PrometheusZero: Very reasonably priced gym in a great location for staff and students. Might be a bit too student-y for anyone for anyone that isn't a university member or alumni.All the kit works but some is clearly a hand me down from York Sport Village. It's clean and mostly well maintained though. Staff are friendly and helpful. Finding a locker that isn't occupied, keyless or broken can be a bit of a pain.Never the less, I've been coming here for ages and it's helped keep to my weightloss and fitness goals. Can't say fairer than that!

Quite warm today, with roped off lane swimming.Very reasonably priced cafe.Unfortunately, they only take credit cards, which I didn't realise til I got there. Also, the showers weren't very warm, but apart from that very good.

Shane Finch: Cannot recommend Swift Fitness enough , I’ve been doing cardio for the last 20 years but since having my PT sessions with Danny he has completely shifted my mindset on fitness and getting stronger .The Gym and the people are fantastic, I’m now enjoying going even though the Hitmill gets me every time!!If you are after a gym that has the best machines, knowledgable people and is central to York then this is the gym for you!

Louise Atkinson: Without doubt best gym I’ve ever been to.It looks sleek and modern, all the equipment is new and well maintained and all the staff and other members are really friendly, the people watching out of the window while you’re doing cardio is an added bonus! Honestly couldn’t recommend this place highly enough.
Carrie-Ann Hallett: I was a member for the year in 2022 and unfortunately recently ended this due to moving house, but will definitely be returning on individual passes when I visit the city centre. A stunning gym, beautifully set out, new equipment and the friendliest PTs. Classes are great, diverse offering, great times and the coaches make them accessible for all fitness levels. Nat and Charlotte really get to know each individual to help you challenge yourself to reach your goals. The 6.45 class group are such a friendly bunch and create a welcoming and motivational space to work out. The cafe food is consistently delicious and a great place for a coffee if you fancy a change from working from home. Lydia puts on some great gym socials too on a regular basis if you’re looking to meet new, likeminded people in York! To top it all off the changing rooms are lovely and there’s even a sauna hidden away that you can book. Supersonic goes above and beyond your standard gym!

Susie Wood: Supersonic is a welcoming oasis of calmness in the middle of York. The classes are great and the staff always treat you as if you’re really special. During lockdown, I hurt my shoulder and was able to visit supersonic for a massage with Nat. A few visits with her care and attention soon saw me back to normal. I now regularly visit for a sports massage and regard it as an essential part of my fitness regime. Thanks to Nat, I always look forward to the next visit.
Victoria Freedman: which was amazing to learn how to use the equipment safely and effectively - it also allows me to use piece of equipment I wouldn't have felt able to approach before. All round great gym - it is definitely great value for everything you get!
Irene Condemi: I spent most of my life convinced that I hate to work out, and one day I had a barre class with Charlotte that changed everything - She is a great teacher, she helps me pushing myself but at the same time she is super kind and supportive. The yoga classes with Rebecca are also superb, she is very knowledgeable and friendly, she pushes us during the class but at the same time she always make sure that we are comfortable with the practice, suggesting alternative poses when we are challenged. It is a very positive and supportive environment, I am definitely signing up!

Rm Hodgy: This is a brilliant place for kids I took a 7yr, 11yr, 12yr and a 14yr. Saying that I enjoyed it too. We went on a Sunday morning and it wasn’t that busy. The course is good but some things let the place down.No toilet paper in any of the ladies toilets I did report it to a staff member who said the delivery hadn’t come. I’m sorry but that’s no excuse there’s plenty of shops, go buy some. It doesn’t matter that they don’t go in the dispensers but it does need providing. The food looked good so went to order 7 meals the girl on the counter was looking at her reflection in the tea bag bin on the worktop squeezing spots on her face! I mean really there’s a time and a place!! 😡. I said I was going to order to some food but i definitely aren’t now after seeing that. She just went red and walked away. Absolutely disgusting. But other than that great place to burn off some energy or calories.

Thomas Mills: First class service here. Was running late for our booking, called them and explained and they said we could just have the hour from when we arrive no trouble. Got there and I'd forgotten the grip socks, so they sorted the kids out some socks without charge. All fronted by really friendly young people. The place has a lovely relaxed atmosphere, the kids love it and the coffee is decent too. Beats that awful trampolining place hands down!

