Allyson Dovey: Great place to spend a wet Bank Holiday Monday. Lots of interesting exhibits from Mining to Glass and Shipbuilding to Pottery. Loved the life through the 20th century exhibit. The Winter Garden is lovely with some very impressive plants. Not so keen on the cheap plastic dinosaurs, though, and I'm not convinced they do much to keep children interested. We had tea and cake in the cafe which was very nice. Definitely pleased we visited.

Shug Laverty: Great museum in the centre of Sunderland. Fascinating exhibitions of the history of the city and surrounding area. Jewel in the crown is the wonderful Winter Garden. Really well laid out over a fairly compact area with fantastic plants and water features. Shame the lift was out of action to access the sky-walk but did not detract from the visit. Very well worth seeing.
Kerry Daniel: I have been in Sunderland for almost 2 years and never visited, even though it is just a 7-minute walk from my residence. It was a pleasant experience, and I learnt a lot about the heritage of Sunderland.Visited on Weekend Wait time No wait Reservation recommended No …More

Sally Anne: Born and bred in Sunderland, very sad with the condition of some parts of the museum, and the library stock is frankly appallingVisited on Weekday …More
peter smith: I like going to the museum it has a cafe and a library. Cafés gone upmarket and has chicken and chorizo sandwiches instead of bacon lol I guess they can charge more for them. Eight quid for one with a coffee 😳 The libraries ok but is cramped and needs more funding for books I hear we're getting a new one which is great news I'll await developments with interest

Włodzimierz Szperkowski: Nice
david anderson: Very interesting.
David Howard: Artwork is great. Cafe is a joke; I don't think the people working there have ever cleaned a table in their lives. I sat and watched them whilst I waited - twenty minutes - for my bowl of "soup of the day", and if they washed 30% of a particular table, I'd be surprised. Crumbs and liquid left on all the tables. Chairs have all lost their rubber feet, so they squeal constantly on the tiles. Unimpressed, considering £5 for a soup.
D S: Not better than the acropolis
Nasim Reza: Been few times. nice place
Marilyn Fairs: We visited today for the John Peter Askew 'We' exhibition, loved it especially the colours of the changing seasons and the story of family life portrayed in photographs.

The displays are breathtaking, as is the glass blowing demonstration. The center is free. Chris Holmes: Visited this amazing place with my 3 adult daughters as part of my BD weekend treat. If you like glass in any form you'll love this place. We watched a great glass blowing demo where the resident glass sculptor formed a beautiful 'RUBY RUBY RUBY' bowl from a blob of white hot glass "fabulous".The gift shop has a great selection for all tastes and pockets....the marbles section will take you right back the playground. And I have a beautiful blue vase to remind me of a great morning with my girls. Deffo worth a visit 🏺🥂

Uyi Igbinadolor: Lovely place
Tough Claire: We attended for Halloween glass painting on this occasion, have previously come for glass fusion and other craft activities. Staff were friendly and helpful as ever, we enjoyed the craft, completed the trail for some stickers, watched a glass blowing demo, had a drink in the cafe and bought gifts in the shop. Really nice afternoon out as always, highly recommend.
Jordan Wilson: A good day out, the art section of the glass centre is enjoyable and the history is interesting but there isn’t a vast amount to do in there, the cafe makes nice food however it’s a bit on the pricey side I feel, however it is free entry to the centre so that probably balances it out, the 30 minute glassblowing demonstration is solely worth the day there and there are a range of classes that take place which I’m sure would be amazing
Phil Barber: Brilliant place, great demonstrations and good food.
JMC Arts: Everything about this place is great: the live demonstrations, the modern glass design of the whole centre and the actual installations of glass. The food at the cafe was also great. A good place to go if you are fancying a look around
Joshua Dent: Well presented and engaging displays about history as well as a good range of art on display and fantastic demonstrations of various glass forming methods available. Great timeVisited on Weekday Wait time No wait Reservation recommended No …More
s j: Who's responsible for the upkeep of this building? Inside, great, staff, great, ....... outside? It's a mess, rusty exterior, and broken or cracked glass tiles on the roof. The last time I was on the top, you weren't allowed on there .. unsafe, I presume? Lack of upkeep?
George Snowdon: Enjoyed a lovely afternoon looking around Glass centre, learned alot about methods of glass making,+watching the glassmakers making the sculptures, ending up at Cafe talking about experience with family will definitely be back
Nigel Wight: Interesting history of glass in Sunderland and excellent demonstrations. Good cafe and nice to be able to sit outside. Shop not overly exciting. Would visit if in area bit not make a special journey of any distance.Visited on Weekday Wait time No wait Reservation recommended No …More
Janet Thompson: Loved it 😍 educational and informative. Bought my self some jewellery in the shop, had cuppa bacon sandwich in cafe. Well happy 😊Visited on Weekday Wait time No wait Reservation recommended No …More
stuart Wilson: Loved the demonstrations
Paul R: This review covers the cafe within the Glass Centre. The heart of a business is the people. I have deleted my previous review in it's entirety. The new lady who appears to be the manageress and her staff have turned this place around. The coffee whilst not top-notch is better than average. The service much better.Lovely venue always. As a Rokerite I'm very proud to have this cafe in my patch.
Michael Haben: Good cafe - light meals, coffe, or a cold glass of wine in the sun (yes, that happens up here!)
Sara Keogh: A treasure and delight
