Providers on the Early Years Register will normally be inspected at least once within a 6-year window.

We will prioritise the first inspection of newly registered providers on the Early Years register. This will normally be within 30 months of their registration date.

Good or outstanding - We will inspect them at least once within a 6-year window from their last inspection.

Requires improvement - We usually re-inspect all childminders, pre-school provision and nursery provision within 12 months of the latest inspection.

Inadequate - We re-inspect all provision within six months of the latest inspection.

Group provision will normally receive a telephone call at around midday on the working day before the start of the inspection.

Group providers that do not operate regularly, will usually receive a call no more than five days before the inspection.

Each year, we inspect 1 in 10 of those who are only on the Childcare Register.

We do not inspect any provider on the Childcare Register until it has been registered for at least 3 months unless we receive information about possible non-compliance.

We will usually only inspect a provider on the Childcare Register once in any 12-month period unless we receive concerns.

For inspections of providers of childcare on domestic premises that operate regularly, we will carry out an unannounced inspection.

We are Jane and Tim Thornton, OFSTED registered childminders who are fully insured through the National Childminding Association NCMA of which we are also members.

I, (Jane) am also an approved accredited childminder on a Quality Assured Trio Childminding Network

I also Started Childminding in december 1993 and Tim Joined me in 2005.

We both enjoy childminding very much and feel the children benefit from having both male and female carers. We have 3 grown up children, Sam 21, Chris 20 and Melissa 18 years old. Sam and chris no longer live at home, we have just recently become very proud Grandparents.

The whole of our home and garden are Ofsted registered safe for the children.

Our Registration allows us to care for a maximum of 12 children under the age of 8, of whom only 6 children can be aged under 5. Of these only 2 maybe under the age of 1. We may also care for children over 8 as long as it does not adversely affect the care of the younger children.

Our normal opening hours are Monday through to Friday from 7.30 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. (unless agreed otherwise).

Evening or weekend care is not normally available, but we may be able to accommodate your requirements in special cases.

Evening Babysitting can also be arranged as and when needed, Jane, Sam and Melissa are all CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) checked and are available upon request.

We offer both full and part time care, before and after school care, term time only or holidays only and can also cater for shift workers.

Qualifications are always kept up to date and we also attend regular training courses and conferences to ensure we are complying with the latest regulations.

We encourage home based childcare as a personal approach to your child’s needs and sense of belonging, giving you ‘Peace of Mind’.

The first Trees Day Care Nurseries first opened it’s doors in 1990. Now with over 30 years in Swindon, The Trees are a highly respected and very experienced nursery group in Wiltshire. The nursery opens all year round. Sessions are from 8am to 6pm, including out-of-school care. The nursery receives funding to provide free early education to children aged two, three and four. It is able to support children with special educational needs and/or disabilities and children who are learning English as an additional language. The nursery employs experienced qualified staff as well as apprentices. Each nursery has a cook and a maintenance person. Both Managers, Jo and Michelle, invite you to visit their nurseries in Quarry Road and Oxford Road, to see the facilities they have to offer and to ask any questions you may have.

Our attractive listed building used to be the vicarage for St Marks Church and, having been converted and specifically adapted for nursery use, it now provides a secure, light and happy environment for children and staff.

Open: 7 days per week 24 hrs per day, our team is here to support the needs of the family and the children, we are open 51 weeks a year (however should your family have additional needs we will happily discuss this with you to ensure your needs are met wherever possible) Furthermore we recognise that as a supplier of a service such as this we need to recognise the needs of those families who work shifts or miss out on valuable overtime opportunities or second income jobs because of the lack of childcare provision.. this is no longer a problem with us.
