Allied Self Protection: what do users think?
James Fuggle: Approachable, friendly, fun, practical, effective, realistic, clear. I could use many more adjectives to describe the classes, the instructors and the methodology that make up Allied Self Protection. I spent 12 years learning and enjoying a range of martial arts, many of which I still enjoy today, and all of which were also taught by Steve and Les. Throughout it all I focused upon and enjoyed the most effective and direct methods. When Steve and Les started Allied Self Protection to focus on true self defence I loved it and have joined. This is brilliant, I’m 42, not some gym fanatic, an office worker, and I like to have fun, the atmosphere and the methodology work for everyone. Come and try!
Emma Taylor: My daughters have been attending Allied Self Protection APES from the day it started and they love it! It's a friendly family run class (Lesley and Steve are just the best) and has a great group of kids that attend, they emphasise team work and discipline which is brilliant. This has helped my girls grow in confidence and this growth has been recognised at school. My girls have tried lots of different groups/classes but none really stuck but here they learn self defence skills in a fun and engaging way and they always look forward to the next lesson. I highly recommend this to anyone.
Mark Tunn: I've studied martial arts, in different forms, for many years now. Starting with traditional Japanese arts through to mixed martial arts. The self defence principles taught at Allied Self Protection are, without a doubt, the most effective and realistically applicable for any real life situation, including focusing on the psychological factors at play. It doesn't matter if you are an Olympic Athlete or the other end of the scale, the core principles are designed to suit any person, any physique, any ability. For all people, at any level, this is the place I would recommend. Taught by two helpful and very approachable people in Ste and Les, it is the training I have always wanted.
Paul Bedford: If you want to learn something that is REALLY functional on the street and that is taught in a safe and friendly environment by qualified professionals then Allied Self Protection is for you. I've trained in the martial arts for decades and this genuinely is effective self protection that is quickly and easily learnt. And they also have classes especially for kids because they they need to be taught differently to adults.Steve and Lesley are great Instructors and classes are fun as well as functional. They are also starting a martial art / kickboxing class soon so I may try that to increase my fitness too!

Zenshin Martial Arts - Colton Hills: what do users think?
Bob Knowles: 5+ stars for Zenshin!!!I simply cannot recommend this Martial Arts club highly enough. Zenshin are arguably, one of the best styles and systems around today. So what’s different about the club? (In my opinion) it’s the way in which they encourage and develop in children and young people. I mean, how do you get your young ones away from social media now days and into something that not only develops them physically, but also emotionally and mentally for preparation for the world as it is today…….? The development programmes that Zenshin have for the little ones don’t only keep them keen as they continuously strive and achieve their goals, it also provides leadership and more importantly in today’s day and age, confidence and discipline, the attributes that are unfortunately missing from many young people lives due to social media trolling and the lack of (real people) social stimulation. This club isn’t like many others whom seemed to have tried to copy what Zenshin do…!. Zenshin have their own way of doing things and if you (as a parent or guardian) see these types of child development programmes in other Karate clubs, specifically in the Midlands area, there is a high chance it has been copied from Zenshin. Zenshin doesn’t only develop your child in the Dojo, as part of their cutting edge development programmes you can also expect to see improvements in your children’s school reports (both academically and behaviourally), as well as them helping out around the home (e.g. washing up, homework, cleaning etc). These are all part of the leadership programmes that you can expect when you enrol with Zenshin.Having personally trained with many different Martial Arts clubs and systems over the years, what Zenshin have built is second to none!!
Cy Wood: A member of Zenshin for 20 years. A family of people. More that just a club. Very welcoming and taught me displine and fantastic self defence skills as well as the karate. Would recommend to anyone of any age
Edd Smewing: Expert teachers and a great atmosphere. What more could you ask
Duncan Saunders: The quality of any Martial Arts establishment is measured by the teaching, and this is very high quality.
Georgina Iddles: A very professionally-run Karate Club where the instructors are friendly and approachable and (of course) extremely knowledgeable in the art of Karate. This particular dojo is a favourite, it's spacious and the acoustics are good so you can hear what your Sensei is saying. I have Zenshin to thank for building my confidence and giving me the knowledge and ability to defend myself (I did need that self-defence knowledge once, and yes it worked).
jason asbury: Excellent Club! Well run, very professional. Highly recommend to anyone.
Leon Hudson: I have to say this is an amazing club! Wish i could give it more than 5 stars! Began my Karate journey with them over 20 years ago eventually gaining my black belt through sheer grit, determination, encouragement and A* class teachings from the Sensei's that made up the club! I dont train as much as i used to, due to geographical locations, however whenever there is a special class or seminar that i can make...im there! Welcomed with open arms! As thats whats Zenshin is...a family! From Ogs to newbeis! Ive trained in dojos as far away as London and those other clubs dont have a patch on this one! Learning a martial art is an important life skill that everyone should have...ZENSHIN do this perfectly...there is something for everyone, tailor made classes for your little ninjas right up to the older end of the spectrum! Everyone has a great time learning with Zenshin! Cannot praise the hardwork and dedication of all the sensei’s that teach here! A* club!!
Ali Singh: Average club - its ok nothing special , don't do weapons class or ladies self defense although advertised , lots of people have left the club recently don't know why - teachers are good and dedicated. the kids enjoy
Jon Williams: Zenshin is a friendly Karate school. Our entire family regularly attends classed and our fitness strength and flexibility has increased tenfold. Karate will teach your children respect, self belief and determination. I cannot recommend Zenshin highly enough.
