Websters Ropery: what do users think?
Jill Borsberry: We had the most beautiful wedding at Websters Ropery and couldn't fault the team of people running it all! Fully recommend for your special day :)
Damian Bloomfield: Myself and my Wife Natalie were married at Websters Ropery, I have to say that this venue is outstanding, the team that works here are without a doubt the best hosts you could ever ask for. From the Planning and lead up where Lauren was great, listening and helping my wife coordinate her plans, to the staff working the day who made sure that we had everything we needed to have our perfect day. Always attentive, always checking in that we were enjoying the occasion and just a friendly and welcoming group of people.Sean, the Co-owner and our host put so much effort in executing what my wife envisioned for her day, from welcoming us in the morning to seeing us through the evening when we let our hair down he made sure that we had everything we needed, we can't thank him enough.Tim, The other Co-owner and brother of Sean worked tirelessly in the kitchen and we have to say with the inclusion of our guests too that the food was phenomenal, the belly pork starter being a stand out dish. The brothers have really cracked what it is to host a wedding to remember and we can't sing theirs or the staff's praises enough.Thank you so much for giving us the day we always hoped for and we wish you all the success you deserve, I urge anyone looking at this venue to do so with the confidence that they will do everything in their power to make sure you have your perfect day!

Jeanette Peel: Recently attended our niece's wedding here. Lovely venue and staff.
Ronnie Mavin: excellent night friendly staff
trevor hanson: Webster's Ropery, also known as Deptford Patent Ropery on the River Wear did in fact make actual ropes!Established in 1793 the company reputedly made some of the ropes for Nelson's Flagship HMS Victory.1804 Production reached 800 tons per year.1891 they produced a steel rope 4 miles long and weighing 20 tons, for a colliery in south west England. The cranes at the yard and at the goods station were unable to lift the load all at once, so it was made up into three coils, allowing the slack between them to hang, and the coils were lifted one at a time.
Clare of Clare's Cakery: What a gem in Sunderland, a historical building now with new purpose right on the water, fabulous Wedding venue and party place.

