing was too much trouble for them. They all spoke of how they are treated as family by Helen, so the atmosphere was superb. The rooms were beautifully presented, wonderful furniture and a bed like a nest with super quality bed linen.Breakfasts were delicious… the homemade granola was delicious, we tried everything over our stay and each choice was very good, even the bread and butter were high quality! The Bow Room dining was a very good experience. I think there were 12 ‘courses’ in all with absolutely perfectly presented food. I think a vegetarian option would go down well, but you could not complain about the meal, service and wine pairings.Even as we left yesterday, we were given a little bag with water, local of course, and a cookie for our journey. The little touches show the care that is taken by the staff, under Helen’s direction.Thank you so much everyone, we will be back!
Andrew Wells: The Grays Court was a lovely experience and I highly recommend this hotel for a trip to York. The staff was outstanding, incredibly warm and inviting. The history of the building itself is incredible, the gardens are beautiful, the food is delicious, the drinks are tasty.I stayed in the Aske room and it was not very large, but frankly for a building from the 11th century I wasn't expecting a massive room. There is no air conditioning in the hotel rooms which would definitely be an issue for me if I was traveling in the summer. I can't fault the owners for this because again, it's a historic building. In the fall we found the rooms to be quite warm, we should have asked for a fan as they are available and that would have helped a lot.Rooms: The rooms are not very large but that's expected for a building from the 11th century. There is no air conditioning, and even in the fall I found the rooms quite warm. I would ask for a fan on a future visit.Walkability: This hotel is in an excellent location with a lot of attractions and restaurants in walking distanceFood & drinks: The food and drink options at the hotel are incredible. The breakfast which is included in the room charge is outstanding. The bartenders in the lounge make excellent drinks as well.

Becky S: I visited for the day to complete a course. The staff are all fantastic, I was able to call ahead and book a parking space. Principal York: what do users think?
Kay Cox: Absolutely beautiful hotel, the decor was lovely. We were not there for an overnight stay but, I'm sure the rooms were equally stylish. However, the Garden Room experience was not so good. Again, the decor was lovely, but the young, clueless staff needed some serious training. The coffee was mediocre, it arrived with no sugar, we asked for sugar, which arrived but no spoons! The used cups were not cleared. There were no cakes/pastries or even a biscuit available at 11.30 in the morning. I waited 10 minutes just to pay the bill. Overall, our experience did not live up to expectations.
Rich Reynolds Magician: Stunning venue!I performed at loads of weddings and corporate events over the years at this epic venue! The main hotel is beautiful and the purpose built events centre is perfect for the evening celebration. They have a great team too! 👍🏻

Chris Leo: Great hotel. Brilliant location. Elegant.Rooms: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Location: 5/5Hotel highlights Luxury …More
Annalaura Lerede: Definately not a 4 stars hotel.I ended up in the basement section of it, which is really far away from all the other amenities of the hotel and doesn’t feel as nice. The most annoying part was that whenever someone flashed the toilet in the building, it would make a sound and result in my toilet to flash too. It went on every few minutes and it made it hard to rest.
C J (CJ): My partner and I recently had the pleasure of staying at this hotel for a weekend getaway to celebrate my birthday. The city speaks for itself. What sets this hotel apart is its architecture - the long corridors and high ceilings lend a grandeur to that surpasses other hotels in the area. We booked through Secret Escapes and paid a reasonable rate for a hotel which included breakfastWhile the property was renovated in 2015 and we had no major complaints, we did notice some signs of wear and tear. There were marks on the ceilings that hinted at water damage and other areas that could benefit from a fresh coat of paint. Our room was located in a different part of the building that required a walk through the basement to reach. While it wasn't a major issue, the staff whilst very friendly and helpfull , neglected to inform us of the location, and we initially assumed that "floor 5" meant the fifth floor. Nonetheless, our overall experience was good, and we would certainly consider staying here again at the price we paid. However, if we were paying full price or for a larger room, we might not see the same value. That being said, the hotel's location is excellent - a quick glance at Google Maps shows that it is situated in front of the train station. Overall, we recommend this hotel for its impressive architecture, reasonable rates, and excellent location.

Britt Marie Box: I had such a wonderful stay at the Dean Court hotel in York. I stayed in a single room for two nights and loved every minute of it. The proximity is second to none. Walking out of the door and being in the heart of the historic city was something very special indeed. And yet, even though you are right in the centre of the action, my room was a quiet and peaceful haven. I popped back to the room several times a day and it was so convenient. The bed was incredibly comfortable, I could have stayed in it for the entire trip. The staff were so polite and welcoming, it was always nice to be greeted when you got back. I can highly recommend the breakfast as well. Get there early and get a window seat - the best view in York. Needless to say, I rate this hotel very highly and will certainly be back soon.Special thanks to Steve, the general manager for your hospitality.

Mohammad Rajjaque: Located across the road from York Minster. They have parking and valet service (needs booking in advance). Its walking distance from almost everything in York. Food, trains, attractions.. All within 10 minutes walk maximum I think. Breakfast is very good and very quick service. Rooms are clean and cozy. Not the largest but decent size. I stayed for 2 days a week for five weeks and check in/out was a breeze. Staff is happy to accommodate small requests like delayed arrival, extra items for breakfast etc.
Jim Stringer: A beautiful 4 star hotel situated in York city centre, literally a stones throw from the magnificent Minster. We couldn't check in until 3pm, but we were able to leave our bags at reception, ( we were somewhat early), upon check in, our bags had already been taken to our room, a good start to our short 2 day stay for my wifes 60th birthday. The staff are very friendly & efficient, as for the hotel, originally built in the 1850s used as dwellings for the clergy, it is very comfortable with stylish rooms & decor. The restaurant is equally stylish, but caters for customers who prefer a pub like menu, nevertheless, the food is excellent, again, the restaurant staff are brilliant & attentive. A perfect location for exploring York. The hotel provide private parking at a cost.Walkability: The hotel is easily in walking distance to any attraction in York, also, less than a 10 min walk to the rail station.

Andrew Stephens: The hotel let us down very badly. We are very disappointed that the hotel cancelled our reservation with just 4 days' notice. After much research we had chosen and booked a suite at the hotel to celebrate my wife's 60th birthday. The hotel phoned us yesterday afternoon to cancel our booking for Sun-Tues because some refurb work had not been completed. This gave us insufficient time to find an acceptable alternative to mark this very special occasion so we've had to cancel our trip altogether. My wife is so upset and disappointed. Interesting that if we had cancelled, we would have been liable for the full £790 booking fee.
