Harpreet Gill: Service is very poor for a such a reputable company. You spend so much money for a good service and we got the complete opposite they messed up on surgury and appointment dates 4 times, once or twice you can understand errors happen but 4 times was ridiculous -especially when you arrange for time off work for recovery, transport and childcare just to be messed around multiple times. We’ve ended up being refunded the deposit now but definitely would not recommend based on what we saw.
Emy Clarke: Wow. Seamless from start to finish. I was in very safe hands, felt comfortable and confident. The procedure was amazingly quick and my vision is better than 20/20 going from wearing glasses every waking minute for both distance and using computers etc. Finance was easy to arrange with 10 interest free payments. I know around 5 other people who have all gone with Optical Express and all had positive experiences. I just wish I’d had it done sooner! Thank you Optical Express.

Everything was explained and made simple through the process, even throughout my surgery I had a small issue and the surgeon was explained what was happening and made sure that I did not panic. Obviously the price of laser eye surgery is quite costly but comparing it too the cost of glasses and contact lenses through the years it was an easy choice. Thank you Optical Express

Staff at the clinic were friendly and professional. I visited the Oxford and Swindon clinics. Highly recommended. Vision is now definitely better than 20/20.Update: 5 months in and all well.

Cannot fault my experience, I had surgery on the 15th January, my vision is now 20/10 which is absolutely amazing.My next day follow up showed some inflammation on my right eye, they were on it straight away upped my drops and booked an additional appointment to check on it.Highly recommend, it's changed my life for the better my only regret is not doing it sooner.
Ian McGregor: I have been suffering from cataracts in both eyes for a number of years to the point that I had to stop driving. I did some research and decided on Optical Express because they have the latest techniques and because I hoped to have multifocal lenses implanted.On the day of the procedure the optometrist was not sure about multifocal because she could not see the backs of my eyes due to the cataracts. The surgeon reviewed this and we decided to go for multifocals anyway.The results have been incredible. I now have 20/20 vision which was beyond my wildest expectations. Fantastic!

Andrea Parkinson: I am leaving this review 2 and a half weeks post lens replacement surgery with a multi focal lens. I had this in Bristol, after many years of living with severe short sightedness and an astigmatism, that was frustrating and, although, I wore contact lenses most of the time, my vision was often impaired by dry eyes etc.My initial consultation was, conveniently, in Swindon. This was very professional and, although I knew it was a sales job, I felt I could easily say no and that my suitability for the procedure was well considered. I was called the next day and booked, without pressure, a consultation with the Surgeon. I was given details of him and was able to look him up on the GMC, reassuring myself somewhat.Attending this consultation was a little nerve wracking as the Surgeon was very honest in his explanation of possible risks and the outcome but I was still under no obligation to have the procedure. My eyes were scanned thoroughly with all sorts of machines and I was asked various medical questions. Again everything was very professional as well as very slick, smart and suitably friendly.My procedure was carried out the following week. On my request I had one eye (the non dominant eye) done the day before the other. I was told to expect to be in the clinic for up to 4 hours. Actually I was only there about 2 hours each time, as again everything was on time and well organised. Yet again, my eyes received a thorough check; I was seen by a nurse and the anaesthetist, who took my blood pressure etc; the surgeon who checked everything off; an optometrist ... I was well looked after. The procedure itself was completely painless, having had anaesthetic drops in and, also a light sedative. I was aware of what was going on and everything was explained to me, but I felt calm and confident. The procedure probably only took about 15 minutes in total for each eye and after a check I was free to go. I had a dressing on for 4 hours and then an eye shield to wear for a week. I was amazed when the dressing came off, that I could see almost perfectly. Within 2 days, another check up and a vision test and I was declared to have 20-20 vision and was able to drive. Any irritation cleared with the drops given within 2 weeks.My sight is far better than expected for distance and reading. Hopefully I shall never wear glasses again. The process was never over sold to me and I think the approach by the Surgeon and the whole team was very fair and took account of the fact that, like all medical procedures, the outcome can vary. I highly recommend Optical Express for their care and, particularly, their honest approach.

