John Grant: My go to fish restaurant on our twice yearly visits to York from Scotland. Varied menu excellently cooked and reasonably priced.I just wish they would do draught beer being owned by Greene King, though this does not detract from my liking of this restaurant.The staff are attentive, polite and very courteous.

Rachel Taylor-Phillips: I came here with my husband on our joint birthday. We had an excellent time with amazing food, my husband thinks it's his top meal ever. I am dairy intolerant and pregnant and I made the staff aware ahead of time that I might need some changes to dishes. They were so helpful and cooked me amazing dishes, even making me a dairy-free dessert which is nearly impossible to find in restaurants. It was the best experience for us, cannot recommend it enough!Dietary restrictions: Dairy-free very well catered for

I didn't know what to expect when I got to the restaurant but I just enjoyed the most fantastic ,exquisite and perfectly executed meal that I had in a few years. Erica Van-Minnen: We visited last night for my partners birthday meal and the service and food we received was exceptional. From the get go the quiet and quaint atmosphere was so relaxed, non stuffy and welcoming to people from all walks of life, and the two lovely ladies serving simply could not do enough for us. The complimentary glasses of fizz for the occasion was a surprising, and very lovely touch!The food was absolutely out of this world, our particular favourites were the Venison main and the carrot cake dessert- sublime!Could not fault this place at all- we shall be returning!

Emily Evison: Wonderful very unassuming little place with fantastic service and incredible food. 10/10 experience. We will be back and we were advising people passing us as we left to do the same! Even in the winter time, the little booths in the covered garden area were super cozy and warmed so don't discount these tables either. This place was excellent as a family meal location and would also be perfect for special occasions.
Munaib N. Chowdhury: Absolutely brilliant. Staff were friendly, attentive and incredibly knowledgeable about the menu. Food was amazing. Brilliantly presented with fantastic flavours. Atmosphere was lovely, very cosy with good music and good space, neither too loud or too quiet. Priced very reasonably for what you get. Will definitely return when next in town.

Paul S: Please update your Opening/Closing Times on Google to the correct Opening Hours. On Monday I got there at 16:40 and you were not Open until 17:00 and according to Google you are Open from 11:30am to 8pm. Luckily I was visiting the Post Office next door so didn't really go much out of my way but my Family missed out on their Tea they were expecting me to bring home.Great little local chippy which I use occasionally with friendly service. I went in around 30 minutes before closing time and the man de Chef kindly cooked us up a battered jumbo and they have scraps too

Andrew Overton: Not sure what the bad reviews are about as I have used this chippy several times when in York and the food is always good with good portions. Often have a chip butty with peas - now you might think, what can go wrong with something like that? Trust me - plenty. The bap is always soft and fresh, the chips are well cooked, not greasy, tasty and plenty of them, and the peas are really nice. I have had fish and chips occasionally and they're also lovely. Wouldn't go anywhere else, a lovely traditional chippy.

Alex Harris: Not often I’m lost for words……But the best fish and chips I’ve had for years. Thick fresh fish in the perfect batter, chips are spot on. Can’t recommend enough, and I like that they only open 3 days. Just shows you they are doing it right. Superb!

It was massive in comparison to other so called large fish I've had recently. The batter was light and crispy and it was cooked to order by the very pleasant owner. The portion of chips was generous, I'm glad I only ordered small.Top quality fish and chips, very tasty, will be back soon.

Mista T: Booked a table here during our visit to York.The restaurant is pretty funky inside and the staff were polite, friendly and attentive.The adult meals were absolutely fantastic, genuinely fresh, tasty grub! The rosemary fries were awesome!We took advantage of the "Kids eat free" promotion. While the fish goujons were great, the burger was pretty disappointing. I know it was free, but it was pretty overcooked and dry. The wee fella ended up just eating some of the bun and chips. Didn't want to make an issue as it was free, but maybe one to avoid on the kids menu if visiting. The dessert more than made up for it though, with both kids demolishing the delicious ice cream!All in all, it was a very pleasant meal out at averyvreasonable price. Would highly recommend!Kid-friendliness: The kids eat free promotion was a nice addition!
Laura Morgan-Watson: Have been a big lover of Bill’s since I first went to one in 2014, sadly the quality of food has slightly gone down since then but on this occasion I really enjoyed my food. I had the ‘nduja & burrata meatballs…they were delicious and I also had a Rosè spritz which was refreshing and not too bitter. The other diners I was with had mixed reviews…chicken burger a little dry and the beef burger not as good as previous times. I cannot fault the service though and I also like the option of splitting the bill when you scan the QR code. Overall, 4* as I enjoyed my food and it was a nice lunch 😊

Had the vegan “dirty” burger which was honestly one of the best burgers I’ve had and the kids loved their food. My 6 year old said that he rated it “infinity out of infinity” which says it all really.Vegetarian options: Dirty vegan burger and a few other really good vegan/vegetarian options

Kathy Evans: , the Kennedys team were incredible at helping to pre-plan arrangements and on the night, the team made it a night to remember. The bar staff provided a seamless service, the canopes served were amazing and so many guests feedback on how good the food was. If you want to hold a party and create the most perfect memories then Kennedys can offer it all.
Will Stead: Had a lovely night out. The food was fantastic. By far the best part was the service. Lewis did a fantastic job with ordering our mains and drinks, he was exceptionally polite, friendly, and patient. We were seated and ordered our deserts with Emily who was equally excellent, we were happy to pay the service charge because of how great they were. Give them both a raise!!
