Molly Johnson: For a Monday we really enjoyed this, it didn’t matter that it wasn't busy. Leera was our server and she was so attentive and brought our drinks and even asked us if we wanted more drinks before we had finished. The round brought out just before paying was amazing and a good value for money. I would definitely recommend as we felt very accommodated.Vegetarian options: Great vegetarian options and very flexible for changes and additions
Luke F: We celebrated our 50th birthdays this weekend and certainly had the VIP treatment from the staff. Special mention for Caitlin from my old neck of the woods, Liv and Finn who looked after us and kept us flowing with gorgeous drinks. Food was amazing too and such good value for money! Made our special day extra special and they’re a credit to the Slug and Lettuce brand!!

Deever: Our waiter Finn was absolutely incredible, attentive, charismatic & just a fab waiter. He looked after my mums table as it was her surprise 50th with ease. He dealt with allergies & dietary requirements amazingly. Drinks were amazing, food was fab. If you need a table in York this is the place to go. Get Finn to be your waiter. Thank you so much to everyone that contributed to my mums table she had the best time. We cannot wait to get back. David Marshall: Early evening weekday meal during Easter break. As tourists to York we weren't sure whether a reservation was required, but we were able to get a 6pm table without any fuss.The kids menu was generous, certainly enough for our 10 and 12 year old boys.Cocktails were very nice and the food was tasty. We had the sharing kebab which was great and just about the right size.Only complaint was the speed. Given the place was probably three quarters full, the length of time between ordering and receiving the main courses was a little over an hour, which felt a long wait.
Kylie Smith: Absolutely love this place! Go with the girls for cocktails and nibble and with the husband for the hanging kebabs! Delicious!Kid-friendliness: I’ve taken my daughter here for lunch and it’s child friendly for all ages.

James White: Visiting York for the weekend with the missus and called in this place for a couple of drinks and a bite to eat. Cocktails were so good im actually concentrating to write this properly. 🤣🤣🤣 Food was excellent my wife is a vegetarian so sometimes difficult to find a menu to suit us both. Service was as good as the food. Was served by a young man from Manchester. Kaiden, was both funny and friendly. Whole visit was thoroughly enjoyable. Well worth a visit whilst in the city.

Victoria Brown: Amazing bar! Fabulous selection of strong cocktails, great friendly staff and a really unique, laid back vibe. Rich Deerdog: This is the bar at The Principal Hotel in York; which is the big old hotel next to the train station.Not your average station hotel, this place has atmosphere. Must have been properly luxury in its day, with many period features. Still nice now.Bar itself can be accessed from hotel or from outside. Good range of seats inside. Leather chairs are best.The beer, on this occasion, was Mahou. Decent lager; previously only seen in Manchester.Small food menu. Scotch egg.Nice place for a pint. Well done.
VILHAS DUSSANI: The people were very nice and the food was outstanding. The music was amazing. I just love this restaurant.Vegetarian options: There were a few vegan options. The one did I take took what is the hummus and it was outstanding.

Paul Suggitt - Film Director: Having had a business meeting in the Principal Hotel this morning, this afternoon was spent filming, and the backdrop for the filming was chosen to be in Chapter House, given it's great alcoves and general layout.Sam, the duty manager of the bar was very accommodating while we were filming and even helped us out.10 out of 10 for the staff service in there today.For those wanting a drink, the bar is extremely well stocked and the prices are quite fair too, which in today's economic climate is a total bonus.Recommended!

So it will be easy for those using wheelchair to access the downstairs restaurant.
Phoenixpooh: and very well prepared. Some cocktails are available at 2 for £9.50. I would definitely visit again when next in York and would recommend that you visit as well. Reservations available.
Cycle Sid: and a service charge had been added. I had to ask the server if the total already included a service charge at payment. Don’t get me wrong, I would not begrudge the staff their tip as the service was quick, friendly and polite and up to the same high standard as the food, but it would be nice to have the bill checked or explained prior to making payment.In conclusion, we will eat here every time we are in York, I would even go so far as to say we might even make a trip to York just to go to 1331!
Groanz: Like all the hospitality businesses in the UK, they seemed very understaffed. However, the waitress was amazing. She was sweet, got us seated right away and thought with us about a possible other table that would be better for us. Drinks and food came fast and the atmosphere was good. Food was typical comfort food and the portion size was very big. Loved the place and we would definitely visit again when we're in York.

Joseph Newman: bar with ‘wine flights’ and ‘gin flights’ available on a walk in basis, and special ‘experiences’ upon booking too. They have some really great good boards too, which are quite filling and a good portion. The value is a bit hit as miss, but the venue is exhaustive and has all the prices on. Service is great. They don’t accept Amex just FYI. Definitely recommend a visit here.
SR: We booked here on a personal recommendation for our weekend away in York and definitely weren't disappointed. We shared the Deli board for 2. I'm really not a wine drinker but I wasn't made to feel silly for not liking wine, or subjected to "oh but you MUST try this one I KNOW you're going to like it" as I sometimes am in other places! The deli board was gorgeous and great quality, and we were stuffed afterwards.The service was really friendly and prompt. We were sat at a little bench/bar seat, and my only criticism is that I didn't feel this was really big enough for the 4 people that were sat at it, we felt squished in by the other party of 2.Otherwise a fab experience, maybe our favourite food from the whole weekend!

Ordering four types of wine, cheese, a pork pie and dessert.The atmosphere is buzzy and lovely. Staff were knowledgeable and welcoming.I’d recommend asking for a table near the front of the restaurant as the back is windowless and without natural light.