Daniela Carcea: I would NOT recommend the Contact Lens Direct Programme!! In case you have any issue with them, you will have endless conversations with their call centre team with no results. I have a contract for over one year and even though I said during the trial that the contact lenses are too strong for me and I can't work with them on the computer they weren't changed and no other trial was offered. I tried to wear the contact lenses only in weekends and when I was driving but I'm not a driver, I work 5 days a week with a computer so I had to go back to my old glasses. After one year I had another check and everything sounded prommising but transformed in a huge dissapointment. I ended up paying for lenses and waiting for more than 5 weeks to be delivered and even though I had a new eye check and the prescription should be different I received the old prescription for another 3 months. I say "I should have" a new prescription because I received no IScan/eye care report after my last eye check nor new contact lenses trial. Also I sent back a full pack for the previous 3 months and the pack was lost, nobody knows what happened with my return or when the replacements will be delivered. Now I've been waiting for 6 months worth of contact lenses but there is no hope: this is a lost cause. I called them every week, even twice a week and nothing, I did a complaint by e-mail and now I have to wait another 20 working days for a respons while they are "investigating" my case. On top of that I asked to cancel my direct debit and I've been promised to receive the contract terms and cancelation procedure by e-mail and as I was expecting, I received no e-mail from them. In the meantime I had no choice but to get another apointment with a different optician so I can get the right prescription and contact lenses.
Ray Jenkins: Very satisfied with the treatment I have received both with the way it was explained to me and the way it was administered.The result of my treatment is very impressive. When not wearing either glasses or contact lenses I've had very poor vision all my life. Now after 77 years I can wake up in the morning and see clearly without either.A big thank you to OE staff at Swindon and Bristol.

baz6755: Only gave 1 star as wouldn't allow zero. First visit in the two and a half hours waiting they got my prescription wrong. Went back booked first appointment of the day 8am didn't open doors till nearly 8:10am so already running late from first appointment sent to same optometrist again even though they said it would be someone different. Got the prescription wrong again went to two other places and the prescription were the same but different to spec savers. Went in for my refund and only refunded the glasses not the eye test even though it was wrong twice. My advice would be pay a little more and go to Leightons.

Mohan S.: Review 13/03/2023.I have to maintain this review at only two stars.I went back to Specsavers a few months ago and they did a test and I chose to put new lenses into an old pair of frames I had which were still in good condition. I am pleased to say they did a pretty much 5 star job on the lens production and were better spec than Vision Express and I am still wearing them. HOWEVER this Swindon Town Centre Specsavers branch still has some of the same problems as follows:- They can't handle the customer demand. Full stop.Long waits on telephone to answer (if anyone picks up). When I made the decision to go back to Specsavers, I was met with a man at their reception who said no one available to talk to me, everyone is busy. (Its more like a check point where they decide if they let you in or not. And less like a reception.) He then agreed that I should make an appointment just to have a chat. I then left, and whilst still in the high street, I called in. No one picked up. Then a lady called me back a few minutes later and said they should not say to make an appointment to have a chat but that she will make an appointment for someone to speak to me today in the branch in about an hour. Then I walked back to the branch and back to the check point inside the front door and (a lady this time) had problems finding that appointment I just made. I was on time. I then had to wait there about half an hour until someone came to me to discuss what I needed.- They still have that odd sign standing outside the front door prompting people to book online. Not very welcoming. Why bother having a branch if you're going to prompt visitors to book online via a Smartcode barcode.- On my last visits a few months ago, the interior is dated and old especially upstairs waiting area. Downstairs waiting area has an aircon system on the ceiling which is black-sooted up beside all it's vent outlets. Not clean.I waited longer than expected appointment time on all recent visits.- I am not 100% on whether or not they clean all the test equipment straight after each customer uses it. But I'll accept the yes they gave me when I questioned them. I ordered my lenses on January.Called to the store many times, each time I was told the lenses were in their way and I just need to be patient.After 3 weeks waiting I went to the store and discovered the order was cancelled because the lenses were discontinued (nobody made me aware).Then I was offered new lenses but I had to try them, so they ordered the trial ones.The trial arrived and I was in isolation due covid so I asked if they could post them to my home and they said they will.1 week later nothing arrived in the post so I called and the lady on the phone told me they hadn't posted them yet, apologized and told me she will do it straight away.4 days later and still no lenses.I went to the store, claim refund and I asked for my prescription.Surprise! The prescription date was expired... So or they falsified the date so I couldn't use my prescription in other optician or they "ordered" lenses using an expired prescription.Awful customer care, awful service I'm really disappointed.I will never go back nor recommend it to anyone.

