York Cocoa House: what do users think?

John Crabtree: Very nice place, young ones went to make some chocolate with some friends and they all loved it. My wife, while waiting had an orange hot chocolate and thought it was the best she had. All staff lovely and friendly

Becca Epstein: Best thing in York, no contest. We make sure to stop by every time we visit. The hot chocolates are outstanding. I normally prefer dark chocolate, but here even the white chocolate is mind-blowingly delicious. The specialty drinks like the chocolate shot are also worth a try. We did a chocolate bar making workshop as well where we learned about how chocolate is made and melted and moulded our own bars, definitely a highlight of our visit to York. They're great about allergens too with lots of vegan and gluten free options.

Maya Khan: Amazing micro chocolate factory. They are highly educated on things chocolate. They make the most amazing single origin chocolate. Great tasting chocolate, great experiences such as chocolate bar making and tour. very nice staff too.

Jeanette Hutchinson: Excellent arrangement of Easter 🐇🐣 treats 🍫 with fabulous hot drinks. Well worth a visit

Richard Bismark: Great experience. Friendly staff

John McLaughlin: Great service, hot chocolate and cakes were superb.

Patrick Lucas: Brilliant experience! 👍Definitely worth it.

Hawker Hurricane: I attended the Easter egg making workshop and like the previous workshops I’ve done here it was a lot of fun. This time though it was late starting due to the family that was also in the workshop arriving late. While I waited I was allowed to join the tour the shop also does at no extra charge which I appreciated. The woman running the workshop was friendly, very informative and offered advice when needed/asked for. My egg came out better than eggspected. The family that were also there were asked to leave for valid reasons. It’s reassuring the store takes health and safety seriously. While she dealt with the family another worker took over the workshop, as I was on my own that meant 1-1 session. He too had great advice particularly with piping and decorating the egg.Definitely worth doing the workshops. It’s the third one I’ve done with them and will definitely be doing more in the future.

nicola gladston: Bought a York pass and booked our slots through the link. Thoroughly enjoyed this experience. Very informative lovely guide answered all questions. Chocolate is divine and interesting to taste the difference between the cocoa beans. Very well done to the team and the company

Jordan O'Brien (xJordannnnn): Very friendly staff and excellent hot chocolate! Don’t make the mistake i did and order a 70% hot chocolate unless you like bitter hot chocolate! I should have asked staff about it before i ordered! Reordered something more suitable for me and it was amazing! Very cozy setting with comfortable seating, blankets and some books to read.

Marc Bishop: Excellent experience. Actually, make a chocolate bar. I've seen some reviews saying it's a bit pricey, but you make your own bar exactly to your taste and it was fun. Would recommend

Hollie Freeston: was absolutely fantastic. My tour was run by Jacob

Atif Maqsood: It was a great knowledge sharing experience about the process of making chocolate from the cocoa tree to the chocolate factory. Alongside it was the tasting session for chocolates from different parts of the world.

Vasiliy: We did a tour here last Friday and it was amazing! Learned a lot of new things about chocolate and got to try 6 different types of chocolate. This place changed my mind on how I look at dark chocolate and there is no coming back now. Definitely worth a try!

Joseph Gelder: I highly recommend the hot chocolate. I go every time I come to York. Staff are cool 💯

Ross Davidson: Great coffee and friendly staff. Worth a visit!

jolly g: Loved this place, great idea to make chocolate lollies we had a fab time. Staff very friendly and accommodating.

Monk Bar Chocolatiers: what do users think?

Emily W: amazing chocolate. Got an assortment of different chocolates, a few chocolate tools, some solid chocolate eggs, and the giant chocolate egg which was £49 but huge and really heavy. The chocolate is the best chocolate i’ve ever had. We also got some of the chocolate shots which for £3 were great as the you got a generous amount of melted chocolate in a chocolate cup!

Paul Young: Really nice unique chocolates that make great gifts. Service is always very good.

Alex Antonietti: Amazing chocolates, small shop and right next to the ghost figurine shop so very popular part of the Shambles, however didn't take that long to get in after queuing.Absolutely loved the chocolates and very reasonably priced for hand made edibles. The melted chocolate in a chocolate pot was so gooey, absolutely delicious.I would definitely visit York again just to go here, we said we wished we got a bigger truffle box because they don't deliver, so you have to visit York to get these, one thing to think about if you're thinking of going!

Joseph Dias: Absolutely delighted to be at this place. Went there on a Monday morning but it was closed on Monday. They are open Tuesday to Saturday.so came back on Tuesday morning.it was worth the wait. The handmade chocolate sweets were divine. More than 50 varieties to choose from. I had a mix of alcoholic and non alcoholic chocolates. Also the chocolate drink in a chocolate cup is a must have. absolutely delicious. The cup comes in dark, milk and white chocolate cups. It is located in the Shambles area of York. It is a must visit place in York.

Jayne Whale: We have always gone here to purchase beautiful chocolates since their first opening at Monk Bar. Pity they didn't keep both shops, this one is rather small and the queues along the Shambles merge with lots of other queues for other shops! Also I think they would benefit from opening more often, closed Sunday, Monday and Tuesday, they'd definitely profit from such a unique market. Delicious chocolates!

Maria Lifshits: Excellent chocolate shots

Gemma Bullen: We went here as we heard about the chocolate shots and wanted to try them. They were really good and worth the £2.50. The chocolate they sell looked amazing too.

Cocoa Joe's: what do users think?

Jennie MacFadyen: I won't buy chocolate anywhere else but here. The Peru chocolate drops make a smooth, rich creamy hot chocolate, not grainy like others I have tried. They are sold at a fair price. As for the cafe, I've pretty much tried all the hot chocolate on the board, they're all delicious though the Madagascan 100% cocoa was too much for me.

Shaun Feakins: I’m not exaggerating when I say this is #1 of all places I’ve visited ever in terms of what they offer in respect of their niche. Where else can you try dozens of chocolate origins to find the perfect hot chocolate?Everyone is so knowledgeable; the quality is unbelievable; the setup is welcoming; there are mocha and alcoholic options if you fancy; and you can even take some chocolate home if you want.I wish CJ’s had branches nationwide, but I make a beeline when I leave from York station straight here.

Jordan B: .The hot chocolate was so so good! We got a little brownie bite each too which were equally good, they look small but honestly, with the hot chocolate and how gooey and chocolatey the brownies are I don’t think anyone would need a massive one! 😄Not sure I’ve ever had a better hot chocolate now that I think about it. Definitely will be back on my next trip to York. ☕️
