It was during a successful career in film & TV that my health started to take a downturn. The pressure of working all hours and putting good nutrition on the back seat lead to me suffering digestive issues, burnout, hormone imbalances, fatigue & depression. Yes my career was thriving, but my body was trying to tell me otherwise. When life took a different turn I embarked on a new path. A path to achieving optimal wellness, and with the goal to help others do the same.

After studying biomedicine and nutrition for 3 years, I started practising and helping clients feel their very best selves. 4worldlovers: All of that time was spent working within a well known company specialising in Nutritional Medicine along with two highly respected doctors from England and Scotland.

4worldlovers: I was recommended this test by a friend who said it had completely opened their eyes to their own intolerance and completely changed their health. I was getting awful bloating and pains and couldn't pin down the exact cause myself (I tried going gluten free to see if it made a difference but since this is such a massive life overhaul, I wanted to be sure I actually had to!!). I ordered the York test, it arrived within literally 2 days and I couldn't be more excited. I immediately went into a spare office at work to complete the test because I couldn't wait to get it back in the post. I've had a finger pr1ck before and it was painful so I was nervous. Turns out, technologies have advanced since then and I didn't find this pr1ck painful at all, just a shock as it happens so fast but it didn't hurt me. The kit completely explained the process and it was easy.

I got my results about 5 days later (again I was DESPERATE for them to arrive), and it turns out I have a yeast intolerance which means going gluten free would not have solved my issues, and there's no way I would have arrived at 'yeast' by myself. I arranged a call with the nutritionist who was super pleasant, she gave me a long (looonnngg) list of everything that has yeast in to avoid, it's a lot more things than you think! And also answered all the questions I had. She was very knowledgeable and I felt confident in her information. I have had a call back from York test since then as a follow up but I didn't respond seen as I didn't start the exemption diet until the new year so had nothing to say yet, but this is an excellent after care service.

I have almost entirely cut yeast out from my diet, and I no longer have the extremely painful bloating I had before. My face skin is clearer, and more than anything I just feel armed with the information I need about my body. If I just absolutely MUST eat a donut (it happens), at least I can consciously make the decision knowing what the effects will be, and 99% of the time, I don't do it. Without the confirmation from the test I wouldn't have this information and would find it harder to be rigid with the diet because it's all guess work anyway.

I'm so glad I did this and I hope that next month I can start reintroducing yeast into my diet and I don't have the negative effects like before.
