Emily Dinsdale: If you’re after a stress free, rustic yet chic wedding venue which is run by an amazing team, then look no further than The Normans. This is such a special and unique wedding venue. From the serenity of the beautiful ceremony barn to the party atmosphere created in the Grain Shed barn, with lots of other cosy areas to relax in the cow stalls and bar areas, this place has it all. The team at the Normans really add to your whole experience of planning your wedding to make it as stress free as possible. We cannot recommend it enough to anyone considering their wedding here.
Kez and Pete: The Normans is an incredible wedding venue and Normans team excel themselves. This is like no other barn wedding venue, it truly is one of a kind. There is onsite accommodation for the couple which is beautiful with plenty of space for the bride and her team to get ready. The catering company used by the Normans ‘Hog and Apple’ is to the standard of high restaurant quality with excellent service provided too. The venue itself is beautiful but it is the people working there who really make the Normans more special. We can’t thank the team enough especially Sharon and her husband who coordinated the day for us, you were both so kind and caring, created a stress free day, putting us at ease to make sure we enjoyed our day to the max. Thank you very so much for helping us have the best day.
Anne-Marie Robinson: The decor was beautiful both outside and in - loved the thousands of fairy lights which made everywhere sparkle. Staff were very friendly. The food was delicious, there was plenty of it and it arrived hot. Fantastic day - would highly recommend.

The venue is absolutely stunning and everyone goes above and beyone to make sure your day is perfect! One of the pros to this venue is that you have it the day before and after the wedding so setting up and packing away is stress free! There is so much flexibility, you're able to add so many personal touches and there are different spaces available within the venue to suit all your guests. 100% would recommend and if we did it all again, we wouldn't change a thing!

Philip Rycroft: The Normans proved to be an excellent choice by our daughter for her wedding this past Saturday. The venue itself is beautiful with reclaimed buildings both for the service and the celebration. They have recently added a new Bar area with a splendid log burner - on a cold frosty day this was a fantastic feature. We had plenty of time the day before to set things up and personalise the grain shed where the meal and speeches were held. There are two cottages integral to the site - one for the Brides party and another for close friends and family. They are very well equipped and furnished which added to the enjoyment of the event. Catering was provided by a recommended company and our guests all commented on how good and interesting the food was. Finally, the most important point is the care and attention delivered by the owners and all their staff. Communication was spot on right from the booking and on the day - Sharon - Events Manager was on hand, proactive without being intrusive. It was a fabulous day for our daughter and her now new husband. Philip.
Gavin Rugg: Got married at The Normans in November 2023. Cannot speak more highly of the staff and the venue. The venue is incredibly well thought out and the staff were superb from the initial viewing right through to the days after the wedding. Our suppliers commented on how impressed they were with the staff at The Normans, going above and beyond what they've seen at other venues.
Rob Dudley: Firstly WOW what a place to get married. If your looking for a venue with it all set in one place this is certainly the venue for you. The ceremony barn is incredible with its character and the perfect backdrop to say your I Do’s. With everything based around the central courtyard there is so many amazing spaces to move around the day. The Grain Shed where we had our wedding breakfast is the perfect space for everyone to enjoy their food and dance away the night. The bar is perfectly placed next to the dance floor that keeps your guests dancing all the way to the end of the night. The whole venue gives you the option to have as many or as little decorations as you like. We went very minimal because the venue certainly does the talking.The Catering they have at The Normans provided by Hog and Apple is soooo good. We went with there famous wooden sharing boards and the food was delicious. We had a lot of people coming up to us saying this is some of the best wedding food they had ever had.The bridal suit was perfect to get ready in, there was all the facilities that you needed and a beautiful room where the bride and bridemaids could get ready, with plenty of space for hair and makeup artists. Having accommodation on site made us feel so at ease knowing that everything was in one place.Not only that the staff are incredible with everything from initial viewing all they way to your wedding day. Sharon and Oliver are always so helpful and nothing is a problem for them. They made our special day run so smoothly and we really appreciated all they did for us.This was the only venue we went and saw and we cant think of how any other venue could top this. The perfect wedding venue!!

