J. wexler: I had the pleasure of actually visiting with Brian at Jelling Dragon. This is probably one of the oldest online viking/medieval suppliers online, whom I have prowled online for years. I purchased 3 items, 2 of which are higher end. I wanted to see and check the fit on a silver bracelet and wool tunic.I cannot stress enough, the high quality of materials and finish on my items. All visible seams hand sewn, wool is natural and heavy. The finish and weight on the bracelet exquisite.No wonder they have been around for years.The business is located in York in the former building for the Northern Command for the allies in WW2.

The ladies in here took me under their wing and personal shopped for me to a budget so I could get my girlfriend a wonderful set of handmade gifts! We need more of these stores around, I loved being able to chat with the artists and see the joy on their faces when I liked a piece of art and then bought it for very little money. Anne Marie Stagg: This shop is an amazing place to visit.It’s tiny, but absolutely chock full of all manner of creative ideas: wool, buttons, ribbons, scissors, crotchet hooks, knitting patterns, craft kits… the list is endless!I‘ve been popping into this shop for many years -it’s like being a child in a sweet shop-there are so many wonderful things and I want them all!I also appreciate that there is no hard sell-I was making enquiries about tatting materials but in the end, changed my mind. No problem!If you are looking for specific haberdashery, if you are looking for a craft kit or simply need a knitting pattern, this really is the best place in York to find what you need.

Josh Cheang: A lovely, chilled atmosphere with super friendly staff who are happy to take the time to explain how things work. Across all our visits the staff were always lovely. My only concern is the chaotic way finished items are organised and how communication is conducted after the painting is finished. We were initially told it would take 2-3 weeks to fire our pots, with a text/call to confirm collected. 3 visits and 8 weeks later we managed to collect our items, however no text/call was made. We basically had to keep visiting to see if times were ready to collect.All in all a good experience but slightly frustrating post customer care.
Catherine Ford: What a hoot!!My sister organised for my hen an afternoon session of pot making, by hand and on the wheels. Caroline & Angela were excellent teachers, nothing was too much trouble when all 15 of us were heckling asking questions! 😂 Most of all they were brilliant fun and really added to the experience and atmosphere that they created! We were complete beginners and from the moment we arrived they made us feel at ease. The demonstrations were really useful and explained well, and they were always on hand to answer any questions as we were practicing. It was very well structured, whilst also having the freedom to experiment. We learnt lots of techniques, from wedging the clay and throwing on the wheel to glazing. We can't recommend the course enough, and we will definitely be back!

Shane Stevenson: Get a lot of letters from relatives in the US with their personalised stamps. So wanted to get my own and found Make Your Mark. Ordered one for myself and my sister. Dealt with Paul to make up our custom stamps. Where I live is famous for its lighthouse and my sister’s house is called the Millrace. So Paul was able to incorporate these into the designs. I’m very impressed with the small details. The clouds aren’t just blank, they have small lined details. Very happy with this purchase. Feel very sophisticated with my fancy paper, personalised stamp and fountain pen. 😉

Laurel Clayson: This was my favorite shop in York. They sell stamps and "just the rubber" in flat packages, perfect for traveling. Hot tip for crafters: they have "handmade by," "knitted by," and "quilted by" type stamps for creating labels for your projects. They also do custom! I do journaling and snail mail art so this place was literally a dream.

Helen Rees-Heseltine: Visited the shop in July whilst in York . It was my second visit having found the shop last year completely by chance. Absolutely love the shop and the stamps they make. I'm a scrapbooker and had no difficulty finding lots of suitable stamps. The quality of the stamped image is brilliant, especially compared to the polymer ones usually available to scrapbookers, and in my opinion really great value. Can't wait to visit again.
