Swindon Museum & Art Gallery: what do users think?
Linda Ford: There is a exhibition at the moment from Severnake community centre, there is a show case of knitted famous dolls as well as other things. The museum has now been moved to the first floor of the Civic Offices.
Simon Hancock: was nice place
Francis dukes: Amazing friendly staff and a good atmosphere to relax and enjoy the history of Swindon
Robert Sadler: Nicely displayed work. Would be nice to see more of the collection.
Mark Wilson: Brilliant for an afternoon.
Wendy Braidford: A hidden gem in Swindon. They have various events for children in the holidays and plenty to see there. It's quite small so it's about an hour for a visit, 2 if you have to argue with a small child over gift shop items. Definitely worth a visit.
Alan P: Very interesting, an amazing collection
E Chivers: Quite a hidden gem, free entry and lots to see inside, room after room of interesting items and art. Mostly surprised to see an Egyptian mummy. Not everything relates to Swindon directly, but lots of it does. Happy to have discovered this.
Chris Shakespeare: Lovely small museum. Very warm, fun stuff for the kids and the staff are first class
Bolt Gaming: Very interesting and enjoyable, would recommend
Tony Zigler: Odd collection of art and history. The top floor gallery is bright and welcoming, but some of the smaller rooms seem a bit confused and dark. Free admission though so can't complain.
Matt Hadgraft: Careful of the huge massive crocodile haha love it always a good visit
singh sukhwinder: nice gallery
Chris Endersby: Nice to see some fine art
J Bart: A lovely place to visit for all ages. Whether a lover of history or art, you'll find something here to keep you interested. The staff are friendly and helpful, as well as knowledgeable. Would definitely recommend.
121 Swindon Taxis: Great art collection
Life Of Silence: The place is good. Has alot to offer and worth a visit if you come to Swindon. Its free and good for child like adults.
Geoffrey Bedford: This is a good educational tour for the little ones
Blase Mascarenhas: Very educational.
Ashleigh Ward: Lovely little stop for an afternoon out. Informative and fun for kids too with activities they can do along the way.
Elena Lopez Fernandez: Museo de la ciudad, entrada gratis. Puedes apreciar animales disecados. Es un museo de ciencia natural junto a una galería de arte.

Hannah Wild: Came here for the first time for a few years. It was better than I remember, there is loads of interesting facts and information on how the trains were built and maintained. It explores the history of the Great Western railway and the companies history and links with Issambard Kingdom Brunel. It's great for children as well as adults with lots of hands-on activities. Richard Bossom: Visited STEAM with some friends on a day trip from the Poole area. It's an interesting museum with lots of things to see. As well as lots of exhibits there are several videos to watch that give an insight into what it was like working in the Swindon works. There are also some interactive displays including driving a steam engine and working a signal box. There are some locomotives to see that would benefit from having some of the parts labelled with what they are and what they do. A good day out if you have an interest in history and/or railways. One thing to note, if you travel to Swindon by train two adults can enter for the price of one. Loo
Sanjoy Modak: Great to go back in time and understand the history of GWR. Also, there were some great opportunities to view the broad gauge and some of the people expereiences during that period.Visited on Public holiday Wait time No wait Reservation recommended No …More

We loved the children's activity areas and wooden toys. The exhibited trains are accessible and it was great to drive a train on the simulator. We will definitely visit again in the future.Visited on Weekday Wait time No wait Reservation recommended No …More

Paul H: A very well presented and fascinating museum with welcoming and helpful staff. A destination for anyone interested in social history and/ or how the railways (and their multitude of component parts) were designed, built, operated, used and promoted in the age of steam. Comprehensive and well laid-out exhibits. The stories follow a logical order and the information provided is concise and pertinent for the lay person - including well designed panels (pictures and text) and screens with video clips incorporating personal testimonies of people who worked on the Great Western Railway. One wow factor is the display of the big and impressive steam locomotive - Caerphilly Castle - built at the Swindon Works (where the museum is sited) but there is also so much more. The venue felt clean and well maintained. Visitors to the museum get free parking at the adjacent Designer Outlet, which is also useful.
Marc hanssens: Great museum showing an important part of Swindons history. Very well done and recommended for young and old.Visited on Weekday Wait time 1 hr+ Reservation recommended No …More

There is very limited, untelegraphed parking (mainly lay-bys on the roadside) and the walk up the hill is at a gradient of around 5/10.
