Molly Johnson: For a Monday we really enjoyed this, it didn’t matter that it wasn't busy. Leera was our server and she was so attentive and brought our drinks and even asked us if we wanted more drinks before we had finished. The round brought out just before paying was amazing and a good value for money. I would definitely recommend as we felt very accommodated.Vegetarian options: Great vegetarian options and very flexible for changes and additions
Luke F: We celebrated our 50th birthdays this weekend and certainly had the VIP treatment from the staff. Special mention for Caitlin from my old neck of the woods, Liv and Finn who looked after us and kept us flowing with gorgeous drinks. Food was amazing too and such good value for money! Made our special day extra special and they’re a credit to the Slug and Lettuce brand!!

Deever: Our waiter Finn was absolutely incredible, attentive, charismatic & just a fab waiter. He looked after my mums table as it was her surprise 50th with ease. He dealt with allergies & dietary requirements amazingly. Drinks were amazing, food was fab. If you need a table in York this is the place to go. Get Finn to be your waiter. Thank you so much to everyone that contributed to my mums table she had the best time. We cannot wait to get back. Margaret ashbridge: Being gluten intolerant and pescatariam it's difficult to find a restuarant that offers a plate of joy but Lucia restuarant did that. Food well presented and tasty. Staff very helpful and with a welcoming smile very attentive. The only downside was loud modern music but on asking the sound was turned down leaving us to enjoy our anniversary meal with family . This was our third visit and we will be returning.Dietary restrictions: Gluten free risotto with truffle oil so very , very tasty.

Joseph Newman: bar with ‘wine flights’ and ‘gin flights’ available on a walk in basis, and special ‘experiences’ upon booking too. They have some really great good boards too, which are quite filling and a good portion. The value is a bit hit as miss, but the venue is exhaustive and has all the prices on. Service is great. They don’t accept Amex just FYI. Definitely recommend a visit here.
SR: We booked here on a personal recommendation for our weekend away in York and definitely weren't disappointed. We shared the Deli board for 2. I'm really not a wine drinker but I wasn't made to feel silly for not liking wine, or subjected to "oh but you MUST try this one I KNOW you're going to like it" as I sometimes am in other places! The deli board was gorgeous and great quality, and we were stuffed afterwards.The service was really friendly and prompt. We were sat at a little bench/bar seat, and my only criticism is that I didn't feel this was really big enough for the 4 people that were sat at it, we felt squished in by the other party of 2.Otherwise a fab experience, maybe our favourite food from the whole weekend!
Michelle Morgan: Beautiful wine selection, coupled with gorgeous cheeses on the centre of York.We had a lovely, lazy lunch with Pairings. Ordering four types of wine, cheese, a pork pie and dessert.The atmosphere is buzzy and lovely. Staff were knowledgeable and welcoming.I’d recommend asking for a table near the front of the restaurant as the back is windowless and without natural light.

Darrel Harker: Staff stood talking for like 2 minutes while just me waiting at the bar to be served .. Got cocktails, guy serving said no cream for the drink, jokingly said discount, and the guy in a rude tone said you get them half price anyway! To hop it of got two packets of crisps and he forgot to give me them so had to ask for them. One of the bags was all sticky.

Adam: I’ve been up and down to York for a number of years and I was taken to the House of the Trembling Madness in my first night by a colleague. Since then it has become my firm favourite for drinks with friends and somewhere to find unique/hard-to-find beers from the shop. Service is always exceptionally friendly, prices are very reasonable and the atmosphere is so relaxed!
Mark R: If you want to find the bar, head through the many shelves of cans to the staircase at the back! Once you find it, it's super cosy, lovely high ceiling, exposed beams and great animal head collection. Nice selection of cask and keg beers, you can also buy anything from the ground floor and drink in if nothing on tap takes your fancy. We'd be back for sure 🍻🍺🍻
