Bettys Café Tea Rooms: what do users think?

Sam Gormley: , mini scones, and sweet treats - plus as much tea as you like! The food and drink was uniformly of excellent quality; we particularly loved the scones with candied citrus. We enjoyed a variety of teas: the white and jasmine teas were exceptional, as were the more traditional Earl Grey and breakfast blends. The whole experience felt really special and, given the amount of food, more than worth the price. Highly recommended!

Noel Fearnside: and Northallerton.Parking: Hugely expensive.

Sean Elder: Lovely shop with really nice staff! No matter your tipple, there’s a tea for you here. Shop next door is an emporium! Spent way too much time and money in there! Looking forward to enjoying the teas at home.

Callum S: I've been buying tea from here for 10+ years, and never been disappointed by the selection and quality of the teas, or by the friendliness of the staff. They also do online delivery, although the shop itself is well worth the visit!

Michelle Morgan: Quiet oasis with hundreds of teas and fresh cakes.Stopped in to rest and recharge after a long day of walking.Staff were warm and welcoming. The tea selection is virtually endless with hundreds of options.Cakes were yummy and served in a quiet area in the back of the shop.Would happily visit again.

Richard Bibb: A good little tea room with a huge selection of teas and a decent collection of cakes and pastries.

Tharin Phenwan: Gorgeous teashop with an extensive tea collections. I have been ordering their tea for years and their tea is always top quality. You can smell the tea and test some inside their shop. Highly recommended.

Adrianna Z: All Fabulous

Tony Jarrett: Never seen so many teas under one roof, amazing.

Beki Meson: if you're feeling adventurous!

Helen Bailey-Beveridge: Very helpful friendly and knowledgeable staff, there is a wonderful selection of teas, they taste amazing. We will be ordering more. The only thing I think that could be improved, is the amount tea storage options.

Danica jade: Amazing tea shop, staff are so friendly and helpful and willing to explain everything. The teas smell and taste AMAZING.

Jake Murray: We visited the Hebden Tea Company while walking through the shambles and were impressed with the wide range of tea products. We visited the cafe first, and we were super impressed with the service we received. We walked upstairs, and there was a table with a little drain for the discarded tea; we decided to try different types of tea and loved our visit. The server was super friendly and even helped us to determine what teas we liked. When we were done, we walked next door to the shop and decided to buy several teas. I adored Earl Grey Blue, a fragrant tea that was quite strong and suited our needs. There were plenty of different styles of tea, and the next time we go to York, we'll be sure to stop by here to visit and get a bunch more loose tea!

Aziz Adil: Loved this, I wasn’t even a fan of tea before but coming here actually inspired my tastebuds! They have a wide range of flavours available, which you can smell to try and see which one you like.Prices are reasonable with tea bag boxes starting from £5-6 and a cup of tea for £2!Nice ambience in the store with the lighting and music, felt at peace.

Alcyone Dreams Spiritual Artwork by Tracy (#AlcyoneDreamsArt): Brilliant! Great experience - Would recommend!Huuuuge tea selection. Friendly welcoming staff enthusiastic about tea.10% off shop next door after buying a cafe tea here.Scones available.Serve coffee too for the non-tea people.

Nana Klein: Walking through The Shambles we came across a wonderful display window full of cakes and tarts and we couldn't resist going inside. Goodness! The best earl gray yea I've ever had! And the spectacular cakes! It is worth the visit

Natsumi Ogawa: I always have tea to go whenever I stop by this cute little tea shop. You can have a generous cup of tea from their wide selection of over 50! This time I had orange cookie flavoured black tea and my friend had Japanese genmai-cha, both of which tasted amazing. The staff are very friendly and kindly help to find the tea you want.

Andrew Ruff: Friendly staff . Amazing tea. Will be back.

Tallulah Thomas: I've just tried the chocolate orange rooibos I got here the other week, really gorgeous quality tea. The staff were happy to show us around and the selection is enormous! Plus points for the sweet dog observing the comings and goings of The Shambles from the entranceway 3

Castle Tea Rooms: what do users think?

p wints: My Daughter took me and her mum away for the weekend to York, and Sunday breakfast for mother's day, she wanted to take us to The Ivy but as it was mother's day it was fully booked, so after a walk round we found Castle tea rooms so we decided as we were starving to go in, and how glad we did it was a lovely experience and nice traditional tea room, i went for the full breakfast while others had beans on toast and bacon and tomato sandwich and I can honestly say it was far better than a ivy breakfast at half the price! The bacon was thick and top quality and my daughter wanted some cheese for her beans that was no problem for the staff who we had a chat and laugh with, all in all we had a great experience at great value and came away glad the ivy was full.

The Earl Grey Tearooms: what do users think?

Dave Hamilton: From the outside looks tiny buy goes back some way even with a courtyard area. Style is traditional even with a coal effect electric fire and easy listening music playing. It's very traditional and relaxing. Staff friendly. Served quickly though on a March Tuesday morning it wasn't busy. Had tea, served with a strainer. Nice breakfast blend. Also just a scone which was stale and not really edible. Didn't complain so didn't give them a chance to remidy. Menu looks to be a range of fairly traditional dishes so might be better come lunch.

Abs Vli: The loveliest place I visited in York. Did assume it would be a tourist trap on the Shambles, but everything was perfect. The women welcoming us in were friendly and welcoming, the service was quick and thorough. I had tea and a jacket potato, portions are perfect for the price, you won't leave hungry.Relaxing music and a calming atmosphere compared to the Shambles outside.Would really recommend as a nice little break during your visit to the shops.Vegetarian options: Good selection of vegetarian options either for scones or a warm meal.Wheelchair accessibility: a bit Cramped, may need assistance entering through the door. but ground floor can be made more spacious

Azure: Food was good but could have done with thicker nicer slices of bread and a wider range of food options and teas but overall we had a good experience!Bit miffed that they'd run out of quiche and nothing else quite took my fancy so I had to settle for scrambled eggs on toast for afternoon lunch 💀.

Joseph Wood: Excellent tea, good coffee, great bacon sandwiches. Better value with bacon sandwich and house tea. We hunted for the bacon sandwich and this was the best place in York.I really, really like the tea.

John Thomson: was lovely and I'd definitely want to visit again.Staff were friendly and helpful.

chubby boi: The experience was very nice and classy with serving your own tea and having a nice chat with the people your brought along. Food was good and served quickly and staff were very friendly despite it being busy. Was quite small however being seated against a fire extinguisher I was worried about knocking it offDefinitely would recommend
