Bob Cassidy: Stayed 3 nights in our Motorhome, located a short walk (about 15 mins) from the city centre. Very large and spacious pitches, the facilities (showers etc) are kept very clean, there is a small gate which leads you to a small shopping street which has everything you might need for your stay, although slightly on the expensive side, I would definitely recommend staying here.
Julian Gorman: Fantastic site, ideally located, great wardens. We will be back..
Elaine Austin: Our first stay at York Rowntree site. On arrival we were met with a lovely man who told us where we could park our motorhome IE what colour pitch markers we could choose. Then into reception we were met again by a lovely lady who told us all the details regarding the camp site toilet locks. Places to eat and drink locally and walking into York. We would highly recommend staying her. It's a lovely clean site big size pitches

Chowdene Camping and Caravan Site: what do users think?
Selwyn Campervan: Spent 2 nights here. Received a warm welcome from Catherine the owner on arrival. Lovely site in an excellent location. Level hardstanding pitches with electric hook up that were well spaced out. Single toilet and shower on site which was clean and adequate for the site. 10 minutes walk to Monks Cross park and ride and retail / leisure park. Some road noise but not too intrusive. Would definitely recommend.
Peter Wrightson: Campsite is a little basic, just one toilet and shower. But as the site only caters for 6 pitches it's not a problem. Easy walk to the centre of York, unfortunately along a main road. 5-10 mins the other way takes you to a retail estate with crazy golf and a cinema amongst other things. Location is key here.👍
Ruth Holmes: Happy. Used park and ride.Since we were last there, pitches are hard standing with ehu and price has risen acvordingly.Still only 1 combined shower and toilet but units usually have own facilities.Owner friendly and helpful....even in sub zero temps of last weekend.
Jason Perry: Just had a three night stay at chowdene caravan site lovely little site large level hardstanding pitches only half hour walk into York, booked our stay approximately 11mth in advance at £20 a night so was shocked when I found out it had gone up to £25 a night it would have been nice for the owner to inform me, also I was informed on arrival that we had to pay a £1 per night for the dog which there was no mention of this charge on her website, it wouldn't be so bad if the owner supplied doggy bags, there was no bags no doggy bins for there mess, all the extra charges that got me, for example 1 caravan, 1 awning, 1 dog and you both had a shower that would cost you best part of £30 a night, in all of 20 years caravaning we have never paid that price for a CL site, totally put us off staying again, pitty because it's a nice site
Steve Turner: Great little site, 10 minutes walk to park and ride shopping centre, buses direct to York city centre £3.50 return, nice level pitches, one shower and toilet on site aswell as waste and water
hamish hill: This is a club only campsite so be aware you will need to be part of the club and book ahead £21 per night inc power
John C: Great CL...25 min walk from Centre of York. Park and ride just round the corner , buses every 10 mins. A bit of road noise but pretty unnoticeable after a bit. Pitches were nice, flat and roomy. 20p showers last 3 mins..but clean and work well. Catherine, the owner, was very helpful. Will be returning.
Brian Lacey: Perfect for visiting York, park & ride 10 mins walk, go left at the site exit. £1.20 return with bus pass.Lovely lady Katherine, very helpful, 1/2 mile towards York " Wilco " caravan & motorhome spares.Toilet and shower spotless.EHU 10 amps.will use again. for s sure
Geoff P: Lovely cl, nice lady very pleasant. 10 mins walk to park and ride. Toilet/shower very clean. Don't mind paying £21 felt worth it. Booked again
martyn thompson: Made very welcom good hard standings
Ruth Clench: It has one toilet and shower in the same block so if someone is having a shower and you need the toilet, tough luck!!Nowhere to wash dishes either. It was only a ten minute walk to the park and ride though.
Paul Graves: Went there for a short break with our friends lovely clean site quite and good size pitches only 5 , that brings me to the electric hook-ups supposed to be 10amp so you have to be selective what you have on . It kept tripping not on individual posts but everyone's and this had to be turned back on in the owner's garage? Obviously a problem with the supply. I'm afraid the 2 of our caravans got the blame as apparently it didn't trip before we came, there was one more caravan and two motor homes the man in the caravan said he was using gas and not electric but looking into his awning he had an electric barbecue grill the thought was two faced or what as he had spoken to the lady pointing at our two caravans obviously blaming us two . The only other thing there was only one shared toilet between men and women and it also had the only shower in there aswell so if someone had a shower you had no toilet to go to until the shower was vacated. Anyway it didn't spoil our holiday and we had a nice time .
jayne parkinson: Location is excellent for visiting York using park and ride facilities poor 5 motorhome pitches only 1 toilet and 1 shower £1to use in same building .I'd have thought for a cmc site it was below par
Michelle Blackman: Great site, just around the corner from Monks Cross Park and ride. Just 1 toilet and shower in the same room, but no queues for the 4 days we were there.
Charlie Parkin: Lovely site, well maintained, nice and peaceful. We'll be back. Thank you Catherine
John Frayne: Lovely small peaceful clean site ...30 min easy walk to centre .....only 1 toilet / shower ....family of four took priority so had to wait an hour ....we were in no rush so not an issue ...
Christopher Stead: Great stay as always.
Kelly Bryan: Lovely clean campsite. Very welcoming and helpful owner nothing to much to ask. Few minute away is the park and ride to go to york city centre. Hopefully to book again soon
N Ma: A small CL with basic facilities close to monks cross shopping centre
Sam Deakin: Fantastic quite site very close to monks Cross shopping center and 2 miles from York x
Matt Furber: Excellent location. Flat hardstanding pitches. Approach lane is unmade and heavily pot holed but can be passed without difficulty at slow speed. Location is perfect. 25 min walk into York, 7 min walk to the park and ride bus stop, for York, plus the vanguard retail park. Plenty to do!