Michael Cotton: I purchased new spectacles at Vision Express (VE) in Bath in March, but unfortunately broke the ear hooks (temple clips) recently. VE in Swindon told me these spectacles were no longer produced and therefore I should need to insert new lenses at a cost of c.£250-300. VE Bath said the same. This anyway proved impossible. So, despite a very minor break at the joint angle, the spectacles were effectively condemned. I subsequently was able to have them repaired in 3days in Switzerland (where the cost of living is at least twice that in England) for £60.The customer repair service at VE therefore leaves much to be desired, so customers need to beware!

Vanda Verbias: I had a swollen,red eye for a couple of days that also felt gritty.I went to the pharmacy and ask them what should I do?They told me to go over to vision express to get it checked out.I spoke to the people out front.There was no mention of payment at any time.They took me in the back and checked my eye.Told me I had an infection and I need medicine and they also recommended to get some kind of eye drops.Then when I walked out they told me I had to pay £25.£15 for the examination and almost £10 for the bloody eye drops.Not going there ever again.I was completely blindsided.If I was told it cost that much I would’ve gone to the GP for free.😡

The staff are friendly do their best with what appears to be very limited stocks of frames for Men with few cheaper models. The Optician who did my test was efficient and straight forward, he was also more friendly on my second visit.

Sarah Maggs: I was happy with the service provided by the Stratton store, however I wish I had gone for the anti glare as it is a little problematic not having it.

Dracoola: Eye test was good and the amazing pictures of the inside of my eye were great.Stood looking at glasses so long I ran out of time as all stuff were busy so I left with my prescription and bought no glasses.Styles not to my taste, designer glass brands not good and no tinted colours of lenses
Keith Anderson: Wife had problem with her eye and the optician saw her without prior appointment and had very good advice to solve problem. Went again today to see if they could mend my wife's glasses unfortunately not but got great half price replacement many thanks Kelly. Also realised that my glasses frame had a problem and Alika fixed them immediately for no charge, Many thanks great customer service.
Angela Clifford: An opticians is an opticians but as ever it is the staff who make the place. The staff here were helpful and tolerant of my multiple visits to decide what frames I liked and deal would help me most.

Jean Wilkins: Called Specsavers today and spoke with Hannah. Asked when my eye test was due and was told June 2023, optician said 2 years between visits. I explained that there was Glaucoma in the family and had always been seen yearly. Her reply was outstanding, well I can book you in for an appointment but if your prescription hasn't changed you will have to pay. I am probably being naive but had Hannah used some initiative and checked with the optician the outcome could have been different. I said I would go elsewhere and she cheerfully replied 'Okay then'. What a complete fiasco!!have checked wih
Richard: More convenient than going into the centre of Swindon and plenty of free parking, pity it is so short of space in the old shoe repair area.
Lucy Smith: I had 2 set reading and 1 long distance. I asked the girl to put the long distance in a blue case and the reading ones in a black case. When in store I tried on the distance glasses and told I couldn't see and it was worse then without glasses. She said to give it some time for my eyes to adjust. I then returned the glasses to store for a refund as I was not getting on with them. Then to be told that I wasn't returning the long distance glasses but the reading glasses! No wonder I couldn't see long distance with them in the store. So went home and tried them all on again and sure enough the distance ones were fine. Basically, she gave me the wrong glasses in the store to try on for long distance and put them in the wrong case. Very annoying and a waste of my time..And not very professional...
Tan P: 10 mins for an eye test that delivered a significant change in prescription... must be joking. Vision Express had me for two 1 hour sessions a few years ago.

Tracey Mansfield: Very thorough eye examination, found out I have cataracts and that's why my vision is deteriorating. They informed my doctor straight away and I have my first appointment at the eye clinic in the next 2 weeks. Excellent service 😁

John Read: First time using Specsavers and was very pleased with the whole experience. Friendly staff and optician, eye test excellent, everything was explained and questions answered. Frames selected, many are 2 for 1 with an assistant there to help if needed. About a week later glasses collected, 3 pairs tried on and adjusted, I had them altered a couple of days later. Well pleased .
