Malcolm Caygill: Nice visit seeing 👀 all the artefacts
Craig Fisher: Absolutely great here...visit york come here
Anne Stagg Hypnotherapy: I do love the Museum Gardens! There is always something new to see in the planting and of course the ruins are great to explore.Visiting today, a Bank Holiday, it was busy but not crowded. For anyone unsteady on their feet please be aware that the Gardens are over different levels but slopes are very gentle.PS Look out for the cheeky squirrels; they love to be photographed!
Cathy Smith: A lovely area to go to, these gardens are beautiful. At this time of year there is so much to see and I had such a wonderful visit

Matthew Hartland: This is a peaceful spot in the heart of York. Just in need of a little tlc after the winter. Well worth a visit.
Stephen B: Peaceful and quiet mostly, small groups and lots of people sitting reading or soaking up some early summer sun. Occasionally interrupted by teens or folks that can't just enjoy the tranquility but they're few and far between
Tinali Garrett: Very beautiful spring flower display
Anastasiia Hill: A lovely place to walk in summer. You can have a picnic on the lawn. Not much to see in general as territory is limited
Marta Sumegi: Csodás botanikuskert, szép időben nagyon kellemes! Tavasszal fantasztikusak a virágok
Philip Ashmore: Beautiful gardens for a relaxing walk 😊
Codexplayer: Lovely place (amazing view)
A Bakol: Perfect day for a walk
Alison Dingle: Only passed through on way to Yorkshire museum, bit too chilly to linger!

York Minster: what do users think?
Vearchi Chis workshop: Book “York Pass” tickets in advance. And buy the “Tower Challenge “ ticket in the church.
k l: Mixed feelings here.1. There was a huge queue and I understand that pre-booking gets priority. However! the ones who did not book were just standing there even when the pre-booked queue was gone. We were treated like some kind of lepers and a few people in the queue started to complain, my family was disgruntled too. I understand pre-booked tickets, although it should be wholly accepted that some people neither want to/have access to the Internet and the ones who are paying on the day should also be factored in and not stand there until LONG AFTER the pre-booked tickets have gone through. It is wrong, it is unethical and it is discrimination.2. Card Only - it is utterly ridiculous that you are a card only premises. This is a historical site which has significant public funding as it comes via the Government. This is a publically owned building and it is utterly ridiculous you are going on a data grab by using COVID as a smoke screen. COVID not that it was ever a thing, is done and dusted and you are using it as an excuse not to accept LEGAL TENDER. A simple explanation, the monarchy is on the bank notes, the head of the church is the king and by association, you are not accepting money from the King. It is utterly disgusting.3. The Minster itself is breath taking and we have been here many times although the area we are most interested in is the undercroft. It seems that in recent times, you have replaced items with historical significance with items of current agenda and placed more reliance on interactive technology.4. All in all, York Minister is a great place to go although you need to search in order to find the REAL gems which we found, although it would appear some of them have been moved. Instead, you are thrusting more agenda based information and policy than anything else.I am sick to death of institutions telling me what I can do, how I can do it and what I must see, say and not see and not say.I understand that if you reply, you will give me the usual "I am sorry that your experience, but in line with guidelines...blah blah blah..."Just sort out your policies, take cash and stop isolating people for not following your data grabbing processes.
Concetta Strazzoso: Bellissima!!! Prezzo 16 sterline un po' esoso!!
Kordian Dymnicki: Very good
Christopher J Keeffe: The second primatial See in the Church of England and seat of the Archbishop of York who in the established Church is the Primate of England. There is an entry fee.The Minister is a beautiful church and despite being a tourist attraction is also a working church with liturgies during the day.It is a place where peace and quiet can be found the daily hubbard.
Sweenyt Todd: Truly wonderful building, we spent 90min inside and did the minster steps for the view. You can't help but be amazed at tue architecture and sculpture inside.Visited on Public holiday Wait time No wait Reservation recommended No …More
Simon Wheeler: Amazing building, surprised it’s so much to go inside.
Youme: Expensive to go onside but it was cool from the outside too
Roy Carter: Stunning building, beautiful architecture
Nanny Mcfee: Had a lovely 3 days in York with my parents & my brothers plenty to see & do there
Janet Margerum: Visited on Weekday Wait time Up to 10 min Reservation recommended NoMore
David womack: Again expensive, but not many better cathedrals to view
Nicki Knight: Can't go in York Minster unless you're willing to pay £16 + p/p. Had a good walk around wall and through tiny side streets.Would recommend 👍👍
katherine thornton: York minister, full of history and character at the heart of the city. Be sure to explore and climb the many steps up to the roof! A popular spot for happy Graduation photos too.
Lee: Incredibly beautiful. We found in this church a great beauty, great space, great feeling and a wonderful experience. Anyone will surely have a great experience when visiting this place.
poonam Kapoor popli: Wow, un believable architecture. Beautiful monument.YorkYork Minster is one of the world’s most magnificent cathedrals.Since the 7th century, the Minster has been at the center of Christianity in the north of England, and today remains a thriving church rooted in the daily offering of worship and prayer. The Minster was built for the glory of God. Every aspect of this ancient building - from the exquisite, handcrafted stone through to the unrivaled collection of medieval stained glass - tells the story of Jesus Christ.
Rajeev Addepalli: Visited on Weekday Wait time No wait Reservation recommended NoMore
Charles Ferguson: Beautiful building. A bit pricey for a old age pensioner. The fact that the ticket is valid for 1 year is not much use for foreign visitors.
James Kelly: This place is absolutely massive inside there is plenty to see and do different areas of the minster you can even climb the staircase to the tower of Wich there are quite a few and on the way out via the shop there are plenty of keepsake items to purchase. In the busy times you might have a bit of a wait to get in though. Well worth a visit.
Justyna p.a.: Majestatyczne opactwo, piękny park.