Oscar Archer: The Normans was the absolute perfect venue for our wedding - we knew as soon as we visited on a viewing that we wanted to get married here. Oliver, Sharon and the team are so organised and made everything run so smoothly in the build up and planning, on the day and sorting everything out afterwards. We've also had so many comments from guests saying how much they enjoyed the venue - we can't recommend it enough.

After having our ceremony in the ceremony barn, we enjoyed our drinks reception in the courtyard followed by use of the grain shed and cow stalls for our wedding breakfast and evening. Rosie Charlesworth: We would recommend The Normans to anyone wanting a rustic farm aesthetic, from the very start Oliver and the team were so helpful and responsive to our questions. On the day Oliver was on hand to guide us through the day and make sure that everything was running smoothly. We were able to access the venue the day before to get everything set up, and the day after the wedding all our decorations had been packaged up for us and left in the cow stalls to pack back into the cars - super easy! The venue itself is stunning and doesn't need much in the way of decoration, but it's also easy to put your own stamp on the place. We stayed in the on-site cottages the night before the wedding, which were really handy with the bridal cottage having a purpose built dressing room with plenty of mirrors, natural light and plug sockets! The other cottage was a perfect base for the groom to get ready with the best man and his family too and made it super easy when the registrar came to speak to us before the ceremony. Highly recommend The Normans, wish we could do it all over again!

Lauren Verity: The team at York Barn couldn’t do enough for us! The run up to the wedding was smooth, with regular contact, planning and care. Special shout out to Nicole for waiting until the last minute to allow us the outdoor wedding we had dreamed of and for making a fantastic reel of our day. All of our guests loved the venue and family/friends loved staying on site in the gorgeous cottages. The team were honestly amazing and matched our sense of humour, easing any last minute nerves. Ola and the bar staff were fab too and so patient when asking for over 40 Baby Guinnesses to toast with. Julie Forde: We choose Villa Farm for our Conference. I cannot recommend the venue and facilities highly enough. The staff were very professional and attentive, nothing was too much trouble. The food was excellent and catering staff lovely. Some of our delegates stayed at the venue and were impressed with the cottages. They aenjoyed having a social space to interact outside the conference and found it much better than staying in a hotel and going back to a room.We will definitely consider Villa Farm for future events. Mark and Rach Wiggins: We had our wedding at York Barn this summer and we simply could not have asked for a better venue and people! From the first day we met Nicole, we knew we wanted to get married there, not just because of the stunning location, but because the team are genuinely so friendly, down-to-earth and helpful. Unlike some venues, where absolutely everything is a costly extra, York Barn include so much and are so flexible. Everything about the weekend was perfect, and Nicole, Corrine and the team could not have done more to make it that way. The onsite accommodation was superb, and made our wedding feel like more of a weekend event than just a day. There's literally not a thing we would change, the saddest thing is that we now don't get to speak with them and meet up regularly, the whole process was made so easy and fun. We'll be going back for anniversaries and special occasions for years to come!

Eve Graham: and a S African man working there told my then fiancé to run / marriage is a mistake / get out whilst he can. Evidently my now husband, thankfully, brushed him off and married me! We went to a handful of wedding fairs / open days and this wasn’t the reception we elsewhere when enquiring.I’ve met some of the ‘merchants’ and they’ve been incredibly enthusiastic and interesting to talk to about the history. They and the building itself sold it to us on a visit during York Residents’ Weekend.If you’re expecting a wedding venue like others you’ll be disappointed ie there’s no support or guidance. When we booked and paid we got confirmation a week or so later