Lilith Carter: I joined Fossfit Jan 2020 hoping to move more but I was a little hesitant as I wasn’t a gym person, I always felt a bit intimidated by the machines and not knowing where to start, what to do… Fossfit definitely was the best choice for me because they have the perfect subscription for my early days and now I feel very different on how I approach my workouts with or without a Personal Trainer, who by the way is brilliant, is always attentive and give me advice and correct my form whenever I need to.Fossfit is a small independent business, they have created a safe and healthy space to work out making some good friends on the way to a better self.Highly recommend

Julie Barker: Well were do l start with Foss Fit it’s a boutique gym that is perfect for all ages. With us being in our 60s we decided to have one to one PT with Paul. He is always pushing us and every session is different. All the staff are super welcoming and always happy to help. It’s a clean and modern gym suitable for all ages.
Andy sandham: actually listens to what you need. I also find watching the ducks swimming in the canal while PUMPING IRON is a great motivator.

Holly Robinson: Paul has been consistent with his support and training, I have a few health issues, but have only missed 3 sessions as Paul always caters to this. Each Wednesday at 2pm there are new and exciting routines to try and I am never bored with any of the exercises set by Paul. We share a love of Clubland tunes and every appointment has songs in the background whilst lifting weights, cardio and pull ups! I never imagined I would ever be able to do a push up but with Paul’s guidance and support these have been added to the exercises that are included, I have had two previous PT’s but neither were right for me due to unrealistic goals and miscommunication, Paul makes sure I am in the gym each week and books future sessions at the end of every PT class, thus is reassuring and positive for me, I have noticed such a change in my self confidence and mental well being since starting, I attended the gyms monthly pub quiz! By myself! This is something I never would have done before! I am very thankful for Paul’s Personal Training

Lisa Machin: Light, airy and very clean inside and out. Great choice of 3 pools, gym and climbing wall. The cafe has good selection of light bites, sweet cakes and hot / cold drinks. A library adds to the options inside, + upstairs holds a blood taking department + other health needs. YCFC + YORK KNIGHTS both play their home games here, which is an added bonus. Outside offerings include a popular children's play park, + an area to play football and other ball games.
Yumi Horton: Very nice experience. Staff were very thorough with explaining the rules and techniques and were also helpful and kind. Large variety of climbing walls suitable for a wide range of ages.

Mark Hunt: Joined 24/7 for a month in July. I really liked the option to join for a month and it was great value. People relaxed and plenty of space. I usually went mid afternoon and hardly any queues for equipment. Hope to be back next year!
Luke P: Great gym especially for the price. Always clean and tidy, staff really friendly and good selection of PTs and on site physio. Kit occasionally broken but gets fixed very quickly. Would recommend.

Jon Stagg: Great gym, I swapped from one that was quadruple the price and this is far, far better in every way, all the equipment you could want, good range of classes in proper studios, huge changing rooms and tons of lockers, plus a really friendly vibe which makes a huge difference, staff are fantastic too, genuinely friendly and helpful and keep it very clean too! My only niggle is the choice of music which I feel could be more varied to reflect the varied age ranges of members, atm it’s heavily focused on generic dance, update the playlists with more rock and 80’s & 90’s hits and I’ll add the extra star 😃

William Owen: First impressions very positive. Friendly, caring staff and a good atmosphere. Will know more in a few weeks.Eight weeks on and am loving Crossfit. Have limited experience of gyms but the ones I have visited have seemed impersonal with very little help on hand for beginners. Completely different here as caring, friendly, helpful coaches guide you through the exercises. The over 60s group I'm in work well together and are supportive of the weaker ones. Can't recommend Crossfit highly enough.

Gloria Garcia: The best gym in York without a doubt, the coaches are fantastic, the workouts varied and everything can be scaled to everyone’s ability, so you work out in a group supported by friendly people and knowledgeable coaches, but at your level and keep progressing according to your own abilities, you challenge yourself. It’s truly enjoyable. You have to try it!
