David Lloyd Sunderland: what do users think?
Adam Burns: Great Gym. The outside pool is the perfect temperature.
Michael Goodman: Been a member for years. Not cheap but convenient for me. Got all I need
EDDY r: Worked there for 4 year and had a free m/ship. Great place
Prince Ohiagba: Great place you need to visit for an exciting experience
dave pears: Great facilities and friendly staff. Something here for everyone
Victoria Atkinson: Great place, friendly staff, excellent classes
Sharron Dobson: Great atmosphere, friendly staff. My teenage daughter had a session with a personal trainer Ellie following a recent knee injury. She was fantastic with her, gave great advice and helped curb my daughters anxiety about using her knee and exercising. At a recent appointment, my daughters physiotherapist was amazed at the techniques for strengthening she already knew from working with Ellie. Fantastic asset to David Lloyd.
Michael Atkinson: A great class with Alison Snaith, one of your best instructors.
Paolo Cuomo: Good David Lloyd. Good courts many with good viewing.
Daniel Jones: The Sunderland site is a large area with two pools, one indoor and one outside and a Battle box are outside. A large indoor air-conditioned training area set to a comfortable temperature full of all sorts of body building and toning equipment. Body pump rooms and quite training rooms. Boxing equipment on an upstairs mezzanine floor. There's a torture room for spinners and an indoor tennis and squash courts. Lockers (bring your own locks) hot tub, sauna, steam room and showers. No spa's at this site They do supply towels. You can also take your children and let them have a workout and make use of the attentive staff.
Paul Oliver: Decent gym space. Good selection and variety of weights / machines 👍🏻👍🏻Very cramped changing rooms. Which is surprising considering the size of the building. Would help if people didn't bring half the pool into the changing area with them. Rant over 😜
Adrian Hedley: Avoid this place at costs do not trust them with your direct debit they have abused it and taken an extra payment from me and won’t respond to my questions. They give you a phone number and knobby answers.
Dean Kozlowski: So a few short months ago i sign up with my partner to use the gym. I noticed yesterday that they have increased the cost of the membership. Tried to discuss this at the gym this morning after having no reply to an email I sent yesterday. Reception advised I should have had an email explaining the rise. They also said this should have been explained to us by Sales. Neither happened. I was advised to to on the app and speak with customer care. They refuse to do anything! They say to speak to Sunderland! So neither of them want to deal with this apparently! I said i will cancel my membership. They said I can’t as i signed up for 12 months and we have an agreement. That’s my point exactly! So it appears they can put the prices up but you can’t complain when they increase the price without warning. My advise is to look elsewhere. Facilitates are average for the price. Went in the family changing room for the first time the other day. Shower was broken. Changing room are always grubby. The shower in the pool area has had no hot water for a week and the turnstile as you enter has been broken for weeks. Very disappointing.
Hilary Albutt: Worst Jacuzzi ever. Shuts off on a timer ruining the enjoyment and wrecking the relaxation. Its the worlds worst. Its off more than on and you will be kicked out of the warmth if you dare stay in it "its being cleaned" which is rubbish and utter nonsense. The changerooms were retiled, sadly the job wasnt properly overseen and the snag list is incomplete.Good points for effort but sadly this branch is seriously in need of upgrades and a full time maintenance electrician and repair team.Needs work. Still. A year later.
Luke O'Rafferty: Shame that the pool is cool and the family change doesn't have a swimsuit spinner but the soft play is good
Lynne Dagg: Good
Rena Errington: Great club, excellent facilities, friendly staff
Andy Munro: Great gym. Looks of tennis courts, good gym, swimming pool and lots more.
Dave Elsdon: There for salsa not club great venue for any salsa dancers
michael Gibbon: David Lloyd is brilliant. Can't fault them from reception, cafe, gym personnel and instructors.
Deborah Carter: There is lots to do for the children. Swimming lessons are great

Claire Louise Pilates: what do users think?
louise dunn: I joined Claire's class with some trepidation due to chronic back pain and osteoarthritis in my hips. Yoga had exacerbated my back pain. I needn't have worried. Claire is a very experienced teacher and it shows. She is very skilled in monitoring and correcting individuals within her classes. I no longer have back pain, after suffering for over 25 years or more. There isn't a second that isn't put to good use in the hour - I find this very helpful in terms of "mindfulness". I'm not one for meditation, but the flow of the class, and attention to detail, means my mind has no time to wander elsewhere. I always feel great after class.
Margaret Briggs: Claire is the best Pilates instructor I have had, she explains everything, varies her classes and makes the whole experience very enjoyable
Heather Winder: Fantastic classes with a fantastic teacher - I would not go anywhere else! I have attended these classes for approximately 10 years. Claire has so much knowledge about the human body it is amazing. She knows when you are not doing a move correctly therefore corrects you to get the most out of all of the exercises. I suffered with a bad back and Pilates has helped unbelievably! 100% would recommend Claire’s classes to anyone👏😁🙌
Christine Ward: I've been going to Claire's Pilates class for a year now. I find she is very professional and knowledgeable whilst also being very approachable and friendly. The Pilates is fun and planned to suit individual needs. I love her classes and would highly recommend them to all ages and abilities.