Amanda Hamilton: I recently attended a 3 day yoga retreat at Deighton Lodge. Beautiful place, Carla, Debbie and all of the staff so friendly. Yoga classes were really enjoyable.However, I booked a massage there which was not enjoyable. I was sharing the treatment room with a stranger and person doing my full body massage was male, I was not made aware of either of these factors prior to my treatment. I did not enjoy the massage, I felt quite uneasy and tense throughout. Not the experience I was expecting for £65.00.Other ladies I spoke with felt the same way.
Harriet Taylor: Had my wedding here last week and what a venue. As well as being a stunning place, Sally and the team were incredible in helping us pull the day together and in making sure it ran smoothly. The house and accommodation was top-notch, clean, well-stocked and comfortable. The barn is a spectacle and a lovely blank canvas for couples to put their own stamp on! The Skipbridge team couldn't have been more helpful to ensure the ceremony ran smoothly and they made sure that rain certainly didn't stop play and you can tell that they genuinely love their jobs! Carol Rafferty: Our daughter had her wedding at Bunny Hill on Easter Saturday. All the months of planning suddenly all came together and we had a magnificent wedding weekend. We cannot thank Bunny Hill enough for allowing our daughter and son-in-law to have their dream wedding at this beautiful venue. It made all the difference being able to be at the venue on the Friday and stay in the beautiful rooms. The courtyard and kitchen area are terrific assets in providing fantastic social areas for the night before and morning of the wedding. The bridal suite is great with an area for the hair and makeup and a great lounge area with a balcony leading down to a private outside area with hot tub. The bridal suite meant we had a relaxing morning where all the bridesmaids could relax and spend time with bride all getting their hair and makeup done, enjoying time together getting ready for the wedding. The morning was very relaxing and quite unexpectedly so.Lauren, the coordinator, made sure everything was in place and ready as planned and kept the bride and groom aware of what needed to happen when so everything stayed on track and ran beautifully on the day. Hogg and Apple catered and provided absolutely resplendent food with servers that could not do enough for you.There is something for everyone at Bunny Hill, bar area with a seating area and balcony so you can see the whole reception area below, the reception area with the beautifully set, decorated tables, not forgetting the twinkling dance floor, the outside area with plenty of cushioned seats and heaters and blankets for when it got cooler in the evening. There was an area for everyone even the family dogs came for a while and enjoyed the amazing grassed area as did the children. The archway to the grassed area provided the perfect setting for fabulous photographs. There are so many areas for creating beautiful photographs and memories of such a beautiful day. The venue is just stunning.Even the weather had a break from the rain and the sun shone from Friday to Sunday, which was quite unbelievable given it had rained for weeks! The weather being so good meant we could take full advantage of all the areas of this beautiful venue.All the staff throughout the weekend were so accommodating, ensuring everything went according to plan. I cannot thank or praise the staff at Bunny Hill enough for making our daughter's and son-in-law's wedding such a magical, memorable experience for all of us.
Katherine Hyman: Our friends hosted their wedding at Bunny Hill Weddings last week, we stayed in the "Hedgehog" it was a super space, well supplied and very comfortable. The team at the venue were such friendly, helpful folk and we were made to feel very welcome, even making up a spare bed for our daughter so she could stay in our room with us at short notice. The food was excellent and the serving staff were very efficient and approachable, with a good sense of fun. We would recommend this venue highly and thank them for everything they did for us last week.
Charlotte Rafferty: had everything under control and was there to keep us on track with our timeline. If at any point anything was going wrong we never knew, even the weather was perfect.The wedding barn has everything you could wish for. It has lots of different spaces for people to retire to after the wedding breakfast and the bar area lent itself really well for some of the oldies in the evening as the band we had were too loud for them. The outside space with the heaters was also a big hit with guests.The food was amazing. Bunny has one caterer for the wedding day and the food is incredible. No one left the wedding hungry and it’s one of the things everyone has commented on since.The 10 bedrooms onsite are superb. They’ve been decorated beautifully and offer everything you could possibly need during your stay. There was even a little kids welcome pack for our little girl ❤️.Lauren our coordinator really did put both myself and my husband at ease throughout our wedding planning journey. She was there for all of our weird and wonderful questions. I can’t thank her enough for everything she did for us.I’m just upset our day is over.

