We watched a great glass blowing demo where the resident glass sculptor formed a beautiful 'RUBY RUBY RUBY' bowl from a blob of white hot glass "fabulous".The gift shop has a great selection for all tastes and pockets....the marbles section will take you right back the playground. Loved the life through the 20th century exhibit. The Winter Garden is lovely with some very impressive plants. Not so keen on the cheap plastic dinosaurs, though, and I'm not convinced they do much to keep children interested. We had tea and cake in the cafe which was very nice. Definitely pleased we visited.

Shug Laverty: Great museum in the centre of Sunderland. Fascinating exhibitions of the history of the city and surrounding area. Jewel in the crown is the wonderful Winter Garden. Really well laid out over a fairly compact area with fantastic plants and water features. Shame the lift was out of action to access the sky-walk but did not detract from the visit. Very well worth seeing.

This charming pier offers stunning views of the ocean and its surroundings, making it a great place to watch the sunset or simply take a leisurely stroll. One of the best things about Roker Pier is the variety of dining options available. Whether you're in the mood for some fresh seafood, a light snack or a delicious cup of coffee, you'll find plenty of great choices nearby. In addition to the pier, there are plenty of beautiful beaches nearby where you can take your pets for a walk or just soak up the sun. Curtis Barley: Wow. We had a private tour of four with two volunteers walking us through the tunnel into and up the light house. Amazing views and so interesting learning the history of why the pier was needed and how it was built. A completely different perspective of a popular beach walk. Would highly recommend. Volunteer's were full of knowledge preserving a lot of local history. I can imagine this being good for children although i believe they need to be a minimum of 10 years old.

Roker Park: what do users think?
JOHN GLENTON: Park next to the sea, what more could you want 😏
David Tulip: Beautiful local park. Looks amazing in summer/spring
Celeste Morgan: Was a nice area apart from the litter, very disappointed about that but lovely gardens
Trevor Holmes: Lovely coast
David Weir: Nice little walk out
Ben English: Nice play park busy because of school holidays bonus was there was a ice cream van there nice ice cream.
Matt English: Pretty little park, 1st time. Not great weather but lovely little walk, quite a few like minded people walking around exercising their dogs. Great access to the beach and lots of parking dotted around. Will be back.Dog-friendliness: Lots of dogs around, all on leads and careful owners. Dog loved it.
Amarachi Chijioke: Lovely park
David Hunt-Vincent: Good to see the work has started on the bandstand area, will be interesting to see how it turns out 🤞
Shaun Shaun: Great place for kids n dog excursions amazing people and pets ❤️ 😀 😊 💙 😄 ♥️ ❤️ 😀 😊 💙 😄 ♥️
Onwubolu Chukwuka Godwin: Lovely neighborhood
Mojtaba Aghamohammadi: Beautiful
MrTommy2hairs: Beautiful relaxing park,, it'd be nice to see the bandstand, park house & other bits updated, but it's still a lovely place to walk & enjoy
derek Grieveson: Loved roker Park so much to do sebb loves it 🐕♥️👍
Kelvin Thomas: Stunning park, just a short stroll away from the centre of town. I can imagine it being something extra special when in full bloom. Lakes, tropical gardens, too many interesting things to list. It's a must visit place in the city!
Nigel Sherriff: Pretty well kept year round. Ground keepers and flower displays are usually tip top. Only downside is the animals who don't pick up after their dogs. But that's not the parks fault.
Clint Veasey: Some nice crisp leaves amongst the soggy ones. Moderately attractive trees, although some are a bit too bowed to my liking, but generally nice sturdy branches and healthy trunks.Fowl are a welcome, if preditable, addition. I will say that the inclusion of many a majestic seagull gives the avian collection a gritty and relevant splash of feathered grim realism in what is a classically themed garden. The post modernist parody of a "classic park" is subverted by a pagoda left to partial collapse and some metal barriers encircle this in a crude yet haunting reflection of the inner and quitely desperate life of a mackem.P.s.Lots of doo doo, and a bit too much glass.
James kelso (James): Great city centre park, something for everyone and so close we to the coast
Kay Thompson: Attended as usual for the lights. Sadly any SEN slots were out of our reach but actually my boys managed pretty well. Always a great display. We are however considering if it is worth attending in the future. Coming from Seaham it cost us over £20 on public transport then a small fortune in food and rides. Perhaps a transport work around is needed not only to help the cost on families but also to bring down congestion and parking over properties in the future. For a widely publicised free event looking at supporting families during this cost of living the prices within need to reflect this also whilst I do appreciate they also have to make a living and are likely independent I heard a lot of families with upset children with parents saying no to things like food or the rides more than what we're going on or going to order. Some incentive maybe worth considering.
Susana Pena: I went to rocker park for the festival of light the first time. The festival was the greater experience we had this autumn.
garry morris: Go every year with the kids

Robert Norton: What a great place to visit and explore some of the history around WWII. Many of the air exhibits are in very good condition and you must take a camera. Craig Stewart: Such a great collection of historical vehicles right on our doorstep.Very affordable price for entry and some great history locked inside and outside the hangers.Pay a visit even if it's just the see the avro vulcan
John James: Second time visiting here, first time was just after covid ended. One of the hangers displaying the buses and trams etc wasn't open which was a real shame as our little lad really wanted to see them.We paid £13 for 3 of us(2 adults and a 4 year old). There generally is some cracking things to look at and even a WW2 style set of shops with mannequins etc.Definitely worth a visit if you're local.
Robert Allen: Good value for money. Lots of information to read about a lot of the display items. Could do with more info on the ones that don't have any, such as the tanks outside, the trams/busses etc in one of the hangers. Also this time you couldn't walk around a lot of the displays in some of the hangers. I don't know if this is a temporary thing, maybe maintenance was happening at the time.Take your own packed lunch as there is no cafe, but I'm guessing you wont be there for long enough to want to eat. There is a decent little pub just outside of the museum, I've been there before and it was nice. The Vulcan and some of the other fighter jets were very impressive. They were huge.
