Our aim is to help owners and their dogs to enjoy learning together and developing a variety of skills. We promote positive, reward -based training, in a relaxed and happy environment, and teach owners the skills they need to train their dogs to become well behaved family pets. Our Trainers have experience with a wide variety of breeds and cross breeds.

In 1971 York City Dog Training Club was registered with the Kennel Club and became involved with its Good Citizen Award Scheme at its launch in 1993. This Scheme offers Bronze, Silver and Gold Awards.

We also offer our own YCDTC Progress Award Scheme with Levels 1 to 4

Ruth was absolutely fantastic! We decided to look into getting some training sessions for Ollie, our 7month old Golden Irish puppy to work on jumping up, walking on the lead and recall.

We were a bit apprehensive as we were worried we would be made to feel like we had been training him wrong however it was the complete opposite. Ruth was lovely, calm and very professional. She really put us at ease and went through each training step in a way that was easy to follow and was very patient when we were practicing. She uses a correction and reward technique that really works!

Cultured Canine Dog Training began in 2018, offering Puppy and group classes, 1-2-1 behaviour work & dog walking. Since then, the business has grown exponentially until we were running 9 group classes per week from puppy to advanced and individual private sessions throughout the week. Cultured Canine Dog Training was created with an emphasis on training being fun for both dog and human. Our family friendly classes allow the whole family to get involved and feel at ease to ask questions and advice throughout. Private sessions allow tailoring of training and behaviour work in a completely non-judgemental, reward based way. We use the most up-to-date theory and methods to deliver all of our training with reqular CPD to keep us up to date.