Grand Hotel Sunderland: what do users think?
William Bain: This venue is classed as an "elite venue" it is a bit tired and could do with some renovation. The hotel is going cashless in the near future, and It is not possible to charge to your room. Also, the bar shuts at 11pm promp, and there is no room service. The reception and leisure centre staff are friendly and helpful. The service in the bar is slow and relatively friendly depending on who is working, although as I mentioned, 11pm is closing time, and the shutters are down at 11pm and not a second after. Again, the service in the restaurant is slow but friendly. Be aware that breakfast finishes at 9 am. on weekdays and 10 am at the weekend. The best thing about the hotel is the location, which is right on the seafront and is within walking distance of several decent restaurants, and bars which are open later than the hotel.
Thein Ohn: Good size room. Near to the beach and many cafes and restaurants nearby. 3pm quarrel in the corridor and the clangs outside in the back yard ..are negative points..
Andrew Small: The grand hotel is in a great location for the local attractions. It could be a 4 star for amenities however rooms and decor is dated, details are missed when cleaning and repairs are evident.Staff were friendly and couldn't complain at the general comfort of the room.Bar is expensive, £5.25 a pint and double gin lemonade over £10.This hotel features a nice pool great for kids however the hotel has chlorine scent. Some investment wouldn't go a miss the whole sea side is improving year on year so will only continue to attract more people
Dawid Dziunikowski: Good price, clean 👌Rooms: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Location: 5/5 …More
Tom Keating: Very friendly welcome and great staff service. My visiting group liked everything, and location on the promenade with sea and beach view is a real bonus.Hotel highlights Great view, Great value …More
T Rev: Booked in here for two days, used to be the Marriot hotel but now The Grand Hotel (Owned by the Britannia Group). Normally hotels owned by Britannia are dilapidated and neglected. This hotel for the money (£131 for two days!) is extremely good value for money. Rooms are dated but perfect for my use. Clean rooms, spacious and the staff are friendly. Plus a pool, sauna, small gym, steam room and jacuzzi. Plus you’re on our beautiful coast, literally metres from Seaburn beach/Roker beach which is beautiful.
Thomas Henry: Does an awful Sunday carvery at £12.95 mostly warm soft congealed veg. Place is dirty, dated and rundown, having had the dinner decided to escape the music to the seating area at the back which stunk of bleach. Don't know how the people running this venue can't see what's wrong.
Tracie Louise: Fabulous stay, gorgeous room and amazing swimming pool had a wonderful time here with my OHRooms: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Location: 5/5Hotel highlights Great value …More
Fred Scott: Stayed recently, nice rooms, good meals lovely locationRooms: Very nice rooms good selection of types availableNearby activities: Beach Italian restaurants amusements pub grub town centre 3 miles awayWalkability: Puds, restaurants beach on doorstep
Steven: Enjoyed a 1 night stay here, rooms could be modernised more but ideal location right next to the beach with fantastic leisure facilities such as the pool, sauna and steam room. The hotel also has a small gym which is useful. Bar downstairs with a happy hour between 4 and 7 where some pints are reduced to £3 a pint. Reception staff very friendly and helpful.
Tim Frost: Adequate but very tired and run down. Needs to be given some attention to general maintenance. We did not eat breakfast as we had not heard good things about it.Also the reception continuously stinks of chlorine (very off putting)There are better hotels in the area.
Lynne Dagg: Food
Lydia Sewe: Nice affordable hotel for a weekend in Sunderland, had a great walk along the sea.should improve the communication with the reception and the sauna.could find towels yet i was told they provided by the sauna reception.Hotel highlights Quiet, Great value …More
allison pearson: Second time of staying at this hotel, have to say the room I had on my first visit was better than my stay this time, not that there were major things wrong but the small things. And maybe I paid for a better room last time I don't know.My strangest problem with the room was that there was only one ceiling light and this was in the first part of the room but going round into the bedroom area there were only lamps, and whilst there was a sofa in the first part of the room the TV was actually sat in the bedroom so if you wanted to watch you had to sit on the bed. Little things.
Sarah marginson: The staff are fantastic, kind and very helpful, in so many ways. I have dietary needs and the staff seemed to bend over backwards to help.🌟🌟🌟sxRooms: 3/5|Service: 5/5|Location: 4/5 …More

South Causey Inn: what do users think?
Helen Watson: My partner and I recently had our wedding in the Farmhouse, from start to finish the whole experience has been fantastic! Special thanks to Stephanie, our wedding co-ordinator Andrew and the lovely young lady who came to ask how the wedding had gone at breakfast. I stayed in the bunkhouse the night before with the bridesmaids and service /meals were superb. Nothing was a problem and I felt in very safe hands. Thank thank, thank you, thank you.. Best day of our lives!! Xxx
Steve: Lovely Vegetarian Breakfast. Dropped in on the off chance with Granddaughter. Place extremely busy with two weddings going on but that didn't detract from the staff being extremely polite and helpful. Served in a timely fashion, breakie was good quality. Always happy to return here for either just a coffee or a quality meal.Food & drinks: Excellent food with good size portion at a decent price.Noteworthy details: Staff are fantastic, attentive and polite. Had a family meal here, you always know you are in safe hands.Highly recommended!

Mark Grey: Took the family here after going to nearby causey arch.We went iust for general food not s stay or anything, but was very impressed (see pics).Even better we had a table outside in the sunshine, and it was so relaxing and peaceful. Would highly recommend. Certainly going back to check out the Sunday dinner as the inside bar and seating area was very cosy looking. Wasn't too bad of a wait considering it looked like a wedding had taken place prior so well done to the staff for keeping the general customers looked after.Nearby activities: Causey arch is a local landmark nearby, of the Old rail system and bridge. Nice for a dog walk or with the kids as you can go down the river.
