Hz. A.: A wonderful gallery with beautiful works of British artists. We bought a very charming painting of Gordon Lees, now it is hanging in our bedroom, cannot stop looking at it! We are thinking of getting another one from Mr. Lees now! Staff were very friendly and knowledgeable.

The staff at York Fine Arts are second to none with their knowledge of the artists and the paintings that are shown in the gallery and can't do enough to help out, from choosing to purchacing, to getting home. Frank James: signed by the Swiss artist Louis Moilliet that had at some point been torn from its frame. The paint in some areas had begun to flake off, and the condition overall was frankly appalling. We were recommended to consult York Fine Arts about the possibility of restoration, and have been absolutely delighted with the restorer's work.The delicate canvas has been backed to prevent further damage, and the paintwork restored to its original condition. Claire: I came here to get a £50 framed for my friend. The staff are so helpful and friendly. They explained the different types of mounting they could do, even helped me pick the right mounting colour. They have a great range of price options that suit your budget.

I had to email the gallery as I was buying from Australia… Ann was really friendly and helpful! The prints came quickly and WELL PROTECTED.. I mean.. The reflections on the water at dusk are mesmerising, and the use of colours makes the piece so atmospheric that I can't take my eyes off it. I was informed by a very friendly and informative gentleman that it was painted by M. Braithwaite for the York flood appeal.

Sarah Holmes: My wonderful friends arranged a paint-a-pot session as part of my hen weekend celebrations, and what a fabulous time we had! We were so well looked after, in a gorgeous room with flowers and twinkly lights...lots of choice of pots and lots of support and advice as we painted. It was so relaxing, fun and friendly. Josh Cheang: A lovely, chilled atmosphere with super friendly staff who are happy to take the time to explain how things work. Across all our visits the staff were always lovely. My only concern is the chaotic way finished items are organised and how communication is conducted after the painting is finished. We were initially told it would take 2-3 weeks to fire our pots, with a text/call to confirm collected. 3 visits and 8 weeks later we managed to collect our items, however no text/call was made. We basically had to keep visiting to see if times were ready to collect.All in all a good experience but slightly frustrating post customer care.

Caroline & Angela were excellent teachers, nothing was too much trouble when all 15 of us were heckling asking questions! 😂 Most of all they were brilliant fun and really added to the experience and atmosphere that they created! We were complete beginners and from the moment we arrived they made us feel at ease. The demonstrations were really useful and explained well, and they were always on hand to answer any questions as we were practicing. It was very well structured, whilst also having the freedom to experiment. We learnt lots of techniques, from wedging the clay and throwing on the wheel to glazing. We can't recommend the course enough, and we will definitely be back!

The great deals of old are long gone and prices, as with any shop, are going up.The shop itself, like all Rymans, is crowded and poorly organised, and could do with a refit, thinning out the products slightly to make more room for browsing. But this branch is no different from any other and their range is very good. I think that we should be grateful that they're still in operation, actually.

J. wexler: I had the pleasure of actually visiting with Brian at Jelling Dragon. This is probably one of the oldest online viking/medieval suppliers online, whom I have prowled online for years. I purchased 3 items, 2 of which are higher end. I wanted to see and check the fit on a silver bracelet and wool tunic.I cannot stress enough, the high quality of materials and finish on my items. All visible seams hand sewn, wool is natural and heavy. The finish and weight on the bracelet exquisite.No wonder they have been around for years.The business is located in York in the former building for the Northern Command for the allies in WW2.