sherry buckton-nicholas: Visited on WeekendMore
Dominoes Tes: Lovely stroll around a big building with plenty to look at of the previous century with glimpses of the recent past also; like how the kitchens changed from the earlier centuries to now. Original stage coaches adorn a mock Street. Cafe also with the actual york castle opposite. £16 entry for museum (reusable for a year). £9.50 for castle.April 2023
Georg Inderbieten: Tolles, informatives und in Teilen interaktives Museum.
Colin Richardson: Great themed areas with loads to see. Well worth a visit.Visited on Public holiday Wait time No wait Reservation recommended Yes …More
Rebecca Diver-Clarke: This was a weird one. Quirky perhaps a better description. Lots to say about it. Where to start…In brief: After 2 hours, I left having learned nothing that was notable or memorable specifically about the history of York. I love history, so it was really disappointing not to have learned more.Value: Four tickets cost over £50 (even inc. 2x older persons). I’ll be unlikely to ever go back, even if the tix are valid for a year. Wish I could get a refund or sell them on. Or simpler, had the option to pay less for a one time ticket.Felt a tiny bit like I’d been tourist-trapped as it wasn’t really a castle either, more of a town hall / old prison.Exhibits: The main museum exhibits were centred on cramming in very random objects from a collector who seemed like a bit of an oddball. I found out very little about him despite reading all the info. I felt like 50% of the objects on were display were mostly junk items with no relevance to York. The street scene lacked authenticity and all felt very ‘replicated’.The ‘prison’ section was no better. Very dated ‘projections’ with longwinded and mostly uninteresting stories about some of the prisoners. Only a few rooms of the museum are set aside for this, despite being the most ‘authentic’ part of the building’s history. I went through it in about 3 minutes. Very uninteresting. The world war 1 section was completely off key. There was absolutely no relevance to York and the ‘trench experience’ (for kids?) felt gratuitous. Especially when followed by a ‘quiet area’ I presume for anyone who got upset by memories of the war. I’m pretty sure there were no trenches in York during WW1 so don’t know what the point of that was apart from tacky Shock Value.I generally felt like all the exhibits and info was a bit tired around the edges and offered very little value given the ticket price. A ropey old XBox 360 is not a museum object with any relevance to York!Food and drink: The floor of the cafe was literally filthy - we crunched through a carpet of muck and crumbs to rest with my elderly in-laws on some very tatty furniture and had coffees at London prices.2 stars feels like a stretch. But I respect and appreciate the efforts to provide a tourist attraction and guess it mostly caters to foreign tourists who are entertained by ‘Britishness’.Recommendation for improvements:1) Explain more about the original building, it’s purpose and location relevance2) create a ‘York through the ages’ exhibit or similar that shows authentic artifacts and teach visitors more about the historic and cultural significance of the city3) offer a day pass only at reduced price for one-time visitors
PupRiku: My favourite place in York. A museum so filled with things to learn, see and do I can hardly believe it isn't jam packed with guests all day every day. This was my second visit and it was as good as the first. There are so many various exhibits to view, the main draw being the unbelievable Victorian streets that have been built within. It's like being instantly transported back in time, they call it a "street" but there are back alleys, extra buildings and all sorts of nooks and crannies to explore it's more like a town centre all nestled safe and dry inside the main museum and dark to allow for more immersion. The other offerings include original prison cells, a 60s mini-street, a huge multi-room WW1 exhibit and a history of chocolate.Easy to spend 2+ hours here if not a whole day seeing everything. There's also a mill house and some beautiful gardens outside.Great for families and adult groups; there's really something for everyone.Be sure to book online for a discounted entry price; it's worth every penny.
Danny Dixon: Staff were super friendly and informative. Lots of visual history. Really worth visiting, probably the best value museum in york. Very well put together and captured the aesthetics perfectly.
Kris V: Highlight of the trip.Loads to see and do.Absolutely going backVisited on Weekday Wait time No wait Reservation recommended Not sure …More