Andrew Barron: A very quiet campsite with hardstanding pitches set in lovely surroundings a quick drive, bus or taxi ride away from the centre of York. The site has nice clean & warm facilities both male & female, with a disabled WC, washing machine, tumble drier, there's even an iron & ironing board should you need them! A lovely site to stay on to explore York & the surrounding areas...👍🏻
A Glu: Fabulous. This site is a gem.Great location, very well looked after and great facilities. The team of Nicola, Duncan, Jenny and Tim are super helpful and are readily on hand to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. Our son loved the games room and we appreciated the on-site laundry facilities and shop for the everyday items such as bread and milk (and a cheeky chocolate or two).Top job team, thank you.

Debra Huckle: Lovely wooded site, very welcoming. Serviced pitch great, TV coverage good, push showers not great but clean, good sized pitches. Lovely chainsaw owls dotted around well lite, quiet site. Games room Great and playarea for those with kids. Shop has good selection of essentials. Great pub/ food Quakerwood, amazing weekday deals 10 minute bike ride from site. Would return 😁
paul jagger: Very clean and quiet little site perfect for relaxing break away, kids kept them selves happy with the little play ground and wooded areas, plus a games room. Site is surrounded by farm land so a nice area for walks and very dog friendly, a short walk into Askham Bryan to great little pub ( the Nags Head i think)for a massive Sunday lunch finished off our week. Its about a 10 minute drive into York if your wanting a bit more but for us just getting away from it all for a week it was perfect .
Michael Anderson: Great site, excellent value for money, lovely staff. Definitely will go again.
Paul Taggart: Staff pleasant and polite a good play area and games room.Taxi ride into york

Thornfield Farm Caravan and Camping: what do users think?
Smiley Bean: Basic 5 van site with water, electric and toilet disposal facilities. Flat gravel pitches and not too much road noise. Easy to find and very near to a couple of retail/leisure parks (we could see Cineworld from the van)
Andy Saxby: Great little site on the outskirts of York, EHU and waste disposal but no toilet/shower block. Just 10-15 minutes walk from park and ride at monks cross and vanguard shopping centre.
anthony bancroft: Great site, superb location as very close (5-10 min walk) to monks cross retail, and park and ride into York.No Toilets or Showers on site but Power, Water, and waste facility. Electric Gate gives added security.Lovely friendly owners, 5 stars.
Roy Crosby: Great location for Central York, close to park and ride. Hardstandings so open all year.
Debra Iceton: Excellent stop over for York. Lots of good shops at Monk's Cross retail park only a short walk. Park and ride operates every 12 minutes into The Shambles.Site is lovely, well maintained and secure.Owners are very nice and informative of the local area. We'll definitely use this site again 👍
helen farnham: Brilliant site, small but has essentials you need for your Motorhome... Drinking Water, grey waste emptying point, black waste disposal and recycling bins.Monks Cross 10 mins walk, bustop into town 3 mins.
Jim Steel: Road noise was quite a big issue. Quite expensive for what you get not happy won't be coming back.
David Maclachlan: Just the job
Catherine Sadler: Fabulous 4 day break at Thornfield Farm caravan park.Simple, very clean.Lovely greeting on arrival by Janice.5mins walk to the park and ride to pop in to York, along with various shops if you've forgotten anything. We'll definitely be revisiting this caravan park.Thank you Janice.
Vincent Rostron: All hard standings with ehu and very level. Secure, gated entrance with coded entry.Information from the owners passed via email was excellent. Payed via bank transfer ( or cash). Very easy walk into the very large shopping complex including multi Plex cinema, bowling alley, supermarkets etc. With bus transport to York via the park and ride. Or a flat, easy walk of just over 2 miles into the centre of York. Some early morning road noise, but nothing too serious.
Chris Major: Great location, particularly for Motorhomes. 30 min walk into Minster. 10 mins into Monks Cross for bowling, shops and food. 16 amp hardstanding, sheltered pitch. Gem of a site. Great security with coded gate. Fab helpful owners

Drivers chatty. All in all what more could you want ??
Wayne Smithurst: Our second visit to this beautiful well kept site. Our tow vehicle limped onto site after developing a fault on route. The RAC couldn’t fix the problem and estimated a 3-5 day wait for recovery. Our site booking was only for 2 nights???? Shelly and Rob were our saviours offering us extra nights and caravan storage if needed. Luckily our vehicle was fixed by a local garage within a couple of days so we didn’t need the storage but the extra 2 nights came in handy. Many thanks from Wayne and Michelle.
Beryl Mcdonagh: Fabulous beautiful stay , Staff very friendly 2 time stay for us
Peter Higgins: Great site . Facilities excellent. Very friendly siteLocation: 4/5 …More

