YHA York Hostel: what do users think?

Nicolas Owen: Nice modern YHA, close to the centre of York. Very good facilities, although the members kitchen is much too small considering the size of the hostel. Food is reasonable but not as inexpensive as it used to be, didn't compare with York centre itself. Lovely big lounge, dining area.Nearby activities: You are very close to York!Walkability: 15-20 minutes from the walls of York, via a lovely riverside path.Food & drinks: Food is reasonable but not as cheap as it used to be. Main meals from £9-15, Breakfast £9.95

Vimala D: This is the first time I booked a YHA hostel with a couple of doubles in mind but the hostel was so good, clean and the staff are so friendly.I booked a hostel for 4 people , we got 1 room with 4 bunk beds, The beds are so clean with fresh sheets, The room is very clean. We had a shared washroom and it was clean all the time, there were plenty of washrooms. The kitchen is clean and there are plenty of plates and utensils to cook. Big living room to relax. I highly recommend visiting YHA York hostel you won't regret it. Reasonable prices are a bonus on top. It's walking distance to town, we parked the couple at the hostel and we walked to the town, so not to get worried about parking at the busy town centre.

helen lomas: Great value stay. Clean, well organised, everything you'd need, except a suggestion box 😉 I stayed in the dorm room and being honest, it was one of the worst nights sleep ever. The doors are heavy and loud, the floorboards are extremely loud and creaky and the pipes were noisy too. Also because of the material on the beds , you can hear every turn and roll someone makes. I will probably look at a private room next time. I used the self catering kitchen which was lovely and clean. I also ordered food, vegan chilli, and although very tasty, the portion was incredibly small for a whopping £10! Staff were lovely though and I will continue to support the charity and revisit.

Joel Wylie: Stayed before Christmas with my partner and it was brilliant!Incredible staff who were very welcoming, helpful and cheerful. The hostel was immaculate from the room to the shared spaces. The location a lovely walk into town by the river, past the shops or a very short bus ride.Shout out to the amazing team who made our stay wonderful!

Bren Jenks: Love this cafe.Service: 5/5 …

Vikings Accommodation: what do users think?

Kez Fuz: and on a quiet side street with parking that is only £5 a day just outside the property. The gentlemen who showed us in gave us lots of advice on what to do/see in York and kindly told us that we can use the kitchen downstairs in the lobby to store drinks/food if we needed to. The room was the top floor one which had 2 skylights and a well fitted en-suite bathroom 🚽. 2 nights cost £137 which was very reasonable. We would definitely come again!

Jen Duffy: The hosts gave us such a warm welcome , showed us an easier way to get to the train station for way home , carried our bags upstairs to our room ,wished us an happy anniversary, and even gave gave us a card ,our room was cozy and warm and they asked if we had everything we needed ,the provided a cot for our baby and was really sweet with him every time they saw him ,in this hotel you are welcome to buy food and cook it and gas a lovely area to rest or eat ,I would definitely stay again we had a lovely stay

Boof Edge: I stayed there on Sunday for 2 nights, for my birthday. What an excellent, enjoyable stay we had. Moss was there on our arrival, it was around 20:00, and was very friendly and attentive from the start, there doesn't seem anything that he won't do to make your stay a great one.He gave us a map and took time to show us where to go and how to get there and a few places that we were on about going.Could not fault our room, Vikings Accommodation is an absolute gem of a place. 5 minutes walk from the town, with a few nice pubs and shops on the way. Will definitely be staying there again, hopefully in March.Thank you Moss👍👍👍👍

Marion Polhill: Host is pleasant and accomodation was warm, inviting, clean and tidy. Room was lovely. Also great location for visiting the Shambles and York Minster.Rooms: My daughter and I were allowed to bring our two Chihuahuas. Everything was considered for the needs of guests.

Mary Kivlin: was so comfortable and spacious, a home away from home, so peaceful too. Both of us slept brilliantly, mind you the miles of walking we did each day helped with that. Coffee and tea facilities in room are excellent, little biscuits and chocolate too. Bathroom was fab and had everything we needed. Highly recommend as so central for going everywhere. Thanks so much for a perfect stay

Franklin House: what do users think?

Gladys Coleman: It was nice, very clean and cosy!

Frances Toms: . The en-suite wet room let it down. There is not enough space if you pull the shower curtain across

Robert Leeke: Great "student accomodation" when on a course at the STEM centre.

