Welcome to Queen Mary’s Grammar School, a selective boys’ grammar school with academy status.

This is a happy school with a sense of family at its heart. Students enjoy their learning and staff are devoted to the delivery of stimulating and challenging lessons that facilitate achievement.

In September 2016, QMGS became one of the first 14 secondary schools in the UK to participate in the Mandarin Excellence Programme: a new intensive language programme funded by the Department for Education.

Change Your Mind is a nationally recognised programme, which had its inception at QMGS. It provides 16 and 17 year old students the opportunity to plan and deliver health and wellbeing workshops to local primary school schools. It is in the very best tradition of our School ethos.

Since opening in 2012, the Walsall, St Matthews Study Centre has nurtured hundreds of students aged three to 16, to help them develop the necessary skills to tackle work beyond their school level. We have seen children who lacked in confidence come running into class eager to show off their latest achievement certificates from school.

At Kumon, we realise that each child is different and learn in different ways. The free assessment we carry out provides a starting point appropriate to your child’s current level of ability and identifies any areas needing development. A study plan is then drawn up and, as your child moves through the programme, their progress is continuously monitored, with the aim of reaching an advanced level.