Allison Brown: Claire is an exceptional Pilates teacher; friendly, highly knowledgeable with a passion for passing that knowledge on. Following major hip surgery, I struggled with strength and flexibility and was hesitant to move. Claire took the time to understand my injury and concerns and helped me understand what we were doing in order to improve; and the difference is remarkable. I have attended Claire’s classes for over 10 years and would 100% recommend her.
Anne Hall: Claire is an amazing and knowledgeable Instructor. I was advised to take up Pilates by my GP to relieve pain from sciatica and I fortunately found about Claire's lessons online. So as a late middle aged woman who is definitely gym averse, I reluctantly went along to a session; and what a revelation...I really enjoy my Pilates classes, my sciatic pain has gone, and I feel a positive benefit every week. Claire is welcoming, patient and encouraging. I highly recommend her classes to anyone, I only regret not finding out about her classes years ago.
Kevin: Always fresh and interesting classes. Claire takes time to make sure everyone's needs are catered for and constantly provides guidance to make sure you learn how to use the correct form/ get the best from a session.. Been attending for years which says it all.
Julie Stewart: When I first met Claire for a pre-class review, many years ago now, I told her I wanted to improve my strength, flexibility and balance; a friend commented I could have been talking about life in general and, in truth, Claire's classes support more than the body, they support the mind and spirit as well ... well, that's how it is for me. I highly recommend Claire. She is not only a very highly trained and experienced teacher, she loves her craft, which is evident through her teaching, her dedication, commitment and her caring. I have no doubt she will help you achieve your own fitness goals, just as she has helped me with mine.
David Johnson: I have found the pilate sessions with Claire always interesting, challenging and developmental focussed on encouraging you to extend your flexibility and strength .
tracy laidler: I just love these classes and wish i could attend more and wished i'd found them earlier in life, i never realised how good Pilates was for me until i attended Claire's classes, sitting at a desk all day is not good but every Monday she realigns my body. I have definitely improved over the years with Claire's help, and can see improvements in my strength throughout my body. All classes are really friendly, give it a go you wont be disappointed, you will feel the benefit in a few weeks/ months.
Colin Laidler: Claire is very knowledgeable and is fully committed to the health and wellbeing of all her clients. I’ve been going for years and can testify that my back issues are improved but I also have a better awareness of the causes!
Dawn Kempson: A fantastic, personable teacher who is patient, explains things well and gets to know her class.
Christine Farrage: Claire’s Pilates classes are perfect for me, really effective but also enjoyable. Claire is a brilliant instructor, very clear and patient, explaining each movement and it’s benefits and helps everyone progress at their own pace. I love that you find yourself working far harder than you would without a class. As soon as I started I thought Claire made the atmosphere very welcoming, and I can honestly say that not only has my fitness and flexibility improved massively, but also my mental wellbeing. If anyone is thinking about joining one of Claire’s classes, I would absolutely recommend it 100%
Margaret Morris: I have been going to Claire for at least 8 years now. She is driven to help people achieve optimum mobility and strength but always being realistic about the abilities of the individual client . She has classes of mixed ability and will tailor her instructions to meet the individual needs of those in the class.I strongly recommend seeing Claire if you are considering a Pilates class.
Al Cairnie-Coates: Claire has an excellent teaching/ nurturing style of delivering Pilates to all abilities. The weekly classes are so varied but at the same building and developing on techniques learnt. Thanks Claire 🙏
Anni Humes: Claire is a brilliant and understanding pilates teacher. I have been with her for more than 5 years and she has supported me through periods of work related pressures, bereavement and pesky arthritis. Always with attention to how my body ( and mind) is on the day. Many times I feel a different person after one of her sessions. Classes are not for me but her one to one sessions are worth every penny.
Helen Edwards: I've been doing Pilates with Claire for several years. First on apparatus, then in mat classes (and via zoom during lockdown). It's been so worthwhile. I no longer suffer from sciatica. Moreover during classes Claire always focuses on individual needs and knows those of her clients inside out. In contrast before finding Claire I had tried other Pilates mat classes but felt I got nothing from them.
Susan: Claire’s classes are great. She has a really good teaching style taking you from beginners to intermediate performance seamlessly. I would highly recommend her classes for anyone thinking about starting Pilates or with experience.
Joanne Marjoram: This is a fab Pilates class. Claire is a very knowledgeable teacher who manages to make it feel that you’re having 1-2-1 tuition in a group setting
Sandra Parsons: Claire is a fantastic teacher. She really understands the human body and all of its oddities. I always feel very safe in her classes as I know that I am in the hands of an expert. The classes are achievable and enjoyable. I am 69 with some health issues and the classes are helping me maintain my flexibility, strength and well-being. I cannot recommend Claire as a teacher enough.
Laura: I’ve been going to Pilates on and off now for about 10 years. I started after having my daughter as I suffered really tight calves and problems with my overall posture. Some days getting out of bed took a few moments. Pilates really helped me and I loved the 60 minutes of mat work, stretching everything out. I use it now for my back, shoulders and - the lockdown did not help. I was so pleased the sessions moved to Zoom and love the Saturday workouts. It sets me up for the day!