Chris: Located just behind stem centre good size room fit for purpose

Nigel: Great value, very clean accommodation. Everything you would expect, coffee tea making facilities. Ensuite shower room. Car parking near by but a bit of a walk around to the building entrance. Reception a short drive away to collect key card. Would recommend. Short bus ride into the city.

Ravano Hong: Simple clean student's room with TV and private shower in a nice campus. Comfortable bedding, bed and towels, very clean. Small shower with curtain didn't feel easy when curtain is always stick to my back. At around 5am a group of people/students came back from disco, could hardly sleep with doors banging. As I only stayed one night on Saturday, maybe weekdays would be much peaceful and quiet.

Iain Downie: Good location, and the rooms are just like mini Premier Inn rooms.

Ceri Lawrence: Cosy, clean room with a very comfortable bed. The breakfast options are a little lacking if you have dietary requirements but still good food too. The porters are extremely helpful and things are well sign posted.

Hotel du Vin York: what do users think?

Ade Ball: criticism was the shortage of sockets in sensible places, but that is easy to rectify. We can't comment on the food as we didn't eat there but the reception and bar staff were all great.Loved the idea of the optional voucher in exchange for omitting room servicing. Many hotels pay lip service to this concept

Jo Normanshire: Lovely location, quiet but close to centre. We had a Glorious Getaway deal which was great value. Gorgeous room and excellent food. We would definitely recommend and return! Only issues in room were leaking sink and lacklustre shower. Breakfast was a little disappointing as some items ran out and were not replenished. We mentioned these issues at checkout but no real response. Dus not spoil the visit though, we loved it and will come back soon!

Kate Hanson: ✔️~ 10 min walk from train station✔️Giant bathtub ✔️Giant couch ✔️Giant shower ✔️Suitable for those with low mobility/wheelchair uses

David Nesbitt: Fantastic hotel to stay at while travelling on business. The room was spacious and exceptionally clean, all the staff I encountered were lovely and professional, especially the rather classy and elegant manager / supervisor lady. The food was extremely high quality in a really lovely eating area / atmosphere. The best option for York business travel.

Elmbank Hotel: what do users think?

Lee Cooper: Had a fantastic one night stay at Elmbank and I can confirm, we will 100% be staying here again. The hotel is well located, not far from the racecourse and literally a five minute drive into the town centre. The hotel looks nice from the outside, but is beautiful on the inside. All areas have traditional wooden panelling on the walls with original and authentic windows and decorative features. After checking in we were given our room key and advised where to go to find our room, please be advised there is no lift at this hotel, so be mindful of this if you are thinking of booking in.Our room was gorgeous, light, airy, well decorated and very, very comfortable. Our room had a safe, hairdryer, TV, tea/coffee making facilities and a Nespresso type machine. This is an upgraded room though, but the extra cost was certainly worth it.We also added an evening meal and breakfast to our booking and again, the cost was well worth it because the food was excellent. The evening meal can be selected from a “wine and dine” menu where you can select a couple of steak meals, a grilled chicken meal and a salmon dish. You select a sauce, two sides and a bottle of wine, all were superb in my opinion. For breakfast, there is a continental buffet style area, but there is also a cooked to order breakfast as well, where you can select from a full English and other options, again, all the food was lovely. There is a bar area as well where you can go to enjoy a drink or two. This area is quite small though, probably enough seating for about ten people, then about six bar stools, so if busy, I could imagine it getting very cramped, but it shouldn’t take away from the overall appeal of this place. The dining area is also quite small, but you book your eating time so finding a table to eat is not an issue. When we had breakfast though, people had to wait for a table due to all tables being full, think this was due to people taking longer to finish their breakfasts though, but maybe spreading out seating times may resolve this, or have a longer breakfast period because here it ends at 9.45am.Please also note, there is very limited parking available here, so if you are thinking of driving here, be prepared that you may need to park a bit away and walk a bit. These are tiny little niggles though and as stated, takes nothing away from this great hotel.Every single member of staff we interacted with during our stay were lovely, super happy, friendly, polite, professional and nothing was too much trouble, a true credit indeed. If you are thinking of visiting York, I can’t recommend staying at Elmbank enough.

