David Marshall: Early evening weekday meal during Easter break. As tourists to York we weren't sure whether a reservation was required, but we were able to get a 6pm table without any fuss.The kids menu was generous, certainly enough for our 10 and 12 year old boys.Cocktails were very nice and the food was tasty. We had the sharing kebab which was great and just about the right size.Only complaint was the speed. Given the place was probably three quarters full, the length of time between ordering and receiving the main courses was a little over an hour, which felt a long wait.
Kylie Smith: Absolutely love this place! Go with the girls for cocktails and nibble and with the husband for the hanging kebabs! Delicious!Kid-friendliness: I’ve taken my daughter here for lunch and it’s child friendly for all ages.

James White: Visiting York for the weekend with the missus and called in this place for a couple of drinks and a bite to eat. Cocktails were so good im actually concentrating to write this properly. 🤣🤣🤣 Food was excellent my wife is a vegetarian so sometimes difficult to find a menu to suit us both. Service was as good as the food. Was served by a young man from Manchester. Kaiden, was both funny and friendly. Whole visit was thoroughly enjoyable. Well worth a visit whilst in the city.

Rich Deerdog: This is the bar at The Principal Hotel in York; which is the big old hotel next to the train station.Not your average station hotel, this place has atmosphere. Must have been properly luxury in its day, with many period features. Still nice now.Bar itself can be accessed from hotel or from outside. Good range of seats inside. Leather chairs are best.The beer, on this occasion, was Mahou. Decent lager; previously only seen in Manchester.Small food menu. Scotch egg.Nice place for a pint. Well done.
VILHAS DUSSANI: The people were very nice and the food was outstanding. The music was amazing. I just love this restaurant.Vegetarian options: There were a few vegan options. The one did I take took what is the hummus and it was outstanding.

Paul Suggitt - Film Director: Having had a business meeting in the Principal Hotel this morning, this afternoon was spent filming, and the backdrop for the filming was chosen to be in Chapter House, given it's great alcoves and general layout.Sam, the duty manager of the bar was very accommodating while we were filming and even helped us out.10 out of 10 for the staff service in there today.For those wanting a drink, the bar is extremely well stocked and the prices are quite fair too, which in today's economic climate is a total bonus.Recommended!
Adonia Proudlove: Absolutely incredible service from Sam. Sam knows said they cocktails and they most definitely do. they made me and my friend some specially based on after what flavours we after and got it perfect. Very impressed.
Louise Hall: Nice atmosphere. Good cocktail selection but they had run out of rhubarb gin which was a shame!

Barry McGill: Great homely pub with friendly staff and good value pub grub. We had the beef sani and standard chip butty which was huge. Just glad the landlord steered me away from the giant chip butty. Well worth a visit but make sure you have cash as they don't accept cards

PrometheusZero: Came here for a late 2am licence. We just needed somewhere to sit and drink after the last place closed and this provided. It was the usual Friday night shenanigans, drunk guy in tears in the toilet, drunk guy asking to score coke outside while having a cigarette, annoyed bar staff because were being loud at 2am. Would come here over Dusk when I'm not finished partying again.

Al: Seating wasn’t supremely comfortable upstairs, with benches with no backs and quite thin cushions.Music was quiet and made it easy to chat.The top bar was closed when we visited and it was quite busy…Overall, a fun place to go, but not necessarily the best overall from my visit.

Charlotte Gatehouse: such a lovely little pub!! came highly recommended from family members, and apparently the smallest pub in the uk. despite its petite size, we didn’t have a problem finding seats, and enjoyed a couple drinks here. the atmosphere was so cosy and friendly, and the service was amazing. the bar staff were very chatty and welcoming, we’ll definitely be back if we come to york again