Maurice Chapman: We have given 5 stars because its the best site peace quite showers spotless been here few times you can't ask for better facility's would be nice to have pizza van or fish cchip vanLocation: 5/5 …More
Rob Lyne: Took 2 months to reply - no insurance covers such short stays as excess always exceeds amount paid. Disgusting reply would give it no stars if possible .Beware this site gives no refunds or any credit for future bookings regardless of reasons for having to cancel ( e.g.covid) , a very poor way to conduct a business in my opinion.
Tina White: My husband and I have just spent 7 nights, the site itself is very nice, the shower blocks are very cold, this was reported but nothing changed, there was other people on the site saying the same, the showers are a selling point but would not go back in the winter again
Jim White: Lovely site well laid out. But when you pay alot of money to be away for Xmas you at least expect heating in shower block well none. Disappointed.

Cherry Tree Cottage Caravan Site: what do users think?
Rachael Huggins: Lovely site, owners lovely and make a big effort. Highly recommended
Mark Emmett: What a great little site, immaculately kept but you need your own facilities, none on site. Easy walk to several nice pubs and the bus stops nearby to York. Highly recommend this place
Brian Powley: The cleanst and tidiest site I've been on so far. Loved it and will definitely go back again
Joyce Johnson: A little Gem of a caravan touring site friendly welcome and the site is spotlessly clean close to pubs and restaurants and the town centre will be back againService: 5/5|Location: 5/5 …More
Vaughan Biggins: Top quality small caravan site . All hard standing and immaculately kept.. £22 per night for a 3 night stay ..
Ian Nutter: We stayed on caravan siteService: 5/5|Location: 5/5 …More
Adam Ball: We stopped here as our first overnight stay ever as a family. The facility was awesome and had everything you would need. The bus stop for York city centre is a 3 minute walk from the site, (out the gate to the right, the side with the bus shelter is the one for York City centre). There is also a app you can download for bus timetables, routes and tickets called First Bus. This was a great tip from another camper. (Special Thanks to them). Karen and Martin were super helpful when we were packing up to set off and gave us some great tips and assistance. This is now going to be not only a yearly tradition but a site i hope we visit through the year. Thanks for fitting us in on short notice and we cant wait to come again.
Geoff Oliver: This is our favourite site near York. Convenient bus stop to visit the city.
Karen: Basic site friendly owners ehu but no toilet shower facility
Carol Evans: Lovely site for 15 caravans and motorhomes. Well maintained with hard standing and grass verges around. Nice and flat and all pitches have EHU. No showers or toilets so you need to be self efficient but there are two water points and free wifi that works! Love that there is recycling here and that you're not charged hidden extras for dogs, awnings etc. Met one of the owners who was very friendly with lots of area information. About an hours walk in to York centre or there's a bus stop 150 metres from the site. Had a great stay, thank you. Hope to be back in the new year.
Clive Casey: Beautiful site, great location and very friendly owners. A gem we hope to return to in the future.
Kenn Matthews: brilliant same as last time a very rare gem in York.
John B: What a fabulouds motor home site. Great amenities, great site. Excellent accommodations for where to eat. Can highly recommend The White Horse. Fabulous staff, Great brand. The tortoise beervwas amazing and lovely wine. They fitted us in even though they were fully booked. Can Highley recommend XxWherwell
Phillip Linstaed: Best ever caravan site
robert thornburn: Superb site and good to access York on foot or bike or bus. The local village is lovely. Shop and pubs on hand.
mark finney: Great little caravan park run by friendly, sociable and helpful owners. Pitches are flat with gravelled covering and electric hook up. Small shed on site with an array of dvds to loan and tourist information leaflets. I would have given 5 stars if a toilet was available on site. A toilet is plumbed in as an Elsam point so foul drain and water supply is available making the addition of a toilet pretty simple but maybe there are other reasons behind it? I would recommend the site which is close to a cycle path/River walk into York and will return when I next visit York.
Lord Fuchs: Gepflegter und ordentlicher Campingplatz mit System. Die besitzer sind sehr nett und erklären alles, was man wissen muss.
terry hardwick: Lovely small site no toilets or showers is ideal for going into York I recommend it
alessandro legnani: Ottimo agriturismo vicino York, con la fermata del bus davanti,20 minuti per il centro.
david flynn: Lovely quiet well kept site. Only negative is no toilet block but I knew this before booking.

David Fare: Quiet pleasant surroundings really close to the city
aspden123: Lovely little campsite within walking distance of York Centre. Fresh water and elsan emptying facilities are all that they provide but at £15 per night it's well worth a visit
Holmes family: Brilliant site for exploring York. Friendly and helpful site owner. Pitches are flat and when we visited were well drained despite very heavy rain
Adrian Billingham: Rugged but OK. Nice walk into town
