A rustic secluded cottage in the heart of Clyne Valley Country Park, approximately a 15 min drive (3 miles) from our main farm site. The Keeper’s Cottage was built in the mid-1800s as the gamekeeper’s cottage for the Clyne Estate. Barn Owl Lodge was built as an extension to the original Cottage. The rural setting means that there are many local walks and mountain bike trails nearby. The location is also perfectly suited as a base to explore the Gower Peninsula.

The Estate has a rich history and when it was owned by the Vivian family of Copperopolis fame many dignitaries were welcomed to enjoy hunting deer in the woods, often taking tea on the lawn of The Keeper’s Cottage. It is said that these dignitaries included former British Prime Ministers Stanley Baldwin & Sir Winston Churchill, and also royalty including Prince Edward who later became King Edward VII, & his grandson Prince Edward who later briefly became King Edward the VIII.

Outside there is a lawn area with a stone BBQ. There is a large grassy paddock surrounding the cottage so lots of space for children and dogs to burn off their energy. The area is fenced but not fully dog proof. Note: The area is not partitioned off from the outdoor area next to Barn Owl Lodge. We ask that guests respect each other’s space, and share the beautiful surroundings with each other. You are enveloped by 700 acres of Country Park so space is not an issue!

The Cottage is accessed via a private 0.8 mile long stone track through the woods. There is a 10 mile per hour speed limit. We suggest you take it slow as it is used by dog walkers, horse riders, hikers, and cyclists etc. The only vehicular access allowed is for guests staying at the two woodland cottages. So be mindful that some users are not used to encountering cars on the track! As long as you drive sensibly the track is no problem for most vehicles. However as it is unpaved, and there may be potholes, it is not suitable for cars with very low ground clearance. So leave the low rider supercar at home!

The Cottage sleeps 8 guests. If you book Barn Owl Lodge next door they can interconnect (via the hallway) to sleep up to 16.

Next to the cottage is a fenced paddock (approx 35m x 35m). This paddock can be booked in advance by cottage guests to bring their horse(s) on holiday with them. If this is the case then only the cottage guests (and their horses!) who have reserved it may use it. We may also use it for grazing for our own horses. In this scenario the paddock will not be accessible for cottage guests. Proof of up-to-date vaccinations and worming will be required. Guests are responsible for ensuring the track to the cottage is suitable for their horsebox and trailer, that the grazing is suitable, and that the fencing is adequate (we suggest you bring electric fencing, water buckets and hay). Can you walk between the main farm site and the Woodland Cottages?

The drive takes approximately 15 mins. If you would prefer to walk it will take around 30 to 40 minutes, or around 20 minutes to cycle. We can give you directions or you can find them in the Guidebook after you book. There is strictly NO access across the fields & farmland.

Cosy, comfortable and clean, our traditional stone self catering cottages are heated by green energy and equipped to a high standard. The properties enjoy a fairy-tale setting, located around a courtyard alongside the picturesque River Clydach where wildlife flourishes. Surrounding parkland gives way to a romantic backdrop of high blue pennant sandstone hills. Each self catering cottage contains a well equipped kitchen and laundry facilities, with a major 24 hour supermarket just over a mile away in the town of Pontardawe. There is parking right outside the cottages, free internet and good phone signal. Four of the cottages have log burners, allowing guests to relax in front of a fire after a busy day exploring the area or visiting tourist attractions. Guests are welcome to explore more than hundred acres of private countryside with panoramic views of the Welsh countryside – the farm trail starts on your cottage doorstep! We are proud of our Visit Wales star rating and enjoy welcoming guests to the farm – many of whom come back year after year.

Some of our cottages are dog friendly. The walks from the doorstep of the cottage mean that you never have to leave the farm if you so wish – the local supermarket will deliver supplies and you can just spend your time relaxing and exploring the surrounding countryside. That’s assuming that your dog doesn’t ask you to take him to the beach which is always a popular option! Many of our guests found us by looking for dog friendly gower cottages and found that they can enjoy the best of both worlds at the farm – trips to the dog friendly beaches on the Gower as well as walks in the hills. All this in a secluded and peaceful location that’s convenient to modern amenities and world class tourist attractions.

Our holiday cottages are in an ideal location for a mountain biking break in Wales – Afan Forest and Bike Park Wales both being easily accessible. Our accommodation is popular with MTB enthusiasts not just because of its central South Wales location – as well as plenty of parking, secure bike storage and somewhere to wash your gear – our farm is just five minutes from a 24 hour supermarket and there are some great curry houses in the village! King Arthur's Gallery has a romantic feel and is popular with honeymoon couples. The beautiful gallery is made from hardwood, reclaimed from a local chapel and carefully crafted to create a special atmosphere. The impressive King size bed makes it perfect for 2, however the cottage can comfortably sleep 4 if required. A private patio overlooks the Lougher Estuary and keep an lookout for Exclaibur!

Merlin's Cabin set apart from the cottages and is secluded and fresh with its own private gardens and veranda. It has 2 bedrooms and all the comforts you need for a week in the country. It feels cosy and is nestled in amongst the surrounding fields, woodland and farmland.

Lancelot’s Stable Retreat is very spacious and comfortable. It has a homely look and feel. It's a perfect space to fully relax in. The French doors open onto the private patio and the green expanse of the gardens and woods. It has views of the Lougher Estuary. It is pet friendly and has wheelchair access.

Guinavere’s Cottage is a modern and bright cottage with two bedrooms - a double bedroom plus a separate room with bunk beds. It opens out onto the patio with views of the estuary and is the nearest to the hot tub. It is well positioned to escape from everyday stress and is ideal for a family.
