The Wiltshire Psychology Service is a private and independent psychology practice comprising a team of Chartered Clinical Psychologists.. We are based in both North and West Wiltshire, and are pleased to offer services for adults, children and adolescents.

We provide psychological assessment and treatment for a variety of problems, including stress-related difficulties, depression, postnatal depression, and mood disorders. Our practice offers treatment for anxiety disorders such as obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) and phobias. Our psychologists provide specific therapy for low self-esteem, low confidence, and trauma.

Therapies offered include Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT),Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), Schema Therapy, and Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT).

We are pleased to offer services for adults, children, and adolescents. We are based in Wiltshire, with offices at both Brinkworth House and at The Glove Factory.

Brinkworth House is located in the village of Brinkworth, 6 miles from Junction 16 of the M4, between Swindon and Malmesbury.

The Glove Factory is located in the village of Holt near Bradford-on-Avon, and is just a short journey from Trowbridge, Melksham and Bath.

We are also proud to offer an Autism Assessment Service for children and adolescents who may have difficulties suggestive of a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). She has over 17 years experience in working with individuals who are experiencing and presenting with a range of psychological difficulties, including depression, trauma related mental health difficulties, anxiety, and other emotional and behavioural difficulties, such as anger, self-harm, sexualised and harmful sexual behaviour.

Mette has a particular interest in working with children and young people, including those in care and those with multiple and complex needs.

Mette has published articles in peer-reviewed psychological journals, written book chapters, presented at multiple national conferences, provided supervision, training and consultancy to other professionals and lectures at both Reading and Winchester University.

Mette believes that each individual is different and thus works collaboratively with each person to find the right approach for them.

It is estimated that mental health problems affect about 1 in 10 children and young people. They include depression, anxiety, trauma-related difficulties, ADHD and conduct disorder, and are often a direct response to what is happening in their lives. Alarmingly, the Mental Health Foundation estimate that 70% of children and young people who experience a mental health problem have not had appropriate interventions at a sufficiently early age. This is of particular concern as it is estimated that 50% of mental health problems are established by age 14 and 75% by age 24. and that only 25% of children who need treatment receive it (Public Health England, 2016)

Sadly these difficulties are even more pronounced among children and young people in care, where it is estimated that at least 60% suffer some form of emotional or mental health illness. It is thus not surprising that the life outcomes for looked after children continue to be worse than for children who are not in care.

It has been found that early intervention can reduce the risk of young people falling into crisis and of longer term interventions in adulthood.
