Sunderland College Bede Campus: what do users think?
Susannah Moon: This review is based on my daughters first 2 years at college. My daughter studied performing arts with this college, Sheree Rymer was the Head of Faculty and Jonathan was one of my daughters lecturers. My daughter started this course during the onset of Covid which lasted 2 years. She's not a confident girl who managed to make a few friends. Unfortunately, one of these girls had concerning problems at home leaving my daughter worried about her.The girls parents were secretly massaging and calling my daughter asking her questions about her friend (Their daughter who's 17), my daughter told her friend what the parents were saying, so they rang my daughter kicking off which later resulted in them contacting the school requesting their daughter be kept away from mine. Sheree became involved as she was a personal friend of the girls mother and told my daughter she was not allowed to be a friend with this girl outside of college. My daughter was told her grades would be a triple merit, but when this entire thing was happening the tutor Jonathan changed his attitude completely towards my daughter being mean on a regular occasion. They knew she wanted to go to uni so instead they downgraded her marks to passes. But, now these tutors are using her as an example in their performing arts class to encouragethem to do better. I'm sorry but tutors should not be personally getting involved or using this as ammunition to punish people. Taking advantage of their position is disgusting.
Roy Graham: Roy GrahamSee me grils
Cara Taylor: The Health and Social Care department is disgraceful, went there for 2 years and had no support for my disability, they knew I was on chemo and made me walk up to the board in front of the class, gave my physio comfort chair to other students to sit on while I was in the same class as them, they don't allow students helping each other in class.I failed my maths and English gcses but wasn't allowed in the SEN support class despite being autistic and having discalculia.
John Stephens: Welcoming friendly staff and Campus
Lyndsey Jordinson: My son loves going to this collage he is autistic and the teachers are lovely with him
Visvanthan Tharmalingam: My Son love it.
Talha Mahmood Shafi: Best campus for ESOL and GCSE subjects all the Teachers are At their best !!
Marc Hodgkinson: What an absulute shambles! My son was trying to get advice on the right course for his future carreer. We were met with promise of returned phone call that never happen. Career advertised in courses that dont actually cover that subject. This is kids futures and they just cant get their act together to speak and advise them
Irina Kargapolovaite: Very very nice
Thomas Middlemist: Good rockon
Samia jannat: Sunderland college was very good...
lisa Richardson: Great college with very helpful staff.
richard waite: Very friendly staff
Nicole Minchell: my friend a former colleague of yours has been treated horribly i think she didn’t get told until today that she had to leave and they weren’t keeping her when realistically she’s best one there so u better sort u sel out n get a wesh
Joseph McCloud: I applied for English and maths only to be forwarded to Michael hall who works in the Disability department who tries burying things under the rug and keeps me waiting for weeks, months to be placed on a course only to be told that my only option would be emotional and behavioural development.I shouldn't have my ability to choose taking away and being told what course options are available to me, I feel like I'm being treated like a criminal rather than a equal because I have disability I should be supported, advised, not for my name to be somehow blacklisted, flagged to be forwarded to a incompetent disability support team which is trying it's best at the moment from denying potential disabled student applicants the educational opportunity, help they do deserve.
B D: A terrible place to study.
fragile1966: This is Washington Campus at 6:55pm my break is over at 7pm l will not be getting my coffee. There was not any hot food at my 4pm break either. What's going on...
Leona Vale: They offer no support to students who have been victims of abuse or sexual violence. I know from personal experience. They made me sit in the classroom with the perpetrator. I wouldn't recommend this college. Especially Bede Campus.
Niall Black: Studies and staff are brilliant, especially in the sporting department... However, a security staff member stood on my hand during a discussion and the college failed to take appropriate action due to the lack of cameras and witnesses at the time. This has made me feel unsafe to continue my studies there as the security guard in question stares me down each and every time I walk past.Shame that this one incident has caused so much distress made me feel unsafe about a staff member. As the rest of my course and studies has been a pleasure.
Ricky R Richardson: Sunderland College kept me waiting for a year worth of study wasted September 2017 till march off 2018 I had to attend an open event just to get noticed the staff are very unprofessional towards dealing towards students needs such a shame the offer such a variety of courses but an educational facility lacks in its potential Michael Hall the disability advisor kept taking the mick made me feel uncared for neglected and undervalued as a person they said you'll study in September then January then finally I had to go through Michael Hall to get myself enrolled on a course big disappointment.
Sharon Hickman: Bede collage is a good collage especially the foundation learning area. My child had learning barriers and the have helped her to over come them, And gave her confidence and helped over come her anxieties. My second child will be going to this collage in the future.