jeffrey orrell: As we had previously been here 3 years ago we decided to book again for a few days away, first of all the hotel is a great place to explore York with a short 10-15 minutes stroll to the shops, however parking is a issue, only a precious few free spaces are available, there is parking nearby in a school which costs approximately 1.50 per hour... overnight stay will cost you 12.50..., anyway once parked up you can leave it happily and go off exploring, we stayed in a classic room, it was tidy and seemed well maintained, bathroom was clean and had a lovely full shower cubicle, king size bed was nice and soft, in the room there's also a ironing board and iron, hairdryer and big TV, so everything you need really, we also paid extra for breakfast, well worth the extra money, plenty of choice from a cooked breakfast to Danish pastries, so yes very good trip, enjoyed our stay and would recommend to anyone wanting a bolt hole to explore the city

Thea Handley: Lovely hotelTasteful classy decorSuper friendly pleasant and helpful staffLots of attention to detailRooms: Impressive bathroomsComfortable bedsWarm comfortable roomsWith all needed for a good time awayFood & drinks: Breakfast very impressiveQuality ingredients with good servicePoached eggs are perfectly cookedGood selection of breakfast choices

David Corbett: , lovely bathroom with an amazing shower and extremely comfortable bed. Bar off the lobby is very comfortable and prices were more than reasonable. We shall definitely be revisiting for another stay soon.Walkability: Short 20min walk into the center of town

Sam Gormley: were great and all freshly cooked - you can choose from full Englishes, eggs Benedict etc as well as a continental selection.Throughout our stay, we were really impressed by how attentive and thorough the staff were, and when we asked about restaurants in town we got some fantastic recommendations from the team.We highly recommend this B&B right in the middle of old York. Thank you for a great stay!

Emily Bowman: Booked a table for drinks for a big party of 17 for an hour and a half, Judges lodgings were more than happy to help over email for this request.Food & drinks: Very nice cocktails done to a high standard!

TheMayze: Excellent all round. Definitely recommend and will be back.Rooms: AmazingNearby activities: York city centre

Holiday Inn York City Centre, an IHG Hotel: what do users think?

Mark Palmer: . Like a lot of Holiday Inns the decor is a bit dated although the rooms are more than adequate. Food is pricy and certainly suffered from shrinkflation and I’d recommend eating in the city for cheaper more wide range. Parking is generally okay although I have sometimes struggled for a space on busy weekends i.e. when the races are on, better monitoring of the parking entry system might be advised to the hotel. Staff are always very friendly.

Nick Allcock: Hotel on the edge of the city - 10/15 minute walk to the centre. Plenty of hotels in this area. Wetherspoons is opposite alongside a Travelodge. Rooms are comfortable and well maintained, but views are not a feature. Service is good. This hotel is good for a city break in York or a business trip. It is not glamorous or pretty but a serviceable and comfortable hotel.

Fiona Meybirn: but booked room was supposed to be twin beds and was set up as a double, so had to get that resolved.Bathroom door was very difficult to open due to issue with handle. No extra cushions on sofa etc. Only 1 chair. Extremely small wardrobe

Denise Allen: Fantastic room, staff amazingRooms: BrilliantNearby activities: FabWalkability: Good

Dean Court York: what do users think?

Joda: My husband and I loved our 3 night stay here. The room was very clean and spacious and had a fab view of the cathedral. All staff were very friendly and helpful at all times. The food was just amazing. Breakfast had a great selection of food to help yourself and can also order hot food such as a full English or bacon and egg sandwich plus lots more to choose from.Light bits menu up till 5pm then can choose off the bigger menu.Great relaxing atmosphere with lovely comfy seats after eating which was a nice place to chill. This hotel is in a fantastic location as we walked literally out the door to the cathedral and then to the amazing shops and museums. So much so see and do and after a day of walking 18,000steps we looked forward to chilling with a cold shandy before having something to eat.Even though it was right in the centre it was quiet when in your room and didn’t hear anything outside.

Alan Brier: Frank, the porter is the only person you as a guide to York the rest of the staff are very welcomingNearby activities: Next door too the minster and a land train to the train museum

Abbie Kissane: Amazing location for a stay in York. Staff are a credit to the hotel and very helpful. Rooms are spotless. We were on the top floor so the room was initially quite hot but it had a Dyson fan which was perfect. Very comfortable bed. Can’t fault the place. Valet parking available, we checked in early and picked the car up late the next day. £25 per day. Breakfast was tasty and made fresh

alex bannister: Realy nice hotel, fantastic location! Breakfast was included in the price and was great choice available loved the eggs benedict staff were very attentive and polite. The hotel offers valet parking 25.00 per night this was quite cheap in comparrison to some of the secure car parks in york city.Walkability: Fabulous location