The staff were exceptionally accommodating and just all round 'on it'.The set up for the piano, playing on the balcony looking over the guests was divine. Gary Stephenson: Our daughter was married at Bunny Hill on 4 April. We looked at several venues beforehand but Bunny Hill just blew us away….it really is in a league of its own. The venue is spacious and so well designed.The staff are all amazing…so friendly and welcoming. Nothing was too much trouble and our wedding planner Lucy Witton was brilliant.The food was absolutely first class, all of the guests remarked on how good it was. The bar was very well stocked and very comfortable.A big advantage of Bunny Hill is the accommodation…so clean and well furnished. Over 30 of the wedding party stayed over on the night before and the night of the wedding.I really can’t recommend this venue highly enough…you certainly won’t be disappointed and don’t even think about booking anywhere else until you’ve seen Bunny Hill for yourself!

The whole team genuinely care about you as a couple and will do everything to ensure that you get the day that you want. You are allocated a wedding coordinator who is your point of contact. They always respond to emails or phone calls really quickly and nothing is too much for them.Having a coordinator there on the wedding day really takes the stress away from everyone. Our coordinator Lucy was incredible at problem solving and ensured that everything was sorted without me even knowing about it.The venue itself is top class. Everything is thought about. There are so many little details that makes the whole venue perfect.The absolute cherry on top is the in house caterers, Hog and Apple. Apart from getting married, the food was the most important aspect of our day and they absolutely did not disappoint!! Every single guest mentioned that the food was amazing and they all went home suitably stuffed!! There as definitely no tiny portions!!When it comes to the accommodation, every room was clean and comfortable and the decor is just amazing!!The entire grounds are kept up to a high standard.There are seriously no complaints or negatives that I can think of. Ava Bampton: We knew we didn't want to get married anywhere else after we viewed Bunny Hill. The venue, grounds, and accommodation are stunning and everything we could have wished for. It takes very little styling because it is already so beautiful.Hog & Apple are the in-house caterers. My initial concern of having in-house was that it might be restricting. I was soon proven very wrong. You can choose from their vast existing menus or you can work with them to create a bespoke menu and you're not restricted by the type or nationality of cuisine. The food is top quality and they cater to every allergy.You get assigned a Bunny Hill coordinator who takes care of every detail of your day. Sallyanne was our coordinator and she noted every tiny request - nothing was too big or minor and when it came to the day I was confident I wouldn't have to worry about anything. She communicated with all our suppliers in advance to make sure everyone was on the same page. She oversaw and was present the whole day and everything went perfectly.She was in regular communication in the months running up to the day making it streamlined with nothing left to chance.Every member of staff goes out of their way to make you feel special and even our guests commented on how amazing all the staff were.Our wedding day was 14 10.23 and it was an absolute dream. We can't wait to go back to visit Bunny Hill and the staff at the events they put on.
Dave Flowers: I couldn't recommend Bunny Hill Farm enough. All staff were professional and prompt. There were no issues whatsoever and nothing was too much trouble for them. The venue was stunning and the accommodation was fantastic. The caterers that Bunny Hill organised were amazing, the food was all served hot and delicious. Bunny Hill really did make my daughter and son in-laws wedding day a day of perfection. It was a day that myself, my family and wedding guests will never forget and I can't thank you all enough. A special mention to Lauren and James who couldn't have worked any harder on the day and ensured the day went to plan.

Annekin Emerson: Well worth a visit .. great story about the ruined room .. there was a fire in one of the rooms and the 2 sons fled but left the maid who died of her burns. She cursed the house saying that if ever the room was restored the sons of the owners will die . Years later the owner’s sons both died after the owner had try to restore the room!

Trevor Hair: Visited during an Open Garden event, huge gardens for kids to run about in, but Newburgh House is very interesting, reputedly housing Oliver Cromwell's torso from the Restoration period and crammed with period furniture, artwork and oak panelling. Staff are excellent, very knowledgeable about the house's history and keen to discuss it's history. Very much enjoyed it....

