Dr Fiona Lattimer and Dr Robert Caswell started Ebor Psychology Service in response to requests from families and schools for timely, child-centred and responsive support for children who have emotional and psychological needs. They have extensive experience of working with children, young people and their families with a range of emotional and behavioural difficulties. They have both worked in the NHS, voluntary and private sector for over 15 years in a variety of settings including schools, Child and Adolescent Mental Health services (CAMHS), children's hospitals and specialist assessment units.

As a Clinical Psychologists, Dr Lattimer and Dr Caswell are trained in a variety of psychological approaches including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), solution focused approaches, interpersonal therapy (IPT), behaviour therapy and systemic approaches. They adopt an integrative, collaborative approach which means they draw on elements from more than one therapeutic model chosen to suit the individual needs of the client. They recognise the importance of developing positive therapeutic relationships with children, their families and professionals, working closely with them to achieve the client's goals for change.

Dr Lattimer and Dr Caswell are registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) which is requirement for all Practitioner Psychologists in the UK. In addition, Dr Lattimer is also a Chartered Clinical Psychologist with The British Psychological Society.

They are Approved Providers with several health insurance companies (including BUPA, Aviva, AXA PPP and WPA) so assessments and therapeutic work may be covered by clients' insurance policies.

As required, the service draws upon the skills other health professionals to assist in delivering joint assessments, interventions and training. They have close links with a local Consultant Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist and allied health professionals (including Speech and Language Therapists and Mental Health Nurses) should a multi-disciplinary approach be needed.

Ebor Psychology Service is able to offer a wide range of services and therapeutic work for a number of psychological issues.

The service offers comprehensive assessment of a range of emotional, behavioural and mental health difficulties including anxiety, eating difficulties, low mood, obsessive compulsive difficulties, attachment issues, adjustment to physical health problems and loss/bereavement. Also we can screen and assess for Autistic Spectrum Conditions (ASC) and Attention and Hyperactivity problems.

Following assessment, the clinician and client develop a shared understanding of the difficulties and devise an individual intervention plan to help the client work towards their goals. Therapeutic work that is undertaken is continually monitored to ensure that the client is gaining their desired benefits from sessions. The number of session with clients is flexible depending on the their needs and the type of issues being addressed. However, typically following one or two assessment sessions, therapy will last for four to ten sessions. Each session lasts approximately 50 minutes.

The service has extensive experience of offering consultation to individuals and teams from Education, Social Care, Youth Justice and Medical services. Consultation focuses on helping professionals consider how they can best meet the emotional and psychological needs of the children and young people they work with.

We can provide teaching and training on a wide range of mental health problems and therapeutic techniques. Training can be tailored to suit your requirements with regards to style, content, level of participant experience and length.

Dr Lattimer and Dr Caswell have undertaken further training in supervision skills and have experience of offering clinical supervision to Clinical Psychologists and other mental health professionals.

The service offers comprehensive assessments for children with neurodevelopmental conditions such as Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).

These assessments are multi-disciplinary and informed by current NICE guidance. It would typically involve:

ADOS-2 assessment with the young person (with a Clinical Child Psychologist and another trained clinician)

Review of professional reports (e.g. Educational Psychology, school, previous assessments, etc.)
