Hellmuth Erhardt: We discovered the bookshop by chance while walking through the city. We noticed the very creatively designed shop window, which had a certain avant-garde style.The shop itself is full of shelves filled with books of various genres, inviting us to take a closer look. It is interesting to note that an increase in the number of visitors means that you have to make arrangements to get past each other. But that's not a bad thing.Exotic literature is also represented here, which invites you to linger.Very friendly staff and certainly worth a visit.

They have newly or old fashioned published children’s illustrated books, literature, graphic novels and comics. I can’t believe I saw Tin Tin here. Feel so sentimental. The A clockwork orange canvas bag is so cool. I forgot to ask where the book shop owner got it from but it looks like quite rare.

Sam Mortlock: Lovely LGBT+ friendly book shop and cafe. Sells a great collection of books about the community, by the community as well as selling local LGBT artist's earrings, badges etc. The food in the cafe was great too. It made me emotional to visit as I have an LGBT safespace tattoo studio in Colchester Essex, and I am usually the person providing the safe space. Visiting somewhere that also has our community in mind is overwhelming. All staff are lovely and welcoming. Thank you!

Nailya Shamgunova: A fantastic LGBTQ+ indie bookshop in the heart of York. It has a wide variety of titles but it specialises in sci-fi/fantasy, YA and nonfiction. However, it stocks most contemporary queer themed titles, including translated fiction, eg I picked up a copy of Concerning My Daughter by Kim Hye-jin. It also has a lovely and welcoming cafe and a nice selection of queer themed souvenirs such as stickers and badges.

Being a charity shop its stock is, of course, dictated by what gets donated, but the range of titles on offer tempted several of my bibliophile friends to purchase. The space is roomy so you're not tripping over other customers, and there are chairs for the weary of foot to have a little rest. This is definitely going onto my regular list of "things to do in York" - and for a good cause too.

Alan Martin: Interesting little bookshop. Person in charge said that it would usually be more extensive if not for some works taking place. Labels on the books I bought didn't come off cleanly from the acetate covers which was disappointing.
John White: Great sci-fi & fantasy section upstairs - better than anywhere else I've been in York for used books. Very friendly staff. Will definitely be visiting regularly!

Adam Houston: I purchased one of my first Harry Potter books from James back in 2017, a fine condition copy of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone. We still have the book today and love it. The buying experience was extremely enjoyable, we were offered coffee and a wonderful conversation about the market and rare books. James' inventory is of exceptional quality and I would recommend any book collector to visit the store in York or check out his website.