Dan: Really great wedding venue, well staffed bar, lovely setup and the hotel rooms were lovely, clean and modern too Rooms: Automatic motion sensing bathroom light in the wall was a premium feature and helped to secure a really great night’s sleep!
Alexandra Cooper: We stayed here for one night on the 28/02. We checked in around 5.30pm and the receptionist was really friendly and polite, and she kindly showed us to our room as we hadn’t stayed before. She gave us all the information we needed, but they do have the reception desk manner 24/7 so always someone to help. Our room was No 34 a signature room at the front of the hotel, overlooking the car park so not a great view, but then you don’t pay for that. It had large shutter windows which were a nice touch. The room overall was great - really spacious, a HUGE entrance/dressing area with wardrobe, tea/coffee facilities and dressing table. Bathroom really modern and water temp and pressure great. Only small issue was some of the shutters were broken so didn’t stay open/shut which was a shame. You can cast to the TV as well which was great! The hotel is about 15 minutes outside of York so great if you’re here to explore the city. The grounds are really quiet - hardly heard a thing our whole stay! Really loved our stay, would definitely come again if we visit York.

Mike Woolmer: We strongly recommend a visit to the Mansion House. The warmth of welcome. The professionalism and knowledge of the front of house team and the guide. The vivid stories of the house in particular the dining room, the table settings and the food served. Also the history of York during those times put all into context. Kev did all that, he was fantastic, throughout the whole day he was there, in the background taking shots and capturing the most beautiful pictures. We were able to discuss and pre-plan all the "must-have" photos we really wanted, which were all expertly arranged and composed without fuss.Blending into the background Kev captured all those perfect unplanned moments, but was instantly available when needed for a set-piece shot. His innate ability to spy interesting spots and backgrounds for great arty photos mean we have an amazing album of traditional alongside modern and edgy, and we could not have wished for a better photographer at our wedding. Judith klaus: A lovely hack today in sunny weather. Rideways is a greatly needed and much appreciated facility where people can ride off road. The bonus is the cafe which does lovely food and exceptional home made cakes. Don't miss it!

Pinch Me Please Leeds: Brilliant venue. WSF really stands out from other farm/barn venues in the area with lots of quirky little touches inside and out. Great staff as well! Looking forward to our upcoming bookings there.

Jenny Holdsworth: White Syke Fields is beautiful. We found this place online back in 2021 and knew it was the only place we’d find like it to get married. A blank slate that allows you the flexibility to do what suits you. It has so much character and there’s SO much space that we hired a bunch of games too. Charlotte and Steph have thought of everything. Our guests were in total awe of the place. The bar staff are also the loveliest.

It's the most perfect 'us' venue imaginable and we relished the opportunity to make it our own, really going to town with our DIY props to create our mad, bold vision. It turned out better than we could have imagined.Everything about the planning, coordination, communication, and on-the-day support was perfect. Genuinely could not recommend WSF more!

Steph their in-house event coordinator was very organised and made sure the day ran smoothly. fiona Bielby: In June 2022, I was lucky enough to photograph a wedding here and I have to tell you the experience was extremely enjoyable.The venue is ran by a small team and is nestled in the beautiful woodland just off the A64 between York and Malton, making it really accessible for the people who choose to use it.Not only does the venue offer the mature woodlands that surround it for photos, it also has a large pond and modern wall graphics for couple who like something a bit different or even just a variety.Whilst I visited, the couple had chosen the piggery for their ceremony, which was conducted by the fabulous Rachael Bowers.The piggery is light and airy and can take as much or as little of whatever decor you might like to garnish it with. Making it a photographer’s paradise.The Wheelhouse where the reception and night celebrations was held offer a very different atmosphere to the piggery. It’s warm, ambient lighting gives the vast area a cosy feeling and is just incredible for bigger wedding parties. The space also offer an authentic bar area and plenty of room for a relaxed seating along with the DJ or band.During my time here, I was greeted with an enthusiastic team, who looked after me nicely, they showed me the best places for photos, so we could make the best of the time we had for our sessions. They even kept an eye out for the amazing golden hour so I could concentrate on capturing dance moves.
Mark Horton Photos: I shot a wedding here in 2022 and I cant wait to be back again this year. it's one of my favourite venues in the north. The staff are loverly and always make sure their suppliers are well looked after and there are so really cool places for photos around the venue. the pink feature walls, the industrial vibes of the farm and the white barn being my favourite.