Enrique Grace: It' s an amazing place, even if you are not a fan of trains, you will be fascinated.
Nikki Jackson: Lovely place. However I went many years ago where it was totally different and you could go inside the trains! You can't now which was really disappointing.Visited on Weekday Wait time No wait Reservation recommended Yes …More
Paul Bell: Free entry but note it will cost £10 to park in there carpark. The trains are impressive, gives you an appreciation of sheer scale of them, so many beautiful working scale models too, shame really there’s so many models in crates where there not displayed due to lack of space. You’ll enjoy it here regardless of wether you like rail stock or not. Enjoy your visit.
James Beckwith: Tried to visit this museum at Easter only to find that you now have to book a time slot to visit and that there are only a small of walk in places available... I think that this a poor state of affairs for a National museum that you always used to be able to visit on whim and now you have to book a time slot to visit and even then you are not guaranteed to be able to get in.I know this is maybe not the place for this but I find it a diabolical liberty that even though they are national museum they are being allowed to close a main road and build across it especially with all the railway land that is lying derelict right next to it.Enjoyable place to spend a few hours looking at the history of Britain's Railways plus some exhibits from the continent

eli: review for autistic people or those caring for autistic people : very sensory friendly, warm lighting, not too busy (we went at 4pm just as it was closing), small room with the model railway in was nice and closed off, extensive information on all the trains, there are posted warnings for loud noise such as the whistle noise for one of the trains and the fact that construction was taking place when we went which shows they care, open area for the cafe and gift shop, easy to navigate the exits

From the moment I walked through the doors, I was transported back in time to the 15th century and immersed in the history and culture of York. The attention to detail in the reconstruction of the hall is truly remarkable, and it was fascinating to learn about the lives of the people who lived and worked there centuries ago. The exhibits were informative and engaging, with interactive displays that allowed me to explore and learn at my own pace. The staff were also incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, eager to answer any questions and share their enthusiasm for the history of York. They provided an excellent guided tour, which brought the history of the hall to life and gave me a deeper appreciation for the space.Overall, I cannot recommend Barley Hall highly enough. It's a must-visit for anyone interested in the history and culture of York, and the attention to detail and excellent staff make it a truly unforgettable experience.
