The lady seen that my daughter had fallen over outside and was quite wet and muddy and obviously upset. The lady took us into the store and cleaned her up then gave her some fragrances. Sue Stamp: My daughter and I visited the store to look for shoes to match a Hobbs outfit I had bought for her wedding. The two ladies working in the store were just lovely and gave the most fantastic customer service. They were charming, nothing was too much trouble for them and there was no pressure to buy - just genuine warmth and enthusiasm. They both shared our pleasure in finding exactly what we wanted - we left with the perfect shoes and are already planning our next visit

I am so pleased to have shopped with this company, while on holiday in York, and despite me living a distance away, they could not have been more helpful when I needed to exchange an item.In March this year, my partner and I each purchased Barbour wax jackets. The assistant was so knowledgeable and helpful, guiding us on choosing which style to buy. Despite this, I changed my mind on returning home from holiday and decided that the jacket I had chosen would be too big and heavy for regular use. In fact, the style chosen by my partner was far better suited to my needs, as well.Four months after making my initial purchase, I emailed Smarts with fingers crossed that they could help me. I received such a reassuring and positive response from Emma Smart, shortly afterwards. I returned the jacket by post, despite the considerable time delay since buying it, and received a jacket I am much happier with. The shop assistant on the phone kept me informed of my return and exchange. He also sent me a tin of wax to cover the price difference between the jackets, which I was delighted to receive.Buying a Barbour jacket was a considered purchase and investment. However, Smarts of York demonstrated such excellent customer service throughout, that I am so thankful to have found them, rather buying the jacket online. By their actions, they show they care about the customer being happy with their purchase and the service I received was so personal, at every stage. Traditional values that are rare to find these days.Once again, I would recommend Smarts Of York wholeheartedly. I look forward to returning there in the future, when next in York.

Donna Cann: We visited York October half term 2022 from Devon.We paid a visit to smarts of York when in the city for the day and purchased a leather wallet and some socks. The servicethen was exemplary.The wallet recently became faulty and I contacted smarts. I admit I didn't have my receipt so wasn't sure what could be done. Within a couple of hours Ashley had arranged and posted a replacement wallet to be sent recorded signed for delivery so I would receive it 9 24 hours. This is amazing service and not once did I get any objection. Having been a retail manager for almost 30 years this is what retailers should be doing all over the UK. Going above and beyond wherever possible. Thank you Ashley

Warren Goodwill: We buy straw, hay & wood shavings from here in bales as it is a lot cheaper and more cost efficient than buying it from pet shops in small bags that cost up to £4.99 each. I would happily go here and pay for a bale that cost about £8.00 for hay and straw each & £8.29 for a bale of wood shavings.
Stephen Sunley: Great place for all your pet food needs, does do some accessories as well but mainly food, large equestrian section including food, blankets, grooming even mucking out. If you have more unusual pets: chickens, ducks, pigeons, goats, pigs etc. This is the best place to go i have found in York as they have specific food and much of it is there own brand so competitively priced and always in stock. Also has bales of hay/ straw - far better value than buying little bags of it. Staff seem friendly and I'm sure would know the answer if you had questions about the product.Only criticism is some items seemed to be missing prices when I went or not very clear signage I asked a couple of prices and the staff knew them I just know some people would be put off as they don't like having to ask.Also open 7 days a week.
